Black Notebook

"Can you please get off of me?" Mir made an annoyed face.
Since Sanghyun reached the school, the taller boy had been saying how it was cool and refreshing sitting next to Mir in this hot summer. He took it a bit too far after the first lesson by having Mir wrapped in his arms through out all of the other lessons. And now, Mir couldn't even get up to join Lizzy and Nicole for lunch since Sanghyun had proceeded to wrap even his long legs around Mir's waist once the teacher for the last lesson in this morning session leave the class which made them look like a tree and a koala where Mir was the tree and Sanghyun was the koala. Not cool... So not cool... Lizzy and Nicole ended up pulling their chair to Mir's and Sanghyun's tables.

"No." Sanghyun simply answered and tightened his cage around Mir, burying his smiling face into Mir's shoulder like a sleepy little kitty.

Mir swore Sanghyun would have purred if he could. Rolling his eyes, Mir, with so much hardship mind you, took out his lunchbox and started eating, almost dropping his food onto the table and onto his laps a few times.

"Ya!" Lizzy hit Sanghyun's forehead with her boiled egg and grinned when Sanghyun finally released his tentacles from around Mir and pouted. "Eat your lunch." She ordered, peeling off the shell before throwing the whole egg into .

"Oh, thank you so much, Lizzy." Mir exclaimed, heaving a deep breath being freed of Sanghyun's cage.

"You're welcome." Lizzy quipped with proud smile, supposedly proud smile with all that egg filling .

"It's weird though..." Nicole spoke, leaning over Mir's table and cupped Mir's cheeks before sitting back in her chair. "I don't feel the coldness like Sanghyun claim. He's warm."

Lizzy copied Nicole's move just now and nodded, swallowing her food before she spoke. "Me too."

"But I feel slightly cold." Mir mumbled, smoothing down the standing hair on his nape. "Maybe I'm just getting a fever."

"And I can feel the cold air around him. You're not having a fever Mir. You're practically an ice block." Sanghyun glanced at Mir.

Lizzy and Nicole exchange a look. "You don't think..." Lizzy trailed off as her eyes slowly drifted back to Mir who in turn had a question mark on his face.

"That's the only explanation." Nicole shrugged as she, too, was eyeing Mir. When Mir shot her a look, she explained. "Some people said, when there are spirit following you, and you're sensitive to its presence, you'll feel cold, you get goosebumps, you feel like someone watching you and yeah, you got the idea."

"S-spirit..." Mir stammered as he felt chill around him and his hair standing again when he felt like being watched. Just like that night in his dream. And out of his dream.

Lizzy nodded once, peeling another boiled egg, this time, using Nicole's forehead to crack the egg. "Spirit of dead people."

Heavy silence veiled down on the table they sat around. The sounds of students chatting while eating around them felt distant and soft as if they were blocked by glass wall. Mir felt how his hands trembled. No. He didn't believe in such thing. It was just... Impossible. Why him? Why would spirit want to haunt him?

"Y-ya!" Sanghyun interrupted Mir's thought. "Don't say things like that. You're scaring the poor puppy."

Nicole smiled innocently. "Did I? Sorry Mirreu-ya. It just something that I read somewhere. Just forget about it." Nicole tried to fix the situation and felt guilty seeing how Mir was looking pale.

Mir forced a smile. "Yea. Of course. Why would some dead people follow me around." He cleared his throat awkwardly. "I'm going to the toilet for a bit." Mir said and left.

He heard from the distant how Sanghyun was nagging at both Nicole and Lizzy for making, as he put it, poor puppy whimpering so much. When the hell did he even whimpered? Mir rolled his eyes and walked into the toilet.

Bending over the sink, he the tap and wetted his face with the cold water, feeling a bit refresh. When he looked up again, his heart almost broke out of his ribs and jumped straight out of his chest as he saw the same bleeding boy on the reflection of the mirror staring right into his own eyes. Mir couldn't even scream and he plopped down almost lifelessly onto the tiled floor.

"Mir? Are you okay?" A student, his classmate, Dongwoon he remembered, entered the bathroom and Mir's eyes flickered away from the mirror for a second and when he looked back to the mirror, there was no one in the mirror except him and his classmate. "Mir?" Dongwoon called again, pulling on one of Mir's arm, helping the shaky boy to stand up.

"Yea. I just... Stumbled on my own feet." Mir lied. If he told the truth, he would probably be called crazy. Or maybe he was really crazy? Well... He did see this kind of images. Hallucinations? Maybe there were medical condition to explain this? Hopefully...

Dongwoon seemed to believe him as light chuckles escaped his lips. "You should be more careful, silly. Hey, you look pale. Are you sick?" Mir just lifted his shoulder once, trying to look nonchalant about it. "You should go to school infirmary and rest. I can tell our teacher." Dongwoon patted Mir's shoulder and went into one of the stall to do his business.

