Characters: Kim Jongin & Baek Soojin (OC) and then Chanyeol, Krystal, and Kyungsoo as their friends

Plot: The story of how Jongin and Soojin got together is so not readable in one seating. It is so long-, it beats the length of the Mahabharata. The reason behind this is that, they both have difficulty in expressing their feelings. Both are terribly awkward about boy-girl relationships as they claimed they're not really the pining-and-caring-for-others type. They're both introverted, both the only child in the family. However, when Cupid shoots his arrow, whether they like it or not, they'd have to succumb for whatever changes love has to bring into their lives.
OC's personality:
a genius with academics but kind of socially dense, not really shy just a girl of few words, helpful when she has time for it, decisive, pretty but is not fashion-conscious at all, has a hard time interacting with the opposite unless they're very friendly or they're gay, passionate about learning, bully-able nerd as long as they don't steal her homework (she's pretty passive about the bullying at this point in her life but she'll surely give them hell if they lay a hand on her academic papers)

“Soojin, have you seen my Chanyeol anywhere ?”

Baek Soojin looked up from a novel she had been borrowing from the library for a few times already. She didn’t know staying inside a library to have her own quiet freetime would be this difficult. But then again, she was known to be a studious girl to her friends, which was not that a lots, or a nerd to some of the bullies in her school.

Soojin had only one close female friend, and that lucky girl appeared out of nowhere to ask for her boyfriend.

Soojin glanced at the time on her wristwatch, Ten minutes before class starts, I gotta go anyway. Without saying anything, leaving her friend shifting weight from leg to leg impatiently, Soojin gathered her books, novels and few used candy’s wrappers into her bag.

“Actually, I did see him when I first reached my locker. But after that, nope”

Krystal scoffed, she uncrossed her arms and reached out, pinching Soojin’s cheeks and grabbed them to each side, pulling her face into a flat one. “Aigoo, can you just answer me when I asked ? You made me wait for a long five minutes to know that you didn’t see my boyfriend”, Krystal cooed as her face grunted into an ugly nagging expression.

Soojin smiled, she loved Krystal because the girl treated her as if she was a kid and would react funnily to her, while in fact, Soojin had never been a type to show her emotion obviously to anyone, not even her family. So she really appreciated Krystal for still being her friend despite the different personalities.

“I bet Chanyeol is with Kai right now, can you call him and ask where he is ?”, Krystal linked arms with Soojin as two of them walked back to their class. Soojin only knew Chanyeol through Krystal when two of them started dating, and all she knew about the guy was that he was a happy kid and also was a good guy. It had been like two years and four months since they dated, through that time, Soojin was introduced to Kai – Chanyeol’s bestfriend, and sometimes, he called himself Kai’s fanboy.

At the mention of her boyfriend, Soojin’s ears turned red, her cheeks became rigid and a small, content smile spread across her lips. She still couldn’t believe that someone would actually asked her to be his girlfriend, considering her introverted, wordless and wallflower-like personality. She couldn’t help but to recall of what really brought them together.

Soojin was panic-stricken when Chanyeol pushed Kai hard on his back, causing the boy to stumble over, crashing his forehead against hers. It was their first time meeting each other, yet, skin contact left a really bad impression of Kai in Soojin’s mind. She was not really comfortable, not to say friendly, with any male beings besides her father ever since she was born. Chanyeol had passed the stage where she was frightened with, because he was her friend’s boyfriend after all.

And the Kim Jongin happened to be the very first boy touching Soojin out of sudden like that.

It took the two almost five months to look into each other eyes for the first time after that horrible first meet, at least horrible to Soojin only.

Kai had two older brothers, he grew up with a world full of men, and when he grew up, his friends were all boys. He hadn’t had any physical contact with female friends before, the only females he actually was comfortable with were his mother, and his female puppy Jjangah. But unlike Soojin, Kai actually got cupid shoot him right in her heart at the moment his forehead touched this new girl he met.

Kai was equally inexperienced in this whole boy-girl-relationship thing. It resulted in his awkward, not understandable confession he managed to mumble to Soojin after two years knowing each other.

Kai had kicked his a hundred times even now whenever he thought back to how he confessed to the girl he loved. It was a really hard-to-breath confession. It was heavy with stumbling words, messed up ideas and a really shy question if she wanted to date him.

