Hannah had spent the whole late evening at the music video filming to support Maria. She became less restless after sending Kyung Ho come (they had been at the filming for a while before he went home, because in his age he need to sleep) and she had returned to the set where she had been writing on her laptop like crazy for two-three hours. Maria’s music video will turn out great, everyone knows it, but then again Maria can’t really fail when it comes to music like this; she is too good. Both Julia and Carolina had come and gone at the set before the three of them including Hannah had gotten a ride back to the apartment to get some sleep.

It is now Sunday and while Maria is finishing the filming of her music video the three other ladies head to the airport to go to Japan where Emelia is sleeping and waiting for them. Today the group will promote their new Japanese single that is being released tomorrow as well as their Japanese drama that this past week began airing on the channel NTV Japan – the drama and single are linked together and though the drama only has five episodes to air; fans seem very excited about it. Especially noticed now after the first episode has been aired. Maria will come to Japan as soon as her music video filming is done.

“‘Restless Idol Hannah Catches Up With Friends On Her Day Off’.”  Hannah reads out the headline of a new article to her members in the van when they have landed in Japan.

“I have read that too,” Carolina comments with a smile, “it is pretty fun actually.”

“What does it say?” Julia wonders as she hasn’t read it and though she sounds completely uninterested Hannah scans through the article.

“Um… ‘5 Pieces is very busy recently with’ blah, blah, blah… ‘Hannah uploaded a picture on twitter of herself eating lunch with former U-Kiss member Alexander and solo artist G.NA, she wrote {lunch with friends on my day off!!}’… I just want to say that both of them uploaded a picture too, which is why I uploaded it.” Hannah looks through the article, reading certain parts of it. “Here it says ‘it seemed that the restless idol could not take it easy on her day off as she a few hours later was seen backstage at Music Core, where she showed support to 5 Pieces’ juniors EXO and also put other performers in a daze with her sudden visit.’ There is a picture of me with … I don’t know who they are.”

She took some pictures with the groups yesterday; though she even now can’t remember their names. And apparently some had been uploaded somewhere to promote that group even more. If 5 Pieces’ name is mentioned anywhere, their many fans are curious to see what it is. Hannah doesn’t mind, because this article is the most positive thing written about her in a while and the comments aren’t all too bad either. Most of them commented about the picture of Hannah with Alexander and G.NA, writing that they are surprised to see them together or being glad they take time to meet up. Comments say that Hannah looks good in that outfit too. In the picture from lunch she was without a jacket, while the ones from Music Core are with jacket. Since she did get compliments yesterday when she wore that outfit Hannah feel good about it; fashion is a pain for those who don’t know how to work it, that is Hannah.

“Have you looked through the papers?” their manager Song Yoon Jun asks the girls from the passenger seat, speaking Japanese as he is their manager in Japan. He always does it to challenge them, which is both good and bad; for Hannah it is no problem because her Japanese is pretty fluent which is the same for Emelia, but for the other two girls in the van it is really a challenge. Though the girls have together acted in a Japanese drama by now the ladies don’t seem to have learned all that much; or they have just forgotten over the summer.

“I don’t have much to learn,” Carolina answers, in Korean though. “Aren’t I getting anything more to say than the day the drama is airing? In Korea I get to talk much more…”

“Those are the only papers,” Manager Song answers in Japanese. Julia turns around to Hannah, asking what he has said and Hannah translates it simply.

Hannah puts her cell phone away as she is done looking through the comments to the article and she holds up the paper they are talking about, with the information and cheat answers to questions they will answer during today and tomorrow’s schedule. Hannah and Emelia have the most things marked to say because their Japanese is the best – it isn’t more difficult sorted out than that. During their two days in Japan now they will promote the new single and the mini-drama in Tokyo; today it is mostly promotional interviews and one performance while tomorrow when the single is released they will do a lot of activities from morning to midnight to promote it. Exciting, is what Hannah would say it is. She has never any issue with promoting in Japan; she really enjoys it.

Speaking the language isn’t that hard for Hannah when 5 Pieces go to Japan, and she is the one taking the initiative when they have met up with Emelia and begin with the interviews – Hannah keeps being the first one to greet the one interviewing them and the staff. She smiles and is comfortable in Japan, not like she is in Korea at all.

When Hannah made her first visit to Japan in 2009 for her first drama filming she was a lot all the time there, and because of the ground she created at that period she is still said to be the face of 5 Pieces in Japan. Fans are aware of it too, commenting in 5 Pieces’ music (not in their newest [Knockout] single) that Hannah is at the centre both for the dance-positions and in the music videos. Hannah has been awkward with the position she has been given within the group when they go to Japan and she is proud and happy that Emelia is promoting so much there to lift up the burden to be the front face. In Korea, Hannah is the one rarely speaking at all and she usually just nods along during the interviews. Fans had been happy to see that some focus were put on Hannah, but like always there were some who thought another member should be put in the focus. According to the agency, Hannah’s face is widely known in Japan and if people saw her face, they would take notice of the whole group.

From one interview to another, Hannah and Emelia are taking the questions between each other, with Julia and Carolina between them just nodding and coming with random Japanese words at times. The questions are basic; introduce the single and the songs, explain the concept and by doing that they go in on the mini-drama where they play high-school students and then gets to explain the drama, a little about their character and proudly name the Japanese actors featuring. Each member has her own love-interest in the mini-drama, and to 5 Pieces’ blushing like they got to act with actors such as Hongo Kanata, Mokomichi Hayami and Miura Haruma. Both Hannah and Emelia express in several interviews that the ladies were blushing through half of the filming because of the actors.

