Black Notebook

Mir's puppy eyes shine with interest and amazement once they reached the acessories store owned by Rain. He never once came here since he wasn't really interested but now he regretted for not coming much earlier.

Acessories Rain was selling weren't just any ordinary acessories and they weren't even glmorous yet Rain chosed to sell much more antique type, unique and certainly hard to find somewhere else.

Mir let Rain ruffled his hair as his older brother walked past him and towards the cashier where a tall boy with fair skin and jet-black hair and a pair of cold eyes that were hard to go by without being noticed was standing at. Mir glanced at both his hyung and the boy which Mir easily guessed as the worker here especially when the boy bowed politely to Rain, calling him in a formal manner.

Mir turned back his gaze to one particular ring that had attracted him most. It seemed that GO had the same taste as him as GO was literally drooling over the ring in the opened silky blue case.

It was just a simple silver ring. Engraved with abstract pattern yet the flow of the engravement just had something enchanting about it and Mir just couldn't simply looked away.

"Mireu. Come here." Rain called after talking with his employee for a while.

Obeying his hyung, Mir approached the duo but not after taking the ring with him. Mir bowed politely to the worker and had his friendly smile on. It turned a bit awkward though when the worker didn't smile back and just stared at Mir.

"This is Leo. He's the worker here and- wait. What do you have in your hand?" Rain noticed Mir was fiddling with something.

"Oh, this?" Mir raised his hand and showed the ring. "I want to buy this. It's so... Urm. How to say this..." Mir trailed off at the end, flipping the ring in his palm and noticing GO who was suddenly putting distance between them but Mir had learned not to react to GO too easily.

"Beautiful?" Rain suggested.

Mir nodded mindlessly. "Yea that too. It's really... Exotic. Something about it just kind of pull me towards it." Mir put the ring unto the table. "I want to buy this."

This Leo kid looked at the ring and back to Mir. He did that a few times more with straight face until Mir was fidgeting under his long stare. He took the ring and typed something into the cash-machine when Rain suddenly burst into laughter.

"Hyung?" Mir backed off from his older brother, totally weirded out by him. What was so funny?

Rain was still laughing, even holding his stomach while gesturing for Mir to wait for him to finish his laughter. Inhaling deeply, with remaining cackles, he turned to Leo who still had unchanged expression on his face and was holding out a small plastic filled with the ring towards Mir. Mir took it with a smile and handed the money. Sure, this was Rain's shop but he wouldn't take advantage of that fact. Business was still business.

"You should at least be happy, Leo. He bought your first ring." Rain finally managed to control himself and finally spoke steadily.

Mir blinked at Rain's words. This ring... Was Leo's? Mir turned to look at Leo and almost melted as he saw scarlet dusted those cheeks even when Leo still was keeping a straight face.

"Leo sent me the design last week and finished it last night and today you buy it. Though he look like that, I'm sure he's really happy." Rain explained.

Mir's mouth form an O as a wide smile cracked on his face. "Woah! You're a designer? That's so cool." Mir praised and enjoyed how the blush on Leo's cheeks deepened in color. He guessed Leo wasn't a scary person but a really shy boy.

"Are you coming, Mir?" Mir hadn't notice Rain had already walked around the table and was already standing in front of the door to his office with a thick logbook under his arm.

"I think I want to walk around the area." Mir smiled when Rain nodded and told him to be careful. "Well..." Mir turned back to Leo. "Is there any interesting place here?"

"Yes."

Mir was waiting for more but that was the only thing came out of Leo's mouth. So... Shy and short of words... Well, Mir didn't mind those. Shrugging, Mir his heels to leave when he felt a tug on the hood of his sweater. Leo was holding on it.

"That ring. Don't let him touch it." Leo said with a small voice, and released Mir.

Mir frowned. What did that mean? Him? Who is 'him'? Mir would have asked but he got a strong hunch Leo would ignore him. Well, Leo was in fact already ignoring Mir as the lad turned his attention on the receipts scattered on table.

Tilting his head, Mir slowly walked out of the shop with question in his mind and of course, GO who had been quiet all the time, was following him close behind.

"Mireu. Aren't you going to wear the ring?" GO asked as he skipped next to Mir maintaining good distance which still kind of bug Mir.

"Nah. I don't really wear ring." Mir simply answered, pretending he was talking on the phone while walking down the busy street.

"Then, why did you buy it?"

