“I’ll tell you something Yunho...abouji...he’s manipulative. I admit it...he does it so he can survive the business world...he’s been taking advantage of your amnesia...he’s been faking this whole nice act...just so you can come back to the family..."

In Sung's words echoed in my head, over, and over again.

Why…why are you here Jung Sajangnim? Don’t you resent me? Aren’t I the cause of your wife’s death? Why your sons hate me? Why are you in my presence? How do you…how do you even know the address to my house?

Jaejoong…you changed a lot. I never would’ve expected you talking to me like this…

Why are you meeting up with a person you detest? A person you branded as filthy from ten years ago?

I wanted to…I wanted to tell you…

Tell me what? That I’m disgusting? That I’m no good for your son? I already know that…

Jaejoong, please listen to me.

After what you did to me and my mother ten years ago? Why would I? I don’t want to listen to you. You didn’t listen to me.

Please…just here me out. I’m here to apologize for what I did.

It’s too late. I don’t your apology will make up for all the pain I felt for the past 10 years Jung Sajangnim

If I don’t apologize…I’ll regret this in my grave…my son already hates me. I want to see him smile again before I go. I caused all this…all this pain for the two of you because of my blind disgust…I’m sorry Jaejoong.

Jung Sajangnim…before I accept your apology, I want to know why you blamed everything on me. I want to know why you made me the culprit. I know you opposed our relationship, but why would you go that extent of damaging your property?

It’s because you two were awfully stubbo-

Stop your act Jung Sajangnim...no...Jung Min-Ho-ssi...

You little rascal! How dare you call me...Jung Min-Ho-ssi? Am I that low in your eyes?

Ha! You may be a good actor Jung Sajangnim...but you’re no Lee Byung Hun! Don’t you have to be a little more consistent than that? What happened to the script?! You’re quite out of character...

*punch*

! What was that for Jung Min-

Don’t you ever call me Jung Min Ho-ssi! Just because you’re a professor in Seoul University doesn’t mean you can talk down to me like that...

Hmph...a man like you deserves to be talked down upon...considering the things you’ve done to me and Yunho...the things you did to Changmin’s omma...that sweet woman died because of your wrongdoings! If I only recorded that conversation, we shared prior to the fire...I could’ve proved that you planted this against me!! You’re lucky I left my recorder in my jacket pocket that day!

You little rascal...

Is that all you can say? You little rascal? Has my slyness the words out of your mouth you old man?

It seems that your ego has gotten the best of you...tsk...tsk...tsk...I remember your innocent act in that police station that day...too they weren’t convinced...people can see through slyness...

No. People can see money. That’s why I was made out to be the culprit...but luckily...my slyness scared you since you dropped the charges...ha! But Jung Sajangnim...I know you’re not here to talk about the fire...since that’s the thing that triggers you the most in your life, is it? Because YOU’RE the one who starte-

Shut up! Or I will contact the authorities!

And do what?! You can’t do that! The case is long gone...isn’t it? Since YOU dismissed it...and used it as a threat to separate me and Yunho...You know what Jung Sajangnim?

I will kill you....

Oh Jung Min-Ho-ssi...you can’t do that!! I live in a high rise apartment!! There’s too much security here!! Your little mafia group doesn’t have a chance against me...and I live on the 53rd floor...there’s no way they can get here...

Then I can push you off that window...

Ha! As if you have the nerve to! I have surveillance cameras here...they’re going to see your crime...you can’t break them anyways, since that’ll seem suspicious, right? And the security guards KNOW you were here...there’s too much evidence...what happened to your sly ways? Have they deteriorated? How could you not think ahead?! Is your age getting to you?!

You’ve really changed Kim Jaejoong-ssi...haven’t you? You're just like your abouji... Before, you didn’t even DARE to look in my eyes...but now you’re spitting these things at me...so...the truth of the world has finally gotten to you, huh?

It did Jung Minho-ssi, and it really did help a lot. So thank you for making me the person I am today...ahahaa...

Yeah...the lying, scheming person you are...how dare you even touch my company?! Because of you...my stocks have dropped...my investors have been pulling out...and sales have been at its worst!!! Even the spokesperson of the brand decided to call it QUITS! Because of you Kim Jaejoong-ssi...

The heavens have finally answered my prayers...this is what you get Jung Min-ho-ssi...but...I don’t think a ruined business is enough to compensate for what you did to me and Yunho...you deserve a worse punishment...you need to taste your own medicine...

Like what? I don’t deserve anything...YOU’RE the one who needs a punishment...for using your girly looking face on my son in hopes to seduce him for money!!! You knew that Yunho was rich, that’s why you made my son gay!!

