Flick (memories)
It (does)n’t happen - intermediate -
Jinki covered his mouth, trying to hide his laughter even though his wrinkled eyes showed he was smiling widely. He watched as his twelve-year-old friend backed away with a pout between puffed-out cheeks. Minho rubbed his forehead, causing it to redden further under the small mark.
Minseok grinned, threatening to flick Minho’s forehead again.
“Hyunnng!” Minho whined, stepping back for more distance.
“That’s what you get.” Minseok crossed his arms with slight smugness. He added in a childish tease, “Big-eyes.”
Jinki tossed the soccer ball he held in his hands into the air, waiting for the brothers’ mini fight to end so they could resume their casual game of soccer. The name-calling was a sign of more serious fights, but Jinki stayed out of it, like usual. He wasn’t really sure how do step into a family fight. He had little experience there, and not much family home to fight with in the first place.
Minseok’s older friend playing with them moved closer over the grassy field, teasing the youngest too, causing Minho to lower his head in public embarrassment. Before Jinki could even have a reaction though, Minseok was frowning at the other teenager.
“Minho was right. They get the point.” Minseok told his friend suddenly, playful expression dropped.
Jinki blinked, slightly confused. It took him a moment to realize Minseok was suddenly sticking up for his brother after teasing him mercilessly himself. Minseok motioned for Jinki to toss him the ball, and Minho looked up again, eyes big as ever.
“Here.” Minseok handed the ball to Minho, giving his little brother a light shove to move down the field. Minho stared a moment then ran along with a wide smile and twinkle in his eye. He called for Jinki to follow him – game back on.
For Jinki, he was still trying to understand how the Choi brothers worked.
Loneliness would prick at him though if he dwelled too long. But somehow, Minho’s goofy smile and silly voice would remind Jinki he wasn’t so alone.
Not anymore.

EDIT: And there goes subs again. And again I don't understand.
