‘’Girls wake up! Fix your things and take a bath so that we can have our final breakfast before going back to Chaeyoung’s house’’

Jennie opened one eye and yawned ‘’We’ll be there mom!’’ She shouted with a dry voice. A split of pain in her head made her wince

‘’Looks like we drunk a lot more than I thought’’

Jennie looked at the girl her arms are wrapped around. She tightened her hold on her and whispered ‘’I love you Chaeyoung…’’ She kissed her hair and stayed in that position for a while

She cherished this moment of tranquility because tomorrow…they’ll be going back to Korea. She didn’t know how will they tell this to their best friends…Lisa would probably leave her life once and for all for taking advantage of this vacation despite promising to enjoy it as best friends with Chaeyoung

Jennie snorted a little ‘’How could she expect me to act like I’m just a best friend?’’

Chaeyoung stirred as Jennie watch her open her eyes slowly. She smiled and muttered

‘’Hey, good morning’’

Chaeyoung mumbled something but it’s too soft for her to hear it ‘’What was that?’’ Jennie asked

‘’I said how are you so beautiful despite having a hangover?’’ Chaeyoung said before grabbing her forehead in pain ‘’I feel like a car hit my head over and over again’’ She winced

‘’Want me to get you some Advil and water?’’ Jennie asked, worried

‘’Don’t you have your own hangover?’’ Chaeyoung said softly

Jennie pecked her in the forehead ‘’I’m fine. I apparently have better tolerance than you’’ She teased

Chaeyoung smiled and giggled, her headache going away a bit ‘’Pabo, go and get it for me. Do your job as my wifey’’ She commanded playfully

‘’Yes ma’am’’ Jennie winked before standing up, another headache splitting her head as she wobbled a bit

‘’You okay?’’ Chaeyoung asked, her voice tinted with concern

‘’Yeah don’t worry about me’’ Jennie said and patted Chaeyoung’s head softly ‘’I’m your wifey, I’ll take care of you’’ She said with a gummy smile that made Chaeyoung’s heart skip a beat

‘’O-Okay…’’

Jennie walked outside and desperately hoped that there’s an Advil at the kitchen counter in their suite

‘’Oh Jennie, where’s my uptight sister?’’ Alice said, stirring up some coffee for herself ‘’Bet you didn’t use the wine bottles I gave to you’’

‘’Actually’’ Jennie chuckled

Alice’s eyes widened ‘’C-Chaeyoung agreed?! Like really agreed?’’

Jennie nodded ‘’Yeah…that’s why I’m hoping that there’s Advil here for her headache right now’’

Alice squealed and stopped making her coffee to excitedly walk closer to Jennie ‘’So what happened?! I don’t want any juicy details to be left out!’’

Jennie blushed and that was enough for Alice to squeal again ‘’You two did the kiss and bump didn’t you!’’

‘’No unnie it wasn’t like that!’’ Jennie waved her hands frantically making Alice laugh like a maniac

‘’Oh Jennie, this lawyer in the making can feel it’’ Alice’s eyes were twinkling with mischief ‘’So was my sister a good kisser or a bad one? I bet she was a bad one since she’s such a nervous wreck!’’

‘’Yah don’t talk to my hubby like that’’ Jennie pouted ‘’In fact, she’s an amazing kisser’’ She said dreamily

Alice rolled her eyes ‘’I’m just teasing Jen, where would Chaeyoung get that? Absolutely from me’’

Jennie shook her head ‘’I’ll tell you the details later, for now I need an Advil and water’’

‘’At the drawer they have some stocks. Let Waiheke Island be ready for times like this’’ Alice giggled before going back to her coffee ‘’And Jennie?’’

Jennie looked at her as Alice smiled gently, which was quite rare ever since Jennie saw and got to know her.

‘’Take care of my sister…and whatever you guys are going through, don’t ever give up’’

Another head-splitting headache made Jennie clutch her head in pain as they finally arrived in Chaeyoung’s house. Lunch already being made by their mothers while their fathers lifted their luggage and placed them to the living room for their final packing.