Mir turned to the mirror and stared tiredly at the mirror. What was happening to him? Mir sighed heavily as he felt his migraine was coming back to him. School infirmary... It might be a good choice for now.

💞💞💞💞💞

The nurse there went easy on Mir, and didn't ask many question, maybe because of Mir's pale sickly complexion. She just showed Mir the bed and closed the curtain, letting the light dimmed in the room so Mir could sleep more comfortably. And Mir slept.

Mir picked up some hushed voices near his ears as soon as he fell asleep. Groaning, Mir peeled open his eyes one by one and looked around the dim litted room. He pulled himself up from the bed and peeked through the curtain.

The table where the nurse should have sat at was empty. Where did she go? And where were those voices came from before? It was quiet again though.

Mir pursed his lips and breathed in deeply, intending to go back to sleep. But as soon as he turned around, that same boy was sitting there on the bed, looking straight at him with red glossy eyes. Pool of blood were seeping through the bed cover and was pooling by the boy's feet. The air around the room suddenly turned icy cold.

Mir inhaled sharp breath and stumbled backwards. He stepped into the long curtain and slipped on it. He flailed his hands in attempt to stop his fall but the curtain he grabbed onto was torn and fall with him due to his weight. However, a strong pair of arms caught him from his back just in time.

"Mirreu?"

Mir looked up and saw his hyung's worried face. Still getting scared out of his mind, Mir snapped his head towards the bed again. No one. No blood. Not even a single drop of blood. Mir, still having his eyes wide and petrified, looked back at Rain. He tried to speak but his voice won't come out. His whole body trembled. He still felt the chill in the air around him.

Rain put his hand on Mir's cheek. "Why are you so cold?" He asked, pulling Mir to stand straight but Mir just leaned closer to him, legs still a bit wobbly to support himself, shivering in cold and maybe fear. But Mir wouldn't admit the later one.

Turning to the other student in the room that he took here due to her sprained ankle before he found his younger brother in this state, Rain told her to sit first and he would attend to her later.

Rain turned his attention back to Mir, concern and worries invading his chest as he help Mir to the bed though Mir seemed a bit reluctant to sit on the bed. Rain kneeled in front of Mir so he could peer into his brother's brown eyes. "What happened? Tell me." He demanded but with gentle eyes.

Mir swallowed, grimacing when he thought how he could still sit back on this bed. On this very bed where he saw the bloodied boy. He patted around the bed cover. There was really not even a single trace of blood.

A pair of warm hands cupping his cold cheeks brought his attention back to Rain. "Hyung." He whispered as he finally found his voice again. "I want to stay back today. Can you pick me up at eleven or do you have to stay at school too?" Mir asked, surprising himself on how calm he sounded.

Rain blinked. "Yea. I have some papers to mark. Why are you staying behind though?"

Mir smiled slightly. "Urm... Just had something to do. Uh, hyung. Do seniors have classes until night today?"

Rain looked thoughtfully before he answered, shaking his head once. "Ani. Most of them have prep school today."

"So the school will be empty?" Mir sat up slightly, his brows went up behind his bangs.

Rain shot his brother a weird look. "Yea... Almost. Some teachers usually work late. Me included tonight."

"Okay, hyung. I'll keep you company tonight and we'll head home together." Mir looked past Rain where a female student in tracksuit was watching and when their eyes locked, she looked surprise for a second but obviously relaxed and smiled back when Mir offered a friendly smile. "Go back to your student. I'll meet you after school." Mir stood up. He didn't want to stay in the infirmary. Not after seeing the terrifying sight. And it wasn't a dream. Not even reflection in the mirror. They were basically face to face. Heck! They even locked eyes.

Rain grabbed Mir's wrist before the younger could leave. He looked deep into his brother's eyes, looking for an answer. "Mir, what is it? There's something wrong, isn't it? Do someone maybe... Harrass you?"

Mir exhaled. "No hyung. No one harrass me. There's no bully in this school. You should know better." Mir made a face, he spoke dryly, looking more like himself now. Seriously, Mir was proud of himself for being able to compose himself so fast even after such a horrifying sight he had to see.

"Yea, but-"

"Hyung." Mir cut Rain off. Patting Rain's arm before he pulled his wrist from Rain's grasp. "If I think I can't handle my problem by myself, then, I'll tell you. I promise." And Mir turned and walked quickly out of the infirmary, not giving Rain chance to rebutt.
Mir had decided. After making sure no one around to stop him after school, he would take the black notebook. This time for sure.

Chapter 40: I wish you would continue this at least for epilogue maybe... this is really great but this still felt incomplete for me... and it's kinda unfair for byunghee to get hate from others since he doesn't remember a thing, if only they knew what he feels...
I hope you'll make epilogue or sequel for this...
