CHAPTER 34A It was utterly quiet. So soundless he was afraid they would hear the loud beating of his heart. Eunhyuk stared, although he knew it’s inappropriate. At that moment he forgot where he was, who he was with, what’s happening, or even himself. All he could see was the boy infront of him, partially blocked by his best friend but it didn’t matter for he could still see his face. Donghae’s looking back at him. The boy who could still make his heart do backflips and his body tremble. The boy in eye glasses and gentle gaze, the boy with thin lips and list of sweet things he wants to do with his girlfriend. The boy that once was his, the boy who would never be his. In his mind he wanted to believe that even if it all came down to this, even if he couldn’t own Donghae anymore, even if Donghae wouldn’t remember, the brunette would forever belong to Hyukjae. Not Eunhyuk, but Hyukjae. He is Hyukjae’s Donghae. “What are you up to?”, Yoona’s voice pulled him back from his thoughts. The girl’s sporting a frown, her arms crossed over her chest as she approached them. Once she’s near enough, Onew, Jinyoung and Gongchan immediately run on her side, ignoring Minho’s call on where they were going. Yoona kept the glare on their group, and Eunhyuk gulped because he hasn’t seen Yoona looked so intimidating. He was pleased and proud though, he knew Yoona could always stand for herself and moreover, her team. “Hey watch your—“ “Let’s go.”, Eunhyuk spoke just before Junhyung could finish his threat. The rest of the gang looked at him, utterly perplexed but he ignored their probing gazes. “B-But..” “I said. Let’s. Go.”, he repeated, this time emphasizing his every word and even started walking, with Hongki quickly following and the rest joined afterwards. Junhyung huffed, obviously displeased with Eunhyuk’s decision and additionally, on the fact that the real leader of their group and the school’s back. Eunhyuk halted a bit when he found Donghae again, the other staring back at him. His face was devoid of any emotion, and Eunhyuk bit his inner cheek because he longed for the times those same eyes will look at him with admiration and something as cheesy as love. They were gone. Because he’s not Hyukjae, and Donghae doesn’t even remember Hyukjae in the first place. He passed by Donghae without meeting his eyes, afraid he would give away something he shouldn’t or worse, he might scare the other away. He wasn’t expecting however, the harsh shove the pissed off Junhyung gave on Donghae just as he passed by him, sending the other stepping back a few steps as he held on his chest. Eunhyuk stopped on his tracks, his eyes wide as he had his gaze shifting from Junhyung and Donghae. His fist tightened, his jaw clenched and his eyes sting as he glared at Junhyung. Before his vision turned dark though, he was startled when Hongki’s face appeared right before him, asking him what was wrong. Eunhyuk blinked, staring at Hongki for a second then back to Junhyung who had one of his brows perked up. Lastly he searched for Donghae, who still holding on his chest as he stared at their bunch. Eunhyuk couldn’t make out if he’s hurt or not for the rest of the gang already crowded infront of him, pulling him out of the place. He could only hope he’s fine. For a second there he thought he could kill Junhyung. - Donghae pierced his classmates retreating backs with his stare. It wasn’t as if he’s badly hurt but he just couldn’t help but feel angry on how those bullies never changed, always the huge they’ve been. He noticed though, amongst the flock of black hair (and a blond-Hongki’s) was the flaming red hair. He hadn’t seen him for such a long time and now he’s back. Donghae’s quite baffled on how instead of feeling sorry that the worst of the pack was back he’s actually… relieved? But he couldn’t be. Because as far as he knew, Lee Eunhyuk was, is, and forever will be.. the worst person he had the misfortune to meet. - Nobody saw it coming, and it was evident on everyone’s faces when Eunhyuk suddenly pushed Junhyung, the latter’s back painfully hitting the wall. “What’s your problem?!”, he shouted, raging as he pressed his arm on Junhyung’s chest, his eyes glazing in anger. “Hyung!”, the other boys shouted but Eunhyuk’s too furious to listen. “What’s your problem?!”, Junhyung asked back, not after hissing from his back pain. “Hyung.. w-what’s wrong?”, a slightly trembling Hongki asked, hands holding on Eunhyuk’s arm that was on Junhyung’s torso. It effectively shook the redhead though as he slowly removed his arm and took a few steps back, staring blankly on nothing in specific, realization dawning on him. His friends looked at him, completely bewildered on why he’s acting strange. Junhyung, finally able to stand straight, a fist punching his hurt back softly frowned at him. “What the hell’s wrong with you, man?”, he asked and Eunhyuk shook his head, refusing to answer his question and turned his back, hands in his pockets. “Just stop this. All of this.”, he said quietly yet sternly. “What?”, Minho asked and Eunhyuk heaved a sigh, turning his body just enough so he could deliver his message as clearly as possible. “I want you guys to stop this. I’m telling you to stop this. The bullying, the threatening, the hitting of the weaklings just because we’re bored, let’s stop all of this.”, he said, eyes meeting each and everyone’s to show he’s serious. It was an utter silence until Junhyung started laughing, obviously finding Eunhyuk’s words ridiculous and were meant to be a joke. The rest of the boys followed him, even exchanging high fives and tapping Eunhyuk for such a good joke. Seconds passed and the laughter diminished, until it turned into grins, smiles, a few coughs, and then finally, straight faces mirroring Eunhyuk’s. “You can’t possibly be serious, are you?”, Seungri asked, his tone raising a little higher than the usual but the glaze from Eunhyuk had him shutting his mouth at once. The red
