Hands on her lap and knees closed together, Hyukjae sat in silence as she watched over the body lying before her. She tried to keep track with the conversation on her back, but she actually lost the rest after hearing what the doctor first told Mrs. Lee.   “We can’t really pinpoint how did all of these happened but we’ve done our tests and x-ray scans and apparently, Mr. Lee Donghae here isn’t hurt.”   It’s an actual moment of silence, or at least for Hyukjae as she stared into space, entirely bewildered. She lifted her head a little, enough so she could actually see Donghae’s face, calm and beautiful, just like how it had always been. Donghae isn’t hurt, it’s something she should be thankful, right? The right corner of her lips twitched upward in a bit, her eyes glossy but relieved. If Donghae isn’t hurt then he must be okay now, right? He’ll wake up anytime soon, right?   “But doctor, why isn’t he waking up?”, Yoona’s voice filled the air and Hyukjae’s eyes remained fixed on Donghae. “It’s what baffled us to be honest. He’s not hurt anywhere, nor showed any signs that could trigger dizziness or fainting. He’s perfectly fine and healthy, unscathed and very much ready to be discharged once he wake up.” “But why did he faint in the first place?”, Mrs. Lee questioned. “We’re still making various tests and researches. It’s strange how we can’t detect a reason but we’re doing our best. We’ll keep you updated.”, the doctor stated before taking his leave. Yoona and Mrs. Lee exchanged glances and the younger consoled her mother , saying she believed there’s nothing to worry about. Donghae’s not hurt and said to be very healthy, whatever caused his sudden passing out must be something ordinary and nothing to fuss about. The doctors just missed something, probably. But it’s sure that there’s nothing wrong with Donghae.   Yoona also told Hyukjae she shouldn’t worry and everything will be alright. Hyukjae nodded but for some reasons she couldn’t bring herself to agree. She’s having these strange feelings that it isn't.   It is not okay.     -     Two days passed and Donghae’s still unconscious. Yoona’s starting to worry again, although she tried her best not to show her mother who’s already been anxious since day one, and has been constantly seen praying for his son. Heechul and the people from the scholar club paid their visit, and there’s a time on the evenings, when Hyukjae’s the one staying with Donghae, Lee Won Jun came and checked if everything’s okay.   Of course it’s not okay. Especially that the doctors, still, couldn’t come up with answers as to what’s really happening with Donghae. It’s frustrating. The fear of dealing with something none of them knows, the anxiety, the fret and most of all.. the waiting. Waiting on when will Donghae will really wake up.   When the days stretched over a week, and for the lack of conclusions on his current state, the doctors declared that Donghae was in a state of coma.   He’s not moving, unresponsive to any stimuli and had been basically just sleeping. The doctors had already consulted the higher designated physicians, but even they couldn’t come up with proper explanations.     On the twelfth day of Donghae being unconscious, Yoona shed a tear infront of her mother, and Mrs. Lee hugged her and together they prayed harder.   Heechul tried to contact some of the doctors in her family as well as the people from the Lees. Mr. Han took care of Donghae’s classes and curricular activities while Onew helped with Yoona’s, for the days the girl had to be absent to stay with her mother and Donghae. On the first day of the second week, some of Donghae’s teachers came to visit, followed by Donghae’s Physics Club and few of his classmates. The days got a little livelier despite the sadness of the situation because of the people who stopped by and cheered for the family. The nights though, were a different story.   Mrs. Lee spent the whole day staying with Donghae. Some days she’ll be with Yoona, and when evening comes, Hyukjae will appear and take the chair beside the bed, taking her turn to look for her boyfriend. Mrs. Lee didn’t question her when she volunteered for this, the woman knew just how much her son means for Hyukjae, and she knew Donghae himself would be happy if he wakes up and finds the girl by his side. When the clock strikes 4 in the morning, Mrs. Lee will arrive, and Hyukjae will go home to prepare for school. Most of the time, it actually takes Mrs. Lee a lot of persuasion for Hyukjae to leave. All these time Hyukjae just really want to stay with Donghae.   Unlike the days that were filled with families and friends coming for comfort and support, the evenings though, were always quiet and solemn. There were no classmates cracking a joke whenever a person’s going to tear up, nor a friend who’ll tap your back when you missed Donghae so much.   During the night Hyukjae’s all alone. Alone with Donghae. And the only thing she could do.. was to stare at his face.   Donghae’s beautiful, he had always been and Hyukjae knew that. Sometimes she’ll trace his eyebrows, his nose, his jawline, every part of his face until she’s contented.
