CHAPTER 5

DEMON HUNTERS

Heechul entered the store.

“Was the Lady safely returned to her car?” asked In-sung

“Yes. She asked me not to accompany her further than a block though. Because she didn’t want her guards to see me.” Said Heechul

In-sung nodded.

“Minho?” asked Heechul

“Mission.” Said In-Sung

“Again?” asked Heechul “That’s his second for tonight.”

“The head of the family seems to be having favouritism lately…and she seems to have chosen our branch as her favourite.” Said In-sung

“Minho in particular.” Said Heechul

“True.” Said In-sung

Heechul looked at his phone. “Until when are we staying in this City?”

In-sung dropped the paper he was holding.

“You don’t like this city?” asked In-sung “I was thinking of staying here a bit longer than the last.”

“A bit longer? Hmm…we stayed for 10 years in the last one.” Said Heechul

In-sung smiled. “That’s a terribly short time for the likes of us.”

“But still…it was enough to make a commotion.” Said Heechul “We shouldn’t stay that long in one place In-sung.”

“But that town was so nice.” Said In-sung “And even the head of the family liked it that we were in a  secluded place like that…until of course rumours about us started.”

Heechul reached for a chair.

“That woman…she’s…she’s not one of them…right?” asked Heechul

“I can’t be certain…I can’t smell a trace of a demon in her…but the charm in the door…has never been wrong.” Said In-sung

“We better monitor her.” Said Heechul

“That woman has to stop visiting our place.” Said In-sung “She should be warned.”

“She lives here…the other branches will not interfere in the area that we cover.” Said Heechul

“The other branches of our family are nothing like us…they only need suspicion that a person has Demon blood and they will already start the hunt. We have already had several occasions when other branches would appear in our area while hunting. If they come here…they will find us…and when that woman comes…they would see her reaction to the charm.” Said In-Sung.

Heechul closed his eyes thinking.

“And then they will hunt her even if it’s within our area.” Said Heechul

In-sung nodded. “We can’t allow a battle within the family. The head has explicitly warned us already.”

“And Minho?” asked Heechul “He has the gift right?”

“He has not spoken about the matter yet. But he needs to tell us.” Said In-sung

“Having that ability…Demon hunters will envy him....” Sad Heechul

“I don’t think Minho would appreciate that if he heard you.” Said In-sung “That ability…while taking the principles we are taking… it will take your soul to fight the urge.” Said In-Sung.

“I know it’s not easy…Especially with the decision that we took…But In-sung… Minho is not suited in our branch…he’s torturing himself.” Said Heechul

“Nobody pushed him to stay with us, Heechul. He chose to stay… he chose to abide by our principles. He chose this…because he believes in what we stand for.” Said In-sung.

Heechul stood up. “But the others will not let his ability go to waste.” Said Heechul
