He really was his hero.

Two weeks had passed since the first day of their meeting. Since then, Daehyun would almost always show up to protect him from Sungjong and the other bullies. Young Jae still didn’t understand why Daehyun wanted to be both his friend and hero, but... Young Jae was too happy about it to care too much about the reason why. He was just grateful that someone was there for him at all, that someone actually cared about him.

Any time that he was with Daehyun, or even when he wasn’t, Young Jae couldn’t help but admire Daehyun. The older boy was strong, confident, and so very kind. Plus, he looked super cool almost all the time! Young Jae always felt safe around him and he wanted to hold onto Daehyun as much as possible.

He wanted to always be with Daehyun.

“Mister Buttons~ Daehyun is super cool! Right?” (YJ) Young Jae turned his head a bit so that his ear was facing his Teddy bear, almost as if he was trying to hear what Mister Buttons was saying. After a second or two had passed, Young Jae pouted as he held his Teddy bear up, looking at Mister Buttons directly in the eyes. “Don’t worry Mister Buttons! I still think that you’re super cool too! You have to share first place with Daehyun.” (YJ)

Young Jae giggled as he pulled Mister Buttons tightly into his arms. Of course he would always think that Mister Buttons is super cool! Without his daddy or even sometimes Daehyun around, Mister Buttons was the only one that protected him from all the bad things out there. Mister Buttons was the one that gave him his strength to keep going.

Just as he got to his feet, two soothing voices broke the silence in the air. Young Jae turned around, his eyes looking around curiously as he tried to find the source of the voices. After a moment, he pinpointed the general direction and began walking as he hugged Mister Buttons a bit tighter than usual. He felt nervous about meeting new people, but at the same time, he was excited to learn who the two girls were since they sounded really pretty.

This was his first time in a long while listening to someone sing. When his mommy moved in with them, she never let him listen to his daddy sing anymore. She didn’t really like music, so she never let him listen to his any kind of music either. Still.. Young Jae could at least remember how the music sounded like. He also would never, ever forget the songs that his daddy sang for him whenever he got scared at night.

He came to a stop at a door that was slightly ajar. Coming up close to the crack, he peered inside and looked around before his eyes landed on the two girls whom were singing. Young Jae smiled sheepishly as he listened peacefully to the song, raising Mister Buttons up a bit to cover his mouth. He was about to sit down when the two girls suddenly stopped, causing him to tense up a bit. “Jessica! Try going a little higher here!” (TY)

“Can we rest now, Taeyeon? I’m tired!” (J) The girl named Taeyeon placed her hands on her hips and leaned on one leg as she stared at Jessica with her eyebrows furrowed. Jessica felt a bit unnerved by Taeyeon before she finally groaned and threw her hands up into the air in a dramatic fashion. “Alright already! Let’s keep practicing!” (J)

Just as they were about to start again, Young Jae finally lost his balance after being tense for so long, and fell into the room, causing the girl named Jessica to scream and hide behind the other girl. Jessica peeked out from behind Taeyeon before the two quickly made their way to the young boy. Crouching down, the two girls watched as Young Jae quickly sat up and hid behind his Teddy bear. “Um.. Are you alright?” (TY)

“I-I’m sorry! I-I didn’t mean to listen! Y-Your voices sounded really pretty a-and I wanted to listen bu-” (YJ) Young Jae jumped when he felt a warm hand touch his arm. Lowering his Teddy bear a bit, his eyes widened the second they came into contact with Taeyeon’s, whom was definitely invading his comfort zone. However, he didn’t see or sense any hostilities from the girl. In fact, the girl had giggled a bit as she bent forward a bit and held out a hand.

