NO ONE'S POV

After their turn, Mina sits next to Jeongyeon watching the rest of the events. She doesn't know but the taller girl felt relieved that she's back next to her.

When the awarding started and Mina got to receive her medal. She stood on the stage holding her medal waving at Jeongyeon with a big smile. It almost killed Jeongyeon, she thought she has to calm her heart and went to the school backyard.

She laid under a tree and started playing music from her phone as she tries to calm her heart. It forced her to sleep from the exhaustion.

*RUSTLING*

Jeongyeon doesn't have to open her eyes to know Mina is next to her. Mina's smell always lingers in her nose, her heart senses her every time they're in the same room. For now, she wants to stay like this, she wanted this peace only she finds whenever the Japanese is next to her.

But before she knew it, the rain started pouring. It caught her off guard the first thing she did when she opened her eyes was grabbed Mina and run to the nearest shelter she could see. Suddenly her ears were clear as if she could hear the abnormal beating of her heart, the music that was playing on her phone, the raindrops, and the people inside the classroom.

JY : "Why didn't you wake me up?"

MN : "When did I ever wake you up?"

JY : "Good point, well, I guess we're stuck here for a while."

MN : "That's on you."

JY : "Ehhhhhhh? You didn't have to get me. You know I'll go to you."

MN : "After what? I know you, you always come late and you know me I don't like waiting."

JY : "Hahaha, sorry for always making you come after me."

MN : "Are you really sorry?"

JY : "Well, that's one thing I always hope for. That whenever I close my eyes you'll be next to me when I open them and it always happens. So maybe I'm not sorry at all haha." She said smiling at her.

It's like words weren't enough to let the other girl know how she feels, she looks at her. Slowly and gradually she takes her lips closer to the Japanese and before she knew it,

Jeongyeon's and Mina's lips have become one, it was magical.

But no matter how perfect or magical it was Jeongyeon couldn't say it. She couldn't say the three words that come after a kiss. She realized just being in love with her makes her heartthrobs. She meant it when she said Mina could literally kill her.

"Let's go, a little rain wouldn't be bad."

The ride back home was nothing but dreamy. Jeongyeon holds Mina's hand tighter than before, if she could she'll stop the world from spinning right now. Because she didn't want to let these soft and warm hands go.

Jeongyeon just wanted to have more time with Mina.

"Jeong, I'll see you tomorrow, okay? Don't be late or else I'm leaving you." Mina smiled at her.

And for probably the last time in this lifetime, Jeongyeon looks at Mina, the girl who holds her universe in her eyes. The pain she feels in her heart was unbearable, she wanted to cry and beg whoever is up there to take away the shunt in her heart. She wants to stay with Mina forever, she wants to grow old and be happy with her but she also knows it impossible.

"If your up there and listening to everyone. I wouldn't mind if you take me away right now. All I wish is for you to grant her someone who could hold her forever, who could love her more than anything. All I want is a life without pain for Mina, a happy ending."

She prayed as she watches the door close.

[END OF FLASHBACK]

JY : "I wanted to tell you."

MN : "When?"

JY : "From the start Mina, from the moment I saw the universe in those eyes. I wanted to tell you since we're 7."

People have always assumed that Yoo Jeongyeon is the most easygoing in their group since they're small but nobody knew at the age of 7, Jeongyeon was forced to mature because of her condition.

at the age of 7 Jeongyeon already knew the reality, the harsh truth of the world she lives in.

at the age of 7, Jeongyeon already knew how short life could be, that she has to enjoy every moment of it because she doesn't know what tomorrow brings.

and at the age of 7 Yoo Jeongyeon already knew she's in love with her best friend Myoui Mina.

Jeongyeon never saw the world as unfair, she has the purest heart out of all the people in the world but sadly it was damaged. She knows that there are things she can't control and since she knows how unpredictable her future could be. She decided not to tell anyone, not even to Mina. She didn't want the girl to suffer the pain of losing someone. She wanted to try but there's still no guarantee, so instead of saying goodbye. Jeongyeon only asked one thing from her mom, that's to spend the school festival with Mina before leaving.

She wanted to spend the last day of her childhood with her best friend, her first love. She wanted to remember how happy she was with Mina. Kissing her was never part of the plan, it happened because everything was perfect, because Mina was perfect.

