The Story of Us

You were lying on your stomach with your legs crossed in the air as you flipped through the pages in your English notebook.

All you could think about was the offer to Cube. Your mom came in with a smile and sat down next to you. “Still thinking about it?” she asked.

Your eyebrows knitted together and you nodded.

“Did you tell Myungsoo yet?” she wondered as she your hair lightly.

You shook your head with a slight frown. “I don’t know…. I don’t think he’d want me to leave.”

Your mom flashed you the type of a smile a mother would when she begged to differ. “The Myungsoo I know would, under any circumstances, want what will be best for you. I’m sure he’ll be fine with it.” She chuckled.

Your cheeks puffed up with hot air, feeling doubtful.

“I’m going to be okay with what?” L asked as he came into your room, blowing his bangs. Your mom got up and as usual, greeted him with a hug. L smiled and embraced her. Your mom pulled away and patted his bangs. “Thanks for coming AFTER dinner.” She teased.

L chuckled and rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. “I’m sorry, I had to do some last minute errands before coming here.”

Your mother smiled softly. “I’m just kidding, Myungsoo. Anyway, I’m going to head downstairs. If you guys are hungry, call me and I’ll make you something okay?” She pinched L’s cheeks and left.

When the door closed, L slid down next to you and pulled you closely next to him. He was lying on his side gazing at you while you were still on your stomach.

“Not going out tonight with the Infinite oppas?” you asked.

L shook his head. “Just wanted to spend time with my girlfriend.”

You looked at him and smiled. “Did Dad let you in?”

“Of course, who else would have let me in? Someone here never picks up her cellphone anyways.” L said he snuggled closer to you. You blushed and slapped his chest slightly. “I do! You just have bad timing!” You slapped him once more.

“Ouch, that hurts!” L winced, making a big show of how painful that slap was.

You couldn’t help but grin a bit. You lied down next to him. “Okay, I’m sorry,” you said gently rubbing his chest with a small smile.

“Apology accepted,” L beamed and wounded his arms tightly around you.

You were looking deeply into his eyes and you felt butterflies flying around in your stomach. You couldn’t help but blush.

“My girlfriend is so cute when she blushes,” L cooed as he your cheek with his index finger. You giggled.

Gradually, L began to lean in. Your heart palpitated quickly in your chest and for the strangest reason; as if your body knew what was going to happen next, your eyes squeezed shut.

Gently, L placed his lips on yours.

Your eyes widened but then you felt warmth spread on your chest.

You and L never had your first kiss yet.

You closed your eyes, enjoying the moment as you hugged onto him tighter.

Jia Li raised her hands in a STOP motion as she and Junhyung made their way to the super market. “Wait wait wait!”

Junhyung glanced down at her in concern, “Something wrong princess?”

Jia Li nodded and crossed her arms. “Mom’s first kiss wasn’t with YOU?”

“I wish,” Junhyung said as he shook his head. Jia Li had a deep, unhappy frown on her face. “Pfffft, but you were her last... so I guess that’s okay then.” She smiled.

Junhyung laughed. “Are you only saying that because I’m your Dad?”

Jia Li bit her lips from smiling too wide and she nodded fervently. “Of course!”

Junhyung smiled. He noticed the wind was getting colder. The gray clouds in the sky made it much clear that it would soon rain. Thank god he was prepared. He stooped down to button up Jia Li’s raincoat before she could get sick.

All the while, Jia Li was scowling. “I don’t like L ahjussi.”

“Why? You already know me and your mom had a happy ending,” said Junhyung, as he finished buttoning her jacket. He pulled her hood up and then stood up. He gently tugged her along while Jia Li stayed quiet, clearly gathering all her thoughts.

A silence followed when they stepped into the bright supermarket. Once Junhyung picked up a basket to carry the items, she spoke.

“But but but but!” Jia Li blubbered, “Mommys first kiss should be with you!”

Junhyung stared at her with a soft expression. “Yong Jia Li, which do you think is more being important? Being someones first or being someones last?”

Jia Li opened to speak but then stopped herself. Her lips pressed in a tight line, following her Daddy as he softly pulled her along the aisle.

“You’re very smart, Princess.” Junhyung remarked, placing a can of tuna inside the basket. Although she said nothing, Junhyung knew what her answer was.

Jia Li stared up at her father, blinking fast. “How did you know what I picked, Daddy?”

Junhyung chuckled and dishevelled her hair. “Because you’re my special little girl. I know everything about you.”

“Then do you know what I want for dinner?” Jia Li retorted with an evil glint her big endearing eyes. Junhyung arched an eyebrow at her.

“We’re not going to have pancakes if thats what you want.” Junhyung said, contrasting the difference between apples. Jia Li crossed her arms. *Mommy, if you were still here, I bet you’d make me pancakes for dinner, right?* She smiled at the thought and secretly wished you would pay Junhyung a visit tonight in dreamland to convince him that there was nothing wrong with having pancakes for dinner. *I'm depending on you mommy!*

You finally pulled away from L. You both were looking at each other lovingly but then you realized you should probably tell L the news.

“Hey Myungsoo….” You said sweetly as you cupped his cheeks. “You’d want me to do things I enjoy right?”

L raised his eyebrows in confusion but nodded with a smile, “Of course. I want you to do things if it makes you happy.”

“Even if you don’t approve of what I do?” you asked, pressing on with the questions.

His eyes widened slightly but then he nodded, “I guess... As long as you’re happy then I’m all for it.”

You smiled that was exactly what you wanted to hear. You kissed him several times on the cheeks, making him blush and laugh at the same time.

“I’m going to be transfering to Cube School of Arts,” you declared once you leaned back.

His eyes widened as if he had heard wrong. “What? You are kidding me right?” L whispered in disbelief.

Your face fell, not expecting to see that type of reaction.

“No.” L shook his head. “Absolutely not.”
