It (does)n’t happen - intermediate -
“I’m sorry I keep you around.”
Minho leaned his head on his brother’s shoulder, trying to pay attention to a soccer game on tv they were watching together. It just couldn’t quite hold his attention like it used to. His brother though, he still loved it. He should be out there with friends and enjoying his college life, right? Not here. Not with him when he can't even enjoy watching a game on tv.
Minseok flicked Minho’s head, grumbling, “I like being here.”
Minho flinched a little from the gentle and familiar action. “Such a liar.”
Minseok pouted, dropping an arm around Minho’s shoulder in a light headlock. “I like the girls around here.”
“That’s a more believable lie,” Minho laughed into Minseok’s shoulder, eyes closing.
“Don’t drool on me, You did it enough growing up.” There was a slight smirk to Minseok’s tone of voice, teasing back while Minho’s mouth hung open in laughter. If he wanted to pry into Minho’s sudden announcement, he wasn’t doing it now. Maybe he was just used to the mood swings now.
Rebellious and childish, Minho moved his head up, wet tongue out to quickly run it along Minseok’s face. Minho was shoving himself away as Minseok scowled and made a loud ‘ack’ sound. Minho smiled, poking his brother with a bare foot as he laid back over the couch. “You shouldn’t be around me, I tend to drool.” Minho uses it as a joke, but he was honest about his brother leaving, or wanted to be. If Minseok really did leave though, Minho wasn’t sure how he could handle his parents on his own.
Minseok wiped at his face with the back of his hand, nose wrinkled. “Are you trying to make me mad?”
Maybe. He did once. Why not again?
Minho shrugged. He poked his brother with his foot another time.
Minho squeaked when Minseok pulled him down the couch on his back, grabbing him in a bear hug.
“I’m trying to watch this game, why won’t you let me?” Minseok whined a bit, reminded Minho more of himself than their father.
Minho smiled, tension he suddenly felt melting away. He wasn’t afraid like in the past when he was jumped on. He could relax and play along, head lifting off the couch to at his brother’s skin again, gaining a disgusted shout from Minseok and loosened grip on his body.
Minho nearly blurted out ‘Don’t leave,’ as if this was the end and his brother was going to finally listen to him and leave him behind like he should. Though long sleeves still covered his arms, his shirt rid up his stomach due to being pulled down the couch and if Minseok looked he would find bruised skin from scratching in Minho’s sleep.
“Ah! I missed the play.” Minseok twisted his face in Minho’s shoulder while the younger laughed loudly with heart.
Minho cringed a little, head wanting to turn and see the game suddenly with excite ignited - spark of the self he knew flickering again. Minseok climbed off, leaving Minho grabbing desperately for that part of himself that had left him and he missed so much now.
It was too late though. That self was gone again, leaving Minho unable to focus on the tv as he slowly sat up and moved out of Minseok’s space, shirt being securely tugged down again.
Moments later, Minseok slapped at Minho excitedly, wide eyes on the tv. “Oh..no. That was a horrible move!”
Minho mumbled, eyes falling to the floor, “Yeah…”
