Italics express what they're thinking in their mind.

“Aish, why did break have to pass by so fast?” Tiffany mutters, laying her head on the desk.

“Tiffany, you’re always complaining about school, can’t you take it seriously?” Seohyun answers slightly annoyed always hearing the same comments from her best friend.

Tiffany rolls her eyes, “School’s pointless”

The latter sighs, no sense of arguing on the first day back.

“Morning Seohyun!” A young boy says smiling.

“Ah! Good morning Yoona!” Seohyun greets back happily.

“Tiffany passed out again?” Yoona asks, pointing his finger at a lifeless Tiffany.

“Aish, you know how she is when it comes to school” Seohyun replies coldly, not looking at her.

Yoona chuckles, “Of course. Good morning Tiffany”

Tiffany grunts, adjusting her head. Yoona sighs, taking his seat next to Seohyun. As they bypass talking, Sunny bursts through the door.

She frantically scans the room before finding her assigned target, “You!” She points at Seohyun before sprinting over.

Seohyun jumps in fear of the excited Sunny, “Ah hello Sunny, what’s up?”

Sunny squeals in excitement, “I just heard some exciting news!”

Seohyun smiles, seeing one of her good friends happy, “Really? What is it?”

Before she had the chance to share, Sooyoung, Jessica, Hyoyeon, enter the room, Sooyoung and Hyoyeon sharing the same excitement as Sunny. They all gather around Sunny, Seohyun, and Yoona.

“Yah! Did you hear the news?!” Sooyoung says, containing her excitement.

“Hey! I was just about to say it!” Sunny says, pouting her lips.

“We all pretty much heard it, what difference does it make of who says it?” Jessica says bluntly, her ice cold stare stinging Sunny.

“Aish, Jessica you never cease to scare anyone with your ice cold words” Yoona says, earning a laugh from everyone.

“Yah! Can you all be quiet?! I’m trying to sleep before school starts” Tiffany yells, bothered by the many voices of her friends.

“Tiffany, this is exciting news! You have to listen” Hyoyeon says.

Tiffany groans “I’m not interested” She takes out her headphones, plugging them in before resting her head on the table again.

Sunny sighs, “Aigoo, she hasn’t changed at all.”

Seohyun chuckles, “Same old Tiffany”

Sooyoung slams her hand on the table, “Enough about Tiffany! We have to share the news!”

Everyone nods in agreement, waiting for Sooyoung to talk.

“There’s going to be a transfer student here!” Sooyoung says squealing in happiness, everyone but Yoona, Seohyun and Jessica join along.

“Uhm, what’s so great about that?” Yoona asks, completely confused.

“His dad is in the military, he got stationed here for the time being so he’ll be attending school here!” Sunny squeals again, “He was born in the states, but he’s half Korean so he’s completely fluent in both Korean and English!”

“Kinda like Tiffany and Jessica huh?” Yoona asks, everyone nods.

“That’s the news?” Seohyun says a hint of disappointment in her tone.

Hyoyeon’s eyes widen, “Aigoo! He might be really cute!”

Yoona groans, “Geez, you girls better not intimidate or scare him off.”

Sooyoung fans her hand dismissing Yoona’s comment, “Yah! We won’t do such thing! We’re friendly people”

Yoona snorts, “You guys friendly? I don’t think he’s going to be interested in a Shikshin, a shorty, and definitely not an ice princess”

“YAH!” All three girls reply, swatting their arm at him.

Seohyun laughs, Hyoyeon smirks “He didn’t say anything about me! So I have a chance!”

Sooyoung pretends to choke her, “Don’t get so cocky!”

The bell finally rings and everyone takes their seats as the teacher walks in.

Tiffany, having her headphones in, didn’t hear the bell so she remains at peace sleeping.

Lucky for her, she sits in the back so the teacher wouldn’t be able to spot her.

“Shouldn’t we wake up Tiffany?” Seohyun says to Jessica who sits in front of her.

Jessica shrugs, “Her fault for not knowing the time”

Seohyun was about to wake her up but the teacher began to talk.

