Voice of my Heart
When high school rolled around, Myungsoo was well aware of girls, and he knew you were well aware of boys, too. Every time your eyes would linger on someone for a little bit too long, he got jealous. He didn’t know why he got jealous, he just knew that he did.
At this point in your friendship, Myungsoo knew everything about you, even things he didn’t really care to know, like when your time of the month usually came, and even your bra size. He had no idea why you told him these things. He couldn’t exactly relate.
“But you’re my best friend. You’re supposed to know everything about me,” you said as he pushed you on the swing. It became a tradition for you and him to go to the park and spend hours swinging at the park on the last day of summer. You’d talk about your summers and your hopes for the school year.
“I think your bra size might be a little bit too much. I’m still a guy, you know,” he said, shoving at you a little bit harder, sending you jumping out of the swing a little bit prematurely. You laughed and shoved at him as he grinned and threw his leg over the seat of the swing.
“Does it matter? Do you check me out or something, Myungsoo?” you asked, starting to push him on the swing.
“Oh, yeah. All the time. Can’t keep my eyes off of you,” he said as nonchalantly as he could. It wasn’t exactly a lie, but he knew you probably wouldn’t take it seriously. And judging by your laugh, he knew you didn’t.
“Shut up, Myungsoo!” You pushed him particularly hard as he laughed at you.
That was the day before your first day of junior year, the year that changed everything.
