Grand Opening
Another Beginning: When I Meet You-ANOTHER BEGINNING: CHAPTER 7-
Just like my promise to my father that I will bring Youngjae and Yugyeom to Hongkong, now we are in the airport. I told Youngjae about the grand opening and how my father wished he can meet him there.
Yugyeom immediately excited about going abroad since it’s his first time going abroad while Youngjae seemed a bit hesitant. I assured him so much that he will be okay and I will keep him company everywhere, even to the bathroom. This joke got his sense back and finally he said okay.
“Appa? Is grandpa in Hongkong now?” Yugyeom is clinging on to Youngjae like a baby koala while we are waiting our boarding time.
“Yes, baby. Grandpa is in Hongkong. He called a while ago when you slept. He said that he can’t wait to see you.” I smile to him. He nods.
“Daddy…” he lifts his head a bit to look at Youngjae. Youngjae looks down at him, smiling so beautiful, “Yes, baby?”
“… uhm, I like being in your embrace, Daddy. Your heartbeats make me calm and safe. And I love your parfume, daddy. I am sleepy again.” He says as a yawn escapes his mouth. I chuckle with Youngjae, don’t really think about the meaning behind his words.
“Then… sleep well, baby. I will wake you up when we will get to the plane. Alright?” Youngjae gives him a kiss on his forehead. In no time, Yugyeom is knocked out again.
“Baby… let’s take a selca.” I take out my phone and take a few pictures with Youngjae.
“By the way, baby…” I pause as I put my phone back, “I notice that you hang a picture of us in your room. But, I don’t really remember about that picture. Why is it, baby?” I ask him what has been in my mind since the first time I spend the night in his home.
“Oh… that… uhm, well… I…” the announcement about our boarding time cut his words. And I don’t ask him again as I am busy to take our belonging.
We arrive in Hongkong and my father is the one who pick us up when usually he will command his driver.
“Youngjae-ah… Yugyeom-ah…” Yugyeom runs towards him. They hug tight.
“Grandpa, I miss you! And this time, I will win the games, grandpa!” Yugyeom excitedly say while he is in my father’s embrace.
“Oh, really? Well… I get you a new game. So, let’s play when we arrive at the hotel.” My father informs him and that gets Yugyeom so excited. We chuckle.
In an hour, we arrive at the hotel and my father says that I must be rooming with Youngjae while he will be rooming with Yugyeom. Youngjae is okay with this since Yugeyom is so excited about spending the night with his grandpa.
The grand opening of the mall is due to tomorrow. So, we can get the rest for today.
“Youngjae-ah… baby…” I seductively call him, joining him to look at the scenery through the windows.
“Yes, hyung?”
“Since Yugyeom is with my dad… uhm, finally we have some alone time. I miss you so much, baby,” I whisper to his ear, making him shiver. Youngjae stands froze in my embrace.
“Let’s have fun, baby.” I say again, delivering my message to him. I know he gets my message, but I am a bit hurt since he doesn’t react to me.
“Youngjae-ah…” I whine. This gets Youngjae’s attention.
“I know what you want, hyung. But… uhm, I can’t give you now. I am not ready yet, hyung. I am sorry,” he says as he detaches my arms around him. He walks towards the bed. I close the curtains and join him on the bed.
I look at him and let a big sigh. “I am sorry, hyung.” he mumbles.
“It’s okay. I am sorry too since I don’t consider your feeling about it.”
“No. It’s not like that, hyung… it’s just, uhm… I can’t do it while I haven’t being honest with you. And… I am still afraid, hyung.” he snuggles closer to me. I wrap my arms around him.
“So, why don’t you tell me?” I ask him impatient. He looks at me briefly.
“Because… I want you to know in the right time, hyung.”
“When is the right time?” I ask him again. He’s been like this whenever we talk about it.
“Not now.” He senses my anger, so he pulls me in to sweet kiss. I melt against him. He is the first and only one for me. Since he’s gone, I never involved in any kind of ‘it’ with someone else, did I? I always wait for him and I really did it with him only. I think. I told him about it before since he didn’t believe me. Well… I don’t believe myself either, sometimes. I can be different when I am drunk, but it’s been a long time since the last time I got drunk.
The next day is the grand opening party. Youngjae and Yugeyom are in their tuxedo, I can’t help myself as I admire Youngjae so much in his tuxedo. I imagine him wearing tuxedo in our wedding day. I bet he will be shines the brightest among all. And Yugyeom is cute as always.
He has been running around here and there, following my father. My father is more than glad to introduce Yugyeom as his grandson. And Yugeyom is being Yugyeom, so cute. He impresses others with his kind, bubbly, bright, and smart personality.
I stand close to Youngjae for the whole time. It is around half an hour later that I hear Yugyeom’s crying. My father brings him to us while keeping his embrace. Youngjae immediately runs to him.
“Baby…” Youngjae takes him from my father. Yugyeom’s sob is quitter now. He is calmer now.
“Why are you crying, baby? Are you injured?” I ask, worriedly.
“Yes. He fell down there.” My father looks so concern as he walk away to find someone.
“My leg is hurt, daddy…” he clings to Youngjae as his eyes still glistened with tears.
“Ssshh… it’s okay. We’ll go to the doctor, baby.” Youngjae calm him down.
I take a look at his leg and Yugyeom winces in pain and he begins to cry again. I can’t help but feeling hurt, watching him in pain.
