I met her in a crimson-red forest.

It was a rose garden summer, and out of a black mercedes, she walked out, her big bright eyes bluish than the pure blue sky.

She reached up from a certain tree to pluck a red rose from its stem and offered it to me.

“What's your name?”

My mother told me that I shouldn't tell strangers my real name.

So I looked at the peaceful rose in my hand.

“My name is Irene.” I answered calmly.

It wasn't a lie, and it wasn't a nickname either.

It simply came to my mind because Irene suits a girl who enjoys peace, a girl like me.

The blonde girl smiled.

She was a seastorm of now long-gone innocence.

I didn't understand but I knew.

I forgot about her for 1562 days, eleven hours, and twenty two minutes.

She shouted my name one night outside my window, but I didn't recognize her until I saw her sunshine blonde hair and her ocean blue eyes.

That night, my mother fell and didn't stand back again.

I screamed for help.

And that girl carried me home, her home.

I didn't talk for almost a week.

I could only stare at the gray sky.

It was the color of my mother's eyes.

The girl sat next to me in the pouring rain. Her warm hand on my knee. She then told me that she would never leave me, not like my long gone father whose smile I had never seen before, and not like my mother whose smile I will never see again.

I looked up at her and her eyes, those eyes.

They told the truth, they held me close.

I gave her all my pieces.

I gave her everything I had and didn't have.

She pieced me back together.

One Friday night, she closed her eyes and hovered her lips over mine.

Then leaned back, our eyes fluttered open.

“What's wrong?” I asked.

She looked at me, but didn't speak.

I closed my eyes and hovered my lips over hers, then leaned forward.

We walked on the rising tide of thousand stars.

“Don't aim at my heart.” She whispered.

So why did the fall feel so lonely even with her?

We had always known that it wouldn't be forever.

They took her halfway across the world.

And I never thought that she would tell me to give up on her.

Reach out and touch the fragile moonrise.

She will think about me, and she will know, every night that I am doing the same.

I saw her in a field of dreams during the dawning of the universe.

She was a burning fire.

And I embraced her flame.

And she and I, we both knew that sunset was the most beautiful color.

I remember that day all too well.

She said she was visiting for my twenty-third birthday for an entire
