CHAPTER 26

 

Few hours of panicking here and there, thankfully, a baby was born safely into the world. Seohyun and her husband shed a happy tear as they heard the first cry. Kyuhyun and Sungmin whom are also there watching the touching moment couldn’t help from feeling the same. They smiled at each other and sighed.

 

“So…tell me again, how did you and Seohyun ended up with each other?” Kyuhyun asked, finally has the change to ask the question.

 

Sungmin laughed softly.

 

“She came to the café. We talked and suddenly, she screamed of giving birth.” Sungmin explained, shortened the whole story.

 

Kyuhyun chuckled.

 

“That easy? Well, it’s very sudden.”

 

A silence enveloped them. Both of their mind wanders elsewhere when Seohyun’s husband, Yonghwa came walking towards them.

 

“Thank you, thank you so much for helping my wife. Thank you!” He thanked, take turn shaking hands with Kyuhyun and Sungmin eagerly.

 

“I’m very happy! Thank you so much!” he said again, hugging Kyuhyun tight this time.

 

“You’re…welcome…” Kyuhyun groaned by the tight hug.

 

“You too!”

 

“Opps!” Kyuhyun grabbed the man by the neck just before he launched to hug Sungmin next, “Me hug, ok. Her? No no.” he warned, staring deadly at the man.

 

“Ah…okay…” Yonghwa hesitantly nodding his head, obeyed.

 

“Anyway, really thank you!” he holds Sungmin’s hand instead.

 

Sungmin laughed, feeling amused by Yonghwa’s action.

 

“We’re just helping what we can. Is she okay now, Yonghwa-ssi?”

 

“Yes, she’s okay. The baby too. Ah, wait…you called…my name. Did you recognize me?” Yonghwa questioned confusingly, with Kyuhyun also confused staring at Sungmin.

 

Sungmin nodded, “Of course I knew. You’re Jung Yonghwa. The leader of CNBLUE band, right?” she answered.

 

Kyuhyun and even Yonghwa widened by the recognition.

 

“Yonghwa who?” Kyuhyun asked.

 

“Ouch, that’s hurt.” Yonghwa counterfeit a pain.

 

Sungmin hit Kyuhyun’s shoulder lightly, “What?” he complained.

 

Sungmin gave him a death stare. She smiled apologetically to Yonghwa.

 

“Kyu, let me introduce you. This is Jung Yonghwa, an idol recognized by both Korean and Japanese fan. He’s very popular you know. Also, I know you because Hyun told me about you just before these happen.”

 

Yonghwa’s nose raised up high by Sungmin’s praised.

 

“Also, Yonghwa-ssi. This is Cho Kyuhyun. He is Seohyun’s…”

 

“Ex-boyfriend.”                                “Ex-lover.”

 

They finished off Sungmin in sync with different word but same meaning altogether.

 

“Eh?”

 

“Sorry Sungmin-ssi. Actually me and Kyuhyun knew each other.” Yonghwa explained, clashing his hand together as an apology.

 

“Knew…each other?” Sungmin repeated, looking back and forth at Kyuhyun and Yonghwa in puzzle.

 

Yonghwa smiled sheepishly. Kyuhyun let go a deep sigh.

 

“We are friend. Also, I was the match maker between him and Seohyun.” Kyuhyun explained, not much in happy mood by the meeting.

 

“How?”

 

“It’s a very long story. But to make it short, before he and Seohyun break up, we met at one of my concerts and became friends. And…since I fell in love with Seohyun on our first meeting, I quickly confessed my love after they break up.”

 

“You just can’t wait.” Kyuhyun mocked.

 

“What? It’s not my fault if you and my Hyun angel were not meant to be together.” Yonghwa retorted back, and Kyuhyun groaned at him dissatisfied.

 

“Hyun angel? Please…” Kyuhyun make a disgusted look by the cheesy nickname.

 

Sungmin continue staring at their bickering in amusement. She kept questioned inside whether everything she is hearing is right or wrong. But, to see the way they talk and bicker with each other like that, it doesn’t seem so awkward. She feels strange too. They both had the same feeling to the same woman then why and how can they be so carefree. What make them so close?

 

“Sungmin!”

 

“Yes?!” Sungmin jumped by Kyuhyun’s sudden call.

 

“Are you okay?”

 

Sungmin looked at him long.

 

“Maybe.” She replied, shrugging.