‘’Wifey?’’ Chaeyoung looked at her in concern ‘’Are you sure you’re okay? You didn’t drink any Advil earlier…’’

Jennie chuckled a bit weakly ‘’Yeah…I think a nap will solve this though don’t worry about me’’

Chaeyoung still look worried ‘’Mom I’ll just bring Jennie upstairs. She doesn’t feel well’’

‘’Oh no’’ Their mothers walked towards their daughter with worry evident on their faces

‘’Are you feeling unwell dear?’’ Mrs. Park asked

Mrs. Kim placed a hand on Jennie’s forehead ‘’You’re a bit hot honey…I think you should rest. We’ll make some porridge for you’’ She looked at Chaeyoung who was already holding Jennie ‘’Chaeyoung please take care of Jennie’’

‘’I will’’ Chaeyoung immediately answered

‘’I’m fine really…’’ Jennie said distancing herself from her mother and Chaeyoung ‘’I’ll just take a quick nap’’

‘’Stop being stubborn honey’’ Mrs. Kim scolded ‘’If you don’t take care of yourself, your fever might get worse.’’

Jennie sighed ‘’I told you mom I’m fine’’

Chaeyoung sighed and looked at Mrs. Kim as if asking for permission in which she nodded

‘’What the?! Hey!’’

Jennie yelped as she felt herself get lifted up and carried in bridal style by her one and only hubby

‘’Stop being a stubborn wife and let me take care of you’’ Chaeyoung grunted

Jennie blushed and flailed her arms in embarrassment seeing their families snickering at her predicament ‘’Y-yah! Put me down!’’ She pouted

Chaeyoung’s eyebrows twitched a bit as if willing herself not to give in to that cute pout with her dumpling cheeks blowing and... 

Oh God Chaeyoung just wants to reach out and squeeze it to her heart's content

‘’Must…resist’’

‘’No’’ Chaeyoung said before going upstairs with Jennie angrily ranting at her with her dumpling cheeks blowing in irritation as their families just watched the comical scene, laughing and chuckling to themselves. Alice videoing the whole thing once she saw Chaeyoung shooting a knowing look to Mrs. Kim. She shook her head

‘’Even Chaeyoung got Mrs. Kim connected to her’’

Chaeyoung felt sweat dripping down her forehead as she successfully opened the door since her unwilling wifey doesn’t want to open the door and still insisted to put her down

‘’If you would have just put me down then you wouldn’t be sweating like crazy right now’’ Jennie huffed

‘’Well…maybe you’re just that heavy’’ Chaeyoung teased

Jennie gasped, really offended at that comment ‘’Yah Park Chaeyoung! You’re just not lifting enough weights!’’ She glared at her and slap her numbing arm furiously

‘’Ow!’’ Chaeyoung laughed even with her arm stinging in pain ‘Stop that you abusive wifey!’’

Jennie finally stopped and looked at Chaeyoung with crossed arms, they’re just standing at the side of the bed with Chaeyoung still not putting her down. She ignored the growing warmth in her heart to glare at Chaeyoung

‘’What?’’ Chaeyoung raised her eyebrows with an amused smile

Jennie looked away, feeling a blush creeping up to her face seeing Chaeyoung sweating like crazy and still holding her bridal style…like she really was her hubby

‘’Thank you…’’

‘’For?’’ Chaeyoung teased

Jennie huffed and pinched her arm making Chaeyoung yelp ‘’Don’t test me, now put me down’’

Chaeyoung gently put Jennie in her bed and rubbed her arm afterwards ‘’Jeez…sick wifey is scarier than normal wifey’’

Jennie glared at Chaeyoung ‘’Are you saying I’m scary?’’

Chaeyoung giggled ‘’Nah you look cute all the time…’’ Chaeyoung looked at Jennie’s glare and felt a shiver run down through her spine ‘’Though…you er…do look scary if people don’t get to know you well’’ She mumbled

‘’Did you say something?’’

