Black Notebook

Seungho kept sighing throughout the class. He couldn't stay focus today. This strange feeling was distracting him. Why was he feeling this way? Did he got indigestion? His chest kind of felt tight. Dropping his pen onto the table, he gave up on doing the notes his teacher told the whole class to copy. He pinched on the bridge of his nose, hoping the class would end already. He really wasn't in mood and this tightness on his chest... This suffocating feeling... And the memories of his talk with Mir... They were all mixed together and infested as a huge annoying headache.

The bell rung and he stood up immediately even before the class had chance to thank the teacher. He simply walked out the class and he knew well the teachers and his classmates had already understood his personality well after the accident and they had stop trying to care. He could do anything on his free will without getting reprimanded since he had a great grade and good overall performance in the school, so the teachers couldn't really complain anything regarding his behavior.

Seungho waltzed down the hallway with his hands in his pocket, eyes trailing over the floor, absentmindedly counting the black spots covering the floor. He sighed again when Mir's voice rung in his ears, questioning, judging... He ruffled his hair and startled when a body crashed into him, flunging him against the wall. He looked up and saw the backview of Mir leaving in hurry. He tilted his head. Where was that kid going in such a rush? Ah, whatever. He didn't want to bother over some kid he barely knew. At least, not more than he already had.

Seungho continued back walking around aimlessly when he realized he was passing by Sanghyun's class. He glanced into the class and saw Sanghyun sitting at the back, seemingly was singing to himself. He felt a tug on his heartstring as the song softly grazed his ears. That sounded so... familiar. And an image formed from that song. The song defined everything he knew about GO. Rushing into the classroom, he took Sanghyun's shoulder, taking the younger cousin of his by surprise.

                "Seungho hyung?"

Seungho panted slightly, taking a deep breath before he asked, "Where did you get that?" His eyes went towards the music note in Sanghyun's hand.

Still confused, Sanghyun's eyes flickered back and forth from Seungho to the notes. "Urm... Mir." He finally answered, wincing slightly as the grip on his shoulder tightened.

Seungho's eyes flashed. Mir again? What was with that kid? That kid was turning his usually neat thinking into deranged mess. Who the hell was this Mir? He needed to know, that was what he had decided. He needed to know.

"Where did you go?" Lizzy asked Mir once her eyes caught Mir walking into the classroom with a plastic bag in his hand. "What is that?" She pointed towards the plastic bag.

"Just a present for someone." Mir answered casually, hanging the bag on the small hook on the side of his table. "Sanghyun? What's with that look?" Mir asked as he realized Sanghyun was looking into the space with a tense look on his face. When Sanghyun didn't answer him, Mir turned his eyes to Lizzy and Nicole  in question but the two girls shrugged unknowingly.

"He has been that way since Seungho sunbaenim came here." Nicole informed, jumping to stand before Sanghyun and waved her hand in front of unresponding Sanghyun's face. She pouted and bedgrudgingly nudged Sanghyun's head, yelling, "Stop ignoring me!"

Sanghyun still stayed that way. Like a statue. Mir could only shook his head with a small smile. He guessed Sanghyun was always that way when he was too absorbed in one thing or another.

"A ball?" Mir turned his head to see Lizzy already had the content of the plastic bag out. "For who?"

"Someone." Mir easily answered and snatched the basketball away midair when Lizzy tossed it playfully.

"Someone special?" Lizzy asked back, pulling a face.

"Hurm..." Mir looked up thoughtfully. "Maybe. But not as special as you." Mir blinked cutely and Lizzy couldn't control the smile creeping up her face. She ruffled Mir's hair affectionately.

                "My cute puppy~"

Mir smirked. "Now, who's going to fix my hair." Lizzy laughed at Mir's remark and realized the slightly long raven hair was now so disheveled that anyone would believe if she said Mir had just gotten out of a huge storm.

Using her long slender fingers, Lizzy tried to comb back Mir's hair so at least it would look a bit normal only to have Mir hissing when her fingers tangled into the mess of the hair. "Oww! Stop!" Mir slapped on Lizzy's hands.