In the car later in the day when they are heading to the next location, where also Maria will be joining them, Julia makes Hannah pout by saying Hannah is out of her game today. What that means is that Hannah did not do well during the interviews. Hannah is surprised to hear it but with the girls exchanging their opinions she realises that she has been awkward in front of the cameras, her voice almost shaky. Hannah didn’t notice it earlier as she only focused to answer the questions and get on with the interviews, so she pouts by the thought of that fans might notice that too if the ladies now did that.

“Hannah shouldn’t have a day off,” Julia is joking to comment about Hannah’s unknown awkwardness in front of the cameras.

She is sitting in the seat in front of Hannah, not seeing the girl pouting and nodding in the back. She was so calm and relaxed though restless on her day off yesterday, and though she imagined herself being the same today she has been panicking in front of the cameras. The youngest hope she can get her act together for the rest of the schedule, but now when she is aware of what she is doing she isn’t sure if she can fix it. She had been reminded during one of the interviews that someone might bring up the family subject; ask her if her family has spoken to her anything more or what she thinks of the things aired on Life of Pieces. Their manager had actually said that no one in Japan cares about her family issues, but she can not be sure to trust him; she don’t want to look paralyzed if an interviewer out of nowhere suddenly asks her, taken off guard.

“Right,” Emelia remembers something and from the passenger seat turns around to look at Hannah sitting at the very back in the van. Small eyes big meet eyes as Hannah is surprised to have the rapper look at her. “Honggi came by on Friday, you said, how did that go?”

It’s the say she asks, with a smile and the anticipation in her voice makes Hannah glare at her childhood friend. “He came by just briefly to talk,” she answers coldly, and the frustration wells up inside her. “You had apparently told him that I am closing in or whatever and that you worry about me. Did you tell him to come over too?”

“Hey, I did not tell him to go visit you,” Emelia answers coolly though she notices the tone in Hannah’s voice, “I didn’t even tell him to call you. All I did was to tell my worries to a shared friend of ours. It’s not a big deal.”

“Well, it was me you were talking about, that is a big deal for me,” Hannah shakes her head, annoyed, “And it is not the first time you go around talking about me for other people. If you have a worry that involves me, talk to me about it; don’t go around telling everyone else.”

“It’s Honggi: I didn’t think it was a big deal. Sorry then, but he kept asking about you since you for some reason don’t contact him anymore and as a good friend I thought it was okay to exchange some information.”

Hannah keeps glaring at Emelia. “He isn’t contacting me either. And unless you haven’t noticed; we are quite busy these days.”

“Says the one who had the whole day off yesterday”

“One day! I had plans for my day off and it has nothing to do with you talking to Honggi about me!” Hannah bursts out. She can’t take that her friend talks to others about her, as if it is more interesting to talk about someone else.

Carolina who has been listening to their Japanese music on her cell phone takes out one earphone to see and hear what is going on. Their manager mentions that they have arrived (speaking in Korean this time) when he stops the car and Emelia storms out without another word. Hannah looks angry when following the other members out of the van, not caring that no one is saying a single thing. They have arrived at a hotel where they will do an interview and a simple photo shoot, so the first thing the ladies do when arriving is to fix hair and make-up and change clothes. Hannah and Emelia don’t talk to each other but since their schedule is packed they can’t let that interrupt anything.

While Hannah is getting her make-up fixed for the photo shoot she can hear Emelia’s voice speaking English, and through the mirror in front of her she can see Emelia film herself her cell phone.

“At this moment we are in Tokyo, preparing for a photo shoot at a hotel,” Emelia is announcing in English, filming herself but she is turning around to show off what is happening behind her in the room. “We have greeted the staff here, in the usual Japanese greetings… Behind me now we can see Captain going through some things for an interview later that she hasn’t had the time to look through yet… See how calm we can be.”

Maria is drying her new nails while looking through the interview questions and answers to prepare her self. She if anyone noticed right away that Hannah and Emelia were cold between each other and without asking what it was about, Maria grabbed their arms and told them that if they can’t solve it now they will talk about it tonight once their schedules has ended. She made sure that she does not want any trouble in public just because they are childish. It is fun how Maria, their captain and leader, just came in and took control with no hesitation. Her hair has been coloured back to blonde from the bright pink to not give away for her solo comeback.

With Emelia stepping up next to Hannah to film her, the youngest covers her face from the camera without disturbing for the make-up artist. She is still upset at her friend and she will not pretend it is nothing with Emelia trying to lighten the mood by filming her.

“Our magnae is hungry and grumpy,” Emelia jokes, smiling behind the cell phone camera when Hannah reaches out her tongue at her behind the hand. In Japanese she asks; “Tonight we are performing [Knockout] for the first time, have you practiced for it?”

“I practiced yesterday,” Hannah answers in Japanese and when the stylist leans away, Hannah looks up at Emelia to see her keep filming; her hand still tries to cover her face and in English the youngest says; “Don’t film me”

Emelia keeps filming for another second before stepping away, giving up to put the youngest in a better mood. But Hannah is upset because Emelia spoke to Honggi instead of her, and to say that they don’t contact each other any more is nothing she should care about. they contact each other a little now and then; Hannah is not the person to constantly stay in touch with anyone, she just contact someone if she feels for it and the good thing is that Honggi is the same as her and they don’t need to call each other every week though it was a time when they did that. it’s annoying because it isn’t the first time Hannah has heard from another friend that Emelia said this and that and end with asking “how are you?” as if there is something serious going on. Emelia puts the focus on Hannah when she is hanging out with friends, and that is what makes Hannah upset.