Chaeyoung gulped and shook her head ‘’No ma’am’’

Jennie lightly smirked before grimacing in pain again, laying her head on Chaeyoung’s pillow ‘’God I didn’t know it will turn out this way…’’ She mumbled, though the smell of her hubby all around her makes her relax a bit

Chaeyoung Jennie’s head and worry evident on her face ‘’You’re getting really hot wifey…’’

‘’I know I always am’’ Jennie joked

Chaeyoung chuckled and slap her arm playfully ‘’I’m serious pabo…’’

‘’A good night’s rest will be enough for me…’’ Jennie said then sending a grateful smile to her hubby ‘’And you taking care of me’’

Chaeyoung smiled back ‘’Anything for you my wifey’’ She stood up ‘’I’ll go and get some basin with water and a cloth to put on your forehead’’

‘’I’m not that sick hubby’’ Jennie giggled

Chaeyoung shook her head and gave her a disapproving look ‘’You’re getting hot wifey; I’ll take care of you don’t worry. So just rest up there okay? We have a long flight tomorrow’’

Jennie sighed and finally relented making Chaeyoung smile and nod in approval. ‘’Good wifey’’

‘’Only because I want you taking care of me…’’ Jennie mumbled

‘’I heard that!’’

Jennie laughed and looked up at the ceiling ‘’Who would have thought I’ll get a measly fever just because I drank wine?’’ She held her head and massaged it to lessen its pain, the midnight’s happenings replaying all over her head…from when they kissed, her confession, Chaeyoung finally admitting her feelings, to snapping at each other and finally, how they fixed things the right way.

All of that happened in a span of one night

‘’Maybe the emotional outburst plus the alcoholic wine and not taking Advil caused this?’’

‘’I told you should have taken the Advil too earlier pabo’’

Jennie looked beside her and saw Chaeyoung setting the basin at the table and squeezing the wet cloth

‘’…you read minds now?’’

Chaeyoung snickered before staring at her with amusement dancing in her eyes ‘’Uh no? I’m just scolding you like a good hubby I am’’

‘’Oh you are, aren’t you?’’ Jennie raised an eyebrow

‘’Yes, I am’’ Chaeyoung said before gently placing the cloth to Jennie’s forehead, eliciting a sigh of relief from the older girl ‘’And I regret not forcing you to take that Advil earlier’’

Jennie chuckled ‘’Yeah cuz you’re groaning and rolling around the bed while holding your head in pain’’

Chaeyoung blushed ‘’You know…if you weren’t sick right now, I would have smacked your head’’

‘’Oooh you’ve gotten aggressive my hubby’’ Jennie teased

‘’How are you still playful despite your head hurting?’’

‘’Maybe because I’m not that sick at all and you’re being too worried?’’

‘’Shut up or I’ll damp this basin to you’’

‘’…really gotten aggressive’’

Their bickering stopped when someone entered Chaeyoung’s room

‘’Hey girls, here’s the porridge we made.’’

Chaeyoung gave her a look that says to stay in that bed which made Jennie chuckle

‘’Thanks Mrs. Kim, I’ll take care of Jennie don’t worry’’ Chaeyoung smiled

Mrs. Kim chuckled ‘’That girl’s got a tough immune system despite  getting easily hurt, she’ll be back to normal by tomorrow if you take care of her right’’ She said while also giving Chaeyoung the medicine and glass of water.

Chaeyoung nodded and said ‘’I’ll take care of our things as well when Jennie fall asleep’’

‘’No honey let us take care of that. You focus on taking care of my daughter okay?’’ Mrs. Kim smiled ‘’Would you like me to bring your lunch too?’’

Chaeyoung shook her head quickly ‘’No no! I’ll come down and get it myself please don’t bother yourself’’ She panicked

Mrs. Kim laughed and squeezed Chaeyoung’s cheek which made Jennie pout

‘’Hey! That’s my chipmunk cheeks to squeeze!’’

Chaeyoung blushed and coughed awkwardly making Mrs. Kim laugh harder ‘’Fine fine I’ll let go jeez. Such a selfish daughter you are’’ She teased before going out of the room

‘’Really?’’ Chaeyoung sent Jennie an exasperated look when Mrs. Kim was out of the room, in which Jennie just gave her a wide gummy smile making her heart flutter at the sight

‘’Yes really’’ Jennie grinned

Chaeyoung laughed and gestured Jennie to sit up. Jennie did as she told and was about to get the porridge from Chaeyoung’s hand but Chaeyoung swerved it away from her

‘’Let me guess, you’re going to eat it instead’’ Jennie smirked

Chaeyoung laughed ‘’As much as I love to, I would rather feed this to you’’

Jennie’s eyes widened slightly ‘’Feed me?’’