Yoo Jeongyeon prayed for Mina more than she did for herself, she prayed that Mina would find permanent happiness she can have for the rest of her life, a happy ending. That's why the first time she met the younger Myoui, instead of pain she only felt genuine happiness. 

The moment she laid eyes on her, the moment those little fingers wrapped her thumb, she knew her prayers has been answered.

Myoui Mio is Mina's happy ending.

Jeongyeon's barely holding on, while Mina has broken down a hundred times now.

MN : "Jeong we can have a lifetime together. You, me, and Mio. Please say you rather grow old with me."

JY : "I'm scared, Mina. What if I don't make it?

MN : "You will, I know you will. You always find your way to me."

JY : "Isn't it the other way around Mina? Isn't you who always find me?"

MN : "I know..... I knew it since we're small you always hide in a place where I can find you easily and if I take a while you move closer to where I am. It's not me finding you Jeong, It's always been you who's been coming back to me. I don't want those 5 or 10 years, it's not enough. Jeongyeon, I want to grow old with you."

MI : "Ka-san?"

JY : "Hey kid, what's up?"

Mina couldn't turn around she couldn't let her daughter see her like these.

MI : "I was gonna ask Ka-san if I could have a slice of cake Halmeoni gave."

JY : "Ohhh, go ahead just don't forget to save some for Ka-san and Jeong-chan okay?"

MI : "Hai!"

JY : "And if you could close the door Michan."

MI : "Ehhh?"

JY : "Well, we don't want any insects flying in, I'll be with you soon."

MI : "Arraso."

The moment Mio left Mina went back to sobbing.

MN : "Jeong I'm not gonna sit around and wait again. I'm not gonna count down those 10 years with you."

And finally the tears Jeongyeon was trying hard to keep, fell off her eyes.

JY : "Mina, you know what? I'm not afraid to die, what I'm afraid of is losing that time I can still spend with you and Mio."

The Japanese looks at her, she lost all the blissfulness in her eyes. Her warm smile was nowhere to be found. Mina can only see the fear in her eyes, fears she kept for herself in a long time, fears that Mina failed to share with her.

MN : "Then why won't you do the surgery????"

JY : "Because I choose you and Mio. Is it hard to understand? I'll choose you two over anything, you two are the only thing that matters to me. I told you I'm not leaving, if I have 10 years then I'll spend every single day with you two. I rather live with a certain period of time than go do something I'm not sure of. "

MN : "But what happens after that 10 years? Huh? Doesn't that mean the same thing? You're still leaving us, Jeong, surgery will give you a better chance in life, it's a 60% success."

JY : "And it's 40% of failure."

MN : "Why are you being stubborn right now? Your mom told me you already agreed to the surgery. Why are you changing your mind now????"

JY : "Of course it would be different now, Mina, I have you and Mio. Before I don't mind if I die, I didn't even care if it was 40 50 60 fatality because I accepted it, if it was my time to go then it is. But then I found you and Mio, I learned I have a chance. Now, I get worried from the littlest thing, chest pains, shortness of breathe and even with just a headache."

"Mina that 40 percent before is like 100 now. I'm afraid of losing all of this once I step inside that room. I'm afraid of losing you and Mio after having such a short time. I want to at least be here until she grows old, I want to be here with you two until I can."

Mina falls on her knees and cry likes she's about to lose air in her lungs.

MN : "Jeong, all I want is for us to be together. Not just for 10 years, I want to grow old with you, I want to be with you forever. I can't lose you again. Is it wrong for me to ask you to give it a chance? I know it's selfish but I don't want 10 years Jeong, I want forever."

Jeongyeon looked at the Japanese, she couldn't take it anymore. Aside from the pain she's feeling because of the condition her heart has, she feels a different kind of pain just by looking how a mess Mina is right now. Seeing Mina cries like this is like a thorn in her heart.

Myoui Mina is her universe.

JY : "Arraso." She calms down. "If this is what you want then I'll do it, I'll do it for you and Mio. So please stop crying." She said and kissed the girl. "I don't want to regret anything so I'm betting on forever Michan. I'll stay, I promise I'll stay with you forever."
