"What's it like?" (memories)
It (does)n’t happen - intermediate -
Minho was peeking his head around the corner, large eyes far too wide, while Jinki was puckering up for a kiss from his girlfriend – their first public kiss to be exact. He thought they were mostly alone but Minho was apparently not content waiting back where Jinki had told him to while he saw his girlfriend off from the park. It was only right, being the second ‘real’ girlfriend in his life. It’s what a boyfriend does.
Their lips met in a clumsy kiss while Jinki saw Minho still staring out the corner of his eye, because now he couldn't relax and shut his eyes like he had planned. Not with ‘Big-eyes’ watching like some sort of prowling animal. Soft arms wrapped around Jinki in a tight hug before his girlfriend pulled back with a smile and told him she'd see him later, looking oh so cute...
Jinki turned to wave her goodbye, a little flutter-hearted, and once she was out off sight he turned around to find Minho no longer peeking around the corner. Jinki rubbed his reddened face, feeling embarrassed and a bit humiliated. It certainly hadn’t gone as he had planned.
“What's it like?” Minho asked later, while shoving street-food snacks into his mouth at the current food stand they stood at, picking up meats with toothpicks, “Kissing.” He asked a bit quietly, but his tone of voice was very forward, like many curious kids his age.
Jinki chewed slowly, trying to figure out what to say. “Hm..” He put more food in his mouth and chewed harder, lost in a teenage funk for what to do with himself.
Minho blinked big eyes back at him, cheeks full while his chewing stopped.
“This is really good, no?” Jinki poked his toothpick into another piece of hot meat to quickly drop it into his open mouth, shutting up. He honestly didn't want to try to explain the feeling right now. It was complicated – but really not, at the same time. In other words, he was shy and awkward. Puberty was no easy task. Glancing at Minho's mouth, lips that almost seemed enticing in the craziest, nonsense away, made Jinki even more confused and awkward about the curious question. He had no idea what to say.
Minho sulked and stuffed his mouth impossibly full, having a harder time chewing it all even. Fourteen was a tough age, huh?
Jinki hoped his friend wouldn't choke.
There was lucky silence between the two while they munched on snacks, before Jinki reached over to wipe meat sauce from Minho’s chin helpfully. Minho twitched back, still chewing, but when Jinki tried again, not all the food gone apparently, the younger boy yelped as a nail scraped over his clean skin. Jinki laughed with an apology as he leaned back. “Sorry, I thought you had food still.”
Minho looked to Jinki with wide, sulky eyes. “I will scratch-”
“-Freckle..” Jinki giggled with his shoulders and chewed on another piece of meat. “Just a freckle.”
“Really?” Minho blinked.
“Another tiny freckle on your face..” Jinki pointed to his own cheek, like it would help to point out his own, faint facial freckles under a bumpy teenage complexion.
“Awh.. I’m turning into you.. but taller..” Minho smiled a little now, and it only grew as he continued, “And more handsome.. and smarter.. and less acne-” Minho’s smug rant was cut short when Jinki pinched at his freckled face with a forced, aggressive smile.
“Let’s not tease our elders.. Heh heh..” Jinki bit at his food harshly, growing tired of the younger’s teasing.
“I’m gonna tell your girl-”
Jinki’s hand wrapped over Minho’s mouth from behind and he quickly threw more than enough cash at the stand owner while he pushed Minho away with him. That was enough for one day. They walked away with Minho making kissing faces in a poor imitation of Jinki, or just kissing in general, laughing about it as Jinki tried to hide his face.