And maybe she is a little upset that it was just Honggi she had to go talk to.

A loud voice begins to sing and Emelia stops filming to that. Carolina is practicing the lyrics for their pop song [Knockout], even she is thinking of their first performance of the song tonight. She has a good voice, Hannah thinks.

“I filmed for our international fans; it will be put up on the blog,” Emelia tells no one in particular, continuing to do something on her cell phone but before she is done a staff asks if 5 Pieces is ready and the ladies has to hurry get out for the photo shoot.

A heart-warming talk between 5 Pieces’ members after their schedule on Sunday, the girl-group continued their hectic schedule in Tokyo on Monday from early morning to midnight. Their single has been released today, debuting on the seventh place on Japan’s best selling list and on TOP10 in most charts their song debuts on ninth place and 5 Pieces have been posing with their single in hands for half the day to promote it on that show, for this magazine, for fans and for things they aren’t sure where it’s going.

By dinner time, their single and title-track has topped most music charts by being on either second or third place. 5 Pieces is proud over the day’s crazy promotions when knowing the result.

Hannah’s awkwardness in front of the cameras doesn’t seem to improve for her. She feels better than yesterday because she has spoken to the ladies for three hours (Hannah spoke for about fifteen minutes in total during that time because all of them have so much going on and they needed time to talk), but the awkwardness won’t6 disappear. It hasn’t been a problem but it has been an annoyance. In Korea it hasn’t been an awkwardness at all; maybe because she is acting for the drama and not doing 50 interviews in a day – acting, without media sneaking around with the cameras suddenly zooming in on her face to capture all her reactions if a sudden question might pop up – and not until the group is sitting on the plane going back to Korea, Hannah can feel her whole body relaxing from a tenseness she was not aware of that she had.

On the flight the ladies sleep and in the van they are half-asleep to begin with until their manager says that [Knockout] is first on Japan’s biggest music chart and the ladies are cheering tiredly, going online on their cell phones to see the response to the single – it is good response. And a lot of their fans have watched the first episode of the Japanese drama from last week, which makes the ladies get a little proud that they don’t need to stick to just singing as a group but they can do some awkward acting on the side as well.

What probably feels the best when they have come home is that Emelia is with them; all pieces gathered at home again. The puppies get happy to see all of them but Hannah guess Michin has missed Emelia slightly more than the rest because he doesn’t want to leave her bedroom when she is in there, unpacking.

Hannah takes their cat Ace in her arms to go sit down on Emelia’s bed when she has washed up and prepared for the bed. The youngest doesn’t care about unpacking; she just wants some time with Emelia. The fight the day before about Honggi was just for those few hours, like it happens at times, and Hannah has realised she missed having Emelia sleeping in the room next to hers. They talked it out last night either way and came to the same conclusion as always that this is kind of their friendship; nag and get upset over small things that are forgotten a while later.

“How is your schedule this week?” Hannah wonders. She knows her own schedule with the Mr. and Miss drama filming tomorrow Tuesday (or today since it’s over midnight) and it is the same every day to Friday, then she will continue filming again next week as the group again is going to Japan in the weekend for their single/drama promotions. Ace is yawning in her arms before cosily rests his head on her arm while she caresses his back.

“I have … we all have some time in the studio this week,” Emelia answers while unpacking, “tomorrow and the day after, Wednesday.”

“Tomorrow too?” Hannah mutters and takes up her cell phone to check her schedule for tomorrow. “Ah, we’ll do a Korean version of the song we recorded with Melissa in New York… I have that in the evening because I have filming the whole day.”

“That’s the only thing on my schedule, which I’m happy for; I need some rest after promoting on my own in Japan,” Emelia says, staying busy with her clothes now. Since she has been in Japan longer than the others this time she has more things packed. “Maria is filming her second music video on Thursday, so I’ll go on that too, but then I don’t think I have anything planned… Yeah, right, Yong Hyun Oppa wanted to go through some outfits with me – apparently he wants my opinion on the clothes we’ll wear at the Korean Music Wave concert on Sunday.”

Emelia throws a pair of sweatpants on a chair before loudly breathing out when she falls down on her bed, rolling around to hug Michin in her arms; the puppy happily waving his tail and her chin.

“Do you want any company tomorrow? It would be fun to meet Jaejoong on set – to see your chemistry.”

“I have my hospital check-up tomorrow morning,” Hannah answers, grimacing by the thought of her members being on the set when she will try to act. She won’t be able to focus.

“How long does that take then – an hour or two? Anyway, I’ll come visit the set tomorrow, whenever it now will be,” Emelia decides tiredly on her own. “… You’re going to the hospital tomorrow?”

Hannah rarely thinks of what language the ladies use when they are in the apartment among themselves, but she do notice that she and Emelia are now using a mix of Korean and Japanese. A few words are in Japanese, something Hannah often accidentally do when she has been in Japan but she hasn’t noticed Emelia do that in a while. She cuddles with Ace in her arms while muttering an answer; “Yes, I do that every six month since the car-accident.” She likes being with Emelia like this; they have been friends for half their lives if not longer. They are not both tired and they speak really slowly, but Hannah feels a lot better knowing Emelia is in the same building, across the other wall of their individual bedrooms with the shared bathroom in between too.