Soojin couldn’t help but to chuckle softly to herself. She hardly showed that she loved Kai enough to think of him a lot of times a day. Their dates could be considered boring and their conversations had never passed over ten sentences each. She was happy that Kai was such a caring boy to still choose her out of all the other better girls. But of course, Baek Soojin couldn’t deny the fact that she was scared for her relationship with Kai.

“Soojin, are you still there ?”, Krystal grabbed her wrist and pinched her nails on it. Soojin slightly winced and paid attention back to her friend. “Ah, yes ?”

“Call Kai !”

“Call … Kai ? Why must I ?”, Soojin lowered her eyes, she glanced at her phone pocketed inside her shirt with a mixed espression. I don’t know what to say when it comes to Jongin.

“Because he is your boyfriend, what’s else ? I can just call Chanyeol by myself, but that giant left his phone with me when he came over for dinner”, Krystal explained, taking out Chanyeol’s phone as if to prove that she didn’t mean to force Soojin call Kai.

Soojin bit her lower lip. I will just shutter through the call, I can’t talk about anything not related to study and homework without shutter with him. I start to regret dating him … Jongin must be bored of me.

At the verge of not knowing what to do, Soojin didn’t want to make a fool out of herself by calling Kai, and she also didn’t want to be a bad friend to Krystal. A reason of all of these appeared to save the best.

“SOOJUNG-AH !”

Krystal whirled around, her eyes brightened and she immediately spread her arms widely open and in a couple of seconds later, a big giant crashed himself onto her, scooped her up into a tight bear hug and spinning her around.

Soojin smiled softly at how happy the couple was. Chanyeol was a really nice boyfriend, he didn’t think twice about telling the whole world how proud he was to have Krystal as his girl, and Soojin envied Krystal for that.

“Hey …”

A deep, soulful manly voice called from behind her back. Soojin stiffened. She knew that voice really well despite not hearing from it a lot comparing to other couple. That was the voice she fell in love with. Kai’s tone of voice was never cheerful like Chanyeol, or full of friendly sarcasm like Krystal, or even as warm as Kyungsoo – his other close friend that Soojiin grew comfortable with, Kai’s voice was a mystery, it brought inside a nervous and shy feeling in it.

As y and confident as he appeared physically, the real Kim Jongin that Soojin knew was really shy, introverted and easily blushed at such small skin contact.

“Good morning”, Soojin relied in the same small tone, giving Kai her little smile and that’s just it. They didn’t greet each other in big fat hug like Chanyeol and Krystal, they didn’t even shake hands, which would be a lot better than not touching at all.

Kai bobbed his head, sending her his most shy smile ever, his smile didn’t reach his ears, but Soojin could tell that he was truly happy by the way his eyes looked like a million stars were inside when he looked at her.

Chanyeol released Krystal and they both scoffed at another two in front of them. Chanyeol looked at Kai, who was right next to his left, then looked at Soojin, who was on Krystal’s right side. He rolled his eyes and grabbed his girlfriend, “We have to go first”, Krystal beamed and s her arm around Chanyeol’s waist.

Soojin panicked, she knew exactly what they were trying to do. They had been leaving just two of them alone in any occasion they could for a while now. Yet, she couldn’t get used to be alone with Kai. Her heart would beat too fast for her liking, her hands would get damp due to sweating a lot and all she could do was staring at the ground instead of her boyfriend.

“Soojung, don’t leav-“

“Kai, walk Soojin to her class for me, can you ? Thank you !”, Krystal winked at Soojin teasingly before running away like two mischievous ducklings with Chanyeol.

As soon as two of them disappeared, the atmosphere around Kai and Soojin became like how it’s inside the library. Quiet.

Kai peeked at Soojin. He noticed she was fidgeting with a few books on her arm and he was thankful that he could help her somehow. Carefully, Kai stepped closer and held one arm out.

Soojin blinked, she her lips nervously, realizing how close he was. She didn’t say anything, just giving him confusing looks and Kai could understand her just well.

“I’ll bring those books, give me”, Kai softly spoke. He carefully slipped his fingers over the pile, trying his best to not touch her skin in anyway, knowing that once they touched, he would react stupidly and threw off the books. He himself would get extra nervous if they had skin contact. He had been craving to hold her hands whenever he walked her from school to her house, yet, Kai was too shy to do that, instead, he watched her side profile, calmly walking by his side. He had been craving to hug her goodbye when they were apart, but it would be either him or her quickly turned around and ran off before the hug could happen.