Young Jae looked down at Taeyeon’s hand before looking up at her face. He may not have been certain if Taeyeon was a good person or not, but... it felt like she was. Slowly, he outstretched a hand and took hold of it. Taeyeon gently pulled the boy onto his feet, dusting him off here and there before standing before him once more. “You must be the kid everyone is talking about! A Teddy bear and super duper fast to say sorry! I heard that you cry a lot too, but.. you’re not crying. That means that’s a good thing! I’m Taeyeon and this is Jessica.” (TY)

Taeyeon motioned to Jessica, whom blinked a few times before smiling and waving. Turning her attention to Young Jae, Taeyeon smiled as she placed her hands behind her back. “What’s your name?” (TY)

“I-I’m Young Jae..” (YJ) Everyone was talking about him? But.. why? He didn’t do anything good or bad enough to be talked about. He was just being himself, just like how his daddy told him to be.

YOU! You scared me falling in like that! Why didn’t you just walk in and listen like everyone else?!” (J) Jessica walked up to the now frightened boy as she began poking Young Jae’s arm roughly. Young Jae raised his Teddy bear up once more, covering his face completely as he attempted to endure Jessica’s constant poking.

“I-I-I’m sorry!” (YJ) Once Jessica had gotten her frustration out on Young Jae, she and Taeyeon had went back to practicing. Young Jae took a seat on the ground with his legs stretched out in front of him. He listened with admiration to the two girls, swaying left and right with the tempo of the song every now and then. Even when they stopped to fix a mistake that had occurred, Young Jae couldn’t help but wish he could be like them.

No, he didn’t want to be a girl. Young Jae wanted their determination, their ability to fix whatever mistakes they made. If he had something like that, then maybe.. just maybe, his daddy would still be alive and his mommy wouldn’t have left him all alone. Sure, he didn’t realize it at this very moment, but he did at least recognize it.

Before his sadness could overwhelm him, a tap on his shoulder quickly tore him from his thoughts. Young Jae looked up as his gaze quickly met with Taeyeon’s own curious gaze. Oh no! Had he done something wrong?! Had he interrupted their practice again?! He didn’t mean to, honest! Young Jae believed that he could be quieter or even more still! However, Taeyeon’s words quickly pulled Young Jae from his panic-stricken state. “Did you hear me? I was wondering if you could do me a favor!” (TY)

Young Jae hid the bottom half of his face behind his Teddy bear, moving only his eyes to look up at Taeyeon. She wanted him to do a favor for her? But.. why him? “W-What kind of favor is it..?” (YJ)

“I was wondering if you can ask Daehyun to come sing with us!” (TY)

“Yea! Daehyun’s a really good singer!” (J) Young Jae blinked in confusion as he looked from one girl to the other. Daehyun can sing really good? But.. Young Jae never heard Daehyun sing before! This only proved to peak Young Jae’s interest as he held his gaze on Taeyeon.

“D-Daehyun can.. sing good?” (YJ) Taeyeon and Jessica both nodded in agreement as Taeyeon smiled.

“He’s really secret about it though! Every time we ask him, he always says that he never sings good, but me and Jessica know he’s a liar!” (TY) Daehyun’s a... liar? But.. that can’t be! Heroes aren’t supposed to be liars! Only the bad guys were allowed to lie because they’re the bad people! Young Jae couldn’t help but feel saddened by this small bit of news, but maybe.. Daehyun had a reason to lie! Like how heroes have to hide their.. their real selves to keep their families safe! “So, will you ask him for us? I think he’ll listen to you since he likes you!” (TY)

Young Jae contemplated for a brief moment before nodding. “O-Okay.. I-I’ll try my bestest!” (YJ)

“Ah~! Thank you so much!” (TY)

“Yea Youngie! Thank you!” (J) As Jessica and Taeyeon jumped and cheer with joy, Young Jae felt a bit happy as he sheepishly hid behind his Teddy bear. Youngie? Was that like a nickname that people gave to other people, like how sometimes Seohyun is called Seo? Was this how.. people accepted other people? Young Jae liked being accepted by others! “Are you going to ask him now?” (J)

Young Jae looked up at Jessica, whom had somehow come in just a few brief inches away from his face. Young Jae’s eyes widened as he quickly pulled himself back a bit to create a comfortable distance between the two. Of course, a slightly determined look came onto his face as he smiled a bit. “O-Okay.. I-I’ll go ask him now.” (YJ)

Getting to his feet, Young Jae quickly ran off without waiting for another word from the two. He wanted to hear Daehyun sing so much! Plus, he didn’t want to disappoint his new friends. They were really nice for letting him listen to them sing, so he wanted to make sure that he did their favor! Young Jae quietly giggled to himself as he paused at an intersection in the hallway, looking around curiously. Where would Daehyun be right now?