“Good morning class! My name is Mrs. Lee and I’ll be your homeroom teacher for the rest of your second year” She smiles, bowing her head. “I hope you all had a great summer break. Before I get started I’d like to introduce our transfer student, his father is in the military and he got stationed here in Seoul so his son will be attending here.” She waves her hand at the door to the new student to enter the class.

“Omo, I told you he was going to be cute!” Hyoyeon whispers, Sooyoung and Sunny nod.

“Why don’t you introduce yourself?” Mrs. Lee says to the young boy.

He bows, “Annyong haseyo, my name is Kim Taeyeon however I would prefer if you called me Taeng. I hope I can be friends with you all and enjoy my school year here” He smiles dorkily, the girls swoon.

“He’s so cute!”

“I hope he’s single”

“I love his smile!”

The girls of the room began to chatter about the heartthrob student.

“Aish, he’s already popular” Yoona whispers, glancing over to Seohyun.

“Let’s see” Mrs. Lee says, scanning the room for an empty seat. “Ah! Why don’t you sit next to Jessica? She’s the blond girl over there”

Taeng followed where her finger was pointing before bowing to take his seat.

Jessica couldn’t help but to feel a little excited knowing the transfer student will be sitting next to her, however she knew she couldn’t let her feelings succumb over her so she decides to stay her ice princess self.

“Hello” Taeng says to Jessica while setting his stuff down.

Jessica smiles but doesn’t say a word, she couldn’t help but admire the assets on his face.

His baby face was something she found cute.

Taeng smiles back admiring the beauty in front of him.

Wow, she’s beautiful.

“Waaahhh! Jessica is so lucky that Taeng is sitting next to her” Sunny pouts, crossing her arms over her chest.

“I know!” Sooyoung says before glancing at Tiffany “Aish, Tiffany is really missing out on everything.”

Once class was over, it was lunch time.

At that time, Tiffany slowly opens her eyes, lifting her head up from the table.

“About time you woke up!” Sunny says, stuffing her face with bread.

Tiffany stretches, “Yah! Don’t talk to me with your mouth full!”

“I see the almighty Tiffany is awake” Yoona says chuckling, handing her bread the group bought.

Tiffany rolls her eyes, taking the bread “Thanks”

Sooyoung and Hyoyeon were in deep conversation, drooling over the new transfer student who Tiffany still has no clue about.

Tiffany scans the room, “Hey where’s Jessica?”

“Oh, she’s hanging with the new transfer student…He totally asked her to accompany him. She’s so lucky” Sunny says, sighing with jealousy.

Tiffany ‘s eyebrows raise, “Transfer student?”

Seohyun nods, “His dad got stationed here for the military so he’s attending here, he’s fluent in English and Korean just like you! His name is Kim Taeng.”

Tiffany slowly nods, Kim Taeng? Why does that sound so familiar?

“Anyways, I’m so jealous! Jessica doesn’t even seem interested in him and yet he asked her to lunch! If anything he should have asked me!” Sooyoung says, pouting.

“If he did, he wouldn’t be able to eat anything because you’d be taking his food” Yoona mutters, Seohyun laughs.

Sooyoung hits his arm, “Yah! Don’t be jealous that he’s getting all the girls!”

Yoona shakes his head, “I’m not jealous! I only have my eyes on one girl and I’m pretty sure she’s not interested in him”

Hyoyeon eyes light up with curiosity, “Oooohh, Yoona’s got a crush? Who? Huh? Who?”

Yoona immediately grows red, “Ah no one! Forget about it!”

Seohyun couldn’t help but to wonder who Yoona was crushing on, she was starting to feel a pang in her heart wanting to know who the mysterious girl is.

"So Kim Taeng huh?” Tiffany asks out of the blue, wanting to know more about the new student.

Sunny nods, “He’s so hot and cute! I wonder if he has abs?”

Sooyoung squeals thinking about a shirtless Taeng, “Omo I’m getting hot just thinking about it”

Tiffany rolls her eyes, not pleased with the information she’s receiving.

On cue, the door opens revealing a smiling Jessica with Taeng by her side.