“You know what they will tell you, right?” Emelia mentions in her low voice, moving her head to rest it on the pillow in the bed, “about you eating badly.”

Hannah looks over her shoulder to look at her tired friend, a small frown in her face. They have spent two days together and Emelia already knows everything – well, last night the group were talking for two-three hours about everything going on in every members’ life at the moment but Hannah didn’t say anything that she was eating badly because of everything going on. She has lost weight, not much at all, but she did loose weight.

The rapper of the group sees the face-expression on Hannah, and Emelia smirks tiredly. “I only need a day to notice how badly you’re eating, and earlier today when I hugged you, I felt that you have lost weight too.”

At times, Hannah wonders if Emelia really is that cool as she thinks she is. It happens that Emelia just notices things in the weirdest ways, coming with the stupidest explanations to how she figured it out and she is right about it most of the times too; and while that is annoying, Hannah just sighs and admits to it. it was many years ago Hannah tried to lie and avoid things around Emelia, her childhood friend know her too well for that to work.

“It’s just a phase,” Hannah mumbles for answer, pouting with her lips in Ace’s soft fur. Their cat is the softest pet to cuddle in your arms with.

“End it then,” Emelia answers. “The doctor won’t like it. And he will tell SM about it – which is worse.”

“I know…”

After a serious car-accident three years ago, Hannah had to visit the hospital for a check-up once every month to make sure she could handle their schedule with a fragile mind and body. Only once she was forced to rest for a few weeks, which was a year after the accident. As she got better they changed it to every sixth month check-up. For Hannah it seems that these check-ups have the worst timing as they always occur when she isn’t eating correctly. With her family issues going on and drama schedule where she has to wear fitting clothes, Hannah doesn’t want to follow the eating-schedule she has been given and she is an expert to trick her manager when it comes to food. Compared to her members that eat a lot whenever they want, Hannah always has to control what she eats as she easily gain weight, but whenever she has a lot on her schedule she eats less to look good in front of the cameras. Though she knows it is wrong it is difficult to fix it as she used to try her hardest to loose weight before for a long period and it is difficult to break those habits.

“Ay-yo,” Maria pops up her head by the door. Her eyes spot Ace in Hannah’s arms and she comes inside the bedroom to sit down on the bed, her hand reaching over to pat the cat. “I’m going to a meeting tomorrow morning, and Appa wanted me to ask EM if you want a ride there to the studio.”

“Yeah, sure,” Emelia nods coolly.

“Good. Then I’ll be going to bed – because I am exhausted and my head is messily speaking Japanese or things sounding Japanese,” Maria mutters and stands up, but she doesn’t leave. Instead she looks down at Hannah. “Aren’t you going to bed too?”

Emelia chuckles at the leader wanting everyone to go to bed and she kicks lazily Hannah’s leg for her to go. “I’ll see both of you tomorrow morning; now leave.”

Hannah pouts for being kicked out but when reaching the door she sweetly tells Emelia to sleep well and she walks out to go to her own room, calling goodnight to all of the ladies after she has put down Ace on the floor. Maria is going inside her own room, saying goodnight and telling Ace to come; the cat lies down by the wall near Hannah’s bedroom’s door and Hannah pretends she did not just see their pet boss ignore the princess captain and instead walks inside her own bedroom. Since Hannah has already washed up she just closes the bathroom’s door and turns off the lamps, takes away the things from her bed and lies down under the cosy quilt in her bed. Nothing is as good as coming home, lie down under the chilly quilt in your own bed and just breathe out knowing your friends are where they are supposed to be; in their very own bed, in the same apartment. Without even lying down comfortably, Hannah falls asleep.

For the second day straight Hannah is on her way to SM Entertainment’s building after her schedule has ended to record a song. Yesterday they recorded the Korean version of [(Dare to) Face Me] – a pop song they recorded in English during their latest trip to New York a few weeks ago with the American producer Melissa Allen – and then today they will record another song as the group is starting to prepare for their next album and comeback. No concept has been prepared for the comeback yet; it is just 5 Pieces slowly recording songs that might end up in the comeback album.

It’s around 11PM; it is dark outside and the van is playing soft music on the radio. Only Hannah and Manager Lee are in there, tired and without saying anything, just thinking of their own thing.

Today has been uncomfortable for them both. After the check-up at the hospital yesterday morning both of them were scolded by the main Manager Lim; the check-up went well but the doctor was not satisfied with the way Hannah eats. Hannah was scolded for not eating and taking this seriously and Manager Lee was scolded for not making her eat, as it is part of his job to make sure she does. Today the two of them fought when Manager Lee wanted to interrupt the drama filming; wanting to delay the scene for ten minutes just so Hannah could eat something. She hates to follow an eating-schedule that does not follow her daily schedule because it gives trouble to others when she is on the set and she got angry at her manager for making a scene and for putting her in a difficult situation on set. They have barely spoken to each other since.

Hannah is wearing a black boat-neck frayed cable-knit dress (big and cosy), dark leggings and a pair of simple gray star appliqué high-top sneakers. She is still in the make-up from the day’s shooting and her hair is wavy. She keeps yawning in the passenger seat, a little tired but looking forward to go back to the recording-studio.

