CHAPTER 27

 

“Wait here, I’ll go and check in for my ticket.” Sungmin nodded and waits patiently while Siwon walked towards the counter.

 

She holds onto Siwon’s briefcase and luggage firmly so that it will not get lost. They are at the Incheon airport for Siwon’s another business trip out of country. Ever since Sungmin become the lover, she will try to spend her time to send Siwon. Furthermore, if she did not, Siwon might sulk for days.

 

“UNNIE!”

 

“Ahh!”

 

Sungmin screamed out of shock by the sudden hug. In reflex, she turned behind and widened to see three teenagers grinning at her.

 

“Jinnie?”

 

“Hi, noona.” The said boy greeted casually.

 

“Wh…what are you doing here? Aren’t the three of you…”

 

“SURPRISE!” they cheered with different tone used altogether.

 

Sungmin opened to say something but restrained from saying anything because the grin on their face has shown everything. She smiles back at them.

 

“Seriously…umma and appa are going to nag once they knew about this.” She scolded.

 

They didn’t feel remorse at all by Sungmin’s scolding but laughed instead.It was then, Siwon interrupted, confused by the people surrounding Sungmin.

 

“Ah, oppa, this is my little brother, Sungjin. Her friend, Amber and also Henry. He is Mr Kim’s brother.” Sungmin introduced.

 

Each one of them waved to Siwon when Sungmin said their name.

 

“Mr Kim? Kangin’s hyung brother?” Henry nodded his head when Siwon pointed him, “Oh, I never knew you were friends with each other too.”

 

“We never make a fuss of it.” Sungjin replied arrogantly.

 

“Attention…”

 

They were all alerted by the announcement through the speaker. It’s a call for Siwon to get ready and board the plane.

 

“I…have to get on board now. Do you want me to ask for someone to come and send you home, Minnie?”

 

Sungmin shakes her head, “It’s okay oppa. I’ll just drive.”

 

“Are you sure…”

 

“Yes, I’m sure. Come, I’ll send you off.” She cuts Siwon’s words and pulls his hands towards the departure gate.

 

“Okay. See you again, kids.” Siwon waved and he and Sungmin walked together.

 

The kids look at each other.

 

“Minnie unnie’s boyfriend is so cool!” Amber exclaimed excitedly while the boys just sighed by the truth.

 

Siwon and Sungmin reached the departure stand, still holding hand. Their gazes locked with each other, savoring the moment. Siwon let out a sigh, depressed.

 

“I really am going to miss you so much, Minnie baby.” Siwon professed, hugging Sungmin firmly to his arms to remember the warmth.

 

Sungmin giggled. She allowed herself to be held for a while before detaching herself gently.

 

“We will meet again, oppa. I’m sure.” Assured Sungmin, still with some laughter.

 

Siwon half-heartedly let go of the hug, and staring sadly into Sungmin’s eyes.

 

“I love you so much, baby.” Siwon said again, never taking his eyes away from the other.

 

Sungmin smiles, “And I to you too, my horsey.” Replied her while caressing Siwon’s cheeks gently.

 

Siwon gave a peck on Sungmin’s lips, “I’ll call you.”

 

Sungmin nodded her head approvingly. With heavy heart, Siwon let go of her hands and pulled his bag away. Sungmin waited, waved and watched until Siwon’s figure disappears by the boarding line. A smile never passed from her lips. Her heart a bit aches with the parting. She can’t wait to meet with Siwon again.

 

She turned back to the awaiting teenagers and blushed immediately upon seeing the lopsided grin on each of them.

 

“Don’t give me that face.” She scolded, looking as serious as she can be though failed.

 

“Wooo…a kiss…” they teased altogether.

 

A tint of pink appeared on Sungmin’s face.

 

“No comment. Let’s just go to my car.”

 

The kids laughed and followed Sungmin right behind.

“Hi?” Henry and Sungjin waved awkwardly to their mothers who really got a hell of shock with their sudden arrival.

 

“Ahhh!!” Donghae, Insook and Kyunghee screamed out loud.

 

Sungjin and Henry had to cover their ears by the loud voice. Just before they managed to recover from the scream, once again they were shock by a tight hug from the three women.

 

“YOU’RE BACK! I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!” They screamed hysterically, showing a total excitement by the surprise.

 

Sungmin who’s standing not too far from them, laughed at the reaction. The mothers were really excited with their arrival. It has been long since the last time their son got some holiday, so the meeting was an absolute happiness for them. Sungmin glanced beside and sees Amber staring intensely at the happy family. Her eyes looked moist and somehow, she could understand the reason why. Without much saying, Sungmin moves closer to Amber and hugged her. Amber jumped a bit, quite surprise by the sudden hug.

 

“Unnie’s here.” She said.

