Date Night

Dark Lake Academy

Sori watched Ravi as he walked beside her, a small smile on her face. The younger shifter looked so excited about taking her out on a date and that in turn made her feel at least a little excited. She knew not to expect too much, though. They couldn’t leave the base, only seasoned agents could do that. But she knew that Ravi would try his best to work around that.

“Here we are,” Ravi grinned, opening one of the doors that lead to a small courtyard like area with a bunch of trees.

“Why are we here?” Sori couldn’t help but ask, looking around.

The courtyard defiantly showed the signs of few people going there. The place was pretty darn unkempt. And yet Sori could see the signs that someone had been coming by recently to work on it. Taking a look at Ravi’s face, she had a feeling that it was all his work she was seeing.

“I found this place about a week after we came here,” he explained, taking Sori by the hand and leading her father in, “well, to be honest Hyuk found it. he wanted a nice place to change for the full moon, so Hongbin and I were helping him took. Hyuk smelled the trees and grass and followed them here. Since then, the three of us have been working to clean it up a little bit every chance we get.”

“They built this place for that reason,” Sori explained, trying to recall everything Jihu had told her about the courtyard, “for werewolves to change. They like to change in a more natural environment. But they took so long to build it that most werewolves just stopped caring. Then it was forgotten about.”

“That’s too bad,” Ravi frowned, “someone should take care of the trees and plants.”

“Someone does,” she smiled slightly, “you.”

“And Hongbin and Hyuk,” he smiled brightly, feeling very proud over the fact that he’d made Sori happy with his actions.

“So why have you brought me here?” Sori asked again, “what do you have planned?”

“Just wait,” Ravi laughed, “you’ll find out in a second, just follow me.”

Sori nodded before silently following Ravi into the courtyard. The father in they got, the nicer the place looked. Clearly, Ravi, Hongbin, and Hyuk had left the area by the door looking bad in order to make people want to avoid the place. Knowing that kind of made her feel like she was intruding on something she shouldn’t.

“Are Hongbin and Hyuk ok with you bringing me here?” she couldn’t help but ask.

“Yeah,” he nodded, “actually, it was Hongbin’s idea to bring you here. I wanted to use another room, but he kept insisting that this place was perfect.”

“I hope he’s right,” Sori smiled slightly.

“Here we are,” Ravi grinned, moving some branches so that Sori had a clear view of the picnic he had set up earlier.

“Ravi,” Sori gasped, “this is……”

She honestly didn’t know what to say. The whole set up screamed that Ravi had put a lot of work into it, clearly wanting to impress her. No one had ever done something like that for her. Even Kris when they were dating didn’t put that much effort into dates. Mostly, he just snuck off campus or base and brought back take out or something like that. But this…….Ravi had tried.

“Do you like it?” Ravi asked, wondering if the lack of words meant that she didn’t like it.

Not only did Ravi have no dating experience, but he had no one to ask for advice. Leo and Ken had no dating experience and neither did Hongbin or Hyuk. He didn’t really want to go to Kris since the dragon was Sori’s ex-boyfriend.  He wasn’t close enough to the others to ask – well, he didn’t think he was close enough to them. And as for N……..even if the older teen had experience, Ravi didn’t feel right about asking someone he knew liked Sori for tips about taking her out on a date.

“It’s nice,” Sori smiled, “thank you. No one has done something like this for me before.”

“Not even Kris?” Ravi questioned, feeling proud that his first attempt at a date was better than anything Kris had done.

“No,” Sori laughed slightly, “he’s never been one for big romantic gestures.”

“Let’s eat,” Ravi said, taking Sori’s hand and leading her over to the blanket, “I asked Hyuna about some of your favorite foods, not sure if she figured out why I was asking.”

“Trust me,” Sori giggled, “she knows. If Yuri didn’t tell her, she’d of read your emotions and figured it out.”