When the van pulls up outside the entrance to SM Entertainment’s building the few fans outside at this late hour need to step aside to let them park and the cell phones/cameras that have been held in their hands are quickly held up to focus on the idol-van. Hannah takes off the seatbelt, wishing she had brought a cap or something with her because since she is sitting at the front, fans can see through the front window and with one of them spotting the blonde idol, everyone there knows it and there are screaming and squeals even before Hannah opens the door and jumps out of the van. Fans hurries forward with the cell phones reached out closer at Hannah’s face, their words inaudible in the noises they make and Hannah lowers her head. It is in the middle of the night and fans are still outside the SM building hoping to catch glimpses of their favourite idols. They are still keeping a distance from Hannah who closes the door and hurries towards the building by following the side of the van and jogging up the three steps to reach the building’s door that her manager opens for her.

“Call me when you’re done,” Manager Lee mutters to Hannah when she walks past him inside and she just nods before disappearing in and her manager head back to the van to go park it somewhere better. It’s a cold air between them, though Hannah don’t think it will be for long; it never is.

Hannah heads straight to the recording-studio where all of the ladies have been recording today and yesterday. Maria has spent these two days practicing the choreography for her comeback’s main track (she will start filming the music video tomorrow) and in between she has come to the studio to sing her parts – she is now in the practice-room. Hannah isn’t really sure of what the other members have been doing today; all she knows is that they are all home by now. She is the last one to do today’s recording.

“Hello. Is everyone awake?” Hannah quietly greets when walking through the door to the recording-studio where two men are working on some music. Both of them turn around in their chairs by her voice and smiles at her, one smile bigger than the other.

“We are about to change the coffee to something stronger,” the big yet short man Pete comments, lifting up the almost empty cup of coffee he has on the table behind his recording equipment. His name can confuse people but he is 100% Korean and he barely even speaks any English (5 Pieces was confused when they first met him). His smile is friendly and childish and he has recently gained more weight, which is visible around his waist and on his chin. Hannah smiles at him.

The genius song-writer and producer who has worked with 5 Pieces for the past five years is Park Hyekyung, the other man in the room who smiles at Pete’s joke and lifts up his hand to give Hannah a paper. They are all good friends, and if they all weren’t so busy working all the time they would meet much more often than in the recording-studio. Beside from 5 Pieces, the two men work with other artists at SM Entertainment; writing music, composing music, directing or just simply being in the studio with them. Pete is the one working the magic in the room with all the recording equipment, while Hyekyung is more like the genius behind it all. They are a great duo for SM.

“If your voice is as good as it was yesterday, we can finish this early,” Hyekyung goes straight to work. Hannah hasn’t even put down her bag before he begins. “It’s not important to complete it all, we just need to complete these parts before getting some sleep tonight, is that alright with you?”

“Sure…” Hannah nods and takes a seat in the sofa where she also puts down her bag. “Could I hear it?”

She sits there and listens through the song with the duo; looking at the lyrics she has been given. It is easier when hearing the other members’ voices in it; Hannah will just need to fill out the blanks in the song.

Working in the studio is familiar and warm, probably the most welcoming feeling Hannah has felt for over a month – and she has done a lot of things in a month – and it could be because Pete and Hyekyung guides her and talks with her in a way she is used to that it feels like going back to what she know how to do. Acting is challenging, recording and promoting in New York is like a stranger had possessed her, all the things happening with her family and the articles written about her are hurtful, but being in the recording-studio with the duo who have worked with 5 Pieces since their debut single, it is familiar as something she has done for the past five years and she knows this the best. Hannah’s voice is good, she knows how to sing and she has this American sound to it which put colours and several of sounds to whatever she sings. Hannah loves to sing; she would never have come to Korea if she didn’t love it and with time she has learned how to work her voce, how to put emotions to it and let others listening feel what she sings about. Emotions is the key to a good voice, Hannah has learnt that.

No producer knows 5 Pieces the way Hyekyung does. He knows their voices, limits, frustrations and expectations better than anyone else – better than themselves – and he is a great producer in the way he guides them and helps them understand what he wants from them in each song; how he wants them to sing and make it sound like. Hannah likes working with him. Pete is the joker, always smiling at his own words while Hyekyung is the serious and endless passionate worker. They make the best team and 5 Pieces love working with them. They don’t make all of 5 Pieces’ songs together but most of them at least; even if Hyekyung isn’t the song-writer or even the producer he often assists in the recording-studio.

Though being tired, Hannah does better than she expected.

“Your voice is still strained from being hoarse last week,” Hyekyung analyses when Hannah comes out from the booth to take a short break to listen through what they have done so far.

“I know,” Hannah nods and takes a seat, “I didn’t have that many lines yesterday as I had today on set so my voice is tired.”

Pete smiles at her excuse, glancing at Hyekyung but with no one else smiling he doesn’t comment. Hannah has been screaming today during filming. “If you drank tea, it would help your throat,” Pete comments, swirling around in his chair. Hannah smiles softly at him; everyone knows that Hannah doesn’t like either tea or coffee, but in her bag, she as an empty bottle of a sort of water that is good for your throat. Hyekyung presses some buttons before the music is playing and they are listening through her parts. Hannah almost lost her voice last week and since she is constantly working and using her voice it hasn’t gotten the chance to fully recover. After spending the whole day talking on set, her voice is strained now in the night. Listening through her parts, Hannah is satisfied that you can’t hear it as much as she feels it in , but it isn’t good enough for the song.

She gets back inside to finish off the night’s recording.

