CHAPTER 17

The flight took only few hours for them to safely arrive in Japan. It was not awkward but not enjoyable flight but everything is just perfect for them. Since they knew they had to work after, they used the time on plane to properly rest themselves. Kyuhyun helped Sungmin taking her luggage and together they went to the hotel. They didn’t talk much about anything else except work along the way. Their client just called and requested for the specific time for the next meeting. Because of that also, they seated at the hotel lobby for 3 hours for Sungmin to explain about the proposal to Kyuhyun and finished everything before they separated and moved to each room.

Just later that night, Kyuhyun was dozing off staring at the room’s ceiling not knowing what to do. Not so long after that, his stomach grumbled looking for food. He then realized he and Sungmin hasn’t eaten anything decent yet ever since they landed in Japan. After some thought, he got himself ready and texted a message to the girl.

After that, Kyuhyun walks lazily towards Sungmin’s room just right in front of him. He rings the bell and waits patiently for her to open the door. He wanted Sungmin to join him for dinner that night, since there are only the two of them after all. The door slowly creaked open, and Sungmin appears, her hair wet and a towel on her shoulder.

“Kyu?” Sungmin seems surprised to see him standing there.

Kyuhyun frown, “Didn’t you read my message?” Sungmin shake her head slow.

Kyuhyun roll his eyes and he sighed, tiredly“Let’s have dinner.”

He invites almost ordering to the girl to go out.

“Dinner? Ah but, I’m not yet ready and actually…” Sungmin sound hesitated.

“You already ate?” Kyuhyun dejectedly asks, a pout appeared on his face.

“No, not yet.But, I was about to. Might be.” She answers, and paused to think, “Just come inside first. I’ll get ready fast.” She indirectly agreed.

Sungmin opens the door wider and invites the man inside. Kyuhyun hummed and walks inside the room leisurely. Just after a few steps in the room, he breathes in unconsciously, smelling something sweet inside.

Sungmin’s sweet smell. He commented to his inner side.

There was a lingering smell of shampoo and perfume inside the room. It was a smell that belong to the owner of the room, Sungmin and a smell that he likes the most.He admitted he does sound erted, but as long as Sungmin oblivious about that, nothing is matter.  

“I’ll get ready in the washroom. Why do you just kill some time talking to Kangin oppa first?” Sungmin said, taking out him from the delusional world.

“Kangin?” he repeated the name, confused for sure.

He turned wanting to ask Sungmin but the girl has already disappeared.

“Hey Kyuhyun.” Kyuhyun jumped out of shock by the sudden greeting.

His eyes fast scanned inside the room, panicked and there he saw Kangin waving at him, smiling his sheepish smile, inside the LAPTOP!

“Hyung!?”

“Hey again?”

“What are you doing? I mean…why…how…just what the hell are you doing inside that hyung?” Kyuhyun stammered, obviously surprised.

Kangin burst laughing from the other side by Kyuhyun’s ridiculous question. He’s having fun seeing the flustered look on Kyuhyun’s face. Kyuhyun frowned at him controlling his anger.

“I’m just having a conversation with my PA, Kyu.” He reasoned.

“Conversation? Do you really need to do that? Right now?”

“Why? What’s wrong with that?” Kangin asked him back.

“Because working hour is over and you are miles away, hyung. What’s the need of talking when we already finish every work? And, you do know it’s night time now.” he retorted, giving his own reasons even though it sounded very silly to the ears listening.

Kangin laughs even more. Sometimes, Kyuhyun really doesn’t make sense in talking. He didn’t see anything wrong with him talking to Sungmin but he understood what the brother is trying to say. Still, it looked so amusing whenever Kyuhyun is overprotective of Sungmin. Seeing the grin mocking him, makes Kyuhyun angrier and he huffed without his notice.

“I don’t see anything wrong with that.” Kangin defended, purposely sound sarcastic.

Kyuhyun groaned at him.

“Hyung!” he protested.

Kangin laughs again, “Don’t talk about me. How about you, Kyuhyun?” he give the question right back to the younger.

“What about me?” he asked, a bit confused.

“You do know that you’re in a girl’s room right?” Kangin remarked.

Kyuhyun became tense by the obvious remark, not like he wants to.

