Bleeding Hearts“Mr. Oh, I really have to insist on bringing your wife in to at least talk to someone” The doctor said gently, clearly trying to help.
Sehun fixed his tie in the mirror and tried to balance the phone at the same time.
“I know you’re trying to help, but trust me, she would hate it more if I forced her to go in” He explained tiredly, wondering if he was doing the right thing.
“Yes, but if something should happen to her in the meantime—“
“Nothing will happen to her” Sehun insisted.
“You can’t know that” The doctor said.
“I wouldn’t let anything happen to her. I’m taking care of her and she’s explained the accident already. I’m watching her, I’m going to be here so don’t worry” He insisted.
“Alright, but please do call if anything happens” The doctor said.
“Will do, thank you” He said and hung up.
He finished getting ready and stared at his reflection. He looked as he was, put together and in control and yet that phone call had left him feeling anything, but in control. Mina had explained away the accident, but even his immense power of denial wouldn’t gloss over the fact that she was unhappy. He stepped out of his room and walked over to hers. He stood outside her door and wished he could see through walls… he wished he could watch her all the time, make sure she was alright, that she was safe.
”Oh, hey” Mina said simply, having pulled the door open only to find Sehun standing there.
“I was going to ask if you were ready” He said simply.
She gave him a blank stare, trying to figure out what it was that he wasn’t saying.
“I am, are we leaving?” She asked.
He nodded and walked ahead. The car ride was quiet and for the first time in a long time, awkward. They had gotten used to falling into an empty silence. One that was charged with anger and all sorts of negative feelings, but one that was familiar to them both. This was different Mina realized. She didn’t know what was happening, but something had changed. She peered at him from the corner of her eyes and then glanced back at her hands. She supposed everything had been falling apart for a while now, but it was only now that she could maybe see it in him too.
It worried her.
“Try not to talk, those snakes will take any chance to jump for my throat” Sehun said quietly as he pulled the car up to the strange home she had never been in before.
“They’re part of the company and yet they would act like that, even in front of me?” She asked quietly as Sehun opened his door and stepped out. He walked in front of the car, headlights shining brightly on him, and for a split second she was reminded why all those women loved to stare at him. She shook her head softly, telling herself to delete the image of the way the headlights illuminated him in his suit and instead stepped out of the car without bothering to wait for him to reach for the door.
He gave her a perplexed look and they both hesitated for a moment as she supposed they both prepared themselves to resume their special act. He held his hand out and she hesitated before placing her hand in his. They walked up the impressive walkway and all Mina could think about was the feel of his fingers interlaced with hers. She had to use her own self-control to stop herself from running her thumb along his skin.
“They’re part of the company” He began in a soft whisper that sent chills down her back, “But they’re very outspoken on their mistrust of my ability to run it and very convinced on their family’s abilities to do so. I guess their family has a bit of a reputation for being particularly gifted in making money so they’re milking that for all i