It is already after 1AM when Hannah finishes recording in the studio. Maria is still in the practice-room – Manager Lee will give them both a ride home once Maria is done – and while waiting, Hannah is walking as slow as a snail through the corridor, almost dragging her feet after her. She is going to the practice-room where Maria is preparing for her comeback but since she is in no hurry at all she is checking her cell phone, pouting when noticing she hasn’t gotten any text messages.

Hannah is ready for the bed. It has been a long day again and she is daydreaming of her bed that is waiting at home for her; thinking that she doesn’t have to be at the set until noon and that means she can sleep, sleep and sleep. Tomorrow is Thursday – which means their reality show Life of Pieces Season 4 is airing another episode – and Hannah is worried for what they will show. Because of last week the producer had apologized to Hannah for not letting her know they were airing her family problem on the show (SM Entertainment had told the producer they would tell her…), but since they aired one part they will air the rest of it too. In the end, Hannah had no say about it at all. In the future she will make sure to keep cameras away if anything like it happens again.

According to the agency, it is solving more to air it all than what it would if they didn’t air it – Hannah is still upset at that. Her family problem was supposed to be within the family; why did her sister have to go lie to the media last month? All of this would be unknown for the public if she hadn’t done that and Hannah wouldn’t have to worry about stepping outside where fans and antis could be waiting to attack about her family. On Sunday when she had talked to her members about what she should do about this whole situation being aired on their reality show, they all agreed on what Jaejoong had suggested. Hannah called the producer yesterday to tell him that she wants to explain the situation herself and with Manager Lim’s approval, Hannah will get to film herself talking about all of this and explain it on their reality show – she does not look forward to that.

Being lost in thoughts, Hannah doesn’t notice the person walking up behind her, slowly and as quiet as person to not be noticed. She sighs and puts her cell phone down in the bag hanging over her shoulder when seeing in the corner of her eye that something moves right behind her, and she gets a terrified reaction through her whole body when spotting something moving and in the same moment a voice, soft and smooth, sings something right behind her ear. Without registrating on the voice she turns around in shock, her arm automatic pushes the person away as she pushes herself up against the wall, holding on to her bag as if the wall protects her back and the bag protects her front. With huge, terrified eyes she looks at the person, her heart up and her stomach shakes as she hold her breath.

Smirking in front of her with amusement shining through his bright eyes and big smile is SHINee’s Jonghyun.

“Hello on you too, gorgeous,” he chuckles, clearly amused at her reaction and Hannah keeps pushing her back against the wall. She whines seeing it’s just him, breathing again with a hand to her chest.

“You scared me,” she whines, her heart beating uncontrollably for two reasons; first for being scared and second for how handsome he is with that amused smile in his face. Hannah takes a deep breath, letting her shoulders fall down as her whole body relaxes now.

Jonghyun keeps smiling at his, his front teeth shown as he keeps looking at her relaxing. He got a surprise over the reaction, and he had even thought of a serenade to sing for her. “Am I that unpredictable for you?” he asks with a hurtful voice, but he smiles wider when she gives him a quick glare as she notices the amusement in his voice.

“It is not funny,” she pouts. Breathing through her nose as she glances up at him, the smell from his cologne crawls inside her system and her eyes lowers to the floor as she gets embarrassed for her cheeks changing colours. It would be more embarrassing if she wasn’t wearing any make-up; now she hopes the make-up hides her blushing cheeks.

“If you saw your face when you turned around, it would be funny,” Jonghyun chuckles softly and takes the two steps that have kept them on a distance, his eyes focused on her face.

She stays still with her blushing cheeks and shy smile when Jonghyun reaches up his hand to touch her hair, his fingers slinks through her locks to touch her neck and Hannah looks up at him when feeling his hand on her skin. Again her heart begins to beat uncontrollably, her eyes on his when he takes another step forward, standing close to her, and while his smile is beginning to disappear it seem to appear in her face. Hannah smiles widely when his smile grows anew along with a chuckle heard in his throat, his face getting closer to hers. Though she has the wall against her back, she takes her hands around his waist under the green jeans jacket he is wearing to have him support her in case she would fall to the side, because when his lips touches hers it is like all air in the corridor disappears and her hands turns into fist against his back as they deepen the kiss.

The cell phone in Hannah’s bag begin to ring and Hannah giggles when Jonghyun just presses his body against hers, his kiss gets more intense to not let her answer the call. He doesn’t want to stop and the harder he kisses her the less strength she gets in her body to even have a chance to try answer. Not that she has anything against the intense make-out session; it shows how much he has missed her, but her cell phone is still ringing. The watch on his left wrist feels cold against her skin when his hand moves around her neck, holding her hear where he wants it. Jonghyun makes her breathless, kissing her as if nothing else in the world matters and her legs gets all shaky.

Not until the cell phone stops making a sound, Jonghyun breaks away from the kiss with a smile; biting ily on his lower lip and tries to catch his breath with his eyes gleaming from her parted lips to her eyes. Hannah is out of breath too, hanging when staring at him, her chest keeps rising and lowering and she closes to swallow, shaken up from the make-out session.

“Were you going to the practice-room?” Jonghyun nonchalantly asks with a nod to his right for them to walk as if nothing happened, though his voice gives away that he is shaken up too.

Hannah giggles at his question, not answering but she walks with him in the direction he nodded at with her arm around his back, still having it under his jacket in the warmth. Jonghyun seems satisfied walking next to her with his left arm around her shoulder and with his free hand he rubs his lips; which Hannah pretends to not focus too much on as she is still trying to get her mind straight. Her heart needs to calm down a bit.

“What do you have on your lips?”

