THE FOOL WHO LEFT
April FoolsThey were all there when she stepped inside the KTX going to Seoul. It was going to be a really, really long trip that she felt good everyone she knew—her mother, her friends, and even Mijoo—was there to see her off.
Her father didn’t come to bid her farewell, but she didn’t mind. He always had his mind already made up anyway. He made it a point to let her know he would never acknowledge her childish dream of coming to Seoul and being able to do what she wanted there by not sending her away along with her mother. He refused to, even when she came into his office this morning to say goodbye. A part of her felt hurt seeing her father stood by his ground.
How could he persist not to acknowledge her and her wants?
This was something she always just only wanted from him. To be recognized for her hard work and to be acknowledged for what she was really good at. But he never listened to her. All that her father did was cut off her wings and make her his pretty, little doll at the corner he could boast about to his friends as the most perfect daughter. Knowing this was not true, after everything she’d been through, she was disgusted by how she was only being used by her father. She was a mere instrument of a politician. So that he would be able to show them he was a man that had everything, that had a perfect life, that he was someone they should all be envious of, even though he was—really—just all so ed up.
There was no way the mayor of that town was a benevolent man nor a perfect father to envy. He was just like every other ambitious man out there.
There was no way she was the perfect miss everyone was looking up after for, too. She was just as two-faced as her father. Who knew? Maybe she even took after her father with regards to her ambitions. Why not, right? Joohyun even had the guts to leave everyone she loved behind for the sake of chasing her dreams.
And the thing she was feeling most guilty about was the fact that they understood her and didn’t question her. They forgave her despite not saying anything earlier. They supported her dream to dance ballet again and even told her to study well to come back with pride. She would have been filled with so much joy knowing this had she not thought of Sehun.
Sehun refused to see her after that day. They broke up and after that she only heard he had himself locked inside his room. He didn’t come out and hardly ate anything. Regret filled her knowing this. Mijoo made her aware of what was happ