“You are in her room, in the middle of night, alone and the girl is inside the washroom. A boy and a girl in one room is a crime you know, especially since they have no relationship with each other. There’s a lot can do in just few minutes anyway. And it must smell nice in Sungmin’s room, right Kyu? This is Sungmin we talk about, after all. Furthermore, you are in overseas…far away from us. Can that be called as crime?” Kangin teased.

Kyuhyun’s face turned bright red in split second due to the embarrassment. Everything said by Kangin absolutely making Kyuhyun so wordless to talk back against him. Talk about sharp tongue inherited from the family.

“And now…”

“Kyu?” Kyuhyun fast turned to hear his name called.

Kangin didn’t get to finish his sentence because by Sungmin’s voice. Sungmin has finished changing her clothes. She was wearing a sky blue loose shirt, her hair tie up into a ponytail showing her shoulder at one side and a jean, wrapping her beautiful leg beautifully.  Kyuhyun didn’t understand why but, his face blushed madly after he saw Sungmin. It was maybe mainly because of the teasing from the elder brother just now and the almost-half-y Sungmin standing in front of him.

“What’s wrong with your face, Kyu? You’re bright red.”Sungmin stated, making Kyuhyun blushed even more.

“Nothing! There’s nothing happen!” He abruptly got up from his seat and took a deep breath.

His eyes once again scanned Sungmin from head to toe, “I’ll wait for you outside.” He mumbled and stomped his feet away in rush, confusing Sungmin.

“Just what is wrong with him?” Sungmin asked herself and when she looked at the laptop, she saw Kangin was laughing hard holding his stomach.

“Oppa? Did something happen?” she confusedly asked the elder.

“Hahahaha…nothing Minnie…”Kangin said, wiping off the tears from his eyes, “ Kyuhyun was just being ‘naughty’. Don’t worry much about it.” He added, holding himself from laughing more.

“Eh? Are you sure? His face was…”

“He’s fine, Ming. I see that you’re all ready to go out now.” Kangin changed the topic and Sungmin answered with a hum and nodding her head.

“Sort of.”

“Just call me if there’s anything. My time is always available for you.”

Sungmin smiled widely by the offer, “Okay, oppa.”

“Have fun at dinner too. Eat something expensive, Kyuhyun is very rich, you know.”

Sungmin nodded her head adorably. After exchanging a few more words, they abide due and Sungmin went outside to meet with the waiting Kyuhyun.

“Finished?”

“All ready.” Sungmin replied to him, slinging the bag on her shoulder.

Kyuhyun gave her a smile, “Let’s go then.” And he walked side by side with the girl.

Just as they are about to reach the elevator, his phone vibrated inside his pocket. He fished it out and read the message inside. It was from Kangin.

‘Behave yourself Kyuhyun. Don’t get just by Sungmin’s sweet smell.’

“HYUNG!!”

“Ahhh!” Sungmin jumped by the loud and sudden shout from him, “Just what’s wrong with you?!” she asked yelling at him, rubbing her chest out of shock.

“Nothing! Let’s just get going!” he yelled back and get inside the elevator, leaving Sungmin agape with the situation.

I hate you, hyung! He scolded inside his heart.

Kyuhyun’s face was extremely red. He tried his best to hide it from Sungmin. Kangin’s joke really making him MAD!

Meanwhile Kangin on the other part of the world was laughing hard alone by himself. He could totally imagine how Kyuhyun would look like after reading the text. He did have so much fun teasing his grumpy little brother. It spices his day to the fullest and he didn’t regret a bit doing so.

~AT THE RESTAURANT~

“Here.” Kyuhyun put a piece of meat inside Sungmin’s plate.

“You should eat a lot.” He said, answering the girl’s unspoken question that was written on her face.

Sungmin pouted. But, she still eats the meat deliciously. It is her favorite food after all.

They actually had an argument again after they reach the first floor of the hotel room. Kyuhyun wanted to eat at an expensive restaurant but Sungmin rejected the idea by saying there will be none available that late. She offered to eat some ramen instead but then it was Kyuhyun who absolutely hated the idea. In the end, they decided to walk around near the hotel and after few minutes of walking, they finally stopped at one small restaurant. Luckily, the taste of the food there were very appetizing, so everything was totally worth it.

Ding

Another message arrived on Sungmin’s phone. She right away looked at it, and smile. She didn’t notice but Kyuhyun has been watching actually.

Just who is it that dare to disturb my alone time with Sungmin? She even looks so and extremely happy just by the message. Damn it. Kyuhyun nagged inside, stuffing the food into his mouth forcefully to distract himself.

