The Mission (Got7 & BAP)

The train came to a complete stop and I tried to get out quickly, hoping there was some way I could get away from BamBam. His excessive talking was getting way too annoying and my hand had ghosted over my knife to many times. I'd trade him for Tuan and that's saying something. You'd think that Bambam would get the hint to stop talking when I stopped answering him, but he must not be that bright.

"So, are we walking to your place or...?" He grabbed the bag that was right next to mine and started at my fast pace. It was easy for his long legs to catch up to mine.

"You're very forward, but I have a ride." He pursed his lips, probably trying to think of a way to follow me.

"Who's your ride? Oh, wait I bet I know who it is." I shifted my eyes over to see him still in his thinking state. I wonder what could be going on in that brain of his.

We walked out of the doors and I tried to look for that one expensive car out of the bunch. My eyes landed on a blue Ashton Martin and I knew I found my guy. BamBam's eyes widened as we walked over to it, parked on the far left. Mine widened for a different reason. Tuan was talking to Mino about something leaning against to side of his car. God dammit, they went to high school together. BamBam quickly took 5 steps to the left of me, closer to Tuan's black car that had Jackson in it, staring me down.

"Mark!" Tuan looked up along with Mino and I met his eyes. He gave me a little smirk before turning back to Mino. Mino beaconed me over to where he was standing and I threw my stuff in the car before walking to him side. He threw his arm around my waist and Tuan looked down at it, smirking even more to himself. What the hell was he planning?

"Mark, this is my girlfriend Hye-In. Hye-In, this is Mark Tuan. I think I told you about him. When we were in America for two years we became friends. He works for my dad now." I bowed slightly, my eyes not leaving his face and he did the same.

"Hello, Hye-In sshi."

"Tuan-sshi." My gaze was indifferent and I hoped Mino didn't detect the hostility.

"I was just asking if he wanted to go to dinner with us, but he has some other things to do." BamBam stumbled over next to Tuan and Jackson's mouth was moving fast in the car. They were planning something now.

"Actually, BamBam said he would cover for me, that's why I picked him up. If you don't mind me coming without a date."

"No, not at all! We were going to go to that Italian restaurant on fifth. Meet you there?"

"Sure. I have to take BamBam and Jackson back to the precinct first." Mino nodded and opened the door fo me to get in. Tuan walked back to his car and my eyes never left his in the rearview mirror. Mino got in a few seconds later and started up the car, revving it, and pulling out to the road.

"You've probably seen Mark around your job. He's a high-ranking police officer." Police officer? It seems like I'm not the only one hiding something from Mino here.

"Yeah, probably."

"He asked me about you since he has never met you. He told me he knew you from work. Hopefully, he isn't trying to steal you from me." He added a laugh to his last words and I joined him. I hope he doesn't reveal me to you.

"How was your trip?"

"Fine, but it was boring. All these stupid meetings that I have to attend. I wasn't even on the beach once."

"Being rich is hard isn't it." He huffed and moved one of his hands to my thigh. When he finds out who I really am, that hand is going to be the first thing that gets broken.

"Being rich helps me meet people like you." How sweet?

"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" He laughed and I answered my own question for him .

Bad thing.

Tuan walked in five minutes after our drinks made it to the table and he sat in the single chair across from Mino and me.

"I've never been to this restaurant before." Tuan looked up at the ceiling and so did Mino. I saw his hand stick a recording device underneath the table. I rolled my eyes at his nerve.

"It's Hye-In's favorite place." Mino's hand went around me again and I internally groaned. He was being overly touchy because Tuan was here and I wanted him to stop it.

"So tell me again how you two know each other?" Mino's attention was back onto Tuan and I stared at him, hoping to give the same answer.

"Work-"

"-College." I set a heavy glare at him and he shot a proud look. This bastard was trying to get under my skin.

"College? You didn't tell me that In-ah." Mino turned to look at me and Tuan mouthed "In-ah" at me. I wanted to lunge over and cut up his face with my knife so bad.