You can’t change people’s uality Jung Min-ho-ssi, that’s highly impossible! The reason why Yunho and I were together was not because...of money...it’s because we both loved each other!!! You’ll never...ever...ever experience that kind of love Jung Min-ho-ssi, because you’re a HORRIBLE man who doesn’t deserve love!

Be quiet!!!

*punch*

After that long talk with In-Sung, I ran out of the house, eager to do what he advised me to do.

“Kim Byeonhosa...” I whimpered into the phone.

“Oh...Yunho-ssi, what’s wrong?” Kim Junsu said. “You...sound like your crying...”

“Help me.”

“Why?”

“I...want you to help me re-open an old case,” I explained.

“What...what case?” he asked.

“Meet me at Paris Bageutte, and I’ll tell you.”

~

Within fifteen minutes, Kim Junsu walked into the café, briefcase in hand and collar perfectly pressed. Punctual man indeed.

“Kim Junsu,” I said. “Take a seat.”

“Jung Yunho,” he said, sitting down. “Aren’t you supposed to be...with Jaejoong?” he asked.

I heaved a loud sigh, preparing myself to disclose the news. “He...he’s currently in the hospital”

His jaw dropped as I said those words. “He...he...”

“He did something...something horrible to himself,” I said, my body tensing. “I don’t want to talk about it.”

“Just tell me, I am his friend.”

“Fine...he attempted suicide,” I disclosed.

Another gasp escapes his mouth. “He...he what?”

“The pain was too much for him...so then...he decided to do that,” I croaked. “But, right now I want to talk about something else.”

“What...what is it?” Junsu asked, still looking distraught.

“I want to re-open the case regarding the incident that happened with Jaejoong...”

“But...that case is already closed...” he stammered. “Why would you need to re-open it?”

“Because...” I gritted, clenching my fists on the table. “My father is a bastard.”

“You...you got your memories back?” Junsu asked, blinking rapidly.

“I did.”

“Everything?” he asked.

“Yes,” I confirmed.

“...”

“This recorder,” I said, holding up. “Helped me.”

“That’s...Jaejoong’s...” Junsu stammered.

“You’re right.”

“So...what do you want me to do?” Junsu asked, repositioning his tie.

“You’re one of the best lawyers in Seoul. You have access to everything, every transcript, every record...am I right?” I asked.

“Well...I have my private investigators for that,” Junsu explained.

“I want to arrest my abouji.”

“But...that’s...a bit of a stretch Yunho-ssi.”

“How?” I asked, raising a brow.

“That case was 10 years ago. It could’ve passed the state of limitations,” Junsu informed.

“We have to try either way.”

“When did it exactly happen?” Junsu asked.

“December 23rd. 2006,” I said.

“Then I think we have a chance,” Junsu said, his gaze sparkling with enthusiasm.

“Now tell me, how am I going to reopen the case and prove Jaejoong innocent?” I asked. “Everyone thinks he did the fire, even though that’s not the case.”

“Well, first things first,” Junsu said. “We need evidence.”

“Right here,” I said, sliding the recorder to him.

“I’ve never listened to this recorder,” Junsu said, inspecting the recorder.

“Now you should.”

Sitting and sipping my coffee, I patiently waited for Junsu to listen to the recorder’s contents. I tapped my fingers on the table, composing an interesting rhythm.

Certainly, I was going to give Jaejoong justice. From now on, I’ll no longer be a coward. I’ll stand for him and I’s rights and prove him innocent to the eyes of many. The misconceptions directed towards Jaejoong revolted me. I despised it.

My father will get the punishment he deserves, and the pain he’s given to Jaejoong and I.

“Wow, that’s a lot to take in...” Junsu said, yanking the earphones off his ears. “It seems that Jaejoong made a deal with your father in exchange for paying his mother’s illness...”

“Yeah,” I nodded. “And it resulted in Yoochun spying on us...”

"So...I'm guessing that Jaejoong made an agreement with your father to drop the charges against Yoochun? And then...in order to return your abouji's favor, your abouji specifically asked Yoochun to spy on you and Jaejoong?"

“Yeah... I said, drawing out the candidly taken photograph of Jaejoong and I. “Jaejoong had this picture in his pocket.”

Junsu picked up the photograph, looking closely at it. “The edges are burnt.”

“Yeah...”

“So then...I’m guessing that your father found about you and Jaejoong’s relationship with this picture..judging from its burnt edges...” Junsu said, handing the picture back. “Which resulted in Jaejoong getting the blame of the accident. Your abouji probably did something to do some sort of revenge on Jaejoong...”

“But then...why would my abouji set the house on fire? That part makes absolute no sense to me...” I said, shaking my head.

“I’m guessing...it was a way to break you and Jaejoong apart...your father’s rich, right?”

“Yes.”