“Wah! There he is!” Sunny says, keeping her eyes on Taeng.

Jessica walks over to us, “Hey guys mind if Taeng joins us?”

Sooyoung vigorously shakes her head, “Yes of course!”

Jessica signals Taeng to come over, he dorkily smiles “Hey sorry I’m a bit shy”

Hyoyeon smiles, “Its fine! You’re new here so it’s completely understandable that you’re shy” She extends her hand out “I’m Hyoyeon by the way”

Taeng softly shakes her hand, “Hyoyeon. Nice to meet you”

Sooyoung makes her way over, “I’m Sooyoung”

“And I’m Sunny” Sunny chimes in.

Taeng nods his head, grasping their names in his head.

“Hey man, my name’s Yoona” Yoona says, patting his back.

Taeng chuckles, “Hey Yoona, for a sec I thought I was in an all-girls school”

Everyone laughs.

Seohyun bows, “Hello Taeng-sshi my name is Seohyun”

“Ah no need to be formal” Taeng says, dorkily smiling again.

The girls sigh, immobilized by his smile.

Taeng turns his head to a girl who hasn’t spoken yet, he gently approaches her.

“Hello, what’s your name?” He asks the beautiful girl in front of her.

Tiffany was taken aback; she hadn’t paid much attention to the conversation because she kept staring at Taeng.

I know I’ve seen him before.

Tiffany snaps out of her thoughts, feeling rude that she hasn’t answered Taeng’s question yet “I’m Tiffany Hwang”

Taeng’s eyes widen; the wind was knocked out of him. “T-Tiffany Hwang?” He asks slowly.

Tiffany was confused at Taeng’s action, she was wondering why he repeated her full name.

“Yes that’s me. Welcome to Sone High School, I hope you like it here” Tiffany says happily, added on with one of her killer eye smiles.

Taeng dazes out of his thoughts, stunned by Tiffany “Thanks, I hope we can become friends”

Tiffany couldn’t help but feel happy when she saw him, other than his charming looks, he seems like a nice guy.

However, she couldn’t help but feel that she’s already met Kim Taeng.

“Taeng, let me tour you around the school” Jessica says, interrupting the moment between Taeng and Tiffany.

Taeng shakes his head, “Oh okay. I’d appreciate that”

Jessica grabs his wrist and starts to lead them out the door, Taeng waves off “I’ll see you guys later” He smiles at Tiffany before heading out.

Tiffany grows red seeing Taeng’s cute smile.

“Aigoo, Jessica’s completely hogging Taeng. It’s not fair” Sooyoung says.

“Well, who can blame her? Every guy here always falls for her ice princess look. I know I did the first time I met her” Yoona replies, taking the last piece of his bread.

“Yeah and she shot you down as soon as you laid your eyes on her” Sunny says, laughing.

“Yah!” Yoona says offended.

“Ah, Tiffany you’re all red. Are you sick?” Seohyun asks putting her hand against her forehead.

Tiffany quickly shakes her head, “No. I’m alright.”

“Ooooohhh someone have a crush on Taeng?” Hyoyeon asks, teasing Tiffany.

Tiffany huffs, “No!”

Sooyoung pinches her cheek, “Wah, is our stoned heart Tiffany falling for the handsome transfer student?”

Tiffany shoves her hand away, “No! Leave me alone!”

The bell rings, announcing that lunch is over.

Taeng and Jessica enter the room together, taking their assigned seat next to each other.

Throughout class, Tiffany kept her eyes glued on Taeng.

His soft hair, his broad shoulders, everything about him seems so familiar to the curious Tiffany.

Aish, he looks so familiar, why am I so stuck on this?

The bell rings and school was over.

“Tiffany! We’re going to get ice cream, join?” Seohyun asks.

Tiffany nods, catching up to join her group of friends.

“Oh hey Taeng! Wanna join us for ice cream?” Yoona asks as Taeng was about to leave.

“Really? You don’t mind?” He asks, not wanting to intrude on their usual clique.