"Wait puppy, just a little bit... and... done!" Lizzy pulled away with satisfied smile as he looked down to his artwork. Mir's hair now look decent.

"Lizzy, please tell me you're not planning on opening a hair salon in the future." Sanghyun quipped in, looking sympathetically at Mir who was wiping the tears from the corner of his eyes. Mind that, he wasn't crying like a girl, it was just the automatic reflex like when you're sneezing or yawning, you got watery eyes.

"That's a good idea actually." Nicole quipped. "We can be partner!" Lizzy grinned and nodded in agreement.

"NO!" Both Mir and Sanghyun shouted their disagreement because they knew how dangerous the salon would be by just being owned by Lizzy and Nicole.

Mir waved his hands to his friends and smiled as he remembered how hard it was for him to convince them that he had to stay back to help Mr. Jung with some school work, an excuse he used a lot since he moved into this school. Making sure there wasn't as many students left in the class, Mir started towards the basketball court as seeing GO was still sitting there in the same position as this morning. Maybe because GO was only a spirit so he didn't get a cramp for sitting unmoving for hours.

Mir was strutting down the hallway, walking past empty classes when he stopped halfway as he swore he heard footsteps behind him echoing together with his own footsteps. Someone was following him? He tilted his head when he saw no one behind him. But it felt weird. As if someone was watching him. The same feeling he got when he still couldn't see GO when GO followed him, just a little bit different though.

Hugging himself, Mir turned back around, his steps slower  and softer as the sound of footsteps once again echoed in his ears. He was getting creeped out by now. So, he stopped and turned again, eyes narrowing and wandered around just in case he could see something, anything hiding behind the shadow. "Who's that?" He asked into thin air and he was immensely grateful the hallway wasn't dark and the lights weren't flickering like in some typical horror movie. Mir waited for a while on the same spot when there was no answer came back for him. Each time he took a step back, he heard one footstep and the footsteps died down right when he stopped, as if toying with him.

"Yah! Who's that? This is not funny." Mir's voice started to waver. This was weird. And freaky. It even freakier that only his voice echoed off and followed by silence.

Mir gasped and the strength almost left his legs when the frightening silence suddenly got replace by rushing footsteps as if someone was running fast towards him yet he saw no one. It was closing in to him. Stumbling, he wanted to turn away and run. Run away from the place but his legs went weak and he could only take a few shaky steps backwards.

Feeling his gut twisted in fear, heart jumping into his throat, Mir tried his best to get away from there but his body won't listen to him and as the footsteps coming closer and closer to him in a mad pace, Mir squeezed shut his eyes in reflex, turning on his heels and unexpectedly falling right into someone's arms. It's a warm and safe embrace and he could hear heart beating against the chest he was leaning on. He was safe. The sound of the footsteps faded just like that.

Relief washing over him and Mir would have slid down onto the floor if not for the one holding him up. "Woah, Mir? Are you okay?" Mir recognized Joon's voice even before seeing his face.

Mir swallowed, feeling the dryness in his throat. He really got the scares of his life just now. When GO haunted him, he was also scared, but this one was different. Not only he was feeling fear of something unknown but... He also felt threatened. This time, unlike GO, Mir somehow could feel the danger coming his way.

"Mir? What is it?" Joon shook Mir's small frame and released his hold on Mir only to have the younger flopped down weakly on the floor like a lifeless doll. Mir's face was drained of color. He kneeled beside the younger with worried look creasing his face. "Hey? What's wrong? Talk to me."

Mir glanced a bit at Joon and took a deep breath. "I-it's nothing." He finally managed, hands finding Joon's shoulder, asking silently for the older to help him up again and Joon easily complied, taking the plastic bag Mir was holding and hook one of his arm under Mir's arm, pulling the boy up.

"It can't be nothing. You look like you just saw a ghost." Joon commented, handing over the plastic bag to Mir and rose his brow as he saw the content. A basketball? He didn't know Mir play. Joon still remembered that GO loved playing it too, and they usually had a few games every weekend before they got separated. He missed the old days.