One door after another, Young Jae peeked in. Since it was daytime, the majority of the other kids were out playing, doing chores, or eating, so he didn’t have to worry about disrupting anyone. But then, that meant that he wouldn’t find Daehyun in any of the rooms! Closing the door that he had just opened, Young Jae turned and had taken a step to start running once more, but quickly found himself falling backwards. Before he could completely fall though, a pair of hands quickly pulled him back onto his feet as they pulled him into a tight embrace.

Young Jae’s eyes widened as he tightened his hold on Mister Buttons. Who saved him? Despite the fact that he was now safe, he remained in this other boy’s grasp for an unnecessarily long amount of time. It felt warm, safe.. and inviting. It felt like it has been such a long time since he’s last had a hug that felt like this. In fact.. it kind of reminded him of his papa. “Um.. Y-Young Jae..? Are you alright?” (DH)

“Daehyun..” (YJ) Young Jae sheepishly smiled as he hid his face behind his Teddy Bear. He was very happy that Daehyun showed up when he did. Once he was firmly on his feet, Young Jae cuddled up against Daehyun. Daehyun turned a bit red as he looked around. He wasn’t sure if this was considered normal for two boys to be like this, but he wasn’t going to say anything at the moment. “T-Thank you.. You saved me again..” (YJ)

“Well.. uh.. sure! I’m your hero!” (DH) Young Jae giggled as he pulled away a bit, raising his Teddy bear once more so that it was hiding the lower half of his face once again. Even with half of his face covered, it was clear just how happy Young Jae was.

“Oh! Um... Taeyeon and Jessica told me to ask you to sing with them! Do you sing? Do you really? I wanna hear! Pretty please, Daehyun?” (YJ) Daehyun turned red again as he took a step back. He rubbed the back of his head as he sheepishly smiled.

“I-I’m sorry! I don’t think I’m a good singer though..” (DH)

“I wanna hear though... Sing for me when we’re alone! Please? I think it’s super pretty!” (YJ) Daehyun had a look of uncertainty as he began fiddling with the hem of his shirt. He looked around, trying to find some sort of answer, but.. it seemed like that answer wasn’t coming to him as easily as he had hoped. With a small sigh, Daehyun looked back up at Young Jae, whom still had a look of hope on his face.

“I.. I have to really think about it. I-I’m not really good at singing..” (DH)

“T-That’s okay! I wanna listen anyway!” (YJ) Daehyun nodded as he smiled a bit. He felt rather happy that Young Jae wanted to listen to his singing, but he really wasn’t all that confident about it. Sure, he loved singing, but only when he was by himself. “Will you sing now?” (YJ)

“No..! I.. I don’t wanna sing now. I was looking for you because I got hungry. Do you wanna come too?” (DH)

“Mm.. no. I have to go back to Taeyeon and Jessica! They’re waiting for me to tell them what you said.” (YJ) Daehyun thought for a moment before nodding. With a small wave from Daehyun and a wave through Young Jae’s Teddy bear, the duo departed as they went to their separate destinations.

Young Jae hummed happily as he made his way back to the others. He hoped that Daehyun would agree to singing with them. If he didn’t, then that was alright too. He just hoped that Daehyun would at least sing just for him! Even if it was kept like a super duper secret, that would still be the best thing ever!

