Leave It To The Guys

It was just plain....weird.

The way she imagined Luhan being nice seemed less creepy in her head. She stared at the back of his head as he paddled the canoe. Her paddle was slowly grazing the water, hardly even pushing the boat forward but Luhan didn't seem to mind she wasnt doing anything.

At first, she was thrilled he wanted to try and start off nicely, but then suddenly her instincts kicked in and she realized, could he be tricking her?

She was probably being irrational but she just didnt want to get hurt especially by Luhan anymore.

"You okay Eun Ri? You seem quiet." Luhan said noticing she was paddling. Maybe she was still trying to adjust to him being nice. Unlike her, his heart was racing and his smile wouldn't leave his face all morning. "Did you sleep well last night?"

Again, plain weird.

Eun Ri coughed slightly dipping her oar back into the water as they mauveuvered their way back to the dock. The whole gang decided to head out canoeing for a bit before relaxing on the beach and oddly Luhan chose Eun Ri as his partner.

"I'm fine, sorry." She murmered feeling a bit guilty for making Luhan work twice as hard to keep up with the other members.

They reached the dock as he looped the rope over the corner, securing the boat. He climbed out first before reaching for her hand and pulling her onto the deck, making sure she didnt slip off, he held onto her a bit tighter making her pull away as she was secure.

"It's fine, you seemed tired though. Are you sure you don't want to go sleep?" He asked walking by her side as they met up with the others on the beach where they had a small BBQ going for lunch.

She shook her head and tried to grasp around the idea that Luhan was truly trying his best to be kind to her and here she was not accepting it after she wanted it so badly.

"It's okay Luhan, thanks for asking though." She said smiling as she waved at the others. She was being ridiculous. All morning, he had been nothing but kind so maybe for now, even if it was weird, she'd try to understand. Luhan hummed in response before joining the others on the beach towels they set up.

Eun Ri stood behind Chen, resting her chin on his shoulder as she watched him grill the meat. Chen fed her a piece as he put the rest onto the plates.

She clapped her hand happily as she sat down near the others to eat.

Her worries began to melt away as she and the others talked about how great the trip was going. That night, the school was hosting a midnight race in the forests and the winning teams would win gift cards to restaraunts or simply money.

"How about we make teams?" Chanyeol said as he took a sip of his cola.

Everyone was excited and hoped to win the grand prize which was a 100,000 won gift card. The things Eun Ri would do with it: buy food, buy food, and buy food.

"If we can get at least three of our people in the top 10, we'll get a good amount of prizes." Kai said.

"But it's at night too remember that and we're only allowed one flashlight not to mention the staff are hiding the check points in ridiculous places." Tao mentioned. "I heard from someone that the checkpoints were gonna be up high in trees or like under rocks and stuff."

"We can work together right?" Suho asked.

Baekhyun nodded. "We're allowed to meet up in groups but technically we all have to split one prize so I think it'd be best if we split into groups of 3."

Eun Ri was now excited. The whole concept was exciting and she was definitely pumped to defeat some people to the ground.

"How about we make teams now so we can ensure some of us at least get prizes." Sehun said.

"MAKNAES CALL NOONA!" Tao screamed taking Eun Ri into his arms. She giggled as Tao pulled her into his lap and wrapped a protective arm around her.

Kai and Sehun nodded in agreement as they sat near Tao and Eun Ri. Luhan's eyes turned into slits as he saw Tao's hands protectively around her waist. Too protectively for his taste.

"Yah! She has an opinion too you bratty children!" Xiumin whined. "I say she comes with me cause I can protect her." Xiumin chirped.

"If she goes with Xiumin then I call being with hyung." Baekhyun said cheekily.

"You just said she has an opinion yet you assign her with you, you doofus." D.O. grumbled. Chen nodded in agreement. "Let her choose but I think it's obvious she'd choose us because we'd be quick and faster."

Eun Ri sat quietly in Tao's lap still as the guys quarreled who would be paired with her.

She never realized how lucky she was to have such great friends that loved her so much. She would pair with all of them but honestly in her heart, she hoped she would be paired with Lay.

"How about we all shut up and let her choose?" Suho yelled over everyone.

Everyone silenced themselves and all eyes suddenly went to her causing her to become a bit nervous. She gulped and met eyes with Lay who smiled sweetly.

"U-Uh, if Lay would want to pair with me, maybe?" She murmed only getting a nod from him making her heart race. She had no idea where her confidence was coming from to ask him but it was worth a shot.

"Okay, perfect. Luhan and Lay were already paired and now they have Eun Ri. Now all of you get over it and just make your own groups." Suho ordered. He definitely was the leader for a reason.

As everyone grumbled about not having Eun Ri, Lay and Luhan were both very happy.

Luhan sat on Baekhyun's bed as Baekhyun, Chen, Kai and Sehun sat on the ground. Night was slowly falling and people were starting to prepare for the race.

Each group was allowed one backpack packed with waters, extra batteries, a first aid kit and that was it. Phones were to be collected or left behind and walk talkies were to be used instead.

Lay had already took the liberty to pack their bag and he was in one of the other guys' rooms helping them pack.

