A cold gust of wind blew and she could have shivered because of it if not for the fact that she’s already trembling. Spacing out, she tried to calm herself as the words the witch uttered earlier repeated over and over in her mind. The words brought shock, fear and worse, further uncertainties. “Don’t you wonder why Donghae’s still not waking up although, evidently, he isn’t sick? He doesn’t respond to any of the treatments because there’s nothing to fix with his body in the first place. The spell was casted for his soul, his own soul is sleeping and he won’t wake up until I said so.” “W-What..” “This is the last part of the curse.” “But it’s not—“, Once she somehow collected herself, her mind starting to be coherent with everything, Hyukjae realized everything. She stared, glared at the witch, her eyes accusing and angry. “You lied to me! You said everything will be okay once I find my true love!” “Ooh, that’s such a big allegation honey. So now you know how it feels to be lied upon, huh? Tell me how does it feel to hope and believe in false promises? It hurts. Right?”, Sunmi, the witch, asked, her eyes flaming just as much as Hyukjae’s. The redhead would have answered back, came up with more indictments and words of downright fury but she also knew that the witch’s words must have what the other felt when Eunhyuk played with her heart. Sunmi’s undoubtedly angry but in a flash the glower was gone. It was replaced with a tightlipped smile and Hyukjae thought this look more petrifying. “But in my defense, it’s not that I lied to you. I don’t. I just didn’t tell you everything.”, Sunmi stated with a taunting smile Hyukjae had to restrain herself from clawing the witch’s face. “Yes. You didn’t tell me you’re going to kill my true love!” “Kill? Woah wait Hyukjae, that’s too strong of a word. I maybe the -est witch there is but I’m definitely not a murderer.” “Then why isn’t he waking up?!”, Hyukjae bellowed, standing on her feet as she faced the witch, stressed out and frustrated. “Wrong question.”.The corner of Sunmi’s lips twitched upward, crossing her legs at the same time she did with her arms over her chest. She leaned on the bench, head tilted a little to the left, perking an eyebrow up. “You should be asking, ‘What do I have to do for him to wake up?’”, Sunmi stated with an alarming smile and Hyukjae frowned in confusion. “W-What?” “What will happen to your boyfriend all goes down with the choice you’re going to make.” “Choice?”, Hyukjae asked, completely lost. She knew she could have processed and thought about this in another given time but knowing she’s so close on knowing how to wake Donghae up, she just really want to take the answers out from the witch, right now. “What choice?” There’s a smirk that appeared on the witch’s lips. Eyes in a squint, she propped her elbow on the top of his knee, chin rested on her palm, the taunting smile back on her face. “You know I kind of enjoying this look of you.”, she said, removing her hand off her chin, motioned her index finger in a circular motion as she pointed at Hyukjae. “Helpless. Depress. Desperate.”, Sunmi stressed out her every word. “I like the view of you wanting something so badly that only I can give.” Hyukjae pressed her lips together, knuckles white from her intense grip. It’s taking all of her willpower to not just strangle the witch and choke the answers out but she knew this matter didn’t just involve her alone but Donghae as well, so she took a deep breath and with a blank face, asked the witch once again. “Just tell me what I have to do.” Does she have to beg? Kneel? She can do that. She can do even the impossible just to see Donghae awake, alive and happy again. Sunmi stared at her, scrutinizing, contemplating. Hyukjae silently prayed that she had heard the worst. She hasn’t yet, apparently. “Everything’s really amusing now, do you know that? It’s so entertaining I feel like seeing you more like this. So I’m leaving everything for you to figure out.” What the— “Why would you that? How can I figure it out?! What if I fail to come up with the right answer?!!”, Hyukjae exclaimed, her anxiety heightening up. She’s mad, agitated but most of all, she’s scared. Terrified that she wouldn’t be able to do things right and Donghae will be gone. No. She couldn’t live with that. “Oh you will come up with the answer, don’t worry. I know you will.”, Sunmi stated as she