His Perfect Match10th floor- 8pm
Henry’s POV
“Heechul-hyung…” I began to say.
“stop repeating, I know already.” He said waving his hand at me.
I had actually pestered Heechul hyung to be on his err…best behavior tonight. Although he swore that he would, none of the members actually believed him. Kyuhyun and Donghae even had a bet on how long it would take for their hyung to “control” himself. Donghae said as soon as he would step into the place, Kyuhyun said as soon as the doorbell had been rung.
I pushed the doorbell and true enough…
“hey yo wassup!baby man!” he started to imitate a rapper.
I saw Siwon hyung glance at me while I was already groaning at my dilemma. Siwon hyung chuckled and elbowed Kyuhyun hyung and Donghae hyung who’s already trying to hold their laughter.
Seconds past and the door opened. It was Eun Hee.
“oh annyeonghaseyo! Henry, you’re here. Come on in.” Eun Hee said as she ushered us in. All the boys went silent at once. Eun Hee was pretty, she’s half Korean and half Canadian so the obvious exotic beauty was evident. She hasn’t change a bit.
“guys this is Eun Hee, one of my cousin’s bestfriends. These are my friends Leeteuk-hyung, Heechul-hyung, Siwon-hyung, Donghae hyung and Kyuhyun hyung.” I introduced and they all did their formal greetings and entered the apartment.
“wah. It really isn’t different from ours although the arrangement of the things is not the same.” Heechul hyung said looking around.
Aside from Heechul hyung the others were a bit silent maybe because it just dawned on them that they are actually at a girl’s place?hehehe it was a good thing I was raised in Canada, a guy going to a girl’s place is normal.
“Eun Hee-ah, where’s Zee?” I asked looking around.
“settling Hyung in.” I turned to look where that voice came from. It was coming out from the kitchen, a few seconds later a long, wavy-haired brunette came out. She ran towards me and gave cheek-to-cheek greeting, I felt my cheeks burn, I used to have a huge crush on Kim Shin. The others stared at her with wide eyes. It’s not really a custom in Korea but in other countries it’s their form of greeting.
“She brought Hyung?” I asked. Why would she bring that bodyguard of hers?
“oh yes, she’s going to be staying here for quite some time so he really has to be here. So they’re the famous Super Junior?” she glance at my hyungs behind me.
She took a long look at each of the members; out of the 3 girls she knew her kpop well although she has no favorites when it comes to band members. She only liked the songs.
I introduced each of the members and they settled themselves on the couch. At this point only Heechul hyung and Leeteuk hyung are talking the rest are just quiet.
“in Super Junior, who do you like the most?” Heechul hyung started to ask.
All the others groaned including me. There goes Heechul-hyung.
“even though I know all of you by names I don’t really have any favorites.” Kim Shin gave him a grin.
“why?!” hyung asked wide eyed in surprise.
“I just pay attention to the song.” Kim Shin simply replied.
Heechul hyung was just about to say something back but at that moment I saw a black-haired girl emerge. I stood up smiling at once.
“Guys this is my cousin Zee. Zee, these are the guys.” I put an arm around Zee’s shoulder. Zee and I don’t really look alike much, she had almond shaped eyes whereas I got, well, teeny tiny eyes.
“annyeonghaseyo! I hope this cousin of mine didn’t cause too much trouble here.” She elbowed me grinning. I flinched a bit.
“of course not.” Siwon said as they shook hands.
“just the occasional mischief here and there.” Aish! The evil one speaks. He’s the one who does all the “occasional” mischief here and there.
Writer’s POV
They all exchanged their greetings and went to the dinner table to eat. The usually talkative Heechul and Leeteuk were quiet. They remembered their encounter with Zee that morning in the elevator. Teukie even elbowed Heechul coz his mouth was hanging wide open when Zee came in to the living room.
Zee wasn’t really Heechul’s ideal girl but still something about her struck him. For one thing they Zee and Henry have no resemblance at all, maybe just the complexion. She had round almond eyes, the prettiest eyes Heenim had ever seen in his opinion.
“I heard you guys are pretty famous nowadays does it ever bother you?” Zee started to speak.
“of course not! We make our fans happy, don’t we? If they are happy so are we.” Heechul exclaimed.
“there are always downsides to fame but we are happy with what we do.” Leeteuk said smiling at Zee. He was being overly polite tonight.
“so Zee, what brings you here to Korea?” Siwon asked taking a bite of the food.
“my family owns a chain of pet hotels and they just set up one here so they sent me here to manage it.”
“daebak!” Heechul suddenly shoted and everyone almost jumped on their seats in surprise.
“yah! What are you thinking?” Leeteuk elbowed him.
“nothing.” Heehcul tried to act innocent.