Chaeyoung scooped up some spoon and blew on it softly because it’s hot ‘’Here, ahhhh~’’

Jennie blushed but did it anyways, opening and the milky liquid entered making her insides warm and tingle ‘’Wow…it’s delicious’’ She mumbled

Chaeyoung’s smile stayed on her face as she watch Jennie eat with her feeding the cat-eyed girl. The absolute innocence and cute way Jennie was…drinking? Eating? The soup was really satisfying to watch and made her feel more warmth than ever.

‘’Who would have thought that feeding this scary cat would reduce me to a whipped mess’’ Chaeyoung chuckled

‘’What?’’ Jennie asked

‘’It’s just that’’ Chaeyoung let out a dazzling smile ‘’You look so cute’’

Jennie laughed, despite having a slight fever, she has never felt so better seeing Chaeyoung looking at her with that newfound emotion in her eyes, smiling at her like she’s got all the answers in the world and that she sees the universe within her.

They stared at each other for long, casually leaning towards one another until their lips are centimeters apart

‘’You know’’ Chaeyoung whispered ‘’I could get sick too’’

‘’Then let me take care of you when that happens’’ Jennie smirked softly

Chaeyoung smiled back ‘’I would love that’’

Before they could seal the deal, a loud ringing was heard and they leaned away with a sigh.

‘’Go answer it’’ Jennie looked away, already knowing who was calling

Chaeyoung sighed and put down the porridge, going over where her phone is and looked at the caller. She took a deep breath and answered it

‘’Hello?’’

‘’Hey.’’ Lisa said, albeit a bit coldly too

Chaeyoung flinched ‘’Is there something wrong?’’ She asked

‘’Yeah, thank you for asking’’ Lisa said

‘’What is it?’’

‘’No Chaeyoung, it’s not a what. It’s a who’’ Lisa growled ‘’You’re what’s wrong. I didn’t expect you to decline my call at midnight! Heck I was just trying my luck that you’ll answer it because I miss you so much! But to hear it actually decline? What the actual hell Park Chaeyoung?’’

‘’Lis-‘’

‘’No I’m not done!’’ Lisa shouted angrily ‘’Why the heck are you awake at that time Chaeyoung?! I’ve been having this bad feeling that something bad has happened and you’ve been acting weird!’’

‘’Lisa please not now…’’ Chaeyoung massaged her forehead in distress ‘’Please let’s not fight and talk through this.’’

‘’I’m tired okay?!’’ Lisa yelled before quieting down to take deep breaths ‘’I’m tired of making the first move Chaeyoung…Ever since you landed there, I’ve been the one who has been always calling you.’’

‘’You promised Chaeyoung, you said we could video call from time to time and guess what?”’ Lisa laughed bitterly ‘’We didn’t even video-called at least once!’’

‘’Lisa I’m sorry, I know I haven’t been giving you time but you know I’m with my famil-‘’

‘’I know you’re with your family Chaeyoung…’’ Lisa cut her off ‘’ But may I remind you that Jennie’s family is also there with you’’

‘’Oh my God are we going to go through this again?!’’ Chaeyoung said a bit harshly ‘’We talked about this in my room Lisa! Is this you getting jealous again?!’’

‘’Fine!’’ Lisa seethed ‘’I ing confess okay?! I’m jealous that Jennie has to be the one who gets to spend an entire week of Christmas with you! I’m jealous that you’ve been sleeping next to each other for the past week! Heck you two could even be cuddling because I know that Jennie is a cuddler!’’

‘’Could you blame me?! I should be the one cuddling with you not her! I should be the one spending time with you in this special occasion! I should be the one making you smile and laugh! I should be the one your family is getting to know more! Not our freaking best friend!’’

‘’Lisa stop!’’ Chaeyoung shouted ‘’You’re letting your jealousy take control of you! We’ve talked about this!’’

‘’Well I’m sorry for not letting it get to my head’’ Lisa said sarcastically

Chaeyoung looked hurt ‘’Did what I said not enough to reassure you?’’

‘’That what?’’ Lisa said mockingly ‘’ I’m the only one you love? That you’ll call me or text me? Update me? Heck video call me?’’

‘’Lisa…’’ Chaeyoung whispered

‘’How could I not be worried Chaeyoung tell me’’ Lisa scowled ‘’Did you do anything that you promised to me?’’

