No. 20
Bleeding HeartsNerves of steel, she always found the phrase itself to be very clear. Someone fearless, someone who was courageous, someone who was ready to do anything. She had never considered herself as someone with nerves of steel. As she stood in front of the door of the woman she was dreading to meet, she knew instinctively that nerves of steel was something that she did not have. She swallowed back her worries and knocked twice.
The girl that opened the door was beautiful. She had short dark hair that lay with every piece in place and a figure that would make even the most confident girl self conscious. Mina dug her nails into her palm as she stared at the way the girl’s wide eyes, widened slightly further once she clearly recognized who she was.
“It seems we don’t need introductions” Mina said with as much of a cool and collected demeanor as she could manage.
The girl stood in place, looking every bit the part of innocent wide eyed victim. It only made Mina dislike her further.
“Were you expecting him?” She asked quietly, not bothering to wait as she pushed past her into the rather nice apartment.
Mina couldn’t stop thinking about the number of times Sehun had walked past this very same doorway himself. The thought sickened her.
“He’s not coming. He’s not ever going to come here ever again” Mina said.
“I-I… I’m not comfortable with you being here” She said.
“Comfortable? Why the hell would I care whether you’re comfortable or not? Did you think I’d be comfortable with you and my husband sleeping together?”
dropped a little as she closed the apartment door behind her.
“What do you want?”
“Sooyeon, right?”
She nodded.
“I’m here because of what you want. You don’t look like a e to me, I’m surprised”
“I’m not a e!” The woman snapped and Mina smirked.
“Are you not asking to get paid for ?” She asked.
Sooyeon walked to the table in the middle of her dining room and sank down to sit on a chair. She had known this was a bad idea, from the moment it was proposed she had known it was a bad idea. She had followed along because the threat of being exposed seemed worse. What she and Sehun had was meaningless and yet here she was. All she had to do was send those photographs, the rest had been left up to her and now all she wanted was to run far away from the woman who stood in front of her, hatred and disgust burning bright in her eyes.
Inexplicably, she felt dangerous.
“Let’s just leave it alone” Sooyeon tried.
Mina shook her head, “You want to threaten me and now you expect me to believe you want to leave it alone?”
“I didn’t threaten you” She said tiredly.
“You threatened my marriage, my life, me” Mina corrected fiercely.
“So what? You’re going to pay me off?” She asked in disbelief.
“No, I’d rather watch you sink our reputation before giving you a single cent. I’ll be damned if any of my money goes to you. I came here to show you something” Mina said, pulling out her phone and opening the email that sat in her mailbox.
“I made a call as I was in the car” She began, placing the phone in Sooyeon’s hands, “In the span of 30 minutes, a private investigator gave me your basic life history. From age, to parents, to family friends. How much do you think he can dig up in 24 hours?”
Sooyeon stared with shaking hands at the brief report on her life. She knew messing with someone as powerful as Sehun was dangerous. Mostly because she thought he’d be the one hurting her, she had underestimated his wife.