Yoona laughs, “Of course not! We need another guy in our group, it’s usually just Yul and I”

Taeng smiles, “Okay I’ll come along”

Sunny squeals, “Yay! Let’s head out to the gate so we can wait for Yul”

Everyone was heading out the door, Tiffany being in the back.

She looks up to see Taeng waiting for her to leave first.

“Ladies first” He says, smiling his signature dorky smile.

Tiffany smiles, “Thanks” She exits,

Taeng catches up and walks by her side. “So how come I didn’t see you in class?” He asks.

Tiffany laughs, “I was sleeping, I sit behind you guys”

He chuckles, “It’s not good to sleep in class”

Tiffany sighs, “Aigoo you sound just like Seohyun”

He laughs, “So where are you from? It doesn’t look like you were born here”

“I was born in California”

Taeng smiles sincerely, “Ah me too!”

Tiffany eyes widen, “Really? What city?”

“San Fran baby!” He replies in English.

Tiffany giggles, “I was born there too”

Taeng chuckles, he was about to say something but Yoona grabs his shoulder.

“Taeng, I’d like for you to meet  Yul”

Taeng turns around and was greeted by a dark handsome boy, “Hey Taeng. Welcome to Sone High. I'm Yul. We're in the same grade but unfortunately I got put in another class” Yul smiles, shaking his hand with Taeng.

“Ah that explains it, thanks man. Glad to meet you” He replies.

Hyoyeon claps her hands together, “Yah! Let’s go! Ice cream here we come!”

Sooyoung links her arms through the girls and strides on the sidewalk.

“Onward!” She says.

Seohyun links arms with Tiffany and drags her along. Tiffany looks back seeing Taeng talking and walking with Yul and Yoona. She kind of wished she was walking by his side. Something about him was interesting to her. As they entered the ice cream shop, they were appointed to a long booth. Tiffany was about to go sit by Taeng but Sunny dragged her onto the other side of the table.

“Sunny-ah I can move by myself you know” Tiffany says, a little upset she wasn’t sitting by Taeng.

Sunny pinches her cheeks, “Aigoo is it because you wanted to sit next to Taeng huh?”

Tiffany blushes, happy to see Taeng didn’t hear. “Aish” She replies calmly.

“Taeng, let’s get in line for ice cream” Yul says, sliding out of the booth.

Taeng nods, “Okay. What do you guys want?”

Yoona clasps his shoulder, “Man we don’t need to get them their ice cream. Their big girls they can do it themselves”

“YAH!” The ladies reply, glaring at Yoona.

Taeng chuckles, “I was just trying to be friendly”

Sooyoung smiles, “Wah, you’re such a gentlemen. Unlike Yoona. It’s okay Taeng we can get it ourselves. We’ll wait until you guys come back.”

Taeng smiles and nods before meeting up with the guys.

“Cute and a gentleman? Guys feel my heartbeat; I think I’m falling in love” Hyoyeon says dramatically, placing her hand over her chest.

Jessica rolls her eyes, Sunny pinches her cheeks “Jealous that we’re all interested in your boyfriend Sica?”

Tiffany felt a sting of jealously wave over her. She’s hoping Jessica would deny taking a liking to Taeng.

Jessica gives another icy glare, “No. I’m not even interested in him.”

Tiffany sighs, relief settling over her.

“We’re back!” Yoona says, as Taeng and Yul trail behind him.

“Here Sica, I bought yours already” Yul says shyly, handing her the cup of ice cream.

Jessica smiles, “Thanks Yul”

Yul blushes, sliding in the booth next to Taeng.

“YAH! What about us?!” Sooyoung yells.

Yul waves her off, “It’s your turn anyways, besides I don’t know what your favorite flavors are”

Sooyoung rolls her eyes, “Okay girls let’s go”

Tiffany glances at what Taeng got, her eyes widen “Taeng what did you get?”

Taeng looks up from eating, “Strawberry ice cream with the strawberry chunks removed and waffle cone chips”

Tiffany’s jaw drops, that’s what she always gets here. The exact same order. She hated the strawberry chunks because of how they would get stuck in her teeth, and she always asked to put waffle cone chips in since the cone was her favorite.

What is going on?