stood up, took a few steps forward until she’s face to face with Hyukjae. “Tomorrow night, the third full moon for this season, the first blue moon in three years, we’ll meet again. And you’ll give me your answer.” “Answer to what—“ But her speech came into a halt as Sunmi vanishes right on her spot, thin dark purple mist lingering on the place she had been. Hyukjae stared, startled, and it was only then that it dawned to her that Sunmi is a witch, enchanted, powerful. She blinked, her breathing becoming uneven as she attempted to put her thoughts together. Donghae’s under a spell, a spell the witch casted, a spell only her can lift but it will all depend on Hyukjae’s choice. But what are the choices? What has to be the right answer so as to wake Donghae up? Chills run down her spine as she got a hold of herself, doing her best not to faint right there and then because these were all just too much to handle. Donghae’s life is in her hands. And she would give anything just to save him. But where to start? The clock’s ticking, but she didn’t even know where to begin. Everything started spinning again, her head getting heavy, her legs giving up. And just like what happened in the hospital corridor earlier, right before she hit the floor, there’s those protective arms again. “Hyukjae!”, Kyuhyun exclaimed, holding her body tightly, the bread and strawberry milk he bought dropped on the ground. “I’m okay, I’m okay.”, Hyukjae informed him but the fret on his face didn’t waver. “Are you sure?” “Yes I’ll just.. have to go somewhere and.. think..”, Hyukjae uttered weakly and Kyuhyun clenched his jaw, refusing to remove his hold on the redhead. “No, you clearly need a rest. I brought my father’s car, I’ll take you home.” “B-but..” But Kyuhyun’s already ushering her to the exit, and Hyukjae’s too feeble and exhausted to actually put up a fight. She sat infront of the hospital’s lobby as she waited for Kyuhyun, her mind occupied with nothing but questions. Where will she start? How to solve a puzzle when there are no pieces to begin with? Hyukjae shut her eyes tightly, suppressing the upcoming tears because she couldn’t afford to cry now. Not when her hours are numbered, and that Donghae’s life at stake. She stood up, gathering what’s left of her strength, small steps turned into big hurried ones as she walked out of the hospital. She could see the cars, the traffic ahead, the other buildings, the streets, the people around. One of these might hold the answer, or at least a clue. It was kind of despairing, because it’s as if she was finding a needle in a haystack. But she would flip the world if she had to just so she could save Donghae. It’s all for Donghae. Donghae who mean the world to her, and more. She began to walk, letting her feet take her to wherever. It was like searching with a blindfold, almost impossible, but Hyukjae believed, wanted to believe, that it can be done. She didn’t care if it seemed to be a hopeless case, or if Kyuhyun would definitely scold her once he found out she’s about to leave, or if the wind blew again and this time a paper which might have been an ad plaster in one of the bulletin boards stuck on her thigh. Hyukjae casually took it off and threw away. She took another step and the wind blew again, the pink ad paper came back and now wedged on her arm. Hyukjae removed it without even sparing a glance. She took another step and this time the wind blew harder, but she was too clocked up to care. The pink paper swirled over her body, and it was left unnoticed until it actually landed right on her face. “A..ya!”, the girl bellowed, visibly annoyed as she grabbed the paper off her face, the corner of her eyes already b in tears because she’s just really in an extremely bad mood now and she didn’t have the time to deal with a freaking piece of paper— She stopped as she read the words written on the pink colored ad. “Hyukjaeyah! Hyukjae!”, Kyuhyun appeared behind her, a pout and a frown on his face as he complained on why she was out there and didn’t he tell her to stay in the lobby while he get the car from the parking lot. But Hyukjae wasn’t really listening as she read the words again, and when Kyuhyun was actually infront of her she could only say. “I need you to take me somewhere.”, she stated, gripping on the pink piece of paper as if her life depends on it. Kyuhyun lifted an eyebrow and tilted his head.