Just as he was reaching the room where Taeyeon and Jessica were currently practicing, he instantly came to a stop. His eyes widened slightly as his hold on Mister Buttons tightened a bit. Biting his bottom lip, he took a single step back. “Who... Who are you..?” (YJ)

“Don’t be scared...! M-My name is Myungsoo. I... I wanna ask for help.” (L) Help? What did this big kid need help with and... why from him? Maybe he was a new friend? Everyone that has asked him for help so far seemed to cause them to become friends soon after! Still.. he was a little scary looking. Young Jae just wasn’t necessarily sure about becoming friends with this kid just yet.

“U-Um... What do you need help with?” (YJ) Myungsoo took a step forward, to which Young Jae was a bit worry about. He had almost taken a step back to match Myungsoo’s movements, but he chose to trust Myungsoo for the time being. After all, his father always told him that everyone deserved a chance.

“I... I need your help on getting closer to.... t-to Jessica.” (L) Myungsoo turned a slight shade of red as he turned his gaze away. Young Jae had, indeed, noticed this, but he didn’t necessarily understand the meaning behind Myungsoo’s actions. After all, he was only nine. He wasn’t going to know everything.

“O-Okay! That’s super easy, right? Come on!” (YJ) With a new reel of determination, Young Jae began walking forward. Myungsoo stared in confusion at first, but once Young Jae took a hold of his hand and began pulling him along, Myungsoo knew what was to come. He just wasn’t ready with what Young Jae currently had planned.

As they burst into the room, the two girls’ practice came to an abrupt stop as they turned to look at what the commotion was about. Coming to a stop, Young Jae happily stared at the two before looking at Myungsoo. Walking around to where he was behind Myungsoo, Young Jae then pushed Myungsoo forward, causing him to bump into Jessica, whom let out a yelp. She would have probably fallen over as well, but Myungsoo had instantly wrapped his arms around Jessica as he somehow regained his balance to keep them both from falling over.

The two stood there, their faces turning red as they tried to comprehend what had just occurred. Finally, Jessica let out a scream before pushing Myungsoo away. “W-What are you doing Myungsoo?! Who said you could touch me?!” (J)

“I-It wasn’t-” (L)

“Stay away from me, you creepy weirdo!” (J) Jessica hid behind Taeyeon, peeking her head out from behind before sticking her tongue out. Taeyeon let out a small sigh as she turned around. Pulling Jessica off to the side, Taeyeon spoke to Jessica in a low voice while Myungsoo turned to face Young Jae, making sure to keep his voice low as well.

“How was that helping?! Now Jessica thinks I’m a creepy weirdo!” (L) Young Jae cowered behind Mister Buttons as he took a step back. He really thought that was being helpful since Myungsoo wanted to get close to Jessica. The only thing that he could think of was making Myungsoo bump into Jessica. Still... it seemed like Myungsoo didn’t really like that idea.

“I-I’m sorry... I-I thought... th-that it would help.” (YJ) Before Myungsoo could let out any sort of anger that had been built up, the two girls had finished their little chat and hat cut into Myungsoo and Young Jae’s conversation.

“Hey, Myungsoo..” (J) Myungsoo turned around, his face reddening a bit as he looked away. He straightened his back and lifted his head high as he cleared his throat. He really hadn’t expected Jessica to talk to him right afterwards, so this was definitely a pleasant surprise.

“Y-Yes...?” (L) Jessica had her eyebrows furrowed and she didn’t necessarily look all that happy, but she knew that she had to listen to Taeyeon. She folded her arms and leaned on one leg as she looked away. She really didn’t want to say anything, but once she heard Taeyeon clear , she let out a small sigh before looking back up at Myungsoo.

“I’m... sorry. I know that you tripped and saved me from falling over too... so.. th-thank... you..” (J) It was clear in Jessica’s voice that she didn’t want to apologize. However, since she was in the wrong, she knew that it had to be done. If not, then Taeyeon would end up punishing her somehow.

Although Jessica wasn’t necssarily happy, Myungsoo was both happy and surprised. They rarely ever actually spoke, so the fact that he got an apology from Jessica was a huge step to possibly getting into a better relationship with Jessica. In a way, he was now thankful for Young Jae’s idea rather than wanting to punish Young Jae for it.