 

Amber’s eyes glassed. She was greatly touched by the gentleness and understanding from Sungmin. She nodded her head and hugged Sungmin back thankfully.

 

“Thank you…unnie.” She whispered in the warmth.

 

Sungmin understood clearly why Amber is sad to the see the scene of reunion between the boys and the mothers. She knew the story from her brother, Sungjin. Amber was borne from a normal family. She used to have a mother before. But, when she was four years old, the mother passed away because of an illness. Her father was the one who brought her up alone. She has no problem in it actually because her father is kind and always spoils her around.

 

But, being a normal human being and girl, she can’t help to feel jealous whenever she sees her friends with a mother. Most of the time, she will isolated herself and didn’t care much about the surroundings. That’s why she pretended to be a tomboy. She didn’t want anyone to see her true self, so she hid it behind that sort of attitude. But, something changed when she went abroad to study. There, she met with Sungjin and Henry. Those two were really strange she admitted the first impression she had. She herself feels strange with the reason why she befriended with Sungjin and Henry in the first place. But, soon after she spent most of their time together, she didn’t care much about the reason anymore. In fact, she’s actually really grateful that they are willing to accept her as herself not the other way around.

 

“Do you want to join us for dine, Amber dear?” Insook invited.

 

“Well, I’m honor for the invitation but I really need to go, aunties. I need to go and meet with my father. He…might be furious if he found me from some other people.” She declined politely.

 

“That’s your punishment for surprising us.” Kyunghee teased.

 

“Hehehe…it doesn’t hurt much.” She grinned.

 

“Sadly. But, next time come to our house for dinner okay? I’m sure my husband would welcome you.” Donghae invited.

 

Amber nodding her head eagerly. She’s really touched with the mothers’ concern. It makes her feels at home.

 

“Umma, sorry…” Sungmin came rushing towards them, “I need to go back to the office. My boss needs me for something.”

 

“You’re not going to join us?” the mothers asked, sounds devastated.

 

Sungmin smiled at them before shaking her head, “Sorry.” she said apologetically, “Amber, do you want to come with me? Your father’s company is on my way.”

 

“Okay unnie!” she agreed right away.

 

With that, Sungmin and Amber bid a due to the others and hurriedly went off to the office. After a very enjoyable and quick conversation with Sungmin in the car, Amber and Sungmin finally arrived at her father’s company. Just in time as they walked at the front door, her father came forward from the other side.

 

“DADDY!!!” Amber called loudly, ignore all the shocking eyes watching especially the said person.

 

“Amber?!”

 

Amber runs happily towards her father and crushed him into bear hug.

 

“I miss you daddy!!”

 

“What the…”

 

“I’m home!” she exclaimed, cutting her father’s words.

 

Kris gaped. His head slowly processed what happened, staring at the girl strangely.

 

“Good afternoon, Mr Wu.” A sweet voice greeted him and he was welcomed with Sungmin’s smiling face when he turned up.

 

“Sungmin.”

 

“Unnie’s the one who send me here, daddy.” Amber voluntarily answered the confusion on his face.

 

Kris opens his mouth but to shut it again dejectedly. He sighed.

 

“This brat…” he said, ruffling Amber’s hair messily making the girl laughed.

 

“Hahaha daddy, stop it…”

 

A smile spread on his face. He’s happy. Of course he’s happy. His only daughter has finally come home. And to see the smile on her face, make him feel grateful with her existence in his life.

 

“Sorry to bother you, Sungminie. I will pay it back to you anyhow. Just tell me.” He apologized, smiling apologetically towards Sungmin.

 

Sungmin flashed a smile, and shakes her head, “It’s not a bother at all, Mr Wu. She comes home together with my brother, so, it’s on the same way.”

 

“Do you have work now? Come and eat lunch with us.” He invited.

 

“Ah, sorry Mr Wu, I can’t accept the offer. I really need to get back to office fast. My boss wants me.” She reasoned.

 

“Is that so? Maybe next time then.”

 

Sungmin nodded agreeing to the proposition.

 

“I’ll take my leave now.”

 

“See you again unnie!” Amber crushed her into a hug and planted a kiss.

 

Sungmin laughed, “See you again too, Amber dear.” She patted her head gently.

 

Sungmin bowed a little to Kris and slowly retreated herself from the office. He turned slowly to his daughter.

 

“So…tell me again why you are here?” Kris narrowed his eyes looking straight at the girl.

 

Amber grinned awkwardly, she knew she has to be prepared for the upcoming nag later.

Sungmin already knew Henry back when Sungjin started enrolled in his school. And she knew Amber from the first time when she went for a visit at Sungjin’s school. But, just like Kyuhyun, she didn’t know that they are actually related to her parent. Fate seems to have some other reason to why she become close to two of them. But, she was really indeed happy with their relationship. She treated all three of them like a real sibling and always be there whenever they need anything. And that is one of the reasons why the teenagers LOVE Sungmin so much.

