Minho blinked twice, trying to gauge his surroundings.  He remembered waking up from the sedative earlier and being told that Yuki was alive.  He also remembered crying right after that.  Then he remembered falling asleep holding the unconscious girl's hand.  

It was then that he noticed the soft-looking, cream-colored hand hovering over his cheek.  He eyes moved around the room, finally coming to a stop when they met Yuki's own sparkling dark orbs.  There were a few heartbeats of silence as the two blinked at each other.  "You're. . . you're awake. . ." Minho said weakly, trying to break out of the awkward silence.

"Yeah," Yuki said.  Her voice cracked from lack of use.

"Do you need water?" Minho asked immediately.  Yuki cleared .

"That would be nice. . ." she said.  Wordlessly, Minho grabbed a full glass of water from where he was seated and handed it to Yuki. "Thanks," she said, drinking the water gratefully.  There was silence as Yuki drank.  Finally, Minho said,

"You saved my life by putting your own on the line.  You know that, right?"

"Yeah," Yuki responded.  I don't regret that.

"The. . . the doctors said that. . . that you died."

That's half true.

"You didn't think I'd stop harassing you, did you?  Why would I leave?" Yuki asked, trying to keep her tone light-hearted.  Minho tried for a smile but failed miserably.

"I thought. . . I thought you really had left. . ." he said quietly, staring at the ground.  Yuki's heart clenched as she remembered seeing Minho's broken face through the T.V. screen when she had been on Middle Ground.  That was definitely not something she was eager to see again.

"Keroro," Yuki said, "I don't plan on leaving any time soon-"

"OH MY GOD, SHE'S AWAKE!" 

The next second, Yuki was into Key's choking hug.  She felt something wet on her shoulder.  "I thought- we thought- I mean," Key was saying incoherently, his sentences meshing together.

"Key. . ." Yuki panted, "hurts. . . can't breathe. . ."

"OMO, MIANHE!" Key said, stepping back and wiping his tears.  Yuki watched as all of SHINee and EXO filed into her room.  

"The Hyung-deul were here too," Minho muttered to Yuki, "but after they found out that you were going to be okay, they left to reassure the Noona-deul."  The girl nodded once in understanding.  She felt a little overwhelmed seeing everyone in the room at once.  Everyone still had tears in their eyes, so rather than letting her emotions overtake her, Yuki did what she did best:  hide her own emotions for the happiness of others.

"Hey guys!" Yuki said brightly, trying to sit up, "what's happenin'?"  Trying to sit up was a bad move.  Pain shot up Yuki's back.  The pain was enough for her to tighten the grip she had on Minho's hand.  She kept her face straight though, not wanting to worry her friends.  Minho glared at Yuki, knowing that she was trying to hide her pain, but the girl ignored him.  His gaze flickered down to their connected hands and he couldn't help but feel a bit warm on the inside.

OF COURSE, no one missed Minho's gaze downwards.  Their eyes widened at the pairs intertwined hands.  Chen had opened his mouth to comment on it, but Taemin tugged lightly on the boy's shirt, stopping him.  

"Aw come on, guys," Yuki said, putting on a smile, "you guys act like I died or something."

There was a pin drop silence.

"Oh," Yuki said, "sorry. . . bad joke."

"Ya think?" Minho asked under his breath.  At that moment, the lead doctor walked into the ward.

"Ah, Minho, Yuki.  I see that you two are awake.  That's good to see.  Allow me to introduce myself.  I am Doctor Han Insu.  I was the one treating you, Yuki," Insu said with a smile.  

Yuki smiled at the man.  "Thank you so much for what you've done for me.  I can never express the amount of gratitude-"

"Nonsense," Insu said with a laugh, "it's my job."  He looked at the amount of people crowding the ward.  "You must forgive me, gentlemen," Insu said, "but I'm going to have to ask that some of you leave the room.  I don't want Yuki to feel overwhelmed."

The EXO and SHINee boys nodded.  "Well, I'm not going to force the SHINee boys to leave," Suho said, "so we'll go out."

"Wait," Jinki said, "why don't at least two or three of you stay so you can hear Yuki's report?  That way, there won't be confusion afterwards."

"Good plan, hyung," Sehun agreed, "so who'll stay?"

"I think we should have the two leaders stay," Luhan suggested.

"That's a good idea," Chanyeol said, "okay, then we'll take our leave."

"Yeol," Yuki suddenly said, her eyes narrowing, "have you eaten?"

"Uh. . ." 

"Have any of you eaten?" 

Every boy in the room became quiet.  "Go eat," Yuki said flatly.

"But," multiple voices protested at once.

"No 'buts,'" Yuki intercepted, "EAT."

The boys sighed but reluctantly agreed, heading out of the room.  Only SHINee, Kris, and Suho stayed.  Yuki raised an eyebrow at them.

"At least let us hear your report before going to eat," Kris said, "I won't be able to eat until I hear that everything is perfectly fine anyways."  Suho and SHINee nodded vigorously.  The girl sighed in defeat.

"Arasso," she finally agreed.  Everyone in the room turned to the doctor, waiting for him to speak.

"Well, Yuki," Insu said, "the first thing I need to clear with you is the attack.  When Minho called us, we arrived and found him supporting your head as you lay on the floor with a knife in your back.  Because of the urgency of the situation, I refrained from calling the police.  I need you to tell me what happened."

Think fast, Bul, Yuki thought to herself, you obviously can't tell him the truth.

"My b-b-boyfriend and I were walking down the street after seeing a movie together."  Yuki stuttered over the word "boyfriend."  It made her feel tingly on the inside.  Calm down, Yuki.  He's not even your boyfriend.  Keep talking.  "We had taken a shortcut down the darker part of Seoul, but unfortunately, it was a bad idea.  There was a gang fight going on and I was caught in the crossfire."  Minho tried to keep his poker face on after Yuki addressed him as her boyfriend.  Everyone in the room except for Insu knew that what Yuki had said was a lie.