Maybe things really would turn out good after all.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After some time had passed, Young Jae finally felt his tummy trying to get his attention. Getting up from his seat, he made sure that he wasn’t interrupting anything before quietly slipping out of the room. Just as he had started walking, a hand grabbed hold of his shoulder from behind, causing him to yelp and run a few steps forward. Once he felt he was a safe enough distance, he turned around to find himself staring back at Myungsoo. “Where are you going?” (L)

“I... I’m hungry! So I’m going to go eat yummy food.” (YJ) Myungsoo nodded before waving a bit. With a brief smile, Myungsoo went back into the room.

Young Jae turned back around as he began walking once more. He felt so happy these days and he really hoped it would stay this way. It was much more preferred than when he first came here. The only thing that was missing now was... his dad.

Slowly, he came to a stop as he pulled his Teddy bear closer to him. He slightly buried his face into the back of his head as he sniffled. It had been a while since he last thought of his dad, but.. it should be okay. His dad wanted him to always be himself. Now that he had really nice friends, he could definitely do that!

Just as he had finally calmed himself down, Young Jae screamed as he felt himself falling forward. The second this happened, his first instinct caused him to shut his eyes tightly as he felt the ground collide with him. Tears, if not already, instantly slid down his cheeks as he balled himself up. He let out a pained whimper as he felt a kick come into contact with his back, but he refused to come out of his ball. “Look at this kid... I don’t get it. Why does Sungjong even pay at.. a.... attention! to him?” (BY)

“He’s crybaby Jae! I think Sungjong likes it when he cries but.. I think he likes when he cries too.” (S)

“I-I do not! Go away you-” (YJ) Young Jae let out a pained scream as he quickly grit his teeth and tightened his hold on Mister Buttons. Daehyun would come and save him, right? Daehyun was his hero after all and he always saved the damsel in distress! Daehyun promised he would protect him..

Young Jae had expected to get hit yet again, but a yell of some sort had pierced through the chuckles that had been lingering around. Slowly, he opened his eyes as he dared to see what exactly was going on. Even if it meant escaping from his one realm of safety, Young Jae had to see what was rescuing him. In his mind, he had hoped that it was Daehyun. Of course, it didn’t seem like that was the case once he saw whom was attacking his assailants.

“GET OFF OF MEEEE!” (S) From what he saw, there was a really small girl clinging onto Sungyeol from behind. Judging by how Sungyeol was turning all over the place, it seemed like the girl was hurting him a lot. He was able to see what the girl was doing every time Sungyeol did turn around. From what he saw, Sunny was currently pulling at Sungyeol’s hair with her legs wrapped around Sungyeol’s waist to keep from falling off completely. Young Jae definitely didn’t want to get on her bad side if she decided to attack him too.

Pushing himself up to a sitting position, Young Jae quickly crawled backwards until his back bumped into the nearby wall. Looking around, his eyes finally landed on yongguk, whom was currently at some sort of standstill with another kid. They didn’t seem to want to fight each other, but they both looked serious and really angry.

YONGGUK! Let’s get outta here! Sunny’s crazy!” (S) Young Jae quickly turned to see Sungyeol running away with the small girl yelling after him. Looking back over at the other two, he could see them staring at one another for a few more seconds before Yongguk turned and walked off. The girl named Sunny yelled at Yongguk too, but she didn’t see the need to attack Yongguk either.

Once Yongguk and Sungyeol were out of view, Sunny let out a small sigh before turning to face Young Jae. Instantly, the poor kid tensed up as both the boy and Sunny made their way up to him. He raised Mister Buttons up to cover his face, already bracing himself for whatever was going to be coming his way. However, their presence merely lingered in front of him.

