Bleeding Hearts
“You always handle break ups so well Mina” Seohyun said, eyes wide in admiration, “You’re so strong”
“I don’t know if that’s a compliment” Mina said with a laugh as she glanced up from her computer.
“It is! You’re seriously the strongest girl I know! You’re amazing!” Seohyun promised and Mina laughed at the unabashed compliment.
“Not that I disagree, but what happened?” Kanghee asked, coming to join them.
“Mina’s jerk boyfriend dumped her today” Seohyun said angrily.
“Minho wasn’t a jerk Seohyun!” Mina scolded, “He was actually pretty great… it really was me”
“… Did you really not even let him step foot in your house? After 5 months?” Seohyun asked with a wince.
Mina grimaced, “I didn’t even let him meet Nuni…”
“Yikes” Kanghee whispered, “Who was the guy?” He asked.
“Guy?” Chimed in Seohyun.
Kanghee nodded, “The one. The one that she’s holding out for” He said nodding over to Seohyun knowingly.
“I’m not holding out for anyone” Mina snapped.
“Ok, well I was just throwing ideas out there”
“Mina’s just taking her time. It’s fine. It’s our duty as her friends to find her as many boyfriends as we can until she finds the one!” Seohyun said in agreement.
Mina sighed, “I hate you guys, can we please stop talking about this?” She asked sinking deeper into her chair.
“Mina!” Their boss called out from the far end of the room, “Can you come to my office really quick!”
“Sure thing!”
Mina shot the two giggling women a sharp glance as she stood up and smiled to her boss, following him quietly as he shut the door behind her.
“Mina, you know you’ve been doing a great job at work right?” He asked.
She nodded slowly, promising that if she got fired today of all days she was going back to Seoul, immediately.
“Don’t give me that look, this isn’t bad news” He explained, allowing relief to pass through her before he continued, “You’re one of the most focused marketing team leaders we have and I have a special assignment for you”
“Sure thing, what is it?”
“You know that small marketing firm we just acquired?” He asked.
“Yeah? Don’t tell me you’re sending me there?”
“No, no. They’re sending one of their guys here so they can learn a little about how we do things. He’ll be here today and I want you to show him the ropes here. If he has questions I want you to be the one to help. Anything he learns here he can learn and take back which ultimately profits us since they’re our subsidiary now”
“That shouldn’t be a problem” Mina promised.
“Perfect. He’ll be here any minute now so take his resume, look it over just so you get an idea over what type fo person he is and get back to your desk ok?” He asked, handing over a resume.
She took it with a smile and nodded, “I won’t let you down!” She promised, holding the resume in her hand as she went back to her desk.
Her compute pinged with an email as she arrived and she set the paper aside as she saw that it was their most recent client, sending her a thank you email for the great job they had done on their last project. She felt as Seohyun moved to stand beside her, waiting until she was done reading before saying anything.
“Oh… Sehun. Who’s that?” She asked.
Mina went completely still, the smile on her face from the email fixed in place. A million answers came to mind, but a single question pushed them all aside. Why does she know that name?
“W-what?”
“Sehun” Seohyun said with confused eyes, “Who’s that?” She asked pointing at the piece of paper Mina had set down on the edge of her desk.
She glanced down quickly, snatching the paper ne