“tch! I’ve been living with you for years now and you don’t really expect me to believe that, do you?”
Before things get out of hand Henry interrupts by pouring everyone sodas. They’ve been eating Chinese food from Henry’s favorite place; it is pretty good too so no one complained.
“yah how old are you to still drink soda? Don’t you have beer?” Heechul complained looking at Henry pouring the drinks.
“no one drinks beer here.” Zee said looking at Heechul with a slightly raised eyebrow.
“eh? Why?”
“we just don’t fancy alcoholic drinks.”
“Kyuhyun-ah, say something you’re the wine expert tell her about the benefits of alcohol.” Heechul suddenly turned at the innocent maknae.
Kyuhyun who’s at the verge of laughing looked up at his hyung.
“everyone has his or her own preference, hyung.” Kyuhyun replied avoiding being involved.
“aish! Jinjja! Yah, you should drink if someone pours you a glass.” Heechul gestured at Zee.
Everyone is silent now, except for Henry who’s groaning. He’s already anticipating something, Heechul is a smart , and so is his cousin, not to mention her overflowing opinion of things.
“I still don’t.” Zee was stubborn as she had always been.
“it is very disrespectful if you refuse, don’t you know that?” Heechul insisted. Both of them were glaring at each other now.
“isn’t it even more disrespectful if you force someone to drink or do something they really don’t want to?” Zee pointed out.
Knowing her friend Kim Shin interrupts the sparks that is bound to become flames.
“Donghae-sshi, do you guys have an upcoming show? Maybe we could watch it on tv.” Kim Shin said in her desperate attempt to change the topic.
“huh?oh! Leeteuk-hyung has strong heart, you can just tune in any channel, and they are regulars on some other shows.” Donghae hurriedly caught on and answered Kim Shin.
“Zee, are you also into music? Your cousin’s violin skills are very famous.” Siwon asked after taking a sip of soda.
“yes I am, but I don’t really play much these days since ‘m very busy.”
“oh? What do you play?” Leeteuk asked interested now.
“I also play the violin, I started my lessons a year before Henry did, but we have the same level.” Zee replied modestly.
“She doesn’t just play the violin she rocks the drums too.” Henry boasted proudly.
“really? I play the drums too. We should get together and jam sometimes.” Drummer to drummer, Siwon gave Zee a very big, childish smile. It was so not his usual macho image.
Hearing that Zee couldn’t help but laugh a bit. She may not mind jamming with musicians but these guys are famous artists and if it gets out their fans might beat her to death.
“I’ve got no problem with that, but then again your fans might have something to say about it.” Laughed Zee.
“no worries, we sneak out to jam loads of times so it’s not really a problem.” Leeteuk excitedly said. He couldn’t wait for them to jam to Zee.
“if you say so.”
“hey! How about a duet from Henry and Zee?” Kyuhyun suddenly said.
Both heads turned towards Kyuhyun who was silent until that moment.
“why not? It’s a pretty good idea. Henry practically brings his violin everywhere.” Kyuhyun tried to act innocent…again.
“no problem. We don’t really do a violin duet but we had once, still remember that piece, Henry?” Zee looked at Henry.
“who could forget? We performed that for your sister’s wedding video 2 years ago.” Henry said grinning at the memory.
“that piece had better be good.” Heechul said sounding doubtful that it would be good.
“Hyung, relax. Maybe their performance will ease you tension.” Siwon said patting Heechul’s back.
“fine fine.” Heechul said rolling his eyes.
They all went to the living room while Henry and Zee took out their violin. They have seen Henry’s violin collection before but they weren’t expecting Zee’s, it was all black even its strings and bow.
“wow! You’re violin looks good.” Praised Donghae as he eyes the shiny instrument Zee was holding.
“thank you.”
“what piece are you playing?” Leetek asked leaning forward. Kim Shin, Eun Hee, Leeteuk and Heechul were on the couch while Siwon, Donghae and Kyuhyun were sitting on the floor.
“Yiruma’s Kiss the Rain.” Henry answered Leeteuk’s question as he was tuning his violin.
“I love that piece!” Leeteuk said wide-eyed and excited.
“ok, ready when you are.” Zee said looking at Henry.
They’ve seen Henry play countless of times, seen how he suddenly enters his own world, or rock the stage with his performance but this duet was different. At the struck of the first key everyone felt their mouths drop and they were also transported into a different word. They felt like floating, some say that is a sad piece but the way Henry and Zee played it, it sounded romantic and sweet. It is the joint forces of musical geniuses, there’s no other word for it.
Heechul had eyes only for Zee, the way she place was like magic to his eyes and ears, the flow of her movements were like silk so smooth and soothing. It actually made him want to sleep but the more he listened the more he did not want to stop listening.
At last the song ended. Nothing but silent admiration from the listeners.