"Just because."

It was quiet for a while until Mir felt cold freezing hand on his shoulder. Mir halted. "He saw me."

If GO's hand on his shoulder hadn't stopped Mir's step, then those words would have. Mir blinked as he stared back at GO with a dumbfounded look. Was GO meaning Leo? As if GO was reading the question in Mir's eyes, he nodded. Then... 'him' that Leo meant was... GO? There was another person that could see GO? Even without touching the book? Mir shook his head. Of course there would be other people who had that kind of ability. But... Mir didn't think he would actually meet another person like him.

"That ring..." GO's eyes trailed down to the small plastic bag on Mir's hand, resulting with Mir doing the same. "I like it. It's pretty but. It... Burn." The way GO's features scruched up into troublesome expression, made Mir's heart stop for a moment.

"You mean this ring can hurt you?"

GO shrugged. He didn't know. He couldn't know but the ring felt like blazing flame. When Mir took the ring before, he had to put distance between them as soon as Mir's skin was in contact with the ring. It was as if something boiling inside his chest and his head. It was scorching from inside.

"Why didn't you say so earlier?" Mir asked, a bit sulkily and tried to turn around when GO stopped him. Accidentally the ring slipped out of the plastic bag. GO jumped back in reflex while Mir tried to catch the ring. However, GO's painful whimper caused Mir to let the ring fall from his hand onto the wet road and only then GO stopped wincing in pain. "What just happened?" Mir whispered to himself.

Truthfully, Mir saw the bright orange light came out of GO's eyes. Turning his eyes into a deep pit of fire but only for seconds. The sight came as sudden as the pain GO was experiencing and it disappeared just as sudden when the ring fall off of his hand.

GO panted slightly and his chest was heaving. He looked up when the burning sensation in his chest and head stop. When he saw the horrified and worried look on Mir's face, he felt sort of guilty. Guilty for getting hurt. What a weird feeling. "I'm fine Mireu." He assured with the best smile he could pull off.

Mir's worried look turned fierce which in all honesty, was scaring GO out of his wit. Mir gave a glance to the ring before picking it up with the plastic bag that was still in his hand. "I'm returning it."

"What? Wait, no." GO pulled on Mir's hoodie. "You like it."

"But it hurts you!" Mir retorted.

GO chuckled and ruffled Mir's hair. "Yes it did but only if you touch it directly. I don't even want to know what would happen if I'm the one touching it." He mumbled out the last sentence before he continued in normal voice. "Plus, you don't want to disappoint Leo."

Mir actually faltered for a moment before his gaze hardened again when something crossed his mind. "He knew."

When GO saw the anger that was about to bubble up in Mir's vein, the older quickly interrupted. "Yea. He warned us you know."

"That's not warning. Why didn't he just say, oh Mir-shi, if you touch the ring, the ghost that is following you around like a lost little duckling will die!" Mir pursed his lips after he finished his oh so sarcastic ranting.

GO gaped when he realized Mir just put him on the same level as a... Duckling? He then burst into laughter. Tears even came out with his laugh. "Mir!" He managed between his laugh as he put both his hands on Mir's shoulder, using Mir as support when his knees buckled though he could just rolled down on the air. "Y-you." He tried to talk between his laughter.

Mir clicked his tongue and crossed his arms. "What's so funny?" He mumbled in annoyance. Why did it seem that everyone was laughing at him tonight? Rain too.

Breathing in, breathing out, GO finally able to calm himself enough to speak without interruption. "I-I'm a ghost Mir. That's mean I'm dead. How can I die twice?"

Mir didn't seem amused and grab a hold on GO's arm. "Really? Then why does a ghost like you can feel sleepy? Fall sick? Okay. Maybe you're not going to die for the second time but are you sure you're not going to disappear?"

GO's face stiffened. "What are you trying to say?"

"Your very existence. It might disappear. Without a trace." Mir stated.

GO let out small awkward chuckle. "That's... That's... Just."

"I'm returning this." Mir said sternly when GO just fall silent. Mir stomped down the road he walked from and towards the shop again. He was so not going to let anyone hurt his hyung.

Chapter 40: I wish you would continue this at least for epilogue maybe... this is really great but this still felt incomplete for me... and it's kinda unfair for byunghee to get hate from others since he doesn't remember a thing, if only they knew what he feels...
I hope you'll make epilogue or sequel for this...