“Hey kid! Why don’t you defend yourself?! Those two are super duper easy to beat up!” (SU) His eyes widened as he felt his Teddy bear practically torn from his arms with tremendous force. Young Jae’s gaze quickly looked up, his eyes landing on the littler girl that currently had Mister Buttons in a headlock in her right arm. Soon though, his eyes quickly landed on the hand that was stretched out to him. “But I guess it’s okay. You’re still a baaaby... Oh! You can be our baby now!” (SU)

Young Jae’s eyes widened as he looked from Sunny, to the boy (whom looked just as surprised), then back to Sunny. He wasn’t a baby! He was already a whole nine years old! Plus, how was he going to be their baby? The stork already brought him to his mommy and daddy! “H-How do we do that..?! It’s im... im... impottable!” (YJ)

“Impottable..? What’s that?” (HC) Young Jae wasn’t necessarily certain if he had even said the word correctly. He was sure that that was the word he was thinking of, but it seemed like that wasn’t the case for the moment. Still, even before he could completely figure it out, Sunny had interjected to bring it back to the topic on hand.

“We were playing house! Channie was the mommy and I’m the daddy! We were using our toys as our babies, but now you can be the baby instead! Will you play with us? Please? Pretty please with lots and lots of ice cream and sugar on top?” (SU) Young Jae hadn’t heard of playing house with people before. He was used to playing house with just toys, so it did sound like fun.

“O-Okay... I’ll play.” (YJ) Sunny grinned as Young Jae placed his hand into hers. Young Jae let out a quick yelp as he was suddenly pulled onto his feet with pure ease. Without any other warning, he felt himself being pulled along with Himchan following close behind.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Young Jae frowned as he moved the veil out of his face. He didn’t like that they were making him wear a veil, but he also didn’t like that he was marrying Mister Buttons. He looked up at Himchan, whom was supposed to be playing the person that made them get married. “D-Do I have to get married? I thought that I was supposed to be the baby!” (YJ)

“Sunny said that she wanted a baby girl and that when she’s all big and growned up, she’ll have a very big and pretty wedding!” (HC) Himchan nodded, almost as if he was in complete agreement with what Sunny wanted.

“B-But why do I have to play the girl..? I’m a boy!” (YJ) He was very certain that he was a boy. He didn’t wear dresses, he didn’t wear make up or have really long hair. He didn’t even like a lot of the girly things that girls liked!

“We couldn’t find someone to play our baby girl, so you have to do it!” (HC) The trio looked over to the door to see Daehyun stick his head in. Daehyun looked around for a moment before his eyes landed on the three. He stared in confusion when he noticed what Young Jae was wearing, but he quickly pulled a smile on his face.

“There you are, Young Jae! I-” (DH)

“Come here Daehyun! You have to marry our baby girl!” (SU)

“H-Huh?” (DH) Daehyun looked down at Sunny in confusion as he soon felt himself being pulled away from the door. Young Jae turned a deep shade of red as Daehyun was placed next to him. He watched as the hat and clip-on bow tie was transferred from Mister Buttons to Daehyun. Daehyun still looked rather confused, but Young Jae already understood what was about to occur. “W-Wait.. What are we playing?” (DH)

“House! Now listen!” (SU) Daehyun looked at Himchan, noticing the priest-looking clothes that he was wearing and the book that he was holding. He blinked in confusion, even as Himchan finally began talking.

“Uh... something something something... Daehyun, will you marry Young Jae forever and ever and ever?” (HC) Once realization kicked in, Daehyun’s eyes widened as he looked at Young Jae. He could see that Young Jae was completely red with his gaze almost glued to the ground.

Can two boys even get married? It was weird, but Daehyun would do it. His parents told him before that in ordered to get married, two people have to really like each other and want to always be together! If he was married to Young Jae, then he could protect him all the time! He could make Young Jae happy for as long as they were together, which was forever!

Looking back up at Himchan, Daehyun grinned before nodding. “Yeah! I wanna marry Young Jae!” (DH)

Young Jae instantly looked at Daehyun, his eyes widening. Daehyun wanted to marry him? But.. why?!

