Black Notebook

GO ran after Mir and grabbed the younger's shoulder, successfully stopping the younger from his fast pace climbing down the stairs from the rooftop. Mir didn't turn to face him though, the boy just stayed frozen there, head hanging low.

"Mir..." GO's voice recoiled off the wall enclosing the narrow space of the staircase. "I think you're being too harsh on Seungho." His voice though soft, in a way, it was a warning. He didn't really like the idea of Mir hurting Seungho as much as he didn't like the idea of Mir getting hurt because of him.

                "..."

"What?" GO stepped closer. He wasn't sure if Mir was even talking to him or just mumbling to himself.

Mir turned with one swift motion and GO gasped when he finally saw tears streaming down Mir's smooth and now reddened cheeks. Mir didn't give a chance for the ghost to stumble backwards out of shock and in a second, he had his arms already enclosed around the cold form. "He was the one who was too harsh." Mir said, teeth slightly clattering at the coldness he expected welcoming him but he still didn't pull away. This was probably the only way he could think to comfort GO. He knew GO was hurt despite his tries of not showing it. He could feel it. He could feel it strongly.

GO's widened eyes slowly softened. Mir was one unpredictable boy. Most of the time he would be all distant and look like he care for nothing but some rare times, he would show his hidden feeling, the kind and soft side of him. And GO noticed Mir had shown a lot of that endearing side to him these days. He smiled at the gesture and patted the younger's back. Mir was crying for the pain that he felt. Mir felt the pain he felt. His smile widened at what he saw, something which he was sure Mir couldn't see. The bond between them. It was glowing in brilliant bright red color. When he said to Mir that they were bonded together, it wasn't an empty talk with no basis, he meant it, he meant this. This ribbon-like floating thread that came out from his chest and reached out to Mir's chest. He wasn't entirely sure what this was but he knew this was the thing that made him and the younger were so attached to each other and also the reason why he could find Mir easily wherever Mir went off too. All he need to do was just to follow the red ribbon and it would eventually led to Mir. And it had existed since the day Mir touched his diary.

"You're so quiet." Mir mumbled and pulled away, frowning at the smile caressing GO's lips. "You're smiling." He pointed out with weird look. GO shouldn't be smiling right now, but in all honestly, he was relieved to see that smile.

GO chuckled and pinched Mir's button nose. "And you're crying." He teased which Mir just rolled his eyes and turned away. "Where are you going?" GO asked and floated after.

"Class of course. I'm going to be late if I keep trying to understand how a ghost's mind actually work. You in particular." Mir grumbled and fastened his pace.

"You don't have to try. You got it right. I might cry if you didn't already."

Mir stopped and looked over his shoulder. He let out a small breath. Of course he knew. He could see clearly the hurt in GO's eyes. Feel the pain clearly. "If you need time alone, you can go but make sure you come back again."

With that, Mir continued his halted way to his class while GO just stayed behind. Yeah. He kind of need that, so the spirit turned and walked to the opposite direction from Mir, didn't even notice when the younger glanced back to him with a pair of understanding eyes.

"You're late, puppy!" Mir honestly wasn't even a bit surprised by now and easily carried the added weight on his back as once again, Lizzy jumped on him.

"Yeah, yeah. Morning to you too." Mir responded and smiled fondly as he heard how Lizzy gasped and started to nudge his head from behind.

"Don't be so rude to this unni!" She shouted from behind, now resorted to strangle Mir with her thin arms.

"Unni~ I'm sorry~" Mir played along while making his most feminine voice, gaining himself giggles from the girl hanging off his back and a loud retch sound coming from the table where Sanghyun was sitting at.

Dongwoon who was watching the duo with a smile shout out, "Congrats Lizzy for successfully turning Mir into a girl."

"Oppa~" Mir whined while blinking cutely to Dongwoon whom obviously shivered and immediately ran around the class to escape Mir who was now on his heels, Lizzy still hanging on his back. "Oppa~ You're mean." Mean kept whining like a girl overloaded with oestrogen and managed to call laughter from the whole class.

Dongwoon kept running with purely horrified shout until he stumbled behind Nicole, exclaiming for the girl to save him from being harassed by creepy Mir.

Nicole laughed and joined Lizzy on Mir's back when she saw the latter there, making Mir complaining how his waist might break at this point. "Yah! Yah! Yah! Get off!" Mir squeaked and stumbled a bit.

"Can I join?" Seohyun playfully wriggled her brows, posing as if she was ready to jumped on Mir like Lizzy and Nicole already had.

"NOOOOOOO!" Mir shrieked, straightening his hunching back causing Lizzy and Nicole slipping off from his back onto the floor with harmonious "Oww~" Mir turned around and panic a little, stepping forward to help the two friend of his but then decided to just laughed at them rudely. "Oh my god, Lizzy! Nicole! Why are you guys wearing tracksuit under your skirt? And Nicole. Seriously? Hot pink?" Mir kept on laughing and he heard how Sanghyun snickered from his seat.

Nicole pouted. "Pink is cute!" She retorted, her hands.

"What do you know about fashion, puppy..." Lizzy stated dryly, picking herself up from the floor before taking Nicole's hand into hers, helping her up.

Mir snorted and walked to his seat beside Sanghyun. Sanghyun glanced at his wristwatch. "Took you ten minutes long to walk from that door to our seat." He mocked.