 

“Hahaha…she’s still confuse, Kyuhyun.” Yonghwa said, guessing the obvious on Sungmin’s face, “I have to get back to my baby and Hyun angel. I will give Kyuhyun to explain everything to you, okay Sungmin?”

 

Sungmin nodded blankly. Yonghwa laughed softly. Sungmin reaction really is the cutest.

 

“Then, see you again.” He shakes hand with Sungmin and then Kyuhyun and bid a due.

 

Sungmin turned slowly to her side and meet up with Kyuhyun’s eyes. She blinked few times, sort of imitating a cute kitten asking for an explanation. Kyuhyun unconsciously smirked.

 

“Come on Sungmin. What’s with that face? Are you lost, little girl?” he chuckled, teasing Sungmin.

 

“Kyu!” Sungmin protested, a red blush automatically appear on her face.

“How are you going home, Ming? Want me to send you back?”

 

Sungmin shakes her head.

 

“It’s okay, Kyu. I have already texted Wonnie about this. He’s on the way here now.”

 

Wonnie? How can he forget that Sungmin already has a boyfriend? Kyuhyun reprimanded himself.

 

“SUNGMIN!” they were shocked by the sudden loud voice.

 

From afar, they can see a man running towards them in fast pace.

 

“Wonnie?”

 

“Oh Sungmin!” he engulfed Sungmin into an embrace immediately.

 

Kyuhyun and Sungmin gawked by the action.

 

“Are you okay? Did you hurt yourself anywhere? Someone did something for you? Are you sick somewhere? Just tell me, I will…”

 

“Wonnie!” Sungmin called loud, “Hey, I’m okay.” She assured, holding both of his cheeks.

 

Siwon became silenced.

 

“I’m not hurt or sick anywhere. Everything is just fine. See?” Sungmin explained smiling to her boyfriend.

 

Siwon blinked and sighed out of relief.

 

“Thank goodness…” he whispered, hugging Sungmin into his arms more, “I was really scared when you text me just now.”

 

Sungmin laughed softly while patting her boyfriend’s back, “I am fine. We came here because our friend where in labor just now.” She explained.

 

“We? Our friend?” Siwon looks at the girlfriend confusingly.

 

“Yes, we.”

 

Siwon right away turned behind by the voice and quiet shock to see Kyuhyun there.

 

“You’re…here also?” he asked, frowning and didn’t quite like the idea of seeing Kyuhyun together with his girlfriend.

 

“The patient is our friend, Siwon. I was only visiting the café when all of this happened. Everything was not plan, don’t worry.” He explained, before Siwon started to misunderstand anything.

 

“Is…that so…” Siwon trailed, still a bit suspicious.

 

“Alright then. Siwon is here. I’m going home. See you again, Ming.” Kyuhyun told them and just leave.

 

The truth is he no longer can hold himself from watching the interaction between the couple. With every moves and word by Siwon to Sungmin make him green in envy. Yet, he also knows he has no right to interfere anything. It’s better if he just leave fast before his heart breaks even more. For the last time, he turned behind to look at the couple with the corner of his eyes.

 

“Let’s eat something.” Siwon suggested, smiling happily to Sungmin.

 

“Sure. But, aren’t you supposed to be busy, oppa?”

 

“Hahaha…not for you, babe.”

 

Both of them were talking and happy. Kyuhyun quickly turned away hiding away the tears that are almost falling from his eyes. He really hates himself to be that weak.

“Here. Your husband text me to bring you this.” Kyuhyun hands Seohyun a plastic bag containing a bowl of hot porridge.

 

“Thank you, Kyu~~ you’re really a great friend.” Seohyun excitedly take it from his hands and starts to open it to eat.

 

Kyuhyun pulled the chair and sit next to her bed. He smiled to see that happy grin on Seohyun’s face upon the food he brought. Then, he noticed a present nicely wrapped on the table together with a bouquet of flowers.

 

“What’s that?”

 

“Ah, it’s a present from Sungminie.” Kyuhyun tensed almost immediately when Seohyun said the name, “She came with her boyfriend just now. Did you know that her lover is Choi Siwon? The heir of Choi Corporation, the biggest company in Korea?”

 

“I know.”

 

“Sungmin was so lucky. She looks very happy too. I’ve never seen her smiling that way before. But, with just a word from the lover, she easily laughs. It’s like magic. I’m happy for her. Sungmin…deserve the happiness.” Seohyun stopped and observed Kyuhyun’s reaction.

