You were sitting at your make up desk, prepping yourself for tonight. It’s been awhile since you and Junhyung were able to spend quality time together. Ever since the birth of Jia Li, the two of you have been extra busy; there was no time for friends anymore, going out and partying became non-existent, it was nothing but work and Jia Li; even your relationship with Junhyung became a bit distant since the two of you placed Jia Li first.
It was nothing you could complain about though. The both of you loved Jia Li so much.
You rubbed your tummy smiling to yourself remembering 11 months ago when Jia Li was still in your belly. As you combed through your long dark brown hair, your mother came in and smiled at you with Jia Li tightly bundled up in her arms. You looked up and saw your mother through the mirror. You turned around and beamed at your beautiful daughter who was sleeping cosily in her grandmother’s arms.
You stood up and gazed at your mom with warm eyes. “Are you sure about tonight…?”
“Aiyah! Go and have fun with Junhyung tonight. The both of you deserve it.” Your mother lightly patted your head as she rocked Jia Li back and forth.
You couldn’t help the smile from growing on your face. You took a step towards her and pressed a kiss on your mother’s warm cheek. You bent down and Jia Li’s round head and kissed her cheek as well.
Junhyung walked in and his eyes went wide at the sight of you. You looked absolutely beautiful in your fitted black dress that kneaded every inch of your body. Your long dark hair flowed down your shoulders in soft waves effortlessly. However, he couldn’t help but note that extra glow that shrouded you when you looked down at Jia Li. The affection on your face was pure and filled with love. He felt his heart skip a beat. This is my family, he thought.
From the corner of your eyes, you spotted a figure looming by the door. Automatically, you knew who it was. *Junhyung oppa.*
You turned and gazed at him. Although the two of you have been together for nearly four years, he had never failed to make your heart skip a few beats. Especially on a night like tonights.
He looked far more handsome than you had ever seen him in your life. His dark brown hair was slightly dishevelled, but in a manner so eloquent that it made you melt. He wore a white dress shirt with a cute black bow and black dress pants. He looked like a cute waiter; you blushed as he smiled at you. His hair slightly wet at the top from the drizzle earlier.
Junhyung came into the room and stood by your side.
“Bye Jia Li,” Junhyung cooed with delight and happiness, “Mommy and daddy will be back soon!” He patted her head gently and then stuck out his hand for you. You smiled happily at him as you eagerly slipped your hands into his.
“Bye omonim,” Junhyung turned to your mother and leaned in to kiss her cheek. She smiled and nodded bye with Jia Li in her arms.
Our baby… you thought with a tiny twinkle in your eyes.
Junhyung led you to the passenger seat and opened the door for you like a gentlemen. You stepped in and he closed the door gently. You buckled your seat belt while Junhyung came in. Before he could tuck his seatbelt in, he turned towards you with love glazed eyes.
You faced him and couldn’t help but melt at his stare.
“Yes?” you nearly squeaked. Though you’ve been dating Junhyung for so long now, every time he looked at you, it always felt like the very first time. You still got those butterflies in your belly and your heart thumped heavily in your chest.
Junhyung smiled your favourite crooked smile, “you look beautiful.” You smiled sweetly as you patted his bangs away from his eyes, “and you look very handsome.”
He gently cradled the back of your head and pulled you forward for a short, but sweet kiss. Junhyung smiled as he pulled away, buckling himself to his seat as he started the car.
He took you to a beautiful 5 star restaurant. Apparently it was one of the most famous Italian restaurants in Seoul city. Even from outside, you found yourself ogling in the sheer presence of it. It was big, and beautiful. The outside was white with pretty vintage styled windows. Junhyung took your hand and laced his fingers with yours tightly as he led you to the door. You could already smell the delicious fragrance of sizzling meat and fromage from outside.
You and Junhyung waited for awhile for the seats. You made funny faces at him while he just chuckled at your cuteness, holding you around waist. “I can’t remember when was the last time we went out to eat.” You put a finger to your chin thoughtfully.
Junhyung chuckled, “babe, it wasn’t that long ago. We went out to buy pizza last week.”
You shook your head as your crossed your arms. “I meant romantic dates.”