 

Back to each and every parents, they were really happy with their children coming back home. Each one of them celebrated their arrival in their own way. Different but almost the same altogether.

 

“This brat!” Hyukjae tackled his son playfully, “How dare you make a surprise like this!”

 

“Appa! Please! I’m sorry! Spare me!” he begged for mercy.

 

“Why didn’t you tell us anything huh?” he asked, crossing his arm, faking annoyed.

 

“Err…” Sungjin think long.

 

Hyukjae wasn’t really angry. In fact, he is glad that Sungjin is home safe and sound. But he admitted that he was worried with his sudden arrival, especially since he came back from a foreign country. But, knowing his son craziness some times, he has nothing to say against it.

 

“Oh, come on appa. You can’t actually be angry just because I didn’t tell you right?”

 

Sungjin widened his eyes, pleading cutely for forgiveness.

 

“I am.”

 

“Ah.”

 

Hyukjae’s quick reply renders the boy speechless. His eyes fast scanned around to plead for some help which is landed on his sister, Sungmin. Sungmin was holding her laugh when she sees his pleading eyes. She shook her head, faking a signal of not helping.

 

“Noona!” Sungjin whined aloud.

 

“It’s your fault for not telling us in the first place.” Sungmin retorted.

 

Sungjin sighed.

 

“Okay…I’m sorry appa…I promise…I will tell you the next time I want to come home.” He pouted.

 

Hyukjae and Sungmin turned to look at each other. They smirked.

 

“Tackle time!” they in perfect harmony attack Sungjin and wrestled.

 

Sungjin laughed loudly. Not only because his father is tickling him, but also join with his sister which make him out of hands to fight back. The three of them laughed happily while being watched by Donghae not too far from there.

 

“Sungmin must be really happy, right madam?” the head maid commented.

 

Donghae nodded.

 

“Sungjin is her happiness after all.” She said.

 

“You are happy too, right?”

 

Donghae chuckles lightly, “Who wouldn’t nanny. My one and only son, Sungjin has finally come back. And Sungmin will most certainly stay at home now with his arrival. She could never deny her baby brother’s request the most. Our family is complete now.” She said proudly.

 

The head maid nodded approvingly by the side.

 

“Should we cook something special for them?”

 

Donghae chuckles, “We shall.”

 

With that, Donghae and the head maid started making plan and cook special dinner for the family. Sungmin came to help them after that. True to be said, she is really happy with Sungjin’s presence. They are only two siblings in the Lee family. So, they treasured each other so much.

 

“Noona? Are you on leave tomorrow?” Sungjin suddenly asked.

 

“On leave? Why?”

 

“Why? Because I’m home of course. You are not that heartless to leave me alone in this mansion right? If you’re working…appa busy working and umma busy ‘working’…I will be all alone doing nothing. My vacation will be meaningless.” He complained, purposely sounding sad.

 

Sungmin laughed.

 

“Sorry to disappoint you, baby brother, but I can’t take a sudden leave tomorrow.”

 

Sungjin’s face fell.

 

“I will be busy starting tomorrow for our company’s new project. And…don’t blame me on this. If you tell me about you’re coming home earlier, I will surely ask for a leave.” She reasoned.

 

Sungjin sulked after Sungmin’s explanation.

 

“Unfair…” he says in disappointment, shoulders slumping down with a pout.

 

Donghae and Hyukaje shake their head by their son’s childish attic.

 

“But, I’ll come as early as possible tomorrow.”

 

The brother’s ears perked immediately by Sungmin’s statement.

 

“We’ll watch a movie together.” Sungmin suggested, winking at him.

 

“YES!”

 

Sungjin cheered happily.

 

“Hey hey, that’s unfair.” Hyukjae suddenly interrupted his children’s conversation.

 

“How come you’re agreeing to spend time with him even though you’re busy but, not the other way around with me?” He complained in jealousy.

 

“Aish, appa. Stop being a jealous ahjussi. Noona loves me the most, admit that.” Sungjin teased, sticking his tongue out.

 

“Admit what? My baby girl loves me more than you, son. Accept it.” Hyukjae argued back.

 

Sungjin narrowed his eyes. He started an eye-battle with his own father fiercely. He knew the fact that Hyukjae is right but to accept it is really not his thing.

 

“Alright, alright enough you two.” Donghae interrupted before anything, “Why must you fight over such thing.”

 

Both of the men pout unconsciously.

 

Donghae smirked and hugs Sungmin the shoulder, “My baby girl LOVES me more!”

 

“HAE!”                  “UMMA!”

 

They protested but laughed off by Donghae instead. Sungmin also followed to laugh.

 

My family is complete now.

 

She said to herself mentally with a smile continually spreading.
