Running
Snow FlowersA/N: I accidentally posted the ending (Don't worry, it's not this chapter Idk why but the 'hide box' got unchecked) So if Chap 50 shows up or something, don't read it!! It'll ruin everything...So I'll post this to hide my mistake...this was supposed to be for the next day but whatever...
My hands trembled as I held onto the phone, unsure of whether to answer. I heaved a deep breath, trying to calm myself before the storm.
“Hello?” the man said.
That man sounded like my father.
“Park Yoochun....how did it go?...Did that microchip work? Did you manage to follow those rascals! I need to know...”
“...”
“Yah! Park Yoochun!! Answer me you rascal!”
“...”
“Yah! Yah!!”
“Abo-,”
Before I could confront my father, the phone flicked off, showing the Samsung logo before it fully died.
No words could express my frustration, not even profanity could convey my emotions.
I can’t believe that old hired Yoochun! Out of all people, it had to be Yoochun. How could have I not expected it?!
The blackmailing, along with So-Hyun’s attempted murder were all because of Yoochun and my abouji!
“Park Yoochun....how did it go?...Did that microchip work? Did you manage to follow those rascals! I need to know...”
Microchip?! What microchip was he speaking of? I took off my jacket, soon inspecting each flap, each seam of it. Nothing was to be seen.
Jaejoong must’ve had it.
That robber who attacked us was probably Yoochun. He must’ve attached the microchip to Jaejoong’s jacket. That’s why those ers got a hold of us! All because of that ing microchip! They were probably hunting Lee Mi Ran down, hoping to get a hold of her.
I’m sorry, but don’t overestimate your intelligence. I was bound to find out in some way.
I dashed towards Junsu’s car, soon knocking on Jaejoong’s window. “Jaejoong-ah!”
“Wh..what?” he asked, rolling his head over. Fatigued took over him. His eyes were red and heavy, his skin colorless as if he was on the verge of death.
“Get out...” I said. “I need to check something with you!”
He lifted his head off the headrest, opening the door. “Wh..why?” he asked, standing up.
“Check your jacket!” I exclaimed.
“Wh...what?”
“Just check it!” I cried.
Jaejoong pulled his arms out of the sleeve, causing a small object to fall.
“Those es...” I gritted, picking up the chip.
“What...what’s that?!” he shrieked.
“Remember when that robber...or whatever beat me up, and then you came and saved me?” I asked, holding it up to his eyes.
“Yeah...”
“Well...that robber was nobody else but Yoochun! When you guys beat each other up...he probably put this in your jacket!!”
“Oh...god...” he gasped, eying the microchip.
“You know what’s more surprising?” I asked.
“Yoochun works for my abouji.”
Another gasp escaped him.
“Which means my abouji knows the we’ve been doing since last night! And right now, he’s out to get Lee Mi Ran!!”
“What...what are we going to do?” he asked.
“I’m going to stomp this ,” I said, dropping the chip. I smothered the chip with my shoe, crushing it into pieces. “See? It’s done!”
“But...how...about...if they know...we’re here?”
“I don’t ing know...” I seethed.
“Yunho!” Junsu cried, running over to us.
“What happened?” I asked.
“Lee Mi Ran...she won’t wake up...” he stammered.
Sirens went off, blaring loudly. A number of vehicles encompassed us, solely in the purpose for interrogating this scene.
A number of paramedics were crowded around the car as they loaded Lee Mi Ran on a stretcher. My worries spiked as they carried her lifeless body to the back of the truck.
“I’m going...with Lee Mi Ran...” Jaejoong stuttered.
“What?! Why?” I asked, holding him back.
“I...”
“You don’t have to,” I said.
“No...I’ll go.”
“It’s your choice...but do you really want to accompany her after what she’s done?” I asked.
“I’ll...just keep an eye on her...who knows...she might run away...” he said.
“Good idea,” I said. “Call me okay?”
“Yeah...” he said, distancing away.
