2 months later

We were rushing to the hospital. At least I was. Hyukjae was just tagging along, together with Kyuhyun who was merely curious and nothing else.

Hangeng had woken up.

When we entered his ward, we found him hugging his knees to his chest as he stared blankly ahead. He only looked up when I walked forward.

He frowned, ‘Who are you?’

‘Geng.’ Kyuhyun walked forward as Hyukjae pulled me to his side.

He directed his frown to Kyu, ‘Who are you?’

‘Are you kidding me Geng? If this is one of your tricks again I swear I would ing kill you now.’ Hyukjae spatted.

Hangeng began trembling and his heart rate increase as the heart monitor began beeping noisily.

‘Heechul is on his way now Geng. You would want to see him.’ Kyu said.

Hangeng merely hugged his knees tighter.

‘I said Heechul is coming right now.’ Kyu continued the lie.

‘G-go away… I… I don’t know you guys…’ Hangeng cried out.

‘Hyuk.’ Kyu turned to us.

‘I know. Let’s go.’

‘This could be good. Heechul is in jail and Hangeng lose his memories. He couldn't even remember Heechul. I think it works out fine.’ Kyu said when we got into the car.

‘Just monitor him closely. I don’t want any more trouble.’ Hyukjae tightened his hold over me.

‘There wouldn’t be. Unless he is faking it.’ Kyu laughed.

A shudder went through me. He couldn’t, could he? Faking it?

The thought came as quick as it was dismissed.

Life wasn’t about us wasting time thinking about the ‘what ifs’. Life is about the ‘is’.

I hugged Hyukjae tight.

This ‘is’ us.

Together, and forever.

 Nothing else matters.

As we lay in bed later that night, I grabbed onto Hyukjae’s hand and linked our hands together.

I smiled at the sight.

‘What are you thinking?’ He drawled.

I shook my head.

‘There must be something if you are smiling like that. Humor me. Tell me.’

I cuddled to his side, hiding my face from him.

‘I’m just thinking how lucky I am. To be dating a man like you.’

He laughed, ‘Dating? Really Hae? I would say we are a bit more than that, don’t you think?’

‘Whatever.’ I said. Trying to close this topic before my face got any redder.

His fingers started circling the small of my back, ‘We are lovers, at the very least.’

That piqued my interest as I stared up at him, ‘At the very least? What do you mean?’

He pecked my lips, ‘You.’

‘Hmm?’

‘You. You are mine.’

My smile could not get any wider as he leaned towards me.

I stopped him in time and cupped his face.

‘And you. You, Lee Hyukjae. You are mine.’
