Taeny or Taengsic? What’s it going to be? Hmmm…. (:

“Taeng!” Yoona yells, grabbing his friends shoulder from behind “I have to tell you something.”

 Taeng pivots and faces Yoona, “Sure. What’s up?”

 Yoona glances around the hall, looking back and forth and pulling Taeng off to the side.

“I’m going to ask Seohyun to be my girlfriend today,” Yoona says confidently, a grin on his face.

 Taeng smiles for the latter, patting his back “Hey that’s great man. It’s about time!”

 Yoona nods, “Yeah, I’m taking her out for dinner tonight and then I’m going to make us official.”

“I’m happy for you,” Taeng replies, smiling.

 Yoona nods again, “How about you? Find anyone yet?”

Taeng half nods, “Yeah I have actually-”

 At that moment Jessica walks by, Taeng and the latter make direct eye contact. Jessica smiles, waving to him before continuing her walk down the hall, Taeng’s eyes were glued on her.

“I’ll see you in class Yoona,” Taeng trails off, running off to catch up with Jessica.

 Yoona gives off a weird look, watching his friend for a while before shrugging it off and heads to homeroom.

“Good morning Jessica,” Taeng says as he walks up to her side.

Jessica looks at him and smiles, “Morning Taeng.”

 “Where are you going? Homeroom is the other way,” Taeng says, pointing the opposite direction they were walking.

Jessica chuckles, “I know but I have to go pick up papers for Mrs. Lee.”

 “Oh I see. Would you like me to accompany you?” He asks, dorkily smiling.

“Sure, if you don’t mind,” Jessica answers, poking his arm.

 Taeng laughs, accompanying the latter to the designated room.

“Oh hey guys.”

Taeng looks and sees Tiffany looking at them, Donghae next to her.

Taeng and Jessica smile, “Hey Tiffany.”

 Tiffany looks at the two with curiosity, “Where are you guys going?”

 “I’m picking up papers for Mrs. Lee. Taeng wanted to accompany me there,” Jessica replies, looking at Taeng.

 Taeng gazes at her and warmly smiles. Tiffany holds in her breath, her eyes become daggers seeing the two look at each other so affectionately.

She grits her teeth and forces a smile, “Oh that’s sweet of you Taeng.”

Taeng smiles and nods, “Thanks.”

 Donghae rolls his eyes, “Do you mind giving us some privacy?”

 Jessica couldn’t help but burst into laughter, shoving Taeng’s arm in the process. Taeng looks at her weirdly but smiles seeing the latter laugh uncontrollably. For some odd reason he wasn’t annoyed or mad at Donghae, seeing Jessica laugh manically he couldn’t help but smile.  

Jessica wipes her eyes; tears were streaming down from laughing too hard “Come on Taeng. Let’s give them some ‘privacy.’”

 Taeng chuckles, “Okay” He looks to the couple, “See you guys.”

 Tiffany jerks her head, watching as the two go, a burning sensation courses through her skin. She couldn’t stand the sight of seeing Taeng alone with Jessica. But at the same time she didn’t understand why she gets mad in the first place.

Aigoo why do I always feel this way when I see them together?

“Just reminding you I won’t be at practice after school,” Her boyfriend says to her, regaining his girlfriend’s attention.

Tiffany diverts her attention back to him, “Huh? Oh yeah okay.”

 “Why were you laughing?” Taeng asks, carrying the papers for Jessica as they make their way back to homeroom.

Jessica chuckles, “I don’t know. The way Donghae said it made me laugh.”

 Taeng laughs, “You really are weird.”

Jessica punches his arm, sticking her tongue out in the process.

 “Do you want to hang out again after school?” Taeng asks happily.

Jessica frowns, “I wish but I have to run family errands.”

 Taeng scowls; Jessica softly touches his forearm and smiles.

“We can hang out the day after?” She reassures him, looking at him with undeniable cuteness.

 Taeng couldn’t hold his hard face; he chuckles and shakes his head “You’re lucky you’re cute.”

 Jessica chuckles, skipping along with Taeng until they reach homeroom. Taeng hands Mrs. Lee the papers and heads to his seat next to Jessica. Tiffany glares at the two in front of her, a disgusted feeling growing in her. She watches as Taeng looks at Jessica and pokes her arm. The contact made Tiffany’s stomach drop.

 She notices Taeng folding a piece of paper, putting his hands underneath the desk and delivering to Jessica. He nudges her leg; Jessica looks down and takes the paper in her grasp. Curiosity and anger rush through Tiffany’s body.

Why do they have to write notes to each other?

Jessica quietly laughs, writing on the paper and doing the same tactic Taeng did. Tiffany watches the entire class time as Taeng and Jessica repeatedly pass notes back and forth to each other. Laughter, swatting of arms, and sticking of tongues kept occurring between the two.

Tiffany felt uneasy; her mind was boggling in a swirl.

 I wonder what they are talking about.

 The school day was over, Taeng bids everyone goodbye and heads off to basketball practice. Tiffany quietly follows him to the gym. She waits for him to enter the gym so he wouldn’t detect her and she plops down on the bench.

Not waiting for Donghae.

But for Taeng.

“I’ll see you later Taeng,” Yul says, patting his friend’s back.

Taeng nods, gathering his things before heading to the locker room. He takes his shower, putting on his spare clothes, and slinging his bag over his shoulder. He exits the locker room and spots Tiffany on her phone sitting on the bench. His eyes widen in shock seeing her here.

 He walks over to his friend, “Fany-ah?”

Immediately Tiffany jerks up, stands up and smiles at Taeng.

 “Hi Tae,” She greets, smiling.

Taeng raises his eyebrow in confusion, “What are you doing here? You know Donghae’s not here right?”

