Author’s POV

“No.”

Jung Yonghwa can’t let go, his hands won’t move away. Tears keep streaming down his face as he just can’t bear the thought of losing this precious girl again. He doesn’t know what to imagine if he let her walk away now and so, all he could do is holding her close to his chest as if she’s the most cherished thing that he has in his life.

“Yonghwa-ya, please –”

“I love you so much. Don’t leave me again.”

His sob breaks Shinhye’s heart. No, she doesn’t have the strength to push him away anymore. Now, she also cries with him, wrapping her arms around his body even tighter.

But not too long after that, he pulls her to face him, suddenly having a thought crossing his mind. Anything, just everything should be done only to be with her.

“Shinhye-ya, please come with me. We-we’ll bring your family as well. I, I know a place. We’ll leave now.” He spoke incoherently, still sniveling as Jindo and the grandparents’ home flashed into his mind but Shinhye’s face didn’t change.

“It’s not that easy… There’s no use. He’ll find us, no matter where we go. I’m sure.”

“We can. Why’re you so afraid of him? I can protect you, Shinhye-ya.” Yonghwa squeezes her arm, staring desperately into her sad eyes.

“No, I’m the one who can protect you.”

Yonghwa can already tell. The brat threated her. Never has he felt something as frustrating as this. If only everything would be easy but no, there’s always something that’ll break them.

“I can protect myself, you. I can protect your family. Trust me, nothing bad will happen. Let’s leave, Shinhye-ya.”

He kept mentioning about leaving that Shinhye feels even guiltier. She’s unsure, should she believe Yonghwa and leave this place with him? She would close her eyes and throw away everything just to be with this man before her but she’s still afraid.

“I-I don’t know…”

“Pack your things. I’ll pick you up tonight. I’m sure he won’t do bad things to your family for now. We’ll figure out a way to make him stay away from them. Okay?” He said while cupping her beautiful face.

Shinhye can’t say no as he leans in closer for another sweet kiss.

She snaps upon hearing her mother’s words when she entered her home. Noon’s already way passed and suddenly, a surge of horror hits her fearful soul.

No, she’s not ready to tell her mother yet. She can’t tell her that she’s leaving now. She can’t tell her that Kim Soohyun, her mother’s dearest future son in law is a monster who would do insane things that could hurt her and Yonghwa, and even her family.

It would be too sudden. She won’t believe her anyway.