Mir gaped. "Didn't you see how I was attacked by those monster? And you didn't even help me. It was already amazing I got here without any injuries."

Sanghyun opened his mouth to retort but his eyes flickered past Mir's shoulder. "Mir..." He called out Mir's name in a small voice. Mir just made a noise of confusion at the straight face Sanghyun was pulling. "The monsters are behind you." He informed with a grin spreading out his face.

Mir stiffened. Slowly, ever slowly, he turned his head and met with savage eyes of Lizzy. Like he said before, he did love Lizzy sharp slightly slanted eyes, but right now, that girl look too scary and the edges of her eyes slightly raised up. "Ohohoho.... Monster eh?" Lizzy started with evil smile.

Mir yelped and tried to run away but Lizzy was faster as she strangled Mir in a firm headlock from behind. "Ani! Ani! You're not a monster. You're a princess. An angel!" He blurted out everything he could think of.

"What about me?" Nicole quipped, slipping in between Mir and Sanghyun, playfully pinching on Mir's cheeks.

"You girls are going to kill him, just so you know. Not that I mind." Key shouted from his seat where he was playing a card game with Dongwoon and Minho.

"Yeah. You help a lot! Thank you so much." Mir scorned.

"You're very welcome honey." Key replied casually, still focusing on his game.

Nicole giggled and tugged on Mir's cheek, distorting Mir's face in a funny way. "Yah! Stop it! Not my handsome face!" Mir complained and struggled to free himself from both Lizzy who was still on her mission trying to wrestle him to the floor and Nicole who was trying to pull his cheeks apart.

Nicole resorted to tug on Mir's hair once she released Mir's cheeks all the while having that evil laugh despite putting on a bright cute smile.

"Ouch! You're going to make go bald!"

"Puppy with no fur is not so bad of an idea." Lizzy laughed, ruffling Mir's hair, messing it to the point of no fixing.

"Okay, okay, that's enough of the torture for today." Sanghyun finally decided to step in and pulled Nicole off of Mir with both his hands wrapped around Nicole's wrist.

Nicole pouted but stopped torturing Mir. Lizzy too, loosened her strangulation and only leaned on Mir's back, arm still around Mir's neck in loose hold. "Hey yo puppy... What's that?" Lizzy asked when she saw part of papers reaching out from Mir's bag. There was music notes she saw scribbled there.

"Eoh? This?" Mir took out the papers. "It's for Sanghyun." Mir said and handed them over to Sanghyun who squeaked a small, "For me?" Mir nodded and watched as Sanghyun scanned the contents of the papers.

"Eeeeh? Isn't this my song?" Sanghyun's sleepy eyes widened and he started humming to the improvised melody. Smiling widely as he fall completely in love with the song. He gave Mir a look. "And you said you know nothing about music."

"Wah~ Puppy! That's amazing." Lizzy praised.

Nicole had already pulled a chair and sat next to Sanghyun, eyes skimming over the music notes in Sanghyun's hands and when their eyes met, she smiled and nodded in silent agreement of how good the song had become.

Mir hid his nervousness. "Yeah. Actually... That's not my work."

"Then whose?" Nicole inquired with her wide shiny orbs.

Mir stuttered. He regretted for saying such unnecessary thing. He should have just left them with their own assumptions. "Err... M-my f-friend."

"Oh really? Can I meet him? Or her?" Sanghyun asked while Nicole raised her both her hands excitedly, wanting the same thing.

Lizzy pouted and released Mir completely, mumbling to herself poutily. "It can't be a her. It must be a him." No one heard her though.

"Urm..." Mir's eyes flickered everywhere. "He's not here."

Sanghyun hummed and nodded, looking a bit disappointed. "Your friend from Jansung?"

Mir just grinned in response, not nodding, nor denying and he just patted Lizzy's arm as the girl now was clinging back on him with a pure happy grin. "I knew it, it's a he."

"Huh?" Mir cocked his brow to her which she just shook her head in turn, so Mir didn't ask further.

"Anyway, send my gratitude to him." Sanghyun kept the papers in his bag.

                "I will."

"His name?" When Mir thought he was safe, Nicole just had to ask that. About thirty names were piling in his head at the same time. But should he really lie? He hate the aftertaste on his mouth left for lying. So he chose a not so safe answer.

"I don't remember." Well.... That didn't go well. The expression on his friends' face said it all but he was grateful the teacher decided to start the class before they even had chance to bombard him with questions for his weird answer.

For sure, he needed to keep avoiding for today. Mir sighed softly and threw his gaze out of the window. He blinked when he saw familiar figure sitting on the bench at the basketball court. It was none other than GO, sitting there with fingers interwined together, elbows on his knees, head hanging low. Mir guess GO was still disturbed from what had happened this morning and his eyes never left the lonely figure throughout the class, trying to figure out how to cheer the ghost up. And when he finally got the idea, the bell rung as if on cue and he ran out of the class, ignoring his friends' calling. This should work!

Chapter 40: I wish you would continue this at least for epilogue maybe... this is really great but this still felt incomplete for me... and it's kinda unfair for byunghee to get hate from others since he doesn't remember a thing, if only they knew what he feels...
I hope you'll make epilogue or sequel for this...