Junhyung smiled as he pulled you closer. “It’s been too long.” He breathed in your scent and gazed at you. You gazed back and all of the butterflies came back. “I miss this,” he said sweetly.
You poked his nose and nodded in agreement.
The waiter finally called your names. Once again, he took your hand and led you to the table behind the waiter. The waiter was about to pull out your seat but Junhyung pushed the flustered waiter away. You couldn’t help but giggle. “Thanks oppa.”
A happy grin appeared on his face as he walked towards his chair. He sat down and handed the menu over to you. You looked at the menu and your eyes widened at the prices. “Damn, this is too expensive.”
Junhyung shrugged nonchalantly, “I don’t care if it’s expensive, babe. Just but anything you want. It’s my treat. It’s OUR date.”
You shook your head, “Oppa… let’s leave. This is way out of our budget.” You grimaced at the prices on the menu.
Junhyung gave you a look and shook his head. “Tonight, it’s all about me expressing my love for you. Yeah? So please, order something, my love.” You felt yourself sigh as you melted down into your seat in defeat. He did that thing with his eyes again, that thing where his eyes get all soft and gentle, making you lose and to cave in. Those darn puppy dog eyes of his will be the death of you.
You ended up choosing pasta, while Junhyung got steak. When your dish arrived, you almost cracked up laughing. You were not sure whether to be happy or be upset that your food… looked like that. It was basically little pasta shaped like balls filled with cheese. Junhyung saw it and joined in laughing.
“We can share mine,” he offered with a bright smile. The waiter brought out Junhyung’s steak and he beamed happily at his delicious meal, clearly statisfied with it. While you sat there stunned at your little pasta balls… You took your fork and stuck it in the balls as your popped some in your mouth.
To your surprise it wasn’t that bad. It was good… but not worth the money. You planted your fork down on the cheese ball and stuck it to Junhyung. “Say ahh baby,” you winked.
Junhyung smiled shyly and opened his mouth as you fed him sweetly. His eyes widened, “Holy crap, it’s freaking delicious.”
You laughed a bit as you danced in your seat, enjoying this moment with Junhyung. He cut a piece of his steak and fed it to you. You ate it happily. When you were done eating you leaned back to your chair and huffed a breath. “I’m really full…” You were about to lift your hand up for the bill but Jungyung stopped you.
“Babe wait!” Junhyung smirked. “Don’t forget about the dessert!”
You glanced down at your watch and frowned. It was almost 10. Jia Li might start crying if she doesn’t see you or Junhyung by then. You bit your lip but once again, sunk into the depths of his mysterious eyes and agreed. “Let’s eat quickly, we have to go back to our baby.”
Junhyung nodded as he grabbed your hand. “Won’t take long, trust me.” He lifted his hands up and his eyes rounded a bit as he smiled widely.
The waiter already popped up by his side in an instant. Your eyebrows rose half in suspicion and the other half in slight curiosity. The waiter already had something in his hands. You watched as he placed the plate of whatever it was down on the table.
Instantly, your eyes flew wider than it had ever been before. You cupped your hands over your mouth as you gasped. On the plate, in the very middle was a glowing white box that was propped open. In the centre, big and gleaming underneath the dim restaurant lights, was a beautiful diamond ring. Around the plate was a letter written in chocolate writing:
To my best friend, the love of my life and my everything
We have been through so much together;
The good, the bad, the gruesome, and the misfortunes
Yet here we are today, as strong as ever
and still as in love as the very first day.
And we even now have a family of our own.
I can’t imagine my life with anyone but you.
Our memories, our love, absolutely everything.
So will you allow me the honour of marrying

You felt your eyes burning with tears as you looked up at Junhyung, who was smiling back at you with glassy eyes. His hands gripped tighter, “So will you marry this fool?”
You nodded fervently, unable to let the words escape your throat.
Junhyung got up and picked up the box. He plucked the ring out softly then took your hand gently as he slid the ring down your skinny finger. You couldn’t believe it; you were now engage to the love of your life. You got up and slung your arms around him. Junhyung wrapped his arms around your waist. You didn’t realize but everyone in the restaurant was watching. They clapped and cheered in delight.
Junhyung pulled away as he looked deeply in your eyes. “You’re mine forever.”
You bumped your forehead against his and with a small smile, you whispered, “forever.”