He looked away, his eyes looking down towards the ground yet again as he tried to figure out what Daehyun was thinking. Though, he soon felt a hand on his shoulder, causing him to look back up at Daehyun. He could see the worried look on Daehyun’s face, which made Young Jae just a wee bit confused. “Are you okay? Does your tummy hurt?” (DH)

Immediately, Young Jae shook his head as he looked forward once more. This time, it was Himchan’s voice that penetrated his thoughts. “Young Jae! Will you marry Daehyun or not?!” (HC)

His eyes trailed upwards, coming to a stop once they came into contact with Himchan’s eyes. He could feel his heartbeat racing, but he forced himself to nod. After all, an answer was needed and he didn’t want to make anyone mad. “Okay! Kiss the bride now!” (HC)

Young Jae’s eyes widened yet again as he turned to face an equally surprised Daehyun. It was evident that neither one of them had known that they had to kiss each other and now, they seemed to be regretting their decisions.

However, even if Young Jae was frozen in place, Daehyun finally worked up the courage needed to seal their marriage. After all, if he was going to protect and make Young Jae happy forever and ever, then he needed to do everything that a real hero would do!

Turning to face the younger boy, Daehyun turned Young Jae towards him. With his hands on Young Jae’s shoulders, he looked down into Young Jae’s widened eyes. Daehyun may not have known this, but they were both completely nervous. Their hearts beat faster than normal, their faces were red, but the only difference was that Daehyun was willing to continue.

Reaching up, he moved the veil out of Young Jae’s face as he pursed his lips. Young Jae’s eyes remained wide as he trailed his eyes downwards to Daehyun’s lips. Was Daehyun really going to kiss him? Were they really going to be married forever?

As if to answer his question and without any other warning, Daehyun leaned in and planted his lips on Young Jae’s. Young Jae remained frozen in place, trying very hard to keep up with the current situation. So many thoughts ran through his mind and it was greatly confusing him.

Back when he used to go to school when his daddy was alive, everyone else said that kissing was really gross and that girls had cooties. Well... Daehyun was a boy, so.. is that why it felt like this? Is that why Daehyun’s lips felt so soft against his and so warm? Was that why it didn’t feel gross and instead, felt really... nice? It felt almost.. inviting, like it was trying to pull him in.

Young Jae had always liked receiving kisses on his cheek from his father, so it was a completely different experience receiving Daehyun’s kiss on his lips. But... his daddy told him that kissing on the lips was only for adults. Wait. They weren’t adults! They were still kids, so that meant that they were doing something really, really bad!

Upon realizing this, tears began to well up once Daehyun pulled away. The other three came in closer, trying to ask what was wrong, but Young Jae shook his head before running out the door. Daehyun’s eyes widened as he watched for a brief moment before his body finally decided to listen to what his mind had to say. “Y-Young Jae! Wait!” (DH)

Grabbing hold of Mister Buttons, Daehyun soon ran after the younger boy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Daehyun let out a sigh of relief as he finally found Young Jae laying on the beach. He had looked everywhere else and this was the last place he could think of where Young Jae would have ran off to. He was glad that Young Jae had decided to come here though. It made it a lot easier to find him and.. this place was really pretty. He liked coming here after all.

Walking up to younger boy, he came to a stop once he was right next to him. Daehyun laid down in his spot as he looked up at the sky. They laid in silence, the only sound coming from the moving waves that the ocean produced and the quiet breathing that escaped from each boy. It only took a few more minutes of this peaceful silence before Young Jae finally spoke.