Truthfully, he was upset. The Sungmin that he knew has really changed compare to before. He couldn’t blame it on anyone on that matter because anyone will change someday, and it makes him more upset knowing the fact. He sulked, trying to put all his focus to the food. But, the smiles and chuckles from Sungmin seriously making him eyes twitch every time.

“Who is it?” he asked his question from the mind out loud.

“Eh?” Sungmin looks at him confusingly.

“You have been texting someone right? Just who is it that is able to make you so unfocused while eating like this. You aren’t like this before. Remember the fact that you only replied to my message only after a day?” He nagged at her, expressing his dissatisfaction.

Sungmin stared at him confusingly. She didn’t expect that from Kyuhyun. She didn’t even realize what she did was actually noticed by Kyuhyun before. Sungmin giggled. And it was Kyuhyun’s turn that became confused by her reaction.

“It’s Wookie, Kyu. It is no one else that you should concern about. She is my best friends after all, it’s not wrong right? And for your note, I didn’t reply to your texts before because I know you are not single, a.k.a someone’s boyfriend which I should not bother much. I don’t want to be a cause to a couple stupid fights.” Sungmin makes excuses which were true though.

Kyuhyun narrowed his eyes at her sarcastic answer. It stabbed him to the core.

“Seriously…you really are unbelievable.” He mumbled, upset.

“You said it about me or yourself, Kyu?” Sungmin smirk, didn’t want to give up the tongue-battle.

Kyuhyun faked a laugh and stares at Sungmin, with burning eyes, “So, funny Lee Sungmin. I never knew you had a sharp tongue.”

Sungmin did the same, “You never sees me thoroughly, Kyu. Don’t ever think you know everything about me just because you’re my ‘best friend’.”

They stared at each other, gritting teeth and if special-effect is real, anyone could almost see the electricity twitching between them. But, the battle didn’t take long because suddenly Kyuhyun’s phone started to ring. They growled like a fighting catsfor the last time and Kyuhyun took out his phone to answer it.

“Yes, mom.” He said, simply.

“Kyu baby! Do you miss me?” the mother asked from the other side.

Kyuhyun sighed, “We just met this morning mom.” He replied, continued eating his food.

“You don’t?” her mother’s voice flattened, sounding sulking.

“No, mom. I miss you too.” Kyuhyun corrected his mistake, already feels tired to talk back against his mother.

Mrs Cho chuckles. She can almost picture the look on Kyuhyun’s face while talking to her. But, he is her son after all.

“What do you want for calling me this late, mom?”

“Ah, is pumpkin with you? Can you give the phone to her?” she said, finally showing her true intention of the call.

“Sungmin? Yes. Why?”

“Just give the phone to her, Kyuhyun. I need to talk about girl’s thing.” She commanded.

“Fine. Fine.”  He replied tiredly, “Here.” And he shoved the phone to Sungmin face directly.

“What?”

“Mom wants to talk to you.”

“Mom? Cho umma?” Kyuhyun nodded to her question.

Sungmin frowned in puzzled. But she took the phone slowly from Kyuhyun nonetheless.

“Hello, Cho umma. Em. Eating dinner out with Kyuhyun. Me? In Japan…why?” Sungmin answers every question asked politely.

She laughed happily and casually having a fun conversation with Kyuhyun’s mother leaving him out of the topic. Kyuhyun keep on watching and eating. He sometimes helped Sungmin to eat by spoon feed her. Sungmin refused it at first because she was embarrassed by the other people looking. But, Kyuhyun didn’t give up and insisting to feed her. She pouted adorably as a protest sign but eat what was given to her.

Their cat fight was totally forgotten just like that. Kyuhyun was grateful that his mom called to interrupt. It makes his life easier and also, his relationship grew closer. He unconsciously grinned seeing the smile on Sungmin’s face. And even though he didn’t know what they were talking about, he can guess that his mother was sharing her story of the day to Sungmin. Well, that what he know his mom will do anyway.

Kyuhyun continued watching Sungmin with a happy grin on his face. He didn’t need to hide the smile because everyone can see how happy he was just to be next to Sungmin. He did have fun even though Sungmin did most talking with his mother only. Their dinner finally over when it was very late. Kyuhyun being the gentleman, escorted Sungmin till she safely reached her room and they said goodbye to each other, a smile continue on blooming all night. A nice start and good day for both of them.