Luhan decided being done dressed, to go and visit the other guys before the hike.

"Should I wear my sneakers or hiking boots. What helps climbing?" Baekhyun asked staring at his pile of shoes. Sehun snickered and scoffed. "None because you can't climb hyung."

"Why you little—" Baekhyun growled before grabbing the Maknae and ruffling his hair harshly.

Luhan rolled his eyes at their immaturity and when Sehun was done being beat by Baekhyun, Chen and Baekhyun finished packing and were ready.

Out the door, Luhan was excited to meet with Eun Ri. He knew with him and Lay plus her, they were going to win being athletic as they already are. He must have not realized he was smiling cheesily because next thing he knew he felt Chen nudge his side giving him a smug look.

"When are you going to admit it?" Chen whispered so the others wouldn't hear. Luhan blushed and scowled, was Chen reading his mind or something?

"And no, I am not reading your mind. So stop looking at me like that. You're just plain obvious with that stupid smile on your face." Chen chuckled.

Luhan made a promise to himself to strangle the younger later. "I don't know what you're talking about." He scoffed.

Chen rolled his eyes as they pushed their way out of the lobby down to the field where the race would start. "You obviously like Eun Ri. You should've seen how happy you were when she got into your group."

Truthfully, he was a bit jealous when she had chosen Lay but it worked out anyways so he didnt mind too much.

"Please, I was neutral about it." Luhan murmered. Chen sighed in annoyance about how stubborn the male was being but before he could pry any further, they reached the starting grounds.

Luhan wished the younger luck before running to where Lay stood. As he got closer he noticed Lay was already with Eun Ri and she was giggling about something, her face slightly pink.

He slowed his pace when he felt it harder for him to breathe.

Eun Ri stopped laughing and looked up to find Luhan slowly walking to them. "Oh hey Luhan!" She chirped.

Luhan smiled and waved to her and Lay. "Hey Lu." Lay said. Luhan nodded and stood by them as they waited for the teachers to announce the start.

"Do we have everything?" Luhan asked eyeing Lay's bag. Eun Ri nodded, "Mr.Song just passed out the flash lights and walkie talkies and now we're waiting for the sun to set."

About ten minutes later, the skies were dark and the field was lit by tiki torches.

"Okay, listen up class. There are ten checkpoints scattered around a 2 mile radius distance. You are to find at least 5 before making your way to the end of the forest where we will be. Paths are clearly marked so please do avoid getting lost but if you do, walkie talkies are at your disposal and please use them. Also if any serious injuries happen which usually don't, nurses are on standby so please call immediately." Soo Man said into the microphone.

Eun Ri was growing nervous as the she stared at the dark sky. This would be the first time she'd be doing something like this and she was excited.

"Besides safety precautions, we all trust you all will be responsible. After time is up, we will send out an alert and everyone is to make their way back promptly. Winners will receive their prizes in the end. So without further a do, please line up."

Luhan, Lay and Eun Ri stepped up the front to get a good start. She looked around and found the rest of EXO scattered at different areas. With a loud whistle, she was running with her partners to the front.

Luhan, Lay and her kept a good pace near the front of everyone else and soon groups began to scatter down different paths deeper into the forest.

Once the forest became more quiet and they were alone, they slowed their paces, only walking swiftly on the dirt road. Lay had grabbed the flashlight out from his backpack and was leading the way with Eun Ri in the middle and Luhan in the back.

"Do you guys see anything? There are suppose to be markers near the checkpoint." Lay said. Eun Ri looked around and saw nothing until Lay's flashlight shone over a reflector.

"Over there!" She said as they rushed over to the tree where a piece of reflector tape was stuck onto the bark.

"Begin searching." Luhan said. Eun Ri began to walk around the area looking for the checkpoint which was suppose to be a small tent with a piece of paper and a marker to check.

She looked around until she decided maybe the teachers had hung it up. Her assumptions were right when she saw the tent hanging off a branch not too far off the ground.

"Luhan! Lay!" She called. They ran over and Lay shone his light over the tent. "Great job Ri!" Lay said ruffling her hair playfully.

She blushed slightly and smiled. "I'll get it."

Luhan pressed his lips into a thin line. "Are you sure? One of us can get it." He said.

Eun Ri was grateful for his concern but she was Go Eun Ri, what was he worrying about. She shook her head and began to climb the tree. "Have you forgotten my personality Luhan." She joked sitting on a branch high above him.

Lay shone the light on Eun Ri so she could see where she going. Luhan frowned when he saw she was wearing tight yoga pants and he thanked that 1) it was dark and 2) she was with them and not guys that werent EXO.

Eun Ri swung her leg over the branch and reached for the checkpoint, grabbing their checker paper and stamping a red dot on the first box.

She soon climbed down and shoved the paper into her pocket. "First one down!"

Lay smiled and began to lead again. "You did great Ri." He complimented remembering how Luhan had said the more he showed his affection the more she would fall for him.

And boy was he right because Eun Ri was completely melting into a pile of goo.

As they ventured further and gained more checkpoints, Luhan trailed behind quietly as Lay and Eun Ri walked together in the front laughing and smiling at each other like lovesick puppies.