“Isn’t that what you always get Tiff?” Yoona asks, stuffing his mouth.

Tiffany couldn’t find the words to say so she simply nods.

Taeng smiles, “Really? We sure do have a lot in common”

Before Tiffany could reply, Jessica grabs her wrist and drags her to line. “Come on Tiffany, it’s your turn”

Tiffany shakes her head, recollecting her thoughts. “Uhm, strawberry ice cream but can you remove the strawberry chunks? And also waffle cone chips please.”

“Coming right up Miss” The server replies, scooping her order up.

As soon as they finish paying, they head back to the booths to see Yoona, Yul and Jessica cups were empty.

“Ehh?! You guys finished your ice cream already?!” Seohyun asks as the girls slide in.

They nod, smiling cheekily.

They looked over to see Taeng’s ice cream beginning to melt.

“Taeng, your ice cream is melting” Hyoyeon says, pointing.

Taeng chuckles, “It’s okay I was waiting for you guys”

Sooyoung sighs, “He’s such a gentleman”

They began to eat their ice cream, Taeng finishing his first.

“So Taeng, what’s it like having to constantly move from place to place? It must be hard” Yul asks, as the girls were finishing up their ice cream.

Taeng shrugs, “It’s not that bad. It’s great that I’m experiencing new places, seeing new things every time. The only hard thing is making friends and then having to never see them again.”

Sunny’s face softens, “Ah so you won’t be here forever?”

Tiffany felt a little sad hearing that too.

Taeng smiles, “Actually, my dad finally decided to retire so he decided to move back to his home county, Korea, to retire and live the rest of his life here.”

“Wah! That’s great!” Yoona says, punching his arm.

Tiffany smiles, other than having the strange feeling she already knew Taeng she was happy to know he wasn’t going to be leaving her life.

The group was done eating their ice cream so they exited the shop to part their ways.

“Well I’ll see you guys tomorrow, let me walk you home Seohyun” Yoona says, extending his hand to grab Seohyun’s wrist.

Seohyun blushes but agrees to Yoona’s kind gesture, she waves goodbye before following Yoona.

“Ah they would make such a cute couple” Sunny says, wooing over how cute Yoona looks holding Seohyun.

“I agree, they should date” Jessica says bluntly leaning against the wall.

“Well, I’ll see you all tomorrow at school. I hope you had fun today Taeng” Sooyoung says flirtatiously.

Tiffany felt disgusted hearing the flirting tone in her voice.

Taeng smiles sticking his hands in his pocket, “I did, thank you all for inviting me today”

“Anything for the new kid” Sunny says, joining in on the flirtatious tone.

Tiffany remains quiet, hoping they would stop flirting with Taeng.

Jessica rolls her eyes, “Come on let’s get going”

“I’ll walk you ladies home” Yul says.

“Thanks Yul, come on ladies let’s go” Jessica says, annoyed by Sunny and Sooyoung ogling over Taeng.

“Alright, I’ll see you all tomorrow” Taeng says smiling.

Sooyoung and Sunny link arms and walk up to Jessica.

Taenge gazes at Tiffany, “I’ll see you tomorrow Tiffany?”

Tiffany smiles, “Of course. See you tomorrow Taeng. Annyeong.”

Taeng couldn’t help but marvel at how gorgeous she looks whenever she smiles, the beautiful crescent shape her eyes make.

“Annyeong, good night Tiffany” Taeng says one last time.

“Good night” Tiffany says before turning around to meet up with her gang.

Taeng waits until they left his sight before leaning against the wall.

He chuckles, “Aigoo Fany-ah, forgetful as always.”

He looks at the sky chuckling before heading home.

“Umma, Appa I’m home” Taeng greets when he enters.

Taeng’s mom is the only one who greets him, “Taeng! Dad’s still at work, he should be home soon. Where were you?”

Taeng went over to kiss his mom’s cheek before taking a seat at the dinner table, “I was out with some friends I made”

Taeng’s mom smiles, “I’m glad you made friends. How was your first day?”

Taeng smiles, “Great, it was great umma. But guess what?”

Taeng’s mom face became a puzzle, “What?