Chaeyoung was quiet but Lisa continued to talk, and what she said next strike her to the core

‘’Or are you busy hanging out with Jennie so much that you gradually began to like her more than your own girlfriend’s company?’’ 

Chaeyoung opened to speak ‘’Lisa I told you…Jennie is…’’ She trailed off, her words dying. Her heart clenching as if she couldn’t bear to say it after all that happened to them this vacation. Before landing here, she could confidently say that Jennie is her best friend only…but now, it’s leaving a bad taste in if she says that word

She gulped and said shakily ‘’sick. Jennie is sick right now and I better take care of her.’’

Chaeyoung flinched hearing Lisa slam something

‘’Now you’re taking care of her?!’’ Lisa shouted ‘’She has her parents Chaeyoung! Let her parents take care of her not you! We’re not done talking here!’’

‘’Talking? Really Lisa?’’ Chaeyoung scoffed ‘’All you ever did was shout at me and not let me talk!’’

‘’Because I have to let you know what you’ve been making me feel!’’ Lisa shouted, her voice almost cracking up making Chaeyoung feel a bit guilty for provoking her even more ‘’It’s ruining me that I can’t hear or see your voice from time to time! I miss you so ing much! I love you chipmunk!’’

‘’And the worst part is?’’ Lisa chuckled bitterly before spitting out the words that struck through Chaeyoung’s heart like an arrow

‘’It’s like you don’t even care!’’

Chaeyoung took a deep breath and exhaled shakily, Lisa’s words striking her to the core and she knows she needs to finish this conversation or it will get worse than before ‘’I’m sorry Lisa…’’ Chaeyoung said with a small voice full of vulnerability ‘’We’ll talk when we land tomorrow. I’ll go to your house and we’ll finish this conversation. I have to take care of Jennie; she needs me right now’’

‘’But I need you more Chaeyoung…’’ Lisa whispered, hurt even more evident in her voice

‘’I miss you too…and I’’ Chaeyoung bit her lip ‘’love you too…Good bye Lisa’’

Chaeyoung ended the call and let out a few tears, wiping them away before facing Jennie again with a forced smile ‘’So,’’ She chuckled ‘’Sorry about that…I didn’t know it’ll get intense’’

Jennie stood up but Chaeyoung immediately went by her side and put her hand on her shoulder ‘’No don’t. I’m not done feeding you’’

Jennie was quiet, seeing Chaeyoung desperately forcing herself not to break down in front of her ‘’You can let it out you know’’ She whispered, cupping Chaeyoung’s cheek who leaned on it hopelessly looking comfort to Jennie’s touch and eyes which showed nothing but love and understanding…but if Chaeyoung looked deeper, there’s a tint of despair.

They quietly stared at each other and sooner than later…Chaeyoung’s tears streamed down her face quietly, she’s not sobbing, not even frowning. She’s just…looking at Jennie, and releasing her pain and sadness from talking with Lisa.

‘’I’m sorry’’ Jennie said, her eyes getting teary as well ‘’It’s me right? You guys are fighting because of me’’

Chaeyoung sighed but nodded solemnly ‘’Yes…’’

‘’You know you got to choose hubby…’’ Jennie whispered

‘’Please wifey…’’ Chaeyoung closed her eyes, tears still flowing ‘’Not now…’’

Jennie nodded ‘’I understand’’ Jennie wiped her tears away ‘’Please don’t cry…It hurts me when you cry. Not to mention you still look beautiful even when you’re crying’’

Chaeyoung giggled and a small smile crept up to her face ‘’May I remind that you look like a goddess when you cry?’’

‘’…does that mean I should cry from now on?’’ Jennie joked effectively making Chaeyoung laugh lightly

‘’Pabo, let’s finish this porridge so that you could drink your medicine now.’’

‘’Yes hubby!’’ Jennie grinned her gummy smile

Chaeyoung immediately smiled back, Jennie’s gummy smile really is just that infectious to her. Her tears slowly being wiped away by the girl in front of her while shooting her quick jokes and smiles of reassurance

 ‘’Thank you wifey…’’

Night came quick and Jennie is still asleep after hours of talking and changing her cloth from time to time. She fell asleep by the time Chaeyoung returned at the room after having a late lunch downstairs. She dutifully watch Jennie sleep and when her cloth gets dry, she immediately replace it and put it back on her forehead.