"He was in a few of my classes. I didn't think it was significant."

"Huh...So how's police work going?" I tuned out of the conversation and analyzed my surroundings. There were too many people here to kill Tuan, but if I somehow got away from Mino and looking eyes, taking him down wouldn't be that hard, but he probably didn't leave Jackson and BamBam at the precinct. That means they have to be outside and are ready for the call for backup. I also didn't have orders or permission to kill him yet. If I do, it's going against the laws and I could end up ending Junhong. That is something that cannot happen.

"Are you three ready to order?" I looked up at the waiter who was staring down Tuan, lust in her eyes. I gagged a bit and looked over to him. His face was emotionless was he gave her his order.

"And you, sir?" Mino was looking at Tuan with a confused look but turned his attention back to the waiter.

"Us two will have the chicken parmesan." He handed her our menus and she walked away with one last look at Tuan. I rolled my eyes and he caught that too. Unfortunately, so did Mino.

"So what classes did you two have together?"

"We ha-"

"Almost all of our classes were together. We majored in the same thing. She was also at some of the parties I went to with her friends."

"You went to parties in college?" I turned to look at Mino and nodded.

"A few."

"And now it takes so much convincing for you to even go to a company party." I shrugged and turned to Tuan, glaring at him.

"People change." There was an uneasy silence as Mino was thinking of asking next. I picked up my water and took a sip, checking it first for any poison.

"We're you two a thing in college?" I choked on my water and set it down, Tuan laughing at my endeavor. At least he wasn't saying anything.

"No. He was the college playboy, why would I date that?"

"Tell me how you really think about me,"

"Trust me, that's me being nice for the sake of others." He huffed in amusement, being the only one in this restaurant who knew why that was a relevant statement.

"Well, I see you two left off on rocky waters..." Mino coughed in, tightening his arm around me even more.

-If that person, whose sentiment you hold, is thinking of shying away from you. Use their weakness even more.

"We didn't even put our rafts in the water, Oppa. Why would I date him when I have you?" Mentally, I was shooting myself in the leg five times, but it worked on the outside and Mino smiled at me.

"Now, now. Let's be nice to Mark." He put his face into my hair and I turned to look at Tuan glaring.

"Oppa?" He mouthed and I drew line down to where my knife was with my eyes, sending him a quiet note of 'Challenge me.'

"Here are your orders. Two chicken parmesan and grilled fish with artichoke caponata. Have a good meal!" She left a lingering hand on Mark's shoulder, and by his look he had the same reaction I do when Mino touches me too much.

"We came to one of the best Italian restaurants in Korean, and you eat fish. Come on, Mark! I'm paying, live a little!"

"Police diet. I can't have too much food or I gain weight too quickly." Mino shook his head.

"That's bull. You've always been skinny. You've just bulked up a bit. Gain weight so you don't get thrown to the ground by the criminals you're chasing."

"I've been good at catching every criminal that comes my way."

"Except for one." I singsonged into their conversation and both their heads snapped to me. Tuan glared at me and I smiled. Two can play at this game.

"At work people are saying that there's one person that you can never catch and when you do, they slip through your fingers." His eyes narrowed.

"I have that person in my sights now, they won't get away easy this time."

"But they announced your withdrawal from that case, trying to find someone else to do it. I guess you will have to style at 99 percent." He looked down at his lap and let out a small laughed before snapping his eyes back up.

"I didn't know they send job openings through email now."

"Well, if you two would excuse me, I have to go to the bathroom." Mino stood up rapidly, trying to get away from the tension. He gave me a warning look before walking to the back. I smiled at him and when he disappeared it turned into a glare full of murder. Tuan had the same look on his face when I turned back to face him.

"Police officer Tuan. That has a ring to it, don't you think."

"NIS worker Kim. I was thinking the same thing." I laughed and crossed my arm.

"My job doesn't pay me to be truthful."

