Finding Out Your Secret

The Female Hoya

Hoya slightly stepped forward, making you invisible towards the two people waiting outside of the company.

Who are the two people outside the company and why are you so nervous?

“Stay quiet,” He whispered. “You should get back onto the van until they leave.”

Seeing that it was the best thing to do, you complied and quickly got back onto the van and closed the door. Your manager was confused but Hoya mouthed that he’d explain later.

“Annyeonghaeseyo,” He bowed to your parents, who were impatiently tapping their foot on the ground.

“It’s that boy that performs with our daughter!” Your mom exclaimed. “Where is she?” She looked behind him for any sign of you.

“She’s not here.” He said slowly.

“Don’t you lie to me; do you know who we are?” Your dad asked.

“The owners of Seoul’s biggest fashion company.” He replied. “And I’m serious, sir. She’s not here -- at least where we are anyway.”

“Exactly, and we demand to see our daughter, wherever she is.”

JungYeop happened to come out of the building at this moment and saw Hoya in a conversation with some familiar people.

“Jungsoo?” He asked, walking out. “Why, it is you! What brings you here?”

“JungYeop?” Your dad asked, in the same matter. “I can ask you the same thing.”

Hoya took out his phone, sent a quick message, and dialed a number.

“My dear younger brother, I’m the CEO of this company.” He answered.

“So all these years you’ve disappeared without a trace, you were the CEO of an entertainment company?!” Your dad asked, incredulously.

“Yes,” JungYeop replied.

“My daughter happens to be one of your artists.” Jungsoo said, your mom nodding. “We want to take her back. Cancel her contract. Do whatever, as long as she doesn’t dance anymore. Make up any lies.”

“I knew the moment she came into those doors that she was my niece, Jungsoo. It’s not that easy. I can’t just cancel her contract, when she’s already signed it. There’s a certain year limit. Plus, she’s capable of making her own decisions, she’s already 20, right? She doesn’t need you to come and demand what you believe is right.” JungYeop said. “She’s an amazing dancer and she’s finally living her dreams. Why is it hard to see that this is what she wants to do for the rest of her life? Why is it always about you?”

Jungsoo was stunned for a moment. “I-I – she –“

Your mom stood forward. “Dancing will get her nowhere. Now, being the heir to a big fashion company would. Plus, I’m sure she’s not that great anyway. She barely debuted, not many people would notice her missing from the entertainment world.”

Hoya was surprised at what your parents were saying. They were completely different from his, who supported what he did and encouraged him to do his best. How can your parents just say that? Now, he felt bad that he once threatened to tell your parents about your situation.

“Au contraire,” JungYeop said, “She’s quite famous. First off, how did you find out that my niece was an artist?”

“We were flipping through the channels and suddenly saw our only daughter on TV, doing what we’ve told her many times, not to do! Do you know how shocked we were?!” Your dad exclaimed.

“How many shows have you seen since then?” JungYeop asked.

“Just that one. That’s all we need to see.” Your mom answered.

“Did you even watch the performance where she and Hoya won Inkigayo? They were only a rookie group, competing against other artists that have been in the industry for so much longer, yet they won the award. You should be proud of her.” He said. “Unbelievable. Jungsoo, when will you get it through your head that not everything will go the way you want it? You were never the supportive type when we were all younger, and you still aren’t.”

“Don’t go pointing fingers! You –“

“STOP! JUST STOP IT!” You yelled, arriving at the scene, angry. “Stop arguing!”

“~~~!” Your mom exclaimed. “You’re in a lot of trouble missy!”

You hung your head down low.

“You heard everything?” JungYeop asked.

You nodded and looked over at Hoya, who guiltily showed his phone.

“Did