Oh god. My stomach lurched, knowing Jaejoong would be situated in the same vehicle as that wench, not for the purpose of interrogating her, but for aiding her.
Junsu stood at a meter away from me, speaking with an officer. I walked over to the both of them, hoping I could contribute to their conversation.
“So...how did the accident happen?” the police officer asked, a notebook and pen in both hands.
“Um...so I was turning to a lane, and then it was my right of way since there were no cars in sight. So then I thought the road was clear, until that pick up truck hit the car,” I said.
“Oh, I see...” the plump officer said, nodding his head. “Was anyone drinking any alcohol.”
“No, not at all,” I said.
“Blow into this,” the officer ordered, holding out some horn-looking thing.
I did what was told, and blew into the instrument. The officer then pulled it out, inspecting it afterwards.
“You’re telling the truth,” he said.
“I am.”
“So did the driver run out as soon as you came to check the situation?” the officer asked.
“Y...yeah,” I said, nodding. “The door was wide open.”
“Did you see him or her run out?” he asked.
“No. The car was already empty,” I said, scratching my head.
“I’m going to take a close look,” he said, drawing towards the vehicle.
“Actually sir,” I said, interjecting as I walked alongside with him.
“What is it?”
“There’s evidences of his identity,” I said.
“Did you check in the owner’s car?” he asked.
“Yes, and it’s concerning me.”
How so?” he asked.
“There’s...pictures of me and a man...”
“What kind of pictures?”
“Candidly taken pictures...pictures shot without permission...and his hand phone is also in there,” I explained.
“So are you saying...you’re linked with the driver responsible for this crash?” he asked, raising a brow.
“Yes.”
“The pictures are inside?”
“Yes, they’re on the seat,” I replied.
The officer neared the open vehicle, picking up the stacked photographs. His eyes widened, probably taken aback by the photo’s content. Whatever, I don’t give a about his reaction or what not. I just wanted this Yoochun guilty.
“This suspect can get charged for invasion of privacy,” he said, shuffling through the pictures. “Did you by chance receive these before? Since there are multiple copies of each picture...”
“Yes...I did...” I stammered.
“Have you reported it?” he asked.
“Well...I sent it to a forensic team in Gangnam Police station to see who it could be from,” I replied. “Well, my lawyer did.”
“I see,” he said nodding. “Do you think this hit and run was intentional?”
“Y..yes. Actually, before that...the car was following us,” I explained.
“Hmm...that definitely explains the whole situation then,” he said.
“And...there’s something else...” I said. “I’ll be back.”
I ran to the spot where I’d previously stood with Jaejoong, picking up the crushed microchip.
“There’s also this microchip...it was attached to my friend,” I informed.
“Hm...it seems they even went to the extent to hooking up a microchip,” the officer said, scrunching his brows. “How did this get on your friend?”
“Well...it’s actually...linked to Kim So Hyun. The teenage girl who almost drowned at the Yonghwa bridge,” I explained.
“Really? Did you testify as a witness for that case?”
“Yes...I did...” I replied.
“What happened in the scene of the accident?” he asked.
“Well...prior to when she drowned...we got into a fight with the suspect who ended up running away...and I think he hooked this up to my friend...” I said, holding up the chip.
“Did you state that for your testimony?” he asked.
“Yes...well the fighting part. We didn’t know there was a microchip attached until now.”
“Ya! Detective Jung Yoo Hwan...gather this piece of evidence...” the officer said, gesturing an ahjussi with his hand.
The ahjussi from afar nodded, running to our direction. He wore gloves, holding a plastic bag.
“Was this at the scene?” Jung Yoo Hwan asked, pointing at the microchip.
“It seems this was all intentional,” the plump officer said.
“Give that to me,” Jung Yoo Hwan said.
I nodded, giving him the small, intricate gadget. He plopped it in a zip lock bag, storing it for evidence.
“Officer, there seems to be a cellphone inside,” Jung Yoo Hwan said. “The suspect seems to have left it af
