“I’ll take you home” He whispered into her hair.  

“I don’t want to—“

“I’ll take you home and I’ll stay with you, you’re not alone, you’re not facing him alone anymore. You’ve got me on your side, unconditionally, I’ll be there” He promised.

She pulled away slightly, “As much as you say you use me, you have more moments where you’ve been good to me instead of lying to me”

He wondered how good he was really being when all he desperately wanted was to press his lips to hers.

“I think you’re being lied to Mina” He said honestly.

“…What?”

“Min Ji talked to me, she tried to get me to work with her, told me that you’d need comforting” Baekhyun blurted out, “That’s why I think you should go home and it’s why I won’t let you make a mistake with me”

Mina watched him carefully. She smiled softly at the man who seemed to be two different people at every single turn. She wished he would just pick whether he was good or bad.

“You’re telling me this why?” She asked, “It’s not really in alignment with the evil plan”

His lips quirked slightly, “I like to stray from the plan every once in awhile”

She watched him, “Can’t you just promise to be on my side instead?” She asked with a small and nervous laugh.

He blinked, “What?”

“You’re good at being on my side, you’re good at being my friend Baekhyun and I so desperately need a friend. I need you to be my friend” She whispered, “I need to trust you, I want to trust you, and you’ve done all these terrible things, but then you turn around and do things like these and it makes me trust you. You make it hard to not trust you sometimes”

“Mina…”

“It’s confusing. I trust you, I don’t know how, but I do and what I’m really asking is if you can please be there for me, if you can please keep my trust intact. I need you to be a person I can trust unconditionally” She asked.

“That person should be your husband” He said firmly.

She reached for his hand and held it tightly.

“I know that! I know, but I need someone else on my side” She begged, “I need someone to trust and regardless of what you’ve done, you’ve been honest about your intentions from the beginning and you’ve listened to me, you’ve been there for me”

“Come home with me, be my friend, be with me” She asked, “Because if you can’t do that then I’m going to have to stop seeing you and I don’t want that, I want to be able to say you’re my friend so you have to have a place in my life because you were there when I was at my lowest”

He watched her carefully, his heart aching at her request because the last thing he wanted, was to be just a friend. He wanted so much more from her.

“Under one condition” He began, unable to imagine how much it would hurt and was hurting to put himself in this role, “Since I’m transitioning to a strictly friendship role here, I know this is inappropriate, but I didn’t know”

“Didn’t know what?” Mina asked.

“That the last time we kissed was the last time forever”

She fell silent.

“I don’t remember enough of it, I think I should get a last kiss” He whispered.

She watched him quietly, “I know seducing me was part of the game, the ‘master plan’, but you’re so convincing Baekhyun. I almost, almost, could believe that you love me. Truly love me”
