Sunggyu always felt uncomfortable at business meetings with his father. His father was training him to take over the company, to earn his inheritance. It wasn’t the older men that made him uncomfortable, it was the company the men took. The geishas, the girls that looked too pretty, too wrapped up in their clothes, but still managed to be beautiful, mysterious, and alluring at the same time.
 
He always wondered what it was like to see a geisha without her makeup. He wondered what they were like, behind the mask of makeup and armor of kimono. He wondered if they were taught to be so coy, to draw their clients in until they were hopelessly in love. Sunggyu wondered if they knew how to love.
 
So, when his father introduced him to a young girl set to be his companion, Sunggyu thought maybe he would finally get some answers to his questions. But as time went on, Sunggyu got no answers, and his questions built up until he had nothing left to do but ask.

I don't remember if I've posted this to AFF before, but I started this a while ago and have recently decided to pick it up again. Loosely based off of Memoirs of a Geisha.

This story will contain some y times, and those chapters (that chapter) will be aptly marked so you don't accidentally stumble on something you don't want to read. Do not steal, do not plagiarize, or I will cut off your hands with a blunt knife in your sleep.

Because of this story, I will only ever refer to Sunggyu as Gyu-sama.

This story will be pretty short. I don't ever want to write long stories ever again.

i feel like i'm in travel machine. i vividly remember the first time im reading this few years back (was it in 2013?) and how it helps me cope with endless assignments and suffocating loneliness in those four walls of my room back in university. it's 2019 now, i'm back again like annual event -- i visit all awesome things i read here and yours included. i dont know if i'm late but, hi, how are you doing? read somewhere that you write elsewhere now, and i've yet to take my lame investigator to retrace your existence in this net-niverse, but i hope i could find where you left your pieces. i hope you're doing well wherever you are and be happy!

This was so romantic. I love how you can convey a romantic air throughout the whole story with simplicity. I also especially love Sunggyu's character because I could imagine him doing and saying those things and he felt real somehow.
