She’s gone
I Just Want to Love YouIt had been two days since Yong Guk last saw Yoon-eun. Since that day in his car, Yong Guk had not been having lunch with them. He doesn’t know what to say to Yoon-eun when he sees her and he guessed she wouldn't want to see him too.
Yong Guk lay back on his chair and looked out of the window. From his office window he has a great view of Seoul. Not all of it, but it's a nice place to watch sunrise and sunset. He looked at the setting sun and silently wished that he could turn back the time. How he wished to return to the night two days ago and not did what he had done to Yoon-eun.
Yong Guk sighed again for the hundredth time in the last two days and buried himself back into his work.
A couple of minutes later, a knock was heard on his door.
After giving his command to enter, Youngjae and Daehyun walked in and sat down in front of him.
Yong Guk put down his pen and leaned back on his chair to look at the two men.
“What’s wrong? I seldom see the two of you coming in together unless it’s for work and I don’t remember giving work which involved the both of you,” Yong Guk tried to joke.
However, the two men were not smiling or laughing. Yong Guk noticed it and leaned forward on his desk.
“Something is definitely wrong with the both of you, spill it. You guys know how much I hate suspense,” Yong Guk warned.
Daehyun and Youngjae looked at each other, and then Daehyun sighed and said, “Yoon-eun is gone.”
Yong Guk looked at them blankly, “What do you mean by gone?”
Youngjae continued for Daehyun, “We didn’t see her during lunch yesterday but we thought she was just busy so we didn’t ask. Today Daehyun asked Yoojin and Yoojin said that Yoon-eun had gone overseas.”
Finally Yong Guk relaxed; he didn’t realize that he was holding his breath after Daehyun said that Yoon-eun was gone.
“Did Yoojin say where she went?” Yong Guk asked.
Both men shook their heads and Yong Guk exploded, “Why didn’t the both of you ask? Do you know how dangerous it is for a woman to travel to other countries? There are so many disasters around and there are also terrorists’ attacks around.”
Daehyun and Youngjae covered their ears as Yong Guk continued ranting on how dangerous it is for a girl to travel alone and how the disasters can be like.
When Yong Guk finally stopped, the two of them removed their hands from the ears.
“Where did she go?” Yong Guk asked after he had calmed down.
The two men shrugged their shoulders.
“How long will she be away?” Yong Guk asked again.
Once again the two men shrugged their shoulders.
Yong Guk shut his eyes, took a deep breath and opened his eyes again glaring at the two people sitting in front of him.
“Is there anything that the both of you know about?” Yong Guk asked. He was trying to suppress his anger before he exploded at his two buddies once again.
Daehyun smiled and leaned forward, “One thing that I know about is that Yoojin has all the details about her trip because she’s her secretary and she was the one who booked the tickets for her.”
After that, Daehyun and Youngjae immediately ran out of Yong Guk’s office to avoid any explosions which he might have after hearing what Daehyun had told them.
After they ran out, Yong Guk picked up the phone on his desk and dialed Yoon-eun’s extension. He knew that Yoon-eun wasn’t around but her line would be diverted to Yoojin since she’s her secretary.
As expected, Yoojin picked up the line and in her bubbly voice greeted him.
“Hi Yoojin, I heard from Daehyun that Yoon-eun had gone overseas, mind telling me more? I have something important to check with her.”
“Oh, you can tell me about it. Yoon-eun had given me all her projects that she has on hand,” Yoojin replied still in her bubbly voice.
Yong Guk took a deep breath and thought, “Why is she so like Daehyun? Irritating and slow to react.”
Yong Guk tried to sound pleasant and said, “Well, it’s actually not confirmed yet so she doesn’t have any files regarding it. Don’t worry I won’t call her at the wrong time, you just have to let me know where she’s going as well as the reason and I’ll make sure I find the right time to call her.”
Yoojin pondered for a while and said, “Alright, anyway she won’t be back anytime soon.”
When Yong Guk heard that sentence, he was shocked. He didn’t even wait for Yoojin’s reply and asked impatiently, “What do you mean by she won’t be back anytime soon? Where did she go?”
Yoojin giggled when she heard his impatience, “Don’t worry, she’s not leaving the company or anything. She just took two months leave to go visit her husband in France. It’s her yearly routine. Every year during this period she would take two months leave to bring Jae Hwan over to France to celebrate his birthday as well as to visit her husband.”
Yong Guk heaved a sigh of relief at Yoojin’s reply. He thought his actions previously had caused Yoon-eun to flee overseas, but luckily it wasn't.
“Mr. Bang, are you alright?” Yoojin asked after not getting a response from Yong Guk.
Yong Guk woke from his dream, smiled to himself and answered Yoojin, “Yeah, I am alright. I was just doing counting the time difference and thinking when to call her so that I won’t disturb their family moments.”
He was lying but he don’t think that Yoojin will know it anyway.
After thanking Yoojin for her help, Yong Guk ended the call and made another call.
After the line got through, Yong Guk said, “Get me on the earliest flight out to France and free my appointments for this month and the next. Anything important you and Youngjae will cover for me. One more thing, I’m leaving now so just give me a call if anything crops up. Most importantly is the tickets, I don’t care what time it’ll be just get me out as soon as possible.”
After he finished giving all his commands, Yong Guk packed his things, took the important documents, shut down his computer and rushed out of the office.
Youngjae and Daehyun couldn’t even catch him to ask for the reason or chat for a moment with him. The two of them just watched as Yong Guk ran down the stairs to the basement for his car with his briefcase in hand.
