Whoever thought it was easy to fool Hanbin, was wrong. He out of everyone else, seemed to know everything. Even the most inconvenient details, such as the sudden closeness that had grown between his girlfriend and his own best friend. Yoonjo sat beside Hanbin, staring down at her hands. It had been two hours but none of them dares to speak. Yoonjo knew she couldn't simply break up with Hanbin. Where did all their love go?
The female leaned her head on the male's shoulder who pretended to be fooled by the sudden affection demonstration. He wasn't pleased but he knew he had been unfair to her lately. "Jiwon is coming over today." Hanbin informed, testing the female's reaction. She sighed quietly, slipping her hand in his, seeking comfort but there was comfort he could give out to her.
Gladly, he was saved by the bell that announced Jiwon's arrival. He couldn't be happier to see his best friend since he too was avoiding the fact he had to break up with the female. The second he opened the door, he smiled softly as he found his best friend grinning like an idiot, like usual. He could see why Yoonjo liked Jiwon so much. He didn't blame her.
Soon, the male had taken over the house as if it was his own, just like he did every time he came in. His eyes weren't surprised to see Yoonjo sitting by the couch; he showed her a troubled smile as he had found out their forbidden relationship hard to forget. "Sit, I will be right back. I gotta go buy something, I'll be back in ten." he informed, smiling softly before he left as he had planned to.
Jiwon took that opportunity to sit by the female. Her head rest over his shoulder. They needed no words to understand they felt guilty for their feelings. Especially the female. She did not plan to fall in love with her boyfriend's best friend. It happened. And she could blame Hanbin for that. If he did spend some more time with her, she wouldn't have fallen in love with Jiwon. Or at least the probability of falling for him would be smaller.
"He knows about this..." the male mumbled to the female. He could read his friend from. Hoe close they were. Hanbin was transparent to him, just like Yoonjo had started to be. "I have nothing to hide, Jiwon. He's my boyfriend, your best friend and we shouldn't even be feeling this." "We're not doing anything either." he fought back, feeling disappointed for not being able to call her his. She still belonged to his best friend, at least for now.
They were quiet for a while and whenever Hanbin was nearby, they tried their best to avoid each other, not that they did anything out of the acceptable zone when he wasn't around, they simply were a bit more comfortable when they spoke to each other but that was about it. Nothing else. The front door opened and the male in between their relationship came in without making any kind of noise "You know I love you." Jiwon suddenly confessed but the female didn't answer. Hanbin wasn't surprised to see the female holding onto his best friend, crying. His lips were pressed together as he realized how he was holding the female back and how he wasn't being fair when it came to her. The male decided to watch the female and his best friend interact, quietly as he was sure he needed to let go of her.
His eyes watched how Jiwon's arms wrapped around the female's figure carefully yet protectively. She was secure in his arms. The way he leaned his head on hers and cried to himself, along with her made Hanbin realise he needed to stop being selfish. He wanted to raise his voice and speak to them but he was nobody to interrupt them. He found no courage to do it.
"Maybe we should stop seeing each other, these feelings will probably go away." Yoonjo's voice quietly suggested as she pushed the male away with her hands, that rest over his chest. Hanbin stood still, knowing none of them was even going to notice him as they were too into their own world, trying to find out the better solution. Jiwon wiped the female's tears and cried them for her, nodding slightly "Probably. Hanbin is going through a lot right now. The least he needs is this..." he agreed, adding some more solid reasons to her argument. Just then, his eyes noticed the figure that had been standing right by the door; it was his best friend. He wasn't pissed like Jiwon imagined him to be. Instead, he wore a blank mask that for Jiwon was enough to point out his sadness and regret.
Yoonjo followed the male's eyes as she noticed he wasn't paying attention to her anymore and her eyes started to water at the sight of Hanbin. He was standing there, listening to them.. But for how long? Her stomach twisted when he took a step forward. He didn't look angry. He didn't look disappointed. He didn't look mad. Just sad. Simply tired and probably done with the ninety nine problems he had in his life, just to add another one. "We need to talk." his dry voice sounded and the female couldn't even remember how to answer him. Her mind was blank and not even the excuse he used of needing to buy something and coming back empty handed was enough to make her wake up.
He held out his hand, stretching out his arm fully so she could take it. The business he was going to expose to her wasn't private but he knew he needed to end their relationship properly. And that meant their relationship would have no third parties. Her hand took his, forcing her body off the couch, off Jiwon's embrace, where she felt the safest.
Hanbin lead the female to his room, closing the door behind him. She stood there, quiet as if she was afraid to make the smallest noise. Hanbin sighed heavily. He looked into her eyes, allowing her to see how bad he felt in that moment and how his next words affected him. Before he said anything, he cupped her cheeks and pulled the female into a passionate kiss, to which she responded but less passionately. She knew she loved him but not as a boyfriend. That love had faded away. She cared for him. She wanted to replace his lips for Jiwon's. She wanted to be able to feel free but she couldn't let go. After what seemed like an eternity for the female, Hanbin pulled away. Those few moments seemed like brief seconds, the seconds he would treasure. "Let's break up." he asked her but she never pictured him to be calm about it.
She threw her arms over his neck, hugging him tightly. His arms wrapped around her waist, hugging her tightly. They didn't need to speak. The female cried in his arms, sad that he had let her go but relieved. Heavy for the feelings she had inside of her but light over the huge weight off her shoulders. She felt free. She felt glad but slightly uncomfortable. "I love you." he whispered to the female who smiled through her tears, forcing herself to face the female "I love you too, Hanbin." her voice whispered as her thumb caressed his cheek rather gently.
He asked her to leave the room and wait for him in the living room with Jiwon. Soon she was into Jiwon's embrace, shutting her eyes tightly as she heard loud bangs. Hanbin was in his room punching everything that came to his eyes. Either punches or kicks were thrown around. He was frustrated. The male cried, knowing he had done the right thing, even if it hurt him the most.
Jiwon had slipped his hand into the female's, trying to comfort her "It's not your fault." he whispered to her, knowing there was nobody to blame for this. The male kept his eyes in the door, waiting for his best friend who soon came down, when he was calm enough. He didn't show any kind of happiness nor hard feelings. He knew he did the right thing but perhaps having them over was not a good choice.
His eyes landed on his two friends. They looked down for some reason. He knew they didn't want to hurt him but the fact his best friend was trying to make it right and adapt to the situation wasn't helping. It wasn't helping because he honestly noticed how the two of them were happy together. Because she was better off without him and because she was his ex. Whom he loved and cared for. It was probably the hardest thing to do; pretend he was okay in front of the two people he couldn't fool.
"You're better off with him." the male said out loud as his friends left. He took a look at his hands, wondering if the pain he was feeling in that moment was worth it. Maybe he was a fool for caring so much and probably being selfish would have been the better option for him. But then again, it felt like he had forced himself into her life. Jiwon had naturally taken his place, to which he didn't belong. He admired defeat and accepted the fact she never really belonged to him.
