Chapter IX

His Uncanny Wife

Narrator

“Where are those two?” Jimin raked his hair and regretted it after. “Damn I just styled this!”

Yoongi just stared at him, wondering why he became friends with the boy. Well actually he wondered why he became friends with all of them.

Jin sighed and pulled out a chair. “You know, we should be socializing right now.”

“We look like a bunch of guys who came here just to eat.” Namjoon muttered, and Taehyung looked up and straightened his bowtie. “That’s not what we’re… here for?”

Yoongi sighed. “Anyway, where are they?”

“Kook texted me. He’s picking Sera up.” Hoseok joined in.

Jimin shrugged. “I guess the waiting game begins now.”

Jang handed a glass of cold freshly squeezed orange juice to Jungkook. Jungkook smiled and bumped his fist against Jang’s chest. “I like you, Jang.”

“Back off, I’m extremely possessive of Jang.” Sera walked down wearing her cocktail dress and holding her purse. She made a face upon seeing Jungkook. “Do I always need to tell you that bowties need to be straight?”

He looked at his bowtie and shrugged nonchalantly. “I don’t really—“

“Jang, please.” She muttered and Jang smiled knowingly, fixing Jungkook’s tie skillfully. Sera smiled in satisfaction and sat on the couch to remove her heels. “Do you think these fit my dress?”

Jungkook looked around and pointed to himself. “M-me?”

“Yes. You.”

“I wonder how you can even walk in those.” He eyed the heels warily and shuddered. She clucked her tongue and strapped them off. “Jang, can you please get my Louboutin pumps?”

“Yes, Young Miss.”

She sighed contentedly and leaned on the couch. “I wish we could ditch that party.”

“Why can’t we?”

She opened her eyes and knitted her brows. Jungkook was looking at her with a smirk plastered on his face. “Don’t you even wonder sometimes? What if we just ignore what they tell us?”

She stared at him for a moment and smiled. “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” She wiggled her brows and he grinned in return. “That we should pass by Mcdonalds on the way to the party?”

She scowled. “No! That we ditch it, dimwit!”

He nodded in recognition. “Right! I’m in.”

They looked at the staircase to see Jang descending it. Immediately he pulled her wrist and next thing they know, they were already sneaking into the garage.

“Maserati! Smooth, I’ll drive.” He chuckled and jumped in the driver’s seat.

Sera grunted and tried to pull him away. “No, I’ll drive my baby!”

“You don’t have a license!”

“So do you!”

He narrowed his gaze and motioned for her to sit. She rolled her eyes and sat down obediently. “Good girl.” He muttered, and her eyes widened, realizing what just happened. “Ya, Jeon!”

“Let’s roll.” He whistled and they were already speeding away.

The red Maserati stopped by the streets of Myeongdong. The machine purred before Jungkook switched the engine off. Sera grinned widely at the sight of the busy street.

“We should eat a lot of street food and—“

She was cut off when her phone buzzed violently on her purse. Jungkook snatched it and turned it off. They smiled to each other and giggled. “I like this new rebel thingy we’re doing.”

“So you were saying?” He chuckled.

She smiled as her eyes sparkled. “Basically, we try every food stall we see.”

“Game.” Jungkook excitedly raised his hand for a hi-five. She just looked at him and shook his head. “Just… get off the car.”

He snickered and got off the car, when he realized she wasn’t getting off. He opened the door to her side and shot her a look. “What now?”

“Do you remember me making Jang get my heels upstairs?”

He looked at her bare feet and laughed. “My god did we just go through all that with you bare foot?!”

She couldn’t help but suppress her laughter too. “I was excited!”

“Like hell you were!” He guffawed, slapping his knee. She just crossed her arms and leaned on her seat. “I guess no fun for us today.”

He shook his head and got on his knees, his back facing her. “Get on.”

“What?”

“Get on my back.”

She chuckled in disbelief. “No way is that gonna happen.”

He stood up and shrugged. “Suit yourself then.” He started walking away, and she frowned in disbelief. “Jeon!!!!”

He smirked and extended his hand. “Come on now, Young Miss.” She grunted and reluctantly got on his back, wrapping her legs on his waist. He grinned triumphantly and started walking. “See? It’s not—“

“Just walk.” She muttered.

“Cool, they have those DC Converses!” She chuckled as they got near the shoe store. He panted and walked right in. The sales ladies were a bit baffled to see two yung people in formal attire.

And one had no shoes on.

“One pair of those superman sneakers for women.” Jungkook called out and the staff looked at each other for a while.

Sera sighed and took out her credit card. They all scrambled to their feet and started working. “You should totally get the batman pair.” She poked his cheek as he put her down on the chair. Jungkook called for one staff.

“One of those batman pair. Mens.”

She socked her shoulder and grinned. “Good choice.”

They walked the streets in DC Converses, eating fish cake sticks and potato fritters. Jungkook held the paperbag that held their shoe boxes and sipped on his milk tea. “This is a hundred times better than that party. Except for carrying you. You weigh like a hundred kilos.”

“Oh shut up. I’m perfectly fit.” She replied, full of food. He snickered and shook his head. “Sometimes I wonder how people call you the dragon child of the Parks.”

She furrowed her brows and gave him a fierce expression. “See, I’m a dra—“ She started choking on her food and he couldn’t help but laugh. He handed her his cup of drink and she sipped automatically, hitting her chest as she swallowed the remnants of her food.

“I was saying,” She started again. “That I’m perfectly fierce and—“

He ruffled her hair as they walked. “I know. You don’t have to say it.” A smile plastered on his lips as she caught up with him, grabbing his arm. “I’m tired.”

“Of course you are.” He shook his head. “Pig.”

“They’re not that happy, Young Miss.” Jang said as she and Jungkook pulled up the garage. They both chuckled as they got off the vehicle. “Tell them I was spending time with my fiance. They’d love that.”

Jang bit his lip. “By they… I also meant..”

“, Oppa’s upstairs isn’t he?”

The old man nodded and watched Jungkook and Sera share a look. Jungkook smiled sheepishly and tossed her the keys. “You know what, you go handle hyung on your own.”

“Hey!”

He poked her cheek goodbye and she was left cursing on the way inside the house.

“Jang what is it? It’s not just Namjoon Oppa, is it?” She said, stopping on her tracks. Jng sighed and nodded. “You have another visitor, too.”

“What?”

The living room door opened and they both turned around.

“Hey there, cupcake.”

Her eyes widened as her purse dropped to the floor.