Chaeyoung softly held Jennie’s cheeks, pinching it slightly and a small giddy smile made its way towards her face feeling the soft squishy cheek. She moved her hand towards her forehead and sighed in relief feeling that her fever really back down now. Jennie will be as good as new tomorrow.

Chaeyoung felt at peace at the moment, but her mind kept going back to her conversation with Lisa earlier

‘’Or are you busy hanging out with Jennie so much that you gradually began to like her more than your own girlfriend’s company?’’

Chaeyoung continued to gaze at Jennie’s sleeping face, she was so gentle and at peace that Chaeyoung couldn’t bear to blame her at all.

‘’Is it my fault?’’ Chaeyoung whispered, gently tracing Jennie’s facial features with her finger. ‘’Is it my fault for falling to you? Is it yours?’’

‘’Drunk me is more honest than I thought’’ Chaeyoung chuckled, remembering every single thing that she said to Jennie ‘’I have… feelings for Jennie since before Lisa asked me to be her girlfriend…’’

How messed up is she? Did her failed relationship with Jisoo really affected her that much?

‘’I mean she was my first love and girlfriend…and the rest of the things when I went back to Australia was worse…’’

She looked at her phone and couldn’t bear the thought of Lisa hurting. She took a deep breath and placed her phone to her ears after dialing.

‘’H-hello?’’

Chaeyoung swallowed up the guilt that was eating her. Lisa was definitely crying

‘’Hey…’’ She spoke softly ‘’How are you doing?’’

Lisa laughed bitterly ‘’Should I say I’m fine and let you take care of Jennie so that you won’t be wasting any more time with me?’’

‘’Lisa you know you’re important to me’’ Chaeyoung said softly

‘’I don’t feel like it…’’

‘’You were right Lisa…’’ Chaeyoung admitted ‘’I’ve been a pretty bad girlfriend to you…I didn’t notice it because I was having way too much fun because of our family…’’

‘’Let me guess’’ Lisa snorted ‘’Jennie’s family is your family now too?’’

‘’Lisa please stop this jealousy…’’

‘’How can I Chaeyoung? You’ve been hanging out with them all the time. How can I not be jealous?’’ Lisa said sadly ‘’Let’s switch position Chaeyoung, imagine yourself in my position’’

‘’I know it’s my fault okay? I’ll admit it, it’s my fault that I haven’t been giving you any attention and love for the past week.’’

‘’Admitting it is not enough Chaeyoung’’ Lisa sighed ‘’You see? This is why I was so agitated when I heard you’re spending time with Jennie and her family no less this Christmas…’’

Chaeyoung was quiet and Lisa took that cue to continue talking

‘’I knew this would happen. I was so scared that when you guys landed there, you would forget about me and enjoy too much in your vacation…’’

‘’I’m sorry Lisa…’’

‘’Is that all you’re going to keep saying to me Chaeyoung?’’ Lisa softly said ‘’Because if that’s it then we should end the call right now…after you answer my question’’

‘’Lisa please don’t…let’s fix this.’’ Chaeyoung sadly said ‘’I don’t want you sleeping with a heavy heart’’

‘’Well too bad. I’ve been sleeping with a heavy heart for a few days now’’ Lisa said bluntly before continuing

‘’Did something happen between you and Jennie?’’

Chaeyoung inhaled sharply ‘’Please…not now Lisa’’

Lisa heard the sharp inhale and clenched her fist ‘’Chaeyoung? Answer me’’ Lisa said calmly, scaring Chaeyoung even further

‘’If you don’t answer within 5 seconds, I’m going to assume something happened Park Chaeyoung…and nothing pretty will happen when you go home tomorrow’’

Chaeyoung felt scared hearing Lisa talk so…bluntly and coldly, as if she could actually hurt someone if she did answer yes. She gulped and answered quietly

‘’Nothing happened babe…’’

‘’Are you sure?’’

‘’I…’’ Chaeyoung hesitated, her fists clenching ‘’Yes…’’

Lisa calmed down a bit, she believes in her girlfriend. ‘’You’re mine Chaeyoung…I’m your girlfriend’’

‘’Yes Lisa I know…I told you that didn’t I?’’ Chaeyoung chuckled though hurt and the act of lying is swallowing her whole being.

