CHAPTER 8

HEAD OF THE FAMILY

“By now…she already has an idea of what we are.” Said In-sung “Our stay in this city is in jeopardy.”

“I am at fault.” Said Minho

“I am not saying this to blame you. I am saying this so that you could tell me the situation so that we can plan the next course of action.” Said In-sung taking a deep breath “Does that woman have Demon blood?”

Minho looked at In-sung. There’s a battle within… Nothing will ever get past In-sung.

Minho nodded.

“Then she’s safe against Demons since Demons do not feed on their own kind…but Demon Hunters will hunt her once they know she has the blood.” Said In-sung

“It’s either you keep her close…so that nobody can hunt her…or you keep her away…where nobody would hunt her.” Said In-sung.

“That woman…she smells… a bit different… than ordinary sleeping Demon blood.” Said Minho

“What do you mean?” asked in-sung

“An awakened Demon smells like rotten dead rat… the more humans it has killed, the stronger it is… the worse it smells…a sleeping demon smells like baby’s milk…but Sulli…” Minho closed his eyes as he remembered the scent.

“She smells like a flower bud…a flower that is only going to start its bloom….fragrant…but not yet overpowering…not yet in full bloom.” Said Minho

“You are not talking about her perfume are you?” asked In-sung

Minho opened his eyes in frustration.

“All right…I got it…but where did you ever hear a Demon smelling good?” asked In-sung

“That one…Sulli…is the first one.” Said Minho

In-sung sat down.

“Are you sure she’s a Demon? You’re describing her like a fairy or something. Do you smell fairies too?” asked In-sung

“You have a bad habit of inserting jokes when it’s not good to do so.” Said Minho

“Then she’s not an ordinary Demon.” Said In-sung thinking “Almost a thousand years ago…I heard of stories of Demons who did not possess the foul smell…Demons so powerful that they can cover up their smell into that of fragrant flowers…Demon Hunters had a hard time hunting them…they could not hunt them at all because we rely on the sense of smell to hunt…but that was in the old times…They were all killed long time ago...”

In-sung stood up.

“I think I need to visit the head earlier than I wanted.” Said In-sung

In-sung walked on but Minho stopped him.

“What if she is indeed from a strong line of Demon from the past millennium?” asked Minho

“Then we can’t let her demon blood wake up.” Said In-sung “And once any other branch find out how strong she can be… they will hunt her...they will make sure she’s finished even before disaster strikes.”

Minho clenched his hand.

“Even before the blood wakes up?” asked Minho

“Even when she’s still human.” Answered In-sung.

Minho looked away.

“Let’s hope we’re just overthinking.” Said In-sung.

And then he left.

Heechul carried Sulli on his back…he climbed the gate like a shadow in the night… he has done this a countless times…he knows how to be undetected…he knows how to avoid the alarms…

“What kind of treasure is hidden here? You have more guards that the national jail.” Whispered Heechul

“My Uncle…is a bit more richer than most people.” Said Sulli

Heechul reached the roof.

“Where do you want to go?” asked Heechul

“To my room first. My clothes are full of blood. I need to change…and then I need to call the guards off.” Said Sulli “My room is in that area.”