“Lip-gloss,” Hannah lightly answers.

“Sweet”

She laughs at his comment, surprised by the y tone he used and Jonghyun smiles at her. he pulls her closer with his arm to kiss her on the forehead, muttering against his hair that she has no idea of how much he misses her laugh when they are apart.

Hannah stays quiet and smiles up at him, her eyes almost disappear in the smile when seeing how he smiles back at her. Almost three years ago when they became a couple, Hannah had no idea that they would be away from each other so much – neither did she know she would care so much about it. at that time they were promoting a lot at the same time and they were often at variety shows at the same time too, but not there aren’t that many variety shows and most of the time they aren’t even in the same country with all the international promotions. Being in a relationship never seemed this tough in the past when she thought of how it would look like; since this is her first official relationship she doesn’t really have anything to compare with but she has heard stories and watched movies… It’s completely different in reality.

“I saw Maria’s teaser earlier,” Jonghyun mentions when they are slowly walking down the stairs together, arms around each other. “That’s the pre-release, right?”

“Mhm,” Hannah nods, “she is practicing [Princess] now. It is the main track.”

He laughs lovely at the name of the song; he always laughs when he hears it. “Though I do look forward to see [Princess], this song with Chanyeol seems interesting,” he comments. Of course he is interested; it is about music. “But her hair wasn’t pink this past weekend when you were in Japan, was it?”

“How would you know?” Hannah giggles.

She can’t help but to giggle around him. it’s the same that she can’t believe she has a boyfriend, though they have been together for three years already. Jonghyun smiles at her question and pulls her closer to him again, this time whispering with hot air in her ear; “I keep an eye on you.” It sends shivers through her body and Jonghyun leans away with a proud smile to see her blushing cheeks. “I told you that I watched the performance on TV – we were also in Japan.”

A worker at the agency comes rushing by them down the stairs, greeting them briefly in his hurry and Hannah suddenly gets nervous that her manager might see her holding her arm around Jonghyun like this. It isn’t a secret that they are a couple, though it was revealed to the whole world earlier this year it has been two years since the agency was told about it, everyone knows about it but Hannah’s managers don’t seem to like it for some reason – Hannah don’t think it is because they are a couple or that they have anything against Jonghyun; it is more that these two take every chance to be together, or something like that. No, honestly, she has no idea of what her managers’ worry about anymore, all she knows is that she takes her arm away from Jonghyun’s back and slinks out of his arm to hurry down the stairs, smiling as if she is playing around with him.

“Why the hurry?” he complains behind her, hurrying after to catch her arm to slow her down once she reaches the floor. He puts both arms around her and Hannah leans her head back in a laugh when he presses a kiss on her cheek, cutely stepping on the side in case someone wants to pass them – though no one is there. She can feel his hands on her back, holding around to her shoulder-blades, pressing her in for a hug while he keeps his lips pressed against her cheek.

Hannah keeps smiling when he leans back, but it disappears from her face when she sees that his expression has changed. His eyes are serious, looking at her as if he is upset at something. His hands glide down her spine before he steps away from her, taking her hand in his and begins to walk, and Hannah is just confused over the change. The mood changed so suddenly.

“What?” she mutters, not knowing what happened. At times she thinks her boyfriend has worse mood-swings than she has; but they are both AB blood-type so maybe they are both the same.

“I’m not going to talk about it now,” Jonghyun mumbles for answer, and you don’t have to know him to hear he is upset. Hannah keeps pouting, being dragged to the practice-room where Maria’s music is heard in the new song playing, and movements are heard too. she stops when he stops, just pouting at him while he peeks inside the room where the loud music comes from. Hannah can feel the hot air from the room come out to the corridor, and she wonders how it’s going for her friend in there. But she is wondering what’s wrong with Jonghyun too, not looking away from his neck as she is behind him. Why is he upset? What did she do? Why doesn’t he want to talk to her about it? He never has a problem to tell her everything; even when being abroad he texts her to tell her what a great audience he has just performed for as if he is trying to make her jealous.

She can hear Jonghyun ask someone in the practice-room right next to the door if Hannah can get a ride from him back home (she thinks it could be Manager Lee, since it wouldn’t be anyone else in that room to ask but she isn’t sure and neither does she ask), Jonghyun gives a nod and thumb up to this person before closing the door. She can glimpse his face-expression when he glances at her.

“What is wrong?” she asks, still pouting like a child who doesn’t get her will through, her eyes worried at his silence.

“I’m giving you a ride home,” Jonghyun mumbles ad starts to lead her back to the stairs. His face looked so handsome when he turned around, all focused with his y jawline showing, distracting her just a little. But she keeps pouting even more when they reach the stairs and she ends up taking her hand out of his.

“I am not going anywhere until you tell me what is wrong all of a sudden,” she pouts, taking a childish step back when Jonghyun turns around to look at her. He isn’t kidding with those piercing eyes, making her swallow to try get the strength to say anything. “And I thought you had to work; why are you giving me a ride home?”

“Let’s talk about it in the car,” Jonghyun answers in a low voice, taking her hand anew for them to walk downstairs. Hannah takes her hand out of his again, struggling a bit since he held it harder, and right when Jonghyun turns around to angrily tell her something, Hannah dashes by. She can walk on her own. If he isn’t going to talk to her, she won’t talk to him. Did she do something to upset him?