‘’I’m sorry earlier’’ Lisa said softly ‘’I got too jealous…Please know that I only miss my girlfriend so much…’’

‘’I miss you too…’’ Chaeyoung whispered ‘’Will you be okay now?’’

‘’Yes…thank you for reassuring me chipmunk’’ Lisa smiled ‘’I’m glad you called actually…I thought that you’ll really choose Jennie over me’’ She chuckled

‘’I’m not going to let you cry and not be there for you’’ Chaeyoung said ‘’I care for you too much’’

‘’I know…and thank you’’ Lisa said, sighing in relief ‘’I better get ready, we’re about to board now anyways. You got really impeccable timing you know?’’ She joked

Chaeyoung let out a small smile ‘’Glad I caught up to you then. Stay safe okay? You’ll see me tomorrow’’

‘’I can’t wait then’’ Lisa smiled ‘’I love you chipmunk’’

‘’I…’’ Chaeyoung blinked back tears ‘’love you too…’’

Lisa ended the call with a kiss and hanged up as Chaeyoung lifelessly put down her phone. She was really scared going home tomorrow with her raging emotions inside her, how could she act like nothing happened?

She glanced at Jennie who was still sleeping and knew in her heart that if she were to choose Lisa, her heart will not take it seeing Jennie’s pained face, especially after everything they have been through.

Chaeyoung took a deep breath ‘’I got to take this slowly…make up my mind soon or else…’’ She took time looking at her phone, Jennie and at the mirror, seeing herself

‘’All of us will get hurt.’’

Chaeyoung went to her guitar and strummed, the music of her guitar calming her down instantly, and before she knew it, she was strumming a familiar song to her ears.

‘’You…’’ Chaeyoung drawled out, tears streaming down her cheeks as the message of the song  hitting her really hard. She thought she really understand what love really is…but ever since this vacation happened, it looks like she doesn’t even scratch the surface of what love really feels like.

‘’Oh God…’’ Chaeyoung ducked her hand and sobbed quietly, what was she supposed to do? Can she really face Lisa after everything that happened here? Could she forget or act like nothing magical happened while she was here in New Zealand? Could she bare hurting one or both important people whom she really cares about so much?

 

This is all too much…

 

And it’s all her fault…

 

‘’I’m so stupid…’’

 

‘’No…you’re beautiful’’

Chaeyoung’s breath hitched, feeling warm arms wrapped around her body and the very familiar scent entering her senses. That warm breath on her neck making her feel loved more than ever and safer around the scary thoughts surrounding her mind. The hands that came up and gently wiping away her tears while the lips she seems to be addicted so much, whispering soothing murmurs in her ears.

‘’Absolutely breathtaking’’ She continued ‘’Whatever you’re going to decide, know that I will never ever leave you’’

‘’Oh Jennie…’’ Chaeyoung cried and turned around as she stared at Jennie’s eyes b with tears…those eyes that could fit the whole universe and those tears symbolizing as the stars that Chaeyoung love to admire so much.

Without thinking, she pushed herself and captured Jennie’s lips in a searing kiss. Jennie’s eyes widened before drooping slowly and cupped Chaeyoung’s cheek to pull her closer.

There’s no lust or any desire in their kiss…only sadness, joy, relief and most of all, love. Jennie let go of the kiss slowly, breathing and savoring this closure with her hubby. She looked at the tear-streaked face and eyes full of various emotions that made her want to hug this young girl tightly

 

And so she did.

 

Chaeyoung clutched Jennie’s shirt and cried on her shoulder. Crying because she lied to her own girlfriend.

Crying because of all the mixed feelings the she’s been feeling.

Crying because the girl she’s hugging right now has affected her so much even from before…and it only strengthened even more right at this moment.

Crying because she doesn’t know how to face Lisa after they return to Korea tomorrow…

And crying because she doesn’t want to leave this place…this place that Jennie has provided to her and she’s just too blind to see it before…and now she’s paying for it.

‘’I…’’ Chaeyoung’s voice was muffled yet Jennie is still able to hear it ‘’I don’t want to leave…’’

‘’Me too…’’ Jennie whispered ‘’But in love? There’s never an easy way…only the hard way.’’

