Weeks passed by. Chanyeol and Kai were still at odd ends and rarely did they speak to each other. Sehun was his usual cheerful self and D.O. could care less about anything except fighting and food. Suho was the mediator and tried to make Chanyeol and Kai talk to each other like normal again. You were just glad you could count on Baekhyun no matter what.

It was a restless afternoon. It was humid and hot and everyone seemed to be in a grumpy mood. All in all, it was a bad day for PE.

You and Kai were in the courts playing basketball. Baekhyun and his class were out playing soccer. You wiped the sweat off your brows and fanned yourself. *I’m exhausted. Why is PE so long?!* You sighed in weariness.

A hand blocked the sun from your face and you looked up to see the owner of the hand. Kai gave you a small smile. “Come on, Star. It’s not that hot out here. If you think this is hot, you should come to Exo. You would die of the heat there.”

You realized his efforts to relieve the tension from weeks ago and smiled back. “Then I shouldn’t go there ever. Burning to death was never an option for me.” You were joking but his expression stiffened. You noticed and grew concerned *Did I say something wrong?* You wanted to ask what was wrong when someone shouted, “INCOMING!”

Without looking up, Kai caught the basketball in his hand. You stared at him, awe-struck by his reflexes. He looked at you for a long time then walked away. *What was that look for? His eyes seem so different today. It’s like he’s sad about something.* You pondered.

The PE teacher spotted you standing there like an idiot and blew on his whistle, “NO HAEBIN! DON’T JUST STAND THERE OR YOU’LL GET A MARK!”

*Oops.* You started racing to the other side. Half an hour later, your throat felt very parched. You needed a drink right now or you would shrivel up right there underneath the blazing sun. You asked the teacher for permission and went to the water fountain. You lunged for the spout and put your lips to it. You didn’t even realize your hair was dangerously hanging towards the bottom of the basin.

Long fingers reached out and carefully gathered your hair together to keep from getting wet.

You stopped drinking and just let the cool water hit your lips. You turned the fountain off and slowly looked up. Baekhyun warmly smiled at you, “Thirsty, Star?”

You straightened up with a nod and he released your hair. “You have no idea how badly I needed water. I thought I was going to die of thirst out there.” You wiped the water droplets off your lips and sighed up at the scorching sun, “It’s too hot today. I can tell summer is approaching.” You fanned your face some more.

Baekhyun gazed at you for a few seconds then pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket. He ran it underneath the cold water and wrung the water out. You felt something cold against your cheek and gasped in surprise. Baekhyun gently dabbed the cool hankie over your sweaty face. “Physical Education will almost be over, Star. Just wait a little bit longer.” He gave you a charming smile. He was so tender and sweet that you almost melted at the spot.

Hyeri looked up from underneath the shade of the trees and saw you and Baekhyun by the water fountain. She saw him dabbing your face gently with adoration. You mumbled something and he laughed. *What the hell?! Why doesn’t he act that way around me?! I don’t understand what he sees in No Haebin! She’ll never be anything but a useless orphan! I hate her.* Hyeri steamed with fury and curled her fists.

At last the PE teachers blew the whistles to stop the games and dismissed everyone. “Finally!” Everyone was as glad as you to be over with PE for the day.

“I better go back to the locker room. See you at lunch?” You asked.

Baekhyun smiled with a nod, “You know it.”

You smiled, waved, and disappeared. You skipped into the changing room with a happy hum. You came to your locker and opened it up. You took off your shoes and were about to change when dark shadows covered your path. You looked up to see Hyeri and her friends. They were glaring daggers at you with stern frowns on their harsh faces. You glanced around *Are they staring at me?*