"I see," Insu said, "then I'm going to have to call the police-"

"That actually won't be necessary," Yuki interrupted, "my Hyung-deul, who I was informed were here earlier, are prominent members of the Seoul Police Force.  They left to write the official warrant for arrest."  Insu nodded in understanding.

"I do have the. . . er. . . weapon in my possession," he said, "they would probably want it for evidence, correct?" 

"Ah, yes," Yuki said with a smile, "that would be lovely."

"All right," he said, "now let's talk about the extent of your injuries.  Well Yuki, there was a point in time when we were operating on you that your heartbeat, pulse, and brain activity stopped completely.  In other words, medically speaking, you had died."

Minho stiffened, as did the other boys in the room.  Yuki made no reaction.  She simply nodded.  "As bad as this is going to sound, you should not have been able to come back to life.  In fact, I was about to pull the sheet over your head.  Your boyfriend, on the other hand, seemed to have other plans."  Yuki's cheeks tinted when Insu addressed Minho as her boyfriend.  Minho flushed a dark shade of red, remembering his half-crazed actions, which reminded him. . .

"Forgive me for pushing you in such a rude manner, Doctor-ssi," Minho said, bowing his head, "it was very irresponsible and-"

"That's quite all right," Insu said with a laugh, "I have to understand where you were coming from to."  Minho gave Insu a small smile before turned to Jinki.

"You too, Jinki Hyung.  I'm so sorry."  Jinki waved him off.

"I think I should be sorry too," he said, "I punching you in the face. . ."

"That's okay," Minho said with a quick smile, "you did it because I went crazy."

"Well, now that that's sorted," Jonghyun said, "I believe we still need to hear about Yuki's injuries."

"Ah, yes," Insu said, "well, Yuki.  All I can say is that you're a very lucky girl.  Firstly, the dagger buried itself in your lower back" (everyone in the room flinched except for Yuki and Insu) "which is the most vulnerable spot in your body.  Your chances of surviving the wound were extremely slim, but aside from that, there was a huge chance that, if you were to survive, you would become paralyzed for the rest of your life.  You see, the lower back is the location of-"

"The lumbar spine," Taemin said automatically, "the base of your spinal cord."

"Correct," Insu said, "the lumbar spine controls all spinal movement.  Damage that, and your chances of life-long paralysis triple."

Yuki shuddered at the very real possibilty of that happening.  In the back of her head, something suspected that perhaps her parents had something to do with this.  

"It's a miracle that that didn't happen.  You seem to be fine, actually.  I assume that you're suffering from pain at the moment?"

"No," Yuki said.

"Yes," Minho said at the same time.  Yuki opened to protest, but a glare from everyone in the room kept her silent.

"Very well then," Insu said with a small chuckle, "I have a list of different medications that Yuki will need to take."  He pulled out a small sheet of paper.  "It would be best if we could get these as soon as possible."

"I'll get them," Key and Suho said in unison.  The pair looked at each other.

"Why don't we both go?" Suho offered.

"Sounds like a plan," Key said.  Suho took the paper from Insu and hugged Yuki before leaving.  Key also gave Yuki a quick hug before following Suho out.  That left Kris, Taemin, Jonghyun, Jinki, and Minho inside with Yuki and Insu.

"Is there anything else we need to be aware of?" Kris asked Insu, "anything Yuki can or can't do, anything she should eat. . ."

"Let's see," Insu said, "Yuki's going to need to stick to strictly whole foods for a while.  It's mandatory that she avoids processed foods for a couple of weeks.  She's going to need protein to rebuild her strength, and a balance of other whole foods."

"Kyungsoo and Key should be able to take care of this," Kris said, turning to the others, who nodded in agreement.

"And anything she should avoid?" Jonghyun asked.

"Ah, yes," Insu said, "in order to fully recover, Yuki needs to avoid any kind of physical activity for two months at the very least-"

"WHAT?!" Yuki shrieked, "TWO MONTHS?!" 

The machines in the room started beating erratically in response to Yuki's rising blood pressure and heart rate.

"Hey, take it easy," Jinki said soothingly, patting Yuki's head, "relax."  Yuki took a deep breath.  Soon the rapid beeping of the machines calmed into a more calm tempo.  

"But. . . two whole months?" she asked.  Her voice slipped into a whine.

"Yes," Insu said firmly, "Yuki, you were just pulled from the jaws of death.  I don't think I want you running about anytime soon."

Before Yuki could protest, everyone nodded their heads, permitting Insu to continue.  "Now, as I was saying.  If you can follow these directions and take your medication on time, there should be no problems with you making a full recovery.  However, someone will probably need to be with you during your recovery period."

"I'll do it," Minho said before anyone else could speak.  Taemin, Jonghyun, Jinki, Suho, and Yuki looked at Minho oddly.  "What?" he asked, "why wouldn't I?"

"Are you okay with that, Noona?" Taemin asked the girl with a sly smile. 

"Um. . . yeah," Yuki said, "that's cool."  She tried to keep her heart beat normal, knowing that the machine would give her away if she didn't. 

"Doctor Han," Jinki asked, "when can we take her home?"

"Well. . . if you all listen to my instructions. . ." Insu said, "you can take Yuki home as soon as you fill out the discharge papers."

YAY!  SHE'S OKAY!! *throws confetti*

Happy Valentines Day, guys!  I hold no love for the holiday myself, but I'll wish you guys in case any of you have a special someone you spend it with :) ^_^