Tiffany shakes her head, “Yes he told me. But I waited for you.”

 Taeng’s eyes widen, taken aback by Tiffany’s words.

“Me? Why?” Taeng asks curiously.

 Tiffany chuckles, “I want us to hang out. I feel as if we haven’t done that in a long time…”

 “You’ve been busy with Donghae,” Taeng retorts “You hardly ever make time to hang out with me.”

Tiffany bites her bottom lip, “I know…I’m sorry. Come on, let’s go for a walk.”

Taeng sighs, his barrier crumbling down. He follows Tiffany out the door, remaining silent as Tiffany leads both of them. Tiffany leads both of them to the bench they sat at before; she plops down and pats for Taeng to sit next to her. Taeng sits a distance away which makes Tiffany frown.

“How was practice?” She asks, starting off the conversation.

Taeng shrugs, “It was good. Nothing different.”

Tiffany slowly shakes her head, “When’s your next game?”

 Taeng looks at the sky, “In a week.”

 Tiffany claps her hands, “I’ll be there supporting you.”

 Taeng chuckles bitterly, “Supporting me? Or did you mean to say Donghae?”

 Tiffany’s smile fades; her stomach grows an unpleasant feeling.

“Both of you of course,” Tiffany replies quietly.

Taeng shoves his hands in his pocket, looking up to the sky. Tiffany plays with her hands, staring at her lap and remains quiet. Taeng feels the awkward atmosphere he created, he sighs and gazes at the latter.

“Sorry about that. Just disregard my last comment,” Taeng says placidly, keeping his eyes on Tiffany.

Tiffany averts her eyes to him, “It’s okay…I meant what I said about supporting both of you.”

 Taeng forces a smile, “I know.”

Tiffany smiles, her heart skipping a beat.

Taeng chuckles, “Do you remember when-” His smile fades and he shakes his head “Ah, nevermind.”

Tiffany quickly nods her head, “No tell me.”

Taeng shakes his head again, “What’s the point of saying ‘do you remember when’ anyways? You don’t remember anything that happened in the past.”

A pained feeling stabs her heart; guilt starts to rise in her body.

Tiffany trembles of guilt, “I’m sorry...”

 Taeng cringes, seeing how he hurt Tiffany again; guilt gets the best of him too.

 He quickly scoots closer to her, “No sorry. It was my fault.”

Tiffany slowly shakes her head, “But you’re right. I don’t remember anything that happened in the past. I really am an idiot.”

Taeng cups her face between his hands, “Stop. You’re not an idiot okay? I’m just glad you remembered my name. We’ve been over this remember? I love having you as a friend.”

Tiffany’s heart skips a beat; she stares deeply into Taeng’s eyes. Taeng releases her face, warmly smiling at her.

Tiffany smiles, “Thank you Taeng…”

 “Stop thanking me,” He teases “You’ll always be my best friend.”

Aigoo, I give in too easily when it comes to her.

 Tiffany nods happily, a pleasant fuzzy feeling settling over her body.

“So how are you and Donghae?” Taeng asks, cutting right into the meat.

The fuzzy feeling abruptly stops, Tiffany stares at the latter.

“We’re good,” She answers placidly.

Wishing they were talking about something else.

 “That’s good, how long has it been? Like 2 months?” He asks, looking at her.

 Tiffany nods, “Yeah…”

Taeng smiles, leaning back against the bench.

 “How are things with you and Jessica?” Tiffany asks, her turn to interview the latter.

Taeng looks at her with a puzzling face, “What do you mean?”

 Tiffany bites her bottom lip, “You guys have been hanging out every day this past month, I was just wondering how you guys are doing.”

Tiffany has been keeping a close eye on the two, watching their every action and word. For the past month, Taeng and Jessica have hung out every single day. Tiffany felt an array of anger streaming through her body thinking about it. The smiles on their face, the laughs, the flirtatious act, she felt disgusted by it. Yet she could never find a reason for all her angry feelings. A flame would just ignite every time she sees them together.

 “Uhm, good I guess would be the answer,” Taeng states placidly, tilting his head to the side.

Tiffany hides her angry emotions and smiles, “That’s good. You guys’ have been getting close lately.”

Taeng smiles, “Yeah I guess you could say that.”

 Tiffany gazes at the smile on the latter’s face, her heart begins to ache, and a sudden dark feeling takes over her body.

 His smile…

Tiffany bites her bottom lip, intertwining her fingers as she sets them on her lap.

“Mm…” Tiffany says quietly, her eyes glued on her hands.

Taeng looks over at Tiffany, he stares at her softly.

When he looks at her, his heart doesn’t skip a beat like it use too, he doesn’t automatically smile when his eyes lay on her beauty, and his ears no longer enjoy hearing her voice as much.

His mind starts to drift on Jessica; a smile quickly forms on his face.

 When I think of you Jessica… I feel happy.

Taeng starts to miss her, an aching feeling in his heart; it was yearning to see Jessica.

I’ve always understood my feelings…but this time I’m certain.

I’ve fallen for you Jessica.

Taeng quickly stands up, “I’ll take you home Tiffany.”

Tiffany gazes up at him, “Oh…okay.”

Taeng smiles warmly and shoves his hands in his pocket. Tiffany sighs, slowly walking beside Taeng in silence. They arrive in front of Tiffany’s house; Tiffany pauses in front of her door.

“Thanks for walking me home Tae…” She says quietly, “And for taking the time to hang out with me.”

Taeng grins, “Of course. It was nice being able to hang out with you.”

Tiffany softly smiles, bidding Taeng good night and enters her house.

Taeng turns around and starts to head home.

 He sighs, looking up to the sky “I know what to do.”
