Black Notebook

It was just after the accident that befall on two years old Mir. It was still as clear as the day for Rain even until this day. Mir had slip into coma for two months and when he came to, Rain couldn't be any happier. But Mir started acting weird.

Sometimes when Rain was helping their umma in the kitchen and left Mir to play by himself in the living room, they would hear childish happy giggles from the place Mir was sitting. Sometimes they would see Mir rambled on to thin air as if telling someone about his toy. Sometimes, they saw Mir running around the house yelling for something only Mir could see to wait for him.

One time, Rain found Mir sitting in his closet and when he asked, Mir said he was hiding from his friend and Rain still could remember that name, Jaejin. It went on for the whole one year.

Worried, their mother had took both her sons to see the doctor and since Mir was just 3 years old at that time, doctor had assured them that this was normal to most of kids and this imaginary friend of Mir would disappear as he grew up. Except it didn't.

Even when Mir was ten and had real friends, he would consistently claimed Jaejin was with him and ended up getting bullied by his other friend who called him crazy.

Rain always blamed himself. Before that accident, Mir was normal. If only he had been more careful... He believed that the head injury Mir had suffered that had caused Mir seeing things. So he asked their mother to take Mir to the hospital yet again. And this time, doctor had given them prescription of two types of drug Mir should take.

But Rain hated that drug. As much as Mir hated it. Because those drugs changed Mir. One night, just a year after constant consumption of those drugs, Mir had crept into Rain's bed, begging for his hyung to stop making him take that drug for it made him forget and made his head felt empty. He hated that feeling where he couldn't even know whether he was still alive or was just a walking dead.

Rain had agreed since Mir had told him that he never saw Jaejin again. That Jaejin had left him. Plus, Rain hated the way those drugsstole away Mir's cheerful and bubbly personality. But now...

Now Mir was seeing non-existence things again...

"You know what those drugs did to Mir." Their mother's voice interrupted Rain's train of thought. "Jihoon please. I don't want to see Mir like that again. So lifeless..." Their mother pleaded as she tightened her hold on Mir.

"Umma. He's seeing things! He need those meds!"

Mir ripped himself out of their mother's hold as he casted glare on Rain with his red eyes. "I hate you." It was barely a small whisper but the weight of those words struck Rain badly.

Mir ran up the stairs to his room, seeing GO was sleeping or maybe passed out on his bed. Mir locked the door and just seconds later, his mother was calling for him, knocking the door.

"LEAVE ME ALONE!" Mir shouted angrily and kicked the door loudly before sitting heavily on the chair at his study table. He stared at GO's unmoving figure. He took a while for him to calm down, but when he did, he felt the truth crushing him. Reality choking him. Slowly, doubt making way into his brain. Was all this real? "Are you real?" Mir whispered out painfully.
Or... Was he just as crazy as people claimed him to be?

💞💞💞💞💞

Mir didn't realize when he had fallen asleep. He was woken up when he felt cold figure slumped on him, hugging him awkwardly. "Am I insane?" Mir croaked out trying hardest to control his shiver.

"I can try to convice them if you need me to." GO replied easily as he rubbed Mir's back comfortingly.

Mir sighed and sat up as GO slowly released him. Looking deep into GO's eyes, he just couldn't find it in him to believe that this was all just the work of his imagination. It look real. Mir took GO's hand into his. It even felt real. "Are you feeling okay already?"

GO nodded assuringly with a smile. "I am."

"Good." Suddenly Mir's stomach rumbled loudly. It was already noon and he hadn't eat anything yet.

GO chuckled and ruffled Mir's hair. Mir just blushed and made his way down to the kitchen but only after making GO did the first scan around the room, making sure Rain wasn't anywhere near him. He wasn't ready yet to face his older brother.

"He's in his room." Mir let out relief breath and saw his mother in the kitchen, holding a tray of food in her hands. When she saw him there she put the tray on the table and engulfed Mir into her motherly embrace.

"I was just about to send food to your room." His mother informed, releasing her maknae son and hold his hand, guiding the quiet boy to the table. "Eat them while they still warm." She pulled the chair beside him and watch him ate but Mir, despite his rumbling stomach, he couldn't find the appetite. He just played with the food, picking them and let out very constant sigh. "Mireu..." Umma started again with a really tender voice. She let the words hung in the air, expecting Mir to talk.

Mir let out another sigh. "You won't make me take the meds again, right?" The way he was asking that question was just like a child. A small cornered child that his mother had to pull him into her protective hug.

"I won't. I promise."

GO tapped on Mir's shoulder. Mir only let his eyes followed where GO was pointing at and he saw shadow moving from behind the wall. Rain was listening to him and their mother.

"I'm sorry hyung." It had become habit. Even when it wasn't Mir's fault, he always ended up apologizing because the idea of him hurting Rain in any way was just killing him. And he knew he had inflict unbearable pain on Rain when he said he hated the older. It was all lies though. Hurtful lie.

Rain stepped out from behind the wall. His eyes were red and puffy. Mir's eyes traveled down to Rain's clenched fist. There were bruises and cuts on his knuckles. Rain must had punched the wall, blaming himself and hurting himself. Mir knew Rain well.

Whimpering at the sight, Mir closed his eyes and buried his face into their umma's shoulder. He felt a large warm hand his hair. Despite it being rough from doing all the exercises and work, Mir felt the gentle love in it and he would always knew it was Rain's hand.

"I just want you to trust me."

Neither Rain nor his mother replied to Mir's words. Mir only felt the hold around him tightened and soon another pair of arms eveloped both both him and their mother. And they stayed that way for a little bit more.

Chapter 40: I wish you would continue this at least for epilogue maybe... this is really great but this still felt incomplete for me... and it's kinda unfair for byunghee to get hate from others since he doesn't remember a thing, if only they knew what he feels...
I hope you'll make epilogue or sequel for this...