On the way to the garage where his car is parked Hannah keeps thinking of what he possible could get upset about. Was it something she said or did? What were they talking about when his expression changed? No, she had laughed and he seemed to not be in a bad mood when following her down the stairs either, so why the change? Hannah is confused. Reaching the garage she stops her steps to let Jonghyun take the lead as she doesn’t know where his car is parked, following behind him. Both of them are quiet, upset at each other. Jonghyun opens the passenger-door for Hannah to sit down before he walks around the white car to take his seat behind the steering-wheel. Hannah has her bag in her lap, checking her cell-phone briefly to see who had called (it was Manager Lee; he has sent a text to agree that Jonghyun can give her a ride home) and she puts down the cell phone in her bag again, putting on the seatbelt and then sits there glaring at Jonghyun, admitting to herself that she enjoys looking at him. In one way she feels lucky, because her boyfriend looks really y when he is upset and now he is focusing on the car, putting on his seatbelt and turn down the volume on the stereo before backing out from the parking lot with a face-expression saying you should not mess with him. Hannah is sure she has the same face-expression; do not mess with her.

Under the green jeans-jacket he is wearing a black tank top and matches it with black jeans, a simple style that always works, and Hannah feel that beside from her make-up from today’s drama filming; she is not dressed up to be around him. Hannah has never been the one who dresses up in front of Jonghyun. She gets more aware of what she is wearing when it is too late, but since they were friends for two years before getting anywhere further as a couple, he had already seen all her worst sides – he has seen her cry without any make-up when she was 30kg heavier, so what worse could she possible look in front of him?

She waits for him to talk; her patience that rarely exists is being tested. She wants to know what made his mood turn so quickly, if she did something without knowing it. Not until they have gotten so far as changed to another road, he glances at her to confirm the stare she is still giving him.

“Did you eat anything at all today?” he asks her when looking out on the left at the road they cross.

Hannah’s jaw drops at the question, and for seconds she is just speechless at his question. “What? Are- Are you upset over food?!”

No way...

“I’m a concerned boyfriend, Hannah. It looks like your clothes are wearing you, not you wearing them,” Jonghyun answers and takes another glance at her, but this time his eyes goes up and down at her. She glares at him, surprised; stunned by his words and the way he looks at her. She can barely close in the surprise that he is actually upset over that.

“How my clothes are on my body is only my concern! Why are you bringing this up? I thought you were seriously upset over something!”

“I am upset!” Jonghyun answers loudly, not taking his eyes off the road. “All summer you have been loosing weight and you keep telling me that it is for just this and that, but unless I’ll see a change-”

“You’re beginning to sound like my manager,” Hannah mutters and turns to face the window with a pout.

Jonghyun glares at her this time. “I’m not kidding, Hannah.”

“Well, I’m not kidding either.”

“Why do you have to get so angry when I show concern for you?” Jonghyun asks in a high pitch. “I just want you to be healthy and happy.”

“And I do not get it why you have to bring this up every time when you already know that I do not like the subject,” Hannah argues back in a low voice, turning her head to look at him again. “I am not a child; I do not need people to lecture me.”

“Then why are you still not eating?” Jonghyun asks and clasps the steering-wheel with both hands, the veins on his wrists and hands visible as he holds on to the steering-wheel tightly.

“I am eating!”

“Not enough!”

Hannah doesn’t shout back, she just glares at him with anger. The silence gets longer, both of them getting more upset at each other, boiling of anger. Jonghyun suddenly hits the steering-wheel with his hand so she gives a jump, but she keeps glaring as he releases a loud sigh.

“THIS is why I didn’t want to talk about it,” he comments in a dark tone.

“Then you should not have gotten upset to begin with,” Hannah mutters and when Jonghyun turns his head to glare at her she does not hesitate to glare back. She did nothing wrong and she has told him many times before that her weight and body is not something to bring up; it is enough that her members, managers and fans comments about it.

He looks back on the road, again giving out a frustrating sigh. “I can’t believe you’re angry at me for caring.”

“I am not angry at that.”

“Then why are you-”

“I am angry at my boyfriend for bringing up the subject he knows I do not want to talk about. I fought with my manager today because of food and now you want to know if I even eat? Do not ask that!” Hannah answers loudly, her body turned a little towards him in the seat. “I am so tired of people telling me what to do, as if they know better than me, and with everyone else asking the same questions I do not want you to do it too.”

Jonghyun stops the car outside 5 Pieces’ apartment. He does not like that 5 Pieces’ apartment is closer to the agency than what the last apartment was. “If you were eating correctly, I wouldn’t have to ask,” h mentions and she glares at him anew.

Angrily, Hannah takes off the seatbelt and opens the door. “Thanks for the ride,” she mutters when getting out, shutting the door roughly after her. Jonghyun comes out of the car.

“Are you just leaving?” he asks, closing the door after him and hurries up to the building to her. “I’m not done, Hannah.”

“I am,” she answers and opens the building’s door to get inside, and to her dislike her boyfriend follows. Jonghyun grabs her arm so she turns around

“I barely get to see you and this is how you walk away from me? I have to tell you what I think, Hannah.”

“I get to see you just as much as you get to see me, what is the difference there? If you know since before that I absolutely hate it when people ask me if I am eating enough, why do you ask just that question if you do not want to make me upset?”

“You hate talking about everything that is about you!” Jonghyun answers, waving a hand in the air to show his frustration. But when he has said those words he sees her face-expression change to the darker and he knows he said it the wrong way when she walks to the elevators, shrugging his hand off her arm. “Hannah-”

“Just leave me alone.”
