Capturing Taemin-Oppa
“U-umma?” Juliette answered a call one morning. It was from her mother.
“Jooyoung-ah. Can you go back here? We need you.” Her mother said over the phone. “Your uncle is very sick right now and the company temporarily needs someone to run the business. He won’t allow anyone else to run it but you.” She said.
“Uncle is sick? How is he now, umma? Is he okay? How sick he is?” Jooyoung, who is very close to her uncle, felt so much worried about him.
“He needs to undergo operation regarding his kidney. It will take time for him to be okay, Jooyoung. He was personally asking you to take over the business. I’m sorry, jooyoungie… I’m sorry I have to ask you this. He couldn’t stay still thinking there’s no one else to take over the business.” She said.
“No, umma. You know I can’t say no to uncle.” She said. “Alright. I’ll take the earliest flight tomorrow morning to California. I’ll go there as soon as possible. Tell uncle to stop worrying about work because I promise to take over.” She said and ended the call.
She looked at her sister who was on her side. Jieun heard the conversation with her mother. “I need to go back to California, unnie.” She uttered. “Uncle needs me right now. I think he won’t undergo the operation if he’s not comfortable enough about the person that will replace him in the business.” She said.
“I understand.” Jieun said and brushed her fingers through her hair. “Have I ever told you I’m so proud to have you as my sister? You’ve grown beautifully. You may not be the most perfect girl in the world, but you’re the most beautiful girl I’ve ever met.” She praised. “I’m happy to guide and support you as always. Though you may commit several mistakes here and there, you made me realize you can be able to cope up of everything. I know you’ll do well handling the business, just don’t overwork it, huh?” She smiled.
Juliette nodded and thanked her unnie.
“But, before leaving, you should talk to Taemin. I don’t want to see him cry in front of us when he realized you left without telling him.” They both giggled.
**** **** ****
“Should I go with you?” Taemin immediately held her hand after she told him what’s up. “I’ll cancel all my work here and go with you there.” He said.
“Oppa. It’s not like it’ll last for weeks. I might stay longer than expected. Uncle Steve needs to be operated. It may take several months. I don’t know… probably even a year.” She said honestly.
“B-but…”
“I have to do this, while oppa needs to stay here to handle his career.” She said clearly.
“B-but…” His hold of her became tighter. “Why are you suddenly leaving me? Didn’t you tell me you’re not going to leave me?” He whined like a little kid.
“This is unexpected, oppa. I didn’t plan for this to happen.” She said.
Taemin pouted. “You messed up with my life and now you’re living me.” He said. “I didn’t know you until you came and claim to love me so much. You said you’re willing to give me everything but now that I’m so attached to you, you’re going to leave me. You’re like killing me, you know.” He said while looking at the floor.
“Awww… Taeminnie…” She said and immediately wrapped her arms around him for a hug.
“Hey, I’m older than you. Why do you call me like that?” He said while he’s inside her arms.
“You’re so cute. This is the first time that I’ve seen you like this in real life.” She uttered. “I forgot you’re older than me by 5 years for a bit.” She chuckled.
“You’re talking as if this is not serious. Tell me… aren’t you afraid of leaving me? What if I find someone else to replace you?” He said as he pouted.
“I can easily find someone else to replace you, too.” She answered back. Taemin looked at her with sharp eyes. She smiled. “I’m just kidding.” She retreated.
She took the early flight the next day to go back to California.
And Taemin was left there… sad, but of course, he has to go on and let Juliette do what she thinks is right. After all, he had promised her to support her whatever can make her really happy.