“Burning one house won’t be a big deal for him, since he has enough money to buy a bigger house than the one he currently owned...”

“You’re right,” I said, agreeing to his answers.

“Do you remember anything else in the scene?” Junsu asked.

“Well, all I remember is that Jaejoong had a cigarette in his hand, and that he was badly beat up...and there was some sort of suicide note...”

“It’s possible that your father beat Jaejoong and got him unconscious prior to the fire...”

“...”

“And from your father probably started the fire and made it seem like he did it by planting those evidences against him...”

“Wow, you’re smart,” I said, nodding like an idiot.

“But, I don’t know how we’ll convince the department to re-open the case. There’s no audio of the scene, or any disclosed information about the fire. We’ll need more evidence than this. And my predictions might be inaccurate.”

“Then...what should we do Kim Junsu?” I asked, taking the recorder.

“We'll file a petition to re-open the case..."

"How...how are we going to convince people to sign it?" I asked.

"You're having an upcoming exhibition...right?"

"Yeah," I nodded.

"How much people are attending?" he asked.

"A...hundred..." I stammered.

"I have an idea. Since this is an old case, it'll be hard for the police to re-consider..."

"So..." I trailed off. "What...are we going to do?"

"We'll gather media attention and invite reporters to gain awareness..."

"...."

"To garner supporters, we'll expose your father's wrongdoings in a power point...so then people will sign the petition,,,"

"That seems like a good idea," I said, nodding.

"We'll also need witnesses to testify, then the court will conside

Chapter 52: why do we become masochist?? i seriously love angsty ff... but i usually don't like when there is a cheating(yunho to chae won) and using others for to let out your frustration(yh and jooyeon) or heartache(jj and jicheol)... i felt a bit repulse reading it but the way you depict their emotions and reasoning for each situation make me understand the characters actions in more depth..at the end of it... i don't mind it coz FINALLY JJ GOT HIS BEAUTIFUL ENDING WITH YUNHO... yeah i'm kind of idealist even though i know in reality it is hard to see justice to prevail and true love to be together for a lifetime.... author-nim... thank you for writing this wonderful story as you know sometimes the angsty ff is too much bear like the dark night, the water gleamed under the moon...i actually read the first few chapters and the ending chapter really shook me to my core...

Chapter 52: I gave so much to say but dont know where to start so I'm just gonna wing it....first, it's either the fact that the boys went/going through military service that you typed soldier instead of shoulder or you made typos on purpose to see if we are actually reading your fic. Lol Second, hmm kinda not the ending that I was expecting but I don't hate it not do I like it as much as I loved the other previous chapters you wrote. Third, I was also looking forward on Jae's web novels, they are fun to read. Fourth, kinda wishes there was a trial scene or some sort. Five, I like some parts of the original ending, like Yun running to Jj. Save for the part where it's his wedding day(or is getting marred) with chae won and that they both die. Dude, yes! You got that right, they went through so much already, especially Jj. It's like the angst monster puked at him or smth. And Lastly, I'd you are editing the entire fic, please don't hide the chapters because some of us actually likes the story and plans to re-read it when we feel like we want to be all depressed and wants to have a crying fest!! This fic is BAE. O. K. A. Y?

Chapter 29: I've been reading this fic for these 2-3 days.. I really love the way you depict the story.. everything so real, so vivid, and it's very easy to imagine what happens and how the characters think and feel
Your depiction of the characters is really good!
My heart just aches alongwith Jaejoong's.. how such innocent and shy guy who experienced so much misfortune in his life.. *sigh*
It's sad how life is for him..
lol I'm supposed to be studying for my exams and finishing up my thesis and journal but I keep coming back to this fic haha!
(well I really should be studying right now but reading this fic is a way for me to de-stress hehe)
but my point is, this fic is really good! addictive in a way haha that I want to keep reading and know what happens to jaejoong..
two thumbs up for you!
will probably finish this in a couple of days :P
thank you soooo much for sharing! thank you thank you thank you!!

Chapter 52: "But Yunho’s determination and desperation won Jaejoong’s heart. Jaejoong didn’t need a perfect man. He needed a man who loved him, and Yunho was the perfect candidate. Despite his rough, reckless nature, Jaejoong loved Yunho for his thorns. Even if it pained him, or caused blood to shed, Jung Yunho was the one."

hi, i'm here again \o/ ^my fav paragraph

instead of studying for my paper tmr, i ended up reading this on my phone and bawling my eyes out. you make my heart raced, jumped, sank, and any related adjectives.

the perfect way to describe this story from my perspective would be "crash and burn". there were lotsa of panicking, possessiveness, guilt, self loathe, but most importantly, you showed how both of em truly loved each other. how strong the affections were as if the bond had embedded into their bones.

thank you.