“W-Why did you kiss me..? My... My daddy said that kissing is only for adults...” (YJ)

“R-Really? My mom and dad told me that if two people really like each other and if they want to be together, then they get married...” (DH) Which one was the right person to listen to? Their parents’ words seem to conflict with one another, but maybe they needed to combine the two. It could be possible that their dad’s only heard a small portion of the truth! “I have an idea!” (DH)

Daehyun pushed himself up to a sitting position before looking down at Young Jae. The younger lad stared back at Daehyun before pushing himself up to a sitting position as well. “What’s your idea?” (YJ)

“Do you really like me and want to be with me forever and ever?” (DH) Young Jae looked off to the side a bit as he thought on this question. Well... he did technically like Daehyun the second most, after his dad. He did also want to stay with Daehyun since he protected him. So, Young Jae looked back at Daehyun before nodding. “Okay! Then.. promise me that you’ll marry me when we’re older!” (DH)

“W-What..?!” (YJ)

“Marry me when we’re older! My parents said that marrying people is only for two people that really like each other and want to be together. Your dad said that kissing is only for adults. So.. when we’re grown-ups, we can get married together for real!” (DH) As Daehyun smiled, holding his pinky out to Young Jae, Young Jae thought on Daehyun’s words. It did make sense. When they did become all grown up, they would be allowed to kiss each other a lot just like in the movies, AND they would be married!

“O-Okay..! I promise I’ll marry you when we’re grown ups!” (YJ) Young Jae held his pinky out before wrapping it around Daehyun’s. They then turned their hands to where they could connect their thumbs together, sealing their promise. They both soon laughed as they pulled their hands away before turning to look forward. “I hope we grow up really fast.” (YJ)

“Me too..” (DH) Daehyun smiled happily before something in his grasp soon grabbed his attention. Looking down, realization soon hit him as he turned to Young Jae and held out the Teddy bear. “Here! You forgot to bring Mister Buttons with you!” (DH)

Young Jae’s eyes widened before a smile soon crossed his face. Taking hold of his Teddy bear, he gave it a soft pat before looking up at Daehyun. “Thank you Daehyun.. I-I’m really happy that you’re my hero..” (YJ)

“Huh? But I didn’t save you today.” (DH) Young Jae thought on it for a moment as he pulled his legs close to his chest.

“Mm.. but you brought Mister Buttons! You made sure he was safe.” (YJ) Young Jae giggled a bit as he tightened his embrace over Mister Buttons. “I’m really happy that.. w-we’re going to get married.” (YJ)

“Me too... Just remember our promise, okay?” (DH)

“O-Okay.. but you have to remember too!” (YJ) Daehyun nodded before laying down in the sand. He would always remember their promises. No matter what happens, he would make sure that he would keep every single one of the promises he makes with Young Jae.

After all... Young Jae was very important to him, just as Daehyun was to Young Jae.

[[ My Own Thoughts:

Okay.
Not much really happened..
Besides them kissing and promising to marry one another.
But that’s just about it. -/cough-.. xD

Uh... Comments are loved. x3
I love talking with everyone and knowing everyone’s thoughts on the fanfic >3< ]]

Chapter 48: I swear this is like one of the best fanfic I have ever read. The childhood part was really interesting and nicely done, I wish you would detail some scenes but that's okay. And now... I don't know where you are going with this but I feel so excited. I am sad for Jin though because for the first time, he found someone important and yet, he lost it. That's so cruel you know. R. I. P Taehyung ~ ;-; Kyungsoo is a freaking bastard, hope he would end up in prison. Seungjong too! Feels like you are plotting something with him haha! Especially since he didn't get his revenge. Damn.... Daehyun will get to suffer again. X) about DaeJae, I love how slow you are making it. That's frustrating and sweet at the same time. And BangHim gosh, I want them to be together officially. But each time something interrupt them. X) is their couple going to be part of your plot or is it not that important? That's funny because I thought from the childhood that Himchan would have ended up with Sunny ~ By the way, that's been a long time we haven't seen her, is she going to make a cameo haha?
I also found it funny how Zelo and Jongup didn't like each other and how dependant Junhong seems to be towards Jongup when they both grew up haha! I actually laughed a lot when they bickered back then and now Junhong likes his hyung haha! Funny ~ Anyway I'm just going to end this review because I spent the last four nights reading these 48 chapters, I feel like I'm not making any sense anymore haha! Well, fighting for the next chapter, I am kind of excited to read it now! Fighting!!!!