Chaeyoung let go of the hug to look at Jennie confusingly ‘’Why do you think so?’’

Jennie chuckled and shook her head almost exasperatedly ‘’Why are you making me repeat it over and over again?’’ She held Chaeyoung’s cheek and they stared at each other’s eyes for a moment

‘’Because in the end? It will be ing worth it.’’

‘’What’s make me so worth it Jennie…?’’ Chaeyoung muttered ‘’Why me?’’

Jennie smiled sadly and stood up, offering a hand to the younger girl ‘’Come, let’s go to bed…’’

‘’You didn’t answer my question…’’ Chaeyoung said but accepted her hand as Jennie led her to her bed and laid there

‘’Come here…’’ Jennie patted the spot next to her and Chaeyoung followed.

As soon as Chaeyoung laid down, Jennie suddenly went on top of her, straddling her and placing her head to Chaeyoung’s chest. Chaeyoung’s heart started beating erratically and Jennie could heart every beat…and she could feel her own heart beating like that as well

‘’I don’t actually have an answer to your question…’’ Jennie said ‘’Do you feel your heart beating fast?’’

Chaeyoung nodded as Jennie sat up and smiled, she went further up and whispered to her ears ‘’Look to your left.’’

Chaeyoung’s eyebrows furrowed but followed anyways, then she felt a familiar two mounds pressing to her head and she blushed furiously ‘’U-Uhm…W-wifey?’’

‘’Shhh hubby’’ Jennie whispered almost sensually ‘’Listen’’

Chaeyoung stored away the *ehem* naughty thoughts going inside her head and closed her eyes to listen carefully. Then she heard it…the beating of Jennie’s heart, which was fast and almost exciting? She could also feel it as if her heart is…happy

‘’This Chaeyoung…this is what you make me feel.’’ Jennie whispered ‘’I know I’m not one for cheesy words but…’’ She blushed and almost wants to curse herself for saying something so cheesy but what the heck, she already confessed anyways

‘’it’s love that you’re making me feel…and I don’t want to let it go…not anymore’’

She sat up again and Chaeyoung looked at her with such intensity that Jennie almost shivered at the way Chaeyoung is staring at her but continued talking anyways

‘’You saw my state after the dance competition…and it’s’’ Jennie swallowed the despair she’s feeling from remembering but continued ‘’horrible…you saw me in that state anyways’’

Chaeyoung’s eyes lightened up suddenly ‘’I…’’ Chaeyoung whispered, remembering Jennie's angry confession last night ‘’I was the reason why you were like that…’’

Jennie smiled sadly but nodded ‘’It was my fault anyways…I got too confident’’

‘’Wifey…’’ Chaeyoung whispered and cupped Jennie’s cheeks, luring her close to her

‘’Hubby…’’ Jennie closed her eyes and felt a pair of lips entangled with her own. Those soft lips that Lisa and Jisoo has kissed before…and now? It’s all hers. She just got to make sure that this time, she won’t be hiding her feelings any longer…even when they got back to Korea. She will give Chaeyoung the time that she needs and she will be there for her…

No matter what.

Chaeyoung released the kiss and already her lips are aching for more. She wants to cherish this…this might be their last moment together, and it’s time to finally let go.

Jennie felt that need and flashed her gummy smile. Chaeyoung finally felt her true smile return as she smiled back. A moment later, they were suddenly laughing at each other. It was weird, having a warm moment from earlier and now they’re laughing all the pain and sorrow away; Only leaving behind the love and care that they feel for each other.

Jennie saw the longing look at Chaeyoung’s eyes and nodded while smiling stupidly

‘’Just kiss me you dummy’’

Chaeyoung laughed before standing up and kissed Jennie square in the lips passionately, as Jennie happily caught her kiss just as passionately. Holding each other close because they knew in their mind that this might be their last kiss if things don’t go well…but as the kiss progress, they could also feel the hope that all might go well. They have to hang on to that…for a better future.

Their love is burning, it’s like playing with fire. They knew it was dangerous, they crossed that line last night, and there’s no turning back. The question is…will the burning fire brighten up their path that lies ahead?

Or will it reduce them to ashes?