“Ssshh… baby, let’s get out of here.” Yugyeom clings on to Youngjae tightly. I always amazed by Youngjae’s skill to calm Yugyeom.
“Mind if I check your son?” a fine looking guy approaches us.
“I am sorry, but who are you?” I ask him.
“Nichkhun hyung!” Youngjae exclaims as he face the guy. I frown, “You know him, Jae?” he nods.
“I… uhm, I… he is my friend back in Mokpo hospital. He is a doctor, hyung.”
“So, Youngjae-ah… is this Yugyeom?” the Nichkhun guy asks nicely, I feel a bit jealous since he gets Youngjae’s attention.
“Yes, hyung. This is Yugyeom. Gyeom-ah… Say your greetings.” Yugyeom lifts his head as he greets Nichkhun.
“Eheem… and I am Im Jaebum, Youngjae’s fiancée.” I introduce myself.
“Well… I know you, of course, Jaebum-shi. Youngjae is my p-” Youngjae immediately covers Nichkhun’s mouth as he wants to talk about something.
“What?” I ask, confused.
“No-nothing, hyung.” Youngjae sheepishly say.
“Partner. I am Youngjae’s partner in hospital.” Nichkhun says as he side-eyes Youngjae. I nods, a bit hesitant.
“Oh, Nichkhun, you are here!” My father says as he approaches us.
“Well… this is my son, Im Jaebum. Jaebum-ah, this is Nichkhun, an obstetrician.” Obstetrician? Youngjae friends with him? Is my hunch right?
“Yes. He already introduced himself.” Nichkhun smiles at me nicely. I smile back.
“So, I bet you know Youngjae and Yugyeom.” My father says again, put his hand on Youngjae’s shoulder. Nichkhun nods, “I know him really well. Basically, I was Yugyeom's doctor too in the hospital, right, Youngjae?” Youngjae nods hesitantly. Silent passes us.
“Hyung… Yugyeom,” Youngjae softly says, making us looking at Yugyeom who is sleeping in his embrace now.
“Well… let’s get out of here and check Yugyeom’s injuring leg.” We are heading to the office in the highest level. Yugyeom is sleeping peacefully in Youngjae embrace. When we are in the office, Youngjae excuse himself to the bathroom and leaving Yugyeom to me. I hold him tight. Yugyeom is still sleeping, but as soon as Nichkhun examine him, Yugyeom begins to cry. It’s hard to calm him down.
Then, Youngjae hurriedly runs towards me and picks Yugyeom up. Yugyeom immediately clings to him as his crying fades away.
“How could you?” I ask in him in awe.
“What?” Youngjae asks me as he soothes Yugyeom’s back.
“You calm him down immediately.” I say, still in awe. Youngjae stands up, shaking his head, mumbling, “Stupid hyung.” Then, he goes to the corner of the room to lullaby Yugyeom.
“Of course. Don’t you know, Jaebum-shi? That a baby or child will feel calm and safe in their mother’s embrace,” Nichkhun softly says as he smiles at me, leaving me dumbfounded.
“By the way, Jaebum-shi…” I lift my head to look at him.
“Yes?”
“Have I said that Yugyeom really looks a lot like you? Yugyeom got your handsome and strong facial shape, especially your high nose. Yugeyom is cute and awesome. Well… it’s nice to meet you.” Once again, Nichkhun leaves me dumbfounded as he takes his leave.
“Oh, by the way… Youngjae-ah, Jaebum-shi, don’t worry, Yugyeom doesn’t injured so bad. He will heal in two days, tops.” Nichkhun tells us as he turns away.
“Hyung, thank you so much!” Youngjae exclaims a bit louder, so Nichkhun will hear him.
I walk closer to them, “How is Yugyeom?” I watch as Yugyeom falls in deep sleep in Youngjae’s embrace.
“He is good. I think I can put him down on the couch now. My arms are getting cramp soon. He is gaining weight again.” Youngjae complains. I laugh at him as I help him put Yugyeom down. Yugyeom shifts a little, but Youngjae tucks him to sleep again. Youngjae sings a lullaby for Yugyeom. Then, I think about what Nichkhun said.
“Hyung…”
“Hyung!” Youngae calls me louder.
“Yes?” I look at him, surprised because of his loud voice.
“Why are you daydreaming?” he asks.
“Uh… just some stuff. I think about some stuff.” I reply him. Youngjae’s attention is back to Yugyeom. I join him and look at Yugyeom close. Nichkhun is right. Yugyeom is indeed looks like me when I look at him again. His personality maybe resembles Youngjae a lot, but his facial creatures, just like mine.
“Jae-ah…”
“Hm?”
“Don’t you think that Yugyeom looks like me?” I ask Youngjae, eyes never leaving Yugyeom. I feel Youngjae stares hard at me.
“Don’t you think that he resembles us a lot more than I know?” I ask again. Youngjae still in silent, so I continue.
“Don’t you think that he, for an adopted child, is resembled us a lot?”
“Don’t you think that he goes after you every time he cries?”
“Jae-ah…”
“… Yes, hyung?” Youngjae asks.
“Don’t you think that Yugyeom is…” I look at Youngjae deeply before continuing my words, “My son? Our son?” Youngjae gasps in surprise.
“…hyung…” he keeps calling me without any other words. Yugyeom shifts a bit and begins to sniffles again. Youngjae immediately hugs him. I watch this moment and now I realize what is Youngjae been hiding from me. And I just need Youngjae to tell me everything as the confirmation of my hunch.