 

Kyuhyun’s face turned sour. She did say those things on purpose to see Kyuhyun’s reaction and she got what she wants.

 

“Kyuhyun…aren’t you jealous?”

 

Kyuhyun’s stare are still on the floor. He chuckled, feel bitter.

 

“I am.” Kyuhyun replied, short and simple.

 

Seohyun looked at him sadly. She really didn’t like to see the depressed Kyuhyun. Even though she no longer has any feeling for Kyuhyun, she can almost relate to Kyuhyun’s sadness.

 

“You’re an idiot. Did you know?” she scolded.

 

Kyuhyun snorted.

 

“You don’t have to remind me, Seo. I know that I am.”

 

“How long have you reunited with Sungmin?”

Kyuhyun hummed, thinking and calculating, “A few months ago I think. I told you before that I met her at my cousin’s wedding.”

 

“A few months? And you didn’t even inform me anything about her?” Kyuhyun avoided Seohyun’s stare by the sharp question, “And…don’t tell me, you also didn’t tell her you and I was still in contact with each other.”

 

Kyuhyun didn’t respond. Seohyun rolled her eyes by the obvious reaction. She sighed tiredly.

 

“Still secretive as ever. You still didn’t change, Kyu. No wonder Sungmin didn’t wait for you and got someone else as her lover. You always and just love to keep everything as secrets. You kept about me from her for years. You kept her feeling build alone. Most importantly, you didn’t even honestly honest with your own feeling. What kind of man are you? Aren’t you a bit guilty for doing that?” she nagged long.

 

Kyuhyun groaned.

 

“Please Seo, stop with the nagging. I know that I am wrong. And I seriously didn’t need someone to put more salt onto my wound like that.” He retorted, not actually denying everything said.

 

Seohyun pouted. She ‘hmph’ at him and eats her porridge. She’s really irritated by Kyuhyun’s stupid behavior.

 

Flashback.

 

“She’s such a cutie, Hyun. You’re so lucky.” Sungmin complimented, while playing with the baby’s cheek softly, avoid from waking her from her slumber.

 

“Of course. She has to inherit my beauty right?”

 

Sungmin laughed, “Her father is not so bad too, Hyun.”

 

“Hehehehe…I know.”

 

Sungmin smiles happily while looking at the baby. She really not bored of staring at her at all. Obviously, she was already fascinated by the baby’s beauty. Seohyun was also smiling by the side with Sungmin’s visit.

 

“So, Sungmin. You didn’t tell me you’ve met with Kyuhyun.”

 

“Oh, that. I met him at Victoria’s wedding.” She replied.

 

“Victoria?” Seohyun frowned, “But, he told me you met each other at his cousin’s wedding.”

 

Sungmin nodded, “Yes, and his cousin is in fact married to Victoria.”

 

Seohyun awed at her explanation.

 

“And apparently, he is now not just a friend for me. He’s in fact my president’s step brother and also the Vice President of the place I work at.” Sungmin added.

 

“What? You work at his company?” Seohyun repeated incredulously by the information.

 

Sungmin nodded innocently. Her eyes fixed on the child, not realizing the shock on Seohyun’s face.

 

“Then…are you okay now?”

 

“Eh? What do you mean?” Sungmin give the question back at her, tilted her head to the side in confusion.

 

Seohyun looked at Sungmin with an unreadable expression. She searched for something in Sungmin’s eyes but she found none.

 

Did Sungmin already forget about Kyuhyun? She questioned mentally.

 

“Hyun? What’s wrong?” Sungmin asked.

 

Seohyun sighed faintly and shook her head.

 

“It’s nothing. I’m glad that you and Kyuhyun are once again friends.”

 

Sungmin laughed at her statement.

 

“You’re funny Hyun. I am his friend. Nothing has changed since then.” Sungmin explained.

 

Seohyun nodded approvingly.

 

It’s good that you are okay now, Ming. She smiles thankfully at her.

 

Flashback end.

 

Back to the present day, Seohyun and Kyuhyun are still at the hospital room. So much as Seohyun didn’t want to admit it, she knew Kyuhyun will never be true with his feeling. In addition to Sungmin’s newfound lover, there is no way for him to say anything now.

 

“You’re an idiot Kyuhyun.” Seohyun blurted out loud.

 

Kyuhyun chuckled.

 

“I know Hyun. This is the second time already you said it.” Kyuhyun teased back, showing his unaffected emotion.

 

Seohyun pouted and continued with eating with no more words anymore.