“Right,” Ravi blushed slightly for forgetting that fae could do that, “forgot about that. she’s probably known I liked you longer than I’ve known.”

“Probably,” Sori laughed, “but if you really want to feel embarrassed, Luhan is even better at reading people’s emotions. He knew Chen had a crush on Heesun before Chen realized he was even starting to like her.”

“Chen likes Heesun?” Ravi questioned before mentally hitting himself for bringing up other people’s relationships while on a date with Sori. He should be focusing on their relationship.

“From what Luhan can gather,” Sori nodded, “and Xiumin in convinced of it, too.”

“Why hasn’t he asked her out?” Ravi asked, his own curiosity too strong to silence. Besides, talking about stuff like that would keep Sori’s mind off the sad things in her life and that was exactly what Ravi wanted to do; keep her mind on happy things.

“Chen is……stubborn,” Sori explained, “Especially when it comes to emotions. Maybe it’s because of the crap he’s gone through, but he’s become determined to never feel things like love. Well, romantic love.”

“Why?” Ravi asked. Come to think of it, he didn’t know much about Chen’s past, nor Kai’s and he was good friends with the younger Kim brother.

“Can’t say,” Sori explained, “partly because it’s not my place and partly because I don’t know everything myself. What I can say is that Chen and Kai have gotten a front seat to see how love can hurt a person. Kai’s not that bitter over it, but Chen is. He’s,” a look of realization and understanding appeared on her face as she thought about Chen and his problems, “…….actually he’s kind of like me now that I think about it.”

“How?” Ravi asked, now curious for a whole other reason.

“We both have seen and felt the pain of being hurt by someone you love,” Sori sighed sadly, “and I guess you could say that we’ve let that pain control us. Maybe……….maybe we’ve let it control us so long that we…………we don’t know how to change.”

“That’s why you have friends,” Ravi told her, “that’s why you let people in. Because they can help you learn how to change.”

“That’s sweet,” Sori flashed him a bitter smile, “but I’m not sure if you can fix someone as broken as me.”

“I would like to try,” Ravi replied, taking Sori’s hand, “will you let me try?”

Sori regarded him for a long moment before nodding.

“Alright,” she said, “I’ll try.”

Ravi grinned before turning his attention to the food he had gotten ready for the picnic. Sori watched him carefully as he got everything out, explaining what some things were as he did. Ravi was…….special. He had a warm and kind heart and Sori felt drawn to that. Maybe it was because some part of her subconscious recognized him as someone who could help her, someone who could fix her. Or maybe she felt drawn to him for another reason, one she wasn’t ready to acknowledge.

Regardless of why she felt drawn to him, she meant what she had said. She would give Ravi the chance to fix her. Well, she would try anyway. There were some parts of her that she strongly suspected where too broken to ever be fixed. But she would try, she would be open to his help.

“So?” Ravi asked, “What do you want to start with?”

“How about…….,” Sori looked over the containers, observing everything inside, “this?”

“Looks good,” Ravi smiled, “that’s one of my favorites, actually.”

“Really?” Sori took a sniff, “smells good.”

“It tastes good too,” Ravi grabbed a fork and passed it to the older shifter, “try.”

The rest of the night went on much the same, the pair talking and trying the foods that Ravi had prepared. The two stayed in the courtyard long after the food was gone, too caught up in talking to realize how late it was. Ravi kept asking Sori about life at Dark Lake before he’d come along and she kept asking him about life before finding out he was a supernatural being. Eventually, sleep overcame the pair and they fell asleep on the blanket.

“Oh?” Jihu smiled slightly when he found them early the next morning, “looks like Kris was right. Hopefully………hopefully you’ll be good for her, Wonsik.” The agent left then, deciding to let the pair rest in peace for a few more hours.

A/N: I hope you guys liked everything. I think that Ravi and Sori’s date was rather cute, but I’m the one who wrote it so…..my opinion isn’t really all that valid.