"Your job doesn't pay you at all. Unless that surging feeling of shooting down my teammate gives you enough payment." I put my hand over my knife, thinking about taking it out.

"At least my teammates didn't get cheap thrills from murdering the person sitting next to him, talking about New Years."

"You should hear yourself talk. And if you must know, JB is in a hospital right now recovering from surgery. You're not the marksman I thought you would be." That pissed me off too much. I had failed to get revenge for my comrade. I had failed Himchan.

"I can't wait to kill you with my own two hands," I said in a low voice, making sure he was the only one who heard.

"Ah, ah. I would be careful with our words. I'm recording it all here."

"And who would you take that to? Your chief? Please. If you even utter my name once, you'll be put out of a job or demoted. I know the way he works. He's very serious about traitors." He nodded his head in agreement.

"You're right. Who will I take this to? Maybe I'll play it at my funeral, but you'd be long gone by then, wouldn't you?"

"You're expecting to die? I'm flattered." He smirked at me this time, making me want to lunge over the table and cut his lips off with my knife. I hated that smirk, as provocative and annoying it was.

"Oh, no. You'll be in the ground plenty of time before me. Listen to this, North Korean, " He leaned in making sure I heard his message clearly, "When I finish with you, there might not be enough of you to even put in your red soil."

"I hope you know the same fate will come to you."

"Then why aren't you killing me right now? Oh, right. Your country abandoned you, didn't they. That's what Youngjae told us. And wait, you're confused right now aren't you? Should I defect or should I listen for the government that will never call me again? It must anger you how close you are to me, but you can't do anything." How dare he? How dare he open his mouth and speak of me and my country that way. I grabbed his wrist, placing my hand over his pulse. He looked down at it and turned his head to the left.

-Never fall back on your threats. If a person gives one to you, give a stronger one back. Scare them. -Officer SHIN

"You hear your pulse Tuan Yi-Eun? You feel your heart beating? You shouldn't relish in it because pretty soon I'm going to take all of that away from you. I'll make sure to play this at your funeral, so everyone can know who ended you. I did." I dropped his arm on the table and leaned back to the position I was in when Mino left. Sure enough, he came walking back, wiping his hands on his pants.

"Hey, sorry for cutting this short, but I have to meet with my father in a few minutes. You know how he is. I already paid the bill and you can leave when you want Mark, but I have to take Hye-In back. I'm really sorry." Mark stood and shook hands with Mino, a smile hiding the expression of bloodlust he had only moments ago.

"No, it's fine. You're father's very busy these days. I shouldn't hold his son away from him." Mino smiled at him and I could see the twinge of anger in it. His father was the reason we were leaving.

Mino put my coat on for me before putting on his own. He smiled again at Tuan before putting his arm around my waist and almost pulling me out of the restaurant. I flashed a glance over to Tuan who was glaring into my back. Mino opened the door for me and I walked out into the surprisingly light January air.

"I don't want you around Tuan again, okay?" I glanced at Mino with a look a fake surprise and he opened the car door for me.

"Why?" He got in on his side and just turned to stare at me. He drew a hand up and pushed a stray hair behind my ear.

"Because it was really hard to listen to him talk to you like I wasn't even there." I put my hand on his cheek thinking of a way to get him to fall deeper. I did see this in a drama once, so it has to work.

"Don't worry, Oppa. I'm all yours." He smiled and took my hand into his.

"Let's go home. I can cook a better dish than this restaurant anyways, and my wine collection has much more variety."

Chapter 48: I almost screamed when I saw that this had been updated recently. I was truly surprised, thank you so much. I hope you are doing fine, safe and healthy.
This is one of my favourite stories ever on this app and I've already read it more than twice. There is something about the characterisation of the protagonists and the dynamic of their relationship that is so intriguing and riveting that I come back to this quite often. I'm so excited to see how the plot will turn out. Please come back to this more often :):)
Thanks for the update again. Stay safe :)