He was happy for his friend but he couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy. He didnt want to take her away from his friend but he felt selfish and he was feeling terrible as well.

Eun Ri on the other hand was loving the attention Lay was giving her. The way he complimented her for finding 3 of their checkpoints alone already and being able to grab them quickly.

After awhile, they assumed it had been about 2 hours since the race had started and they only needed one more to be able to race to the finish land.

"Where do you think the last one is?" Lay said shining the light around. Luhan scanned his eyes around before seeing a small flash a few feet into the brush of plants.

"I think I saw something over there." Luhan pointed to the spot where he had seen the flash and they walked over into the tall plants.

Eun Ri looked around and used her hands to push some of the plants around as she looked for the check.

Luhan swore he saw the flash and he didnt want to look stupid in front of Eun Ri for failing. They almost gave up until Luhan found the checkpoint deep into a bush. "Guys! I found our last one!" He shouted.

They came running to him as Luhan took the check paper from Eun Ri and marked their last box. "We got it! Let's go!" He shouted as they cheered.

They smiled widely as they ran through the forest on their path with Lay shining the light on the way. Eun Ri could feel the energy inside her bubble as they passed the sign that lead to the finish line.

As soon as they made it out of the forest clearing, she could hear cheering and she saw one or two groups already done as they ran under the banner that said Finish.

The moment they stepped over the line, they bursted into cheers and Eun Ri felt herself being picked up and twirled around. She found Lay peering up at her as he spun her around. "We did it!" He laughed.

Eun Ri blushed and laughed as he set her down. Lay gave Luhan a bump to the shoulders and Eun Ri held her hand out for a high five which Luhan weakily hit. She looked at him and noticed his lips were slightly frowning. He was probably tired.

After their little celebration finished, their teacher interrupted their small talk.

"Congratulations! You guys are third and will be receiving a gift card to whatever restaurant you guys want!" Their teacher said. They bowed as they slowly made their way to the rest area.

Eun Ri's lungs were pumping in oxygen as she panted heavily. They had ran all the way and her legs were starting to feel the burn of the running. She was simply elated to have won. Her team had worked really hard and even if they didnt win, she would've been happy anyways.

She drank her water as she sat and waited for the rest of the guys to come. She was sitting alone when she felt Lay's presence as he sat down next to her.

"Tired?" He chuckled as she was pounding on their thighs with her fist.

She smiled sheepishly. "A bit." She laughed lightly.

Lay smiled making her heart race again. How he did it? She'd never understand. Maybe it was his gentle eyes or the dimple that formed on the corner of his lips when he smiled at her.

"Here." Lay said propped her legs onto his lap as he squeezed her calves. She blushed and tried to pull away but Lay shook his head. "You seemed tired. Luhan and I did make you get most of the checks."

Eun Ri rubbed the back of her neck and shrugged. "It's fine, I was the better climber for them anyways and it's not Luhan's fault for bring afraid of heights." She said recalling how Lay had told her Luhan was afraid of heights when they were trying to decide how to get the checker when it was situated high on a tree.

"It's not a big deal anyways, I was willing to do it." Eun Ri said. Lay hummed in response as he continued to massage her legs.

She couldn't help but think how sweet and kind Lay was. She had never really liked a guy nor had she ever really met anyone as kind and gentle as Lay. All of it only made him more important to her.

Soon the rest of EXO came out and they were all able collect a good amount of prizes and made their way back to the lodge where they were holding a small night party. Eun Ri didn't forget to thank Lay before they made their way back because now her legs felt great.

They all walked back, tired but still eager to party a bit before sleeping.

The grounds were being lit by torches and lights hanging from them. Food was sprawled on the tables and music was being playing in the background.

Eun Ri walked over to the food and grabbed herself a drink before trying to find one of the other members.

She looked around and saw Luhan in the distance sitting with Chen. To think about it, she realized when she went to sit in the resting area, he had disappeared completely and left only her and Lay.

She continued to walk around until she bumped into the members and began to talk about their adventures. Soon time passed and she didnt feel tired anymore and the part was at its height.

She was dancing with Kai eventually. She laughed as he spun her around and next thing she knew she found Lay replacing Kai. She looked around confused for a second before seeing Kai winking at her playfully before making his way to the food table.

She blushed a bit as Lay smiled and continued to dance with her. She would strangle the maknae but Lay's cute smile made her forgive the younger. Soon the song ended and she had no idea how but they ended up near the edge of the lake just sitting and talking.

"Today was really fun." Lay said pushing the sand with his heel. Eun Ri hummed and hugged her knees.

"I liked it though. I wish we could do more stuff like this in the future." Eun Ri said turning to him.

"I'm really glad I came. I would've missed out on this." Lay said. Eun Ri smiled, "Me too."

His heart began to race as he continued to look at her face. Under the night, she truly glowed. One second, they were just talking and next thing she knew, Lay was leaning forward, his eyes closed.

She froze as she realized he was trying to kiss her. Somehow, she wanted to resist, being afraid but her body moved on its own and she leaned in as well.
