I walked home. Is Jessica smart or I’m just a bad liar?

FLASHBACK

"The main character's name isn't you by any chance, right?" Jessica put her hands together and put it under her chin, a smile on her face.

“M-me?” I pointed to myself

“Mm-mm.” Jessica nodded

“Unnie, what are you talking about? There’s no one-sided love going on.” I grabbed a biscuit and bit into it

“Ya, lying is a sin too you know. Do you want to go to hell?”

I choked on my biscuit and started to cough.

“Omo, here drink some water. Sorry. I shouldn’t have said that while you were eating.”

“It’s fine unnie, no big deal.”

“So…whose the lucky guy?” Her smile returned

I silenced. I really couldn’t tell her that the one I like is her boyfriend, she would totally freak. I could just imagine myself saying ‘The one I like is Donghae oppa and I really want to steal him from you.’

“Just…someone back at home.” I answered

“Really? I thought he would be also an artist.” Jessica gave me a knowing smile

Does she know? No, she probably doesn’t. If she did, she would have told me. I looked up and was surprised to see that I’ve already arrived home.

My phone started to ring. Donghae oppa? Why is he calling now?

“Oppa, what is it?”

“you -sshi, I…she…we…”

“O-oppa? Oppa!”

He hang up. Something is seriously wrong, I heard him crying. I ran to SJ dorm.

“Annyeong-hasaeyo oppa.” I bowed down

“Come in, come in.” Leeteuk ushered me inside

“Do you want something to drink? Juice? Coffee? Milk? Soda?”

“Uh…that’s alright.” I smiled “Oppa, is Donghae oppa here?”

“Ah, so that’s why you came here?” Leeteuk gave me a knowing smile

I nodded my head

“He isn’t. Earlier, when we were about to go home, he said he wanted to stay and practice more.”

“Thank you oppa.”

I rushed to the door only to bump into Kyuhyun.

“Oppa, sorry.”

I ran out of the door. I really hope he’s at the building. I arrived at the SM building, asked people if they saw him and searched the rooms but it was useless, he wasn’t there. Oppa, where are you?

I stopped running when I finally saw a familiar figure in front of me. That backview, I would know that anywhere.

“Oppa..” I laid a hand on his shoulder

Donghae faced me and I saw tears in his eyes “Oppa…”

Donghae pulled me into a hug tight and started to cry on my shoulder.

“Oppa.” I closed my eyes and hugged him back

“I didn’t. But I remember your name, Donghae, which means east sea so I figured you’d probably like the water.” I explained

Donghae turned and smiled at me “Thank you for finding me.”

“Oppa, we’re friends right? That’s what friends do.”

Donghae looked away as his smile faded.

“Oppa, what exactly happened?”

“Jessica…broke up with me.”

“What?” My eyes turned huge “Why?”

“I don’t even know. She just suddenly called and said that she wanted to break-up.”

“I’m sorry.”

My heart hurts seeing him like this but I can’t cry in front of him. I have to be strong.

“What are you sorry about? It’s not like you’re the one who broke up with me.” Donghae ruffled my hair “Why didn’t I fall in love with someone like you?”

Yeah. Why didn’t you?

“Oppa, stop joking around.” I turned to face the water

Donghae smiled “Who said I was joking?”

“Stop it or I’m leaving.” I frowned

“You wouldn’t do that.”

“Who said I won’t?”

“Me.” Donghae answered smugly

If only I didn’t love him.

“But…“you -sshi.” He said as he put his hand on mine
I looked at him

“You would never really leave me right?” His voice seemed broken and his eyes were teary-eyed

“As long as you want me to stay by your side, I would never leave you.” I told him

He smiled at me “You’re a good friend.” He said as he squeezed my hand