Mir laughed bitterly. "I guess you could say so." His reply taking Joon back from his small memory lane. Mir inhaled and exhaled a few long deep breath, trying hard to control the tremble racking his frame. Come on. He couldn't be that scared... But what he had experience just now...

Joon frowned. "Are you for real?" He asked. Well, he knew Mir was weird since the first day they met but he didn't know if he was ready to listen on how this weird kid could see ghost. Was that why he always caught Mir smiling, laughing and talking to himself? He would rather Mir told him he had mental illness instead. Shivering, Joon ran his hand to smooth down the standing hair on his nape. "By the way, are you ready for tomorrow?" He tried to change the topic. The school was empty and it was already dark out there. He didn't want any scary story hanging off his back for his whole journey back from school to home. Worse, he lived alone. He was going to leave the light on for the whole night tonight for sure.

"Huh?" Mir tilted his head before something lit up in his forgetful mind. Of course! How could he forget. "Oh yeah... I have packed my things." Innertly grateful that Joon distracted him from his fear from previous incident.

"Good. We'll meet at the airport. I bought us the tickets already."

"Airport? I thought we're going by train?" Mir remembered the last text from Joon the next night after the older's invitation. And hearing how they were going there by plane, he bet the place Joon was taking him to was quite far. Where exactly? And who exactly the one Joon want him to meet?

"Initially, but it will take too much time and we're just going there for the weekend."

"Where exactly are you taking me?" Mir slide back slightly, making a suspicious look.

Joon chuckled, reaching out and messed Mir's raven hair. "I know you're cute but I assure you, I'm not going to kidnap you."

"Ohoho... You better, or my hyung won't let you go easily." Mir joked back while repairing his hair. He wonder why people like to mess with his hair. Lizzy too. Rain too. GO too. Now Joon. Maybe he should kept a small comb in his pocket for emergency use.

                "Oh, you have a hyung?"

"Yeah. And he's a pain in the ." Mir snorted but a smile grazed his lips, even his eyes were smiling.

Joon chortled, again, messing Mir's hair. He pulled away and raised his hands in defend when Mir bedgrudgingly warned him from touching his hair again with a look that can kill. It was a reflex whenever Mir was around. That kid called for it for being cute and weird. "You said that but you smile like a lovestruck idiot."

                "No, I'm not."

                "Yes, you are."

Mir huffed, crossing his arms with a little pout on his lips. "Whatever." He put back his uncaring supposedly cool demeanor.

                "Aren't you going home yet?"

"Hmm? Oh, no, not yet. I have some work to do." Mir grinned sheepishly.

Joon nodded and looked like he was about to leave but halted. "Do you want me to stay with you? Just in case whatever happened just now happen again?" He offered carefully getting back into the topic he wished to avoid.

Mir looked over his shoulder towards the long empty corridor fearfully. Okay. Joon got a point. He didn't think he wanted the same thing to repeat again. If whatever the 'thing' that was playing with him came back again and he happened to be alone this time, he really didn't want to think of any possible consequences. "Urm... Hyung. Just walk with me to the court." Mir asked with a small voice.

"Court? Why-" Joon stopped his question as his eyes fall to the plastic bag in Mir's hand. He smiled. "Don't you have other time to play? It's already night." He wasn't really curious of the answer though.

Mir just shrugged and they walked side by side towards the court. Mir just needed Joon to accompany him until he saw GO then he would let Joon went home as the older supposed to. It would be fine for him then since GO would be there for him. Eventhough GO himself was a ghost but he was also a friend. So, he felt safe. Unlike the presence he felt just now. It felt dark...

Chapter 40: I wish you would continue this at least for epilogue maybe... this is really great but this still felt incomplete for me... and it's kinda unfair for byunghee to get hate from others since he doesn't remember a thing, if only they knew what he feels...
I hope you'll make epilogue or sequel for this...
